Gnostic Bar & Kitchen in Belfast

Cosy bar and restaurant tucked away just off Corporation Street. Food was good but be aware that the plates are small, not quite tapas small but you'll want at least two mains and a side each. The cod tacos were the standout dish for us. I was disappointed in the service in the lounge upstairs. Although the staff were friendly, we waited over 30 minutes before one of our party walked over to the bar to ask if someone could take our drinks and food order , and that was with only 6 tables occupied. We also had to keep leaving the table to find a staff member to order drinks as the evening went on.

Food was ok. We did find some plastic in one of our small plates. Good variety on the menu.

Our favourite place for a Sunday drink. We have become regulars, and the bar staff have become our friends. Love the atmosphere and being able to chat without loud music ... I love the cocktails,I think I have tried them all 😂

A little gem of a place - more people need to know this place exists! The food is amazing, and the staff are excellent and over accommodating. The dishes are great for sharing. Recommend the pork belly tacos and the chips, also the savoury donuts (just wow)!!

We visited last week and had Sunday lunch here and it was really gorgeous. The food is elevated Gastro pub cuisine And it’s really delicious. The atmosphere is lovely and it’s a nice bolt hole. Just a skipping a jump from the city centre. If you want somewhere quiet that’s got a nice atmosphere and good food then I thoroughly recommend visiting

Very tasty dishes and delicious cocktails.

Vegetarian selection seems good on paper, but £18 for "flat bread" which wasn't flat at all, it was very dense and difficult to eat mini scones which were very difficult to dip in hummus and really hard to chew, plus a side of tenderstem broccoli, was simply not good enough. This is the second visit to Gnostic that was extremely disappointing - I thought I'd ordered badly on my first visit so did not review. However this is the second time that I've been, and on both occasions felt it was extremely overpriced for the quality.

Great food and service. Could do with live music but you have to try this place.

Mexican tasting menu was phenomenal!

Interesting menu but no indication of portion sizes to order. In between tapas and starter/main/dessert. I would suggest 2 plates and a side for a full meal. However, every single dish was delicious.

We were a group of 10 for lunch. Tried the prawn, venison, beef and cauliflower dishes- delicious food. Well done- great for groups wanting to enjoy a range of almost tapas style food, but bigger and brilliant

Had a voucher for here and booked for this evening. Arrived only to be asked for the voucher even though I'd booked and had the relevant email. Angered enough my partner convinced me to try the place out. We were asked rather quickly if we knew what we wanted to which I asked for another few minutes. We waited over 25 mins. Had the restaurant been busy I'd have understood but there were 2 other tables that had been served. Server seemed more interested in their phone. Will not be back.

Gnostic is one of our go too spots in Belfast and we always look forward to going.The food and presentation is always top quality and very delicious. Great atmosphere and a really unique setting close to titanic quarter and Yousef always does a fantastic job on his cocktails.

We were here at a private party on Saturday evening and the gents Yousef and Tarek were very friendly. Some amazing cocktails and drinks. We didn't get to try the food but will be back for date night!

Lovely venue, the scoop is it's a well kept secret, next door to Direct Wine Shipments. There were six of us at Saturday teatime, quite a fussy crowd. The ambience was warm and relaxing. Bar staff were doing a great job on the Mojitos and Margaritas. We went upstairs for our table and the dark and stylish decor continued. Food is based on small plates costing between £8-14. We ordered one each and six sides to share. Favourite of the night were the deep-fried red peppers with feta, served hot and fresh. We ordered a second one.. slow cooked lamb with houmous was well cooked but a bit bland. Duck in the form of a spring roll was on the small side. Seabass with pepperonata was a lot of peppers and a little fish. The cheese plate was delicious, with brie, blue cheese and what looked like manchego, with huge juicy red grapes, home made raisin relish and home made crackers. The Choc Ice dessert, which three of us ordered, was bad. It was a chocolate mousse encased in a heavy hazlenut overcoat which was way too much. So, a few quibbles but mostly good and a sure thing for a return visit. We spent about £40 per person which included a bottle of Holy Snail Sauvignon Blanc.

