We stayed at the hotel for several days. Originally we were going to sample the local restaurants, but having eaten in on our first night, we decide otherwise. Thoroughly recommended!

We celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary last evening at Gliffaes with two very old friends. The weather and the setting were beautiful. The welcome we received was charming, our dinner was delicious and the service was both very professional and very friendly. I don’t think we could have chosen a better venue for such a special occasion.

We had the best Afternoon tea here! They even went to the trouble of making my fussy son something completely different haha. The staff were amazing and so attentive and the hotel and grounds themselves are stunning. We will definitely return.

This was the second time my husband and I have stayed at Gliffaes. The last time was pre-covid and we have been waiting a long time to have another luxury weekend away. Once again we have not been disappointed. The chef delighted us with a vegetarian menu last time and this time, as vegans, we were spoilt with the most delicious, thoughtful and creative menu. It the best vegan food we have ever had. Thank you Karl. The setting as you may read in more detail from other reviews is stunning. The hotel and it's grounds are tended to beautifully. We have been made to feel extremely welcome and all the staff have been attentive and provided that personal touch. Gliffaes is all you could want from a country hotel and we cannot wait to stay there again

Visited for afternoon tea, which is a buffet style, with a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and teas / coffee of high quality - don't be put off by the buffet label. We booked and notified of baby and 1 vegetarian. They reserved a lovely spacious area in a bay window opposite the log fire for the 3 of us; very relaxing atmosphere. Gave extra options for vegetarian and re-confirmed details / preferences. Great friendliness and attention to detail. Lovely looking grounds and stylish country house hotel. Recommended.

Stopped here en route to our hotel to have afternoon tea, which they were gracious enough to agree to even though we were not hotel guests. The setting is beautiful, gardens looked like they deserved a lovely ramble, but rain prevented that. Tea was brought to us in the sitting room, a fire was burning and furniture was comfortable, if obviously worn. Sandwiches and cakes were delicious, with one exception. The scones were so hard, I could not get through it with a fork. Nice tea, but over-priced at £20 pp.

As we arrived at this estate, my sister-in-law went inside to find out where to park, because the parking lot was full, and Gill, hostess, came outside to direct her where to park, the accessible entrance and told us if we needed any help to please let her know. We went inside and the place was absolutely beautiful and the afternoon tea was exquisite. We were enjoying our tea and scones when Gill came to our table to check on us and offered to bring more sandwiches and cakes to our table and if we wanted to later, she would give us a mini tour with the history. We took Gill up on her offer and it was very interesting - thank you Gill for that. I would recommend this afternoon tea experience and would return.

My family and I stayed 3 nights at this lovely old country manor in Brecon Beacons. The house and the grounds are beautiful - set upon the river, with sheep grazing the hillsides, bunnies hopping through the garden and flowers blooming at every place you set your eyes. The food was amazing - and the bar and wine list didn't miss a beat. Great staff and very helpful. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

Went to the Gliffaes Restaurant at the hotel with a group of 9 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Pre-dinner drinks in the conservatory overlooking the River Usk and the grounds of the hotel was a great start and the meal was equally excellent. First rate service, food and wine selection. Definitely a venue to head back to...

We visited recently for a birthday meal and several, of us felt it was the best meal we had had in many years. The hotel is always comfortable, welcoming and has a lovely ambience. The grounds are beautiful and worth spending time to look around. I had a crab and ale tartlet in a cheese sacerdotal to start with which was delicious. My main course was fish and beautifully presented with some creamed cabbage that was superb. The cheese board is always good but I didn’t have space for that so opted for a lemon tart that was very light and lemony. Lunches here are also a happy occasion .

When I booked to have afternoon tea with my husband the receptionist asked if we had any dietary requirements. I felt awkward saying I had a dairy intolerance whilst intending to tuck into a cream tea but the staff were amazing. Each sandwich was especially made and the cakes too, they also provided koko milk for my tea. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was delicious. I can’t praise them enough

Dropped in for a quick sandwich after a walk. Beautiful hotel, very welcoming staff and lovely food. Not a large menu but they did have a big party in another room so they were very busy. Even so, the service was fairly quick. We sat in the lounge as they were so busy and the atmosphere was lovely.

Excellent service, good food, house wine is reasonably priced and offers a good selection. Menu could proberly do with a change if you are stopping more than one night it becomes repetitive.

Myself and a colleague came to the Gliffaes for lunch on a beautiful, sunny July day. We voluntarily shared a terrace table with a gentleman who had been doing a spot of fishing, and the setting couldn't have been more perfect.

We ate here with a large group of people and the food was not particularly inspiring. We had fairly high expectations based on comments from people we know who had been here. We had a very good chef among our number and he was similarly non plussed. Doubt we will be back in a hurry.

Gliffaes is without doubt the best place for lunch in the Crickhowell area - it’s amazing that it’s not more popular, I just don’t think anyone knows about it. The setting is a traditional country house with immaculate grounds, and a long stretch of the Usk flowing through the valley below. The drive up gives great views and you are often dodging the pheasants as they run in front of the Car! One point to make, the menu is limited - it changes every day and the food is freshly cooked using traditional local produce, often from the estate or surrounding area. However, it is all very well cooked and always a vegetarian option etc. On Sundays there is always a good selection of traditional roast dinners, excellent cooking and traditional values of service and decency. An absolute must and my favourite place in South Wales.

Sunday lunch out. Food was very well cooked and presented. Price was ok due to the high quality of the food. Decent amount of drink options but only 1 ale. Very friendly staff, clean premises and if the weather is good, plenty of out door seating. Dog and child friendly. We didn't camp there but the facilities looked good and quite cheap.

Whilst I usually promote Deli-Licious as a good place to go if you have a Gluten Free (GF) diet, I was recently disappointed by their GF afternoon tea. I was pleased to hear they offered a GF afternoon tea but was left feeling let down by the poor selection and presentation. The normal afternoon tea was presented on either a picnic bench or a three tiered serving stand, mine was just put on a plate with no effort to make it look like everyone else’s in the group, making me feel like an outcast. At a cost of £16.95, it certainly wasn’t value for money.
