Meal out with friends, wasn’t too sure what we were walking into but wow the food was amazing. Definitely will be coming back. Would have been excellent had the welcome been more friendly

Went to Glor after reading about it in the paper. Small menu but difficult to choose as everything sounded good. We went for Ox Cheek and Preserved Cod to start and the Lamb and the beef brisket for main courses. All dishes were excellent, different flavors but delicious. Only down side was it was a bit cold in the restaurant, but otherwise really very very good. Something unusual but also really enjoyable, thanks Glor!

Called in one lunchtime to try. Certainly wasn't disappointed. Quite small inside, but we were given a friendly welcome. Drinks have to be purchased next door and brought in, no great hardship. My wife had the 'Wild Mushroom Kebab', she enthused about it all afternoon..I went for the 'Pork and Hop Sausage with Curried Potatoes'.. A good choice (although to be fair they all looked like they would be very good choices) Plenty of very tasty food on our plates, certainly good value. Apparently the menu changes monthly, can't wait to see what is on next months menu (although unfortunately that means we won't have been able to try everything on this months!!)

If I’d only been to Glør once I would definitely have given it a 5* review. My first visit was good. I had the Beer Brisket Sandwich with Frickles and Fermented Fried with Cheese. These were accompanied by the House Ketchup which was delicious. My friend had the Hot Dog but said she wished she’d had the Brisket Sandwich because mine looked so good. The Frickles were amazing too. So I took my husband because he was sick of hearing me talking about how good it was but my second visit was a bit disappointing. He had the Brisket Sandwich, I’d shown him a photo of it on Instagram and the crispy smoked potatoes looked amazing. I went for the Max Burger. His Brisket arrived with no crispy potatoes, just some fermented fried shoved on top and was in a different bun to the one I originally had. My Max Burger didn’t have the House Ketchup. I’d ordered Frickles and a portion of Fermented Fries with Cheese. What arrived was a portion of fries with pickles on top. I picked off the pickles because my husband hates them! I asked for some Ketchup to go with them and was told there wasn’t any, that explains why it was missing from my Burger, and was given some smoked beetroot pickle instead. Service isn’t great, on neither occasion were we offered desserts, I’ve seen photos so I know they exist, and both times we had to go up to the pass to ask for the bill. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good but inconsistent and it’s a bit of a pain having to go next door to get drinks.

I had the the max burger which was gorgeous, my wife had the smoked trout taco which she loved. With sides of fermented fries and a great slaw it was a really good meal. Definitely recommend.

Second visit to this new, very small restaurant. Had a delicious prawn dish with tomatoes, chilli and garlic, a half chicken dish and 'one of the best burgers I've ever had'. We also had some 'frickles' to start, basically fried pickles. I quite liked them as nibbles, others in the group weren't that bothered. The cooking of the main courses was very good. Bags of flavour was packed into some excellent sauces. Be sure to ask what your meal actually comes with as you will probably need to order some sides to go with your main. The chips are terrific. Some of the best you'll have out. Alcoholic drinks can be bought from the two neighbouring bars and you'll need to nip here for the toilets too. Music tip #2 (see previous review) how about getting some small quality speakers for the actual restaurant if you're going to have music on. Service is very good. We'll be back again. Cooking like this deserves to succeed.

My husband (who's had a burger or two in his time) says that the one he had today at Glor was one of the best he's ever had. Praise indeed! I has the most delicious smoked trout tacos, beautifully cooked and presented. The crispy beetroot was a revelation. Will be back to sample the other dishes on offer which all sounded delicious. Thanks Glor for a superb lunch.

Finally got around to going here, wish we had managed to visit earlier...it was delicious! Small menu of really delicious interesting plates. It’s not a starter, main and dessert type of dining, just a choice of plates. My only (suggestion) criticism would be that the dishes should be smaller so you can choose several to share but they are pretty substantial. We struggled what to order because everything sounded so good. We certainly loved what we did have. Can’t believe this place wasn’t packed on a Saturday evening, it so needs discovering by more foodies. The staff were so lovely too.

Second visit to Glør this week, can't recommend it highly enough. Menu changes monthly with the odd daily or weekly special. Beautifully cooked meat veg or seafood dishes with vegan options available and a very accommodating chef for those with specific dietary requirements. Not many tables however customers are free to order and take a seat next door in either the Alexandra or Lantern where the epic craft beer selection can be sampled - also works the other way too, eat in the restaurant and they'll bring round whatever beverage you fancy. Super casual but welcoming atmosphere; exactly the sort of place Halifax needs. A proper gem and they deserve every success. Can't wait to see what next month's menu looks like!

New place. Linked to The Lantern pub/gig venue on the same street. Had three slow-cooked brisket dishes and a quality burger. Only very small room at the moment with about 4/5 tables though they are expanding soon. I believe dishes are based around griddle/bbq cooking. The chef told us how he'd been getting up at regular intervals throughout the night to supervise the cooking of the delicious brisket. It was gorgeous. Accompaniments were some pickled veg and potatoes along with some sourdough with melted cheese. Might sound a bit odd but was nice and anyway the brisket was the star of the show. The burger came with some char siu pork on too. Again, very good. Drinks available too though I got a pint from The Lantern, a couple of doors down the street and walked back up with it. Service was good. Not a fan of the loud pop music coming from the very adjacent kitchen though. Well worth a visit for the brisket alone nonetheless.