We went today to the Gnostic and we are definitely going back. We ordered drinks and foods but there was an issue with the system and our order got lost. A member of the staff apologised for the delay (about an hour) and gave us a free round of drinks. When the food came they also offered us an extra main and side as a gesture of good will. Everything was delicious and we really appreciated the honesty and the effort to make up. We really enjoyed it and will go back again soon.

We had my husband's surprise 40th party in the upstairs private room and it was all perfect! The buffet food was excellent and they provided full coeliac options as requested. We had our own bar with staff for the entire evening and the music was exactly as we'd asked for. The staff even helped out with the surprise. Couldn't ask for more and would highly recommend 🤗

Booked a table for 4 for lunch last Friday. We stayed in the AC Marriot so a 2 min walk away which is handy. Walked in and there were only 2 other people there so it was a bit too quiet. We ate in the downstairs bar. The barman was very friendly and answered questions about the size of the portions etc. Drinks came nice and quickly and the food not too long after. The food was really excellent. Good service and not too fussy. Nicely presented and good quality. Would go back again for the food. The chips were nice too. If it was a bit busier and there was a bit of a buzz in there it would have been perfect.

Just back from having a wonderful meal and cocktails. Have to say best meal I've had in a long time. Manager was a true gentleman. Bar guy made the most amazing cocktail. Really is a hidden gym. Beside direct wines. Will definitely be back when I get home from the holiday. You really must check this quint cosy place out.

What an absolute hidden little gem!! The food, cocktails and server were all amazing. The banter was to die for and the server knew what was the best on all the menus. A little place with big character. A definite place to stop off if you are in Belfast.

We absolutely love this place. I need to say that it has the friendliest staff members in Belfast. They have great attention to details. Wine is fantastic. We can't wait to try their 6-course menu with wine pairing. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Fabulous food! Great service! We sat outside with our dog and had a lovely afternoon. Staff were extremely diligent and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Went for our anniversary on Saturday evening. My food was delicious however there was a slight issue with my partners flatbread, as soon as we made the staff aware they couldn't of done more to rectify the issue and were attentive throughout the whole night. Very impressed with the service and how caring the staff were. Will 100% be back. Oh and the cocktails are to die for😍

Very nice, cozy little bar and lounge. We reserved a table for 5 in the lounge but, despite there being at least 2 tables open when we arrived, they told us we would have to sit in the bar downstairs, which was smaller and required pushing two small round tables together for the five of us to eat. It was very hot in there - the two AC units on the wall read 28 degrees and 30 degrees. Other than that, the experience was very nice. We ordered crispy cod sliders, beef sliders, the Lebanese lamb served on flatbread, goat cheese tortellini, and hit smoked salmon. It was all delicious and served quickly. The drinks were all prepared well and not at all watered down. For dessert, we ordered the Raspberry and Olive Oil Cake, and the Dark Chocolate Pave. Although we weren't thrilled with the seating, the server was very attentive and the proprietor/manager came and visited with us and was funny and kind.

Couldn't fault my experience . 5/6 small plates array of flavours . Even the sliders satisfied a fussy toddler

Bit of a hidden gem here. A really cosy and welcoming spot that also serves an excellent pint of Guinness.

Definitely one of Belfasts hidden gems. Food excellent and the service first class. It was our second time here and again impressed by the standard set by the current owners. We were served a six course tasting menu. A delight from all aspects both visually, taste and portion size. We both strongly recommend you try this place and I guarantee like ourselves you will be back.

We were here for a 30th and it was brilliant. The food and cocktails were top notch. Reasonably priced as well. The owner and staff were very nice and the atmosphere was great. Would highly recommend!

This is a lovely spot. Very friendly staff and lovely food. My only complaint would be there is no disabled access. They have steep dark stairs with no handrail to hold on to. Very dangerous.

Previously called Muldoons which was a real local bar. This new venture has a really good selection of food, great quality ingredients and all dishes are really flavoursome. Decent pint of Guinness too. Only a small place downstairs but there is also an upstairs. Very hip and happening in such a quiet part of the city and a busy spot too. Handy for the AC Marriott hotel and for all the workers in Clarendon Dock. Service was super too.

Our bolt hole in Belfast, I am minded to keep this to myself and not share the hidden gem that is Gnostic, that way I have more chance of getting a table here when I want it. Great food, drink and atmosphere, a credit to the management and staff.

We went here for a colleagues leaving lunch. Table booked for 9. We all had different dishes from the menu and everyone commented on the food being beautiful. I personally had squid and was so tender, just melted in your mouth. Was cooked perfectly and the taste was amazing. I also needed to get a bottle of their vodka called Back Yard. The most smoothest vodka and blows grey goose out of the water. I phoned through wanting to buy a bottle as part of the leaving present. Ben and Paul could not do enough to source me a bottle and made the lunch complete. All the staff are so pleasant and honestly the service is the best I have ever experienced. We all will be back and thank you all for making our lunch perfect. 👍👌

A real hidden gem. Amazing food served in an intimate setting. The staff couldn't be more professional and friendly. Cocktails are very well made with proper ingredients by a barman who knows his craft. 10/10

A great bar with friendly staff my Partner and I call in for a tea 🍵 and a couple of Guinness we enjoyed our time there and would recommend this time we did not have food but I believe that its very good if you get a chance call in and give it a go. 😊

Went here with a friend on Belfast Pride Day. A little out of the way but a quieter place on a Saturday. Had the steak sandwich. Its a little pricey at £12 for what you get which is a slice of ciabatta with steak, feta and leaves. I couldn't fault the quality though with chips on the side. So if you're expecting something more substantial, this isn't for you. The barman was pleasant as well and the place looks great.

Awful experience. Booked over the phone as I knew that some restaurants are not open on mondays, for my graduation dinner. She assured me that they were open and booked me in. Turn up on the night and they were closed leaving us not many options as lots of places were booked up. If it was a mistake I would have rathered a courtesy call to let me know instead of rushing through photos with my family to make it on time.

Good spot for a late lunch. Chilli squid was tasty. Chips very good.

Gnostic is our new favourite for food and cocktails. Classy decor good music and brilliant small plates. We had pork belly tacos, steak sandwich and squid/chorizo. The Daily Tot rum cocktail was amazing! Perfect new chilled cocktail bar.

Loved the decor, cocktails, food and wine. Near cathedral Quarter and big fish but slightly off the beaten track. Definitely worth finding. Manager is charming.

First time in Belfast, staying at the AC Hotel. I saw this place from my room window and decided to give it a try. Food was absolutely excellent. Small place. Bit of a hidden gem in my opinion.

My sister and I went today unsure of what to expect but can honestly say was so impressed by our greeting from Eugene our server and most accomplished cocktail maker to the best cuisine we have had in a long the Hake and Sea bass was cooked to perfection and as for the buffalo cauliflower that is a feast on its own cannot recommend this we gem off a place more highly

First time visiting. The food was really good and the staff really friendly. I think this is a perfect little find in Belfast. They have a range of cocktails, a great choice of spirits and coffees. Nicely decorated.

Cosy friendly staff TV on for rugby but not intrusive, we wanted to see match so happy days, but others there happy little snacks available as bar food or children sized. Wine good choices waiter knowledge good. Does a 25 pound botomless brunch on Sundays! I had prawn tacos other half lamb flat breads v tasty. Bi-fold doors and a new seating area to be built for summer will look good. Easy to find beside duredt wines, close to car parks and AC hotel.
