This was an added cruise port on a Sunday and pretty much everything was closed. We stumbled upon The Gleesons Public House and had a few pints and sang some karaoke. The staff was friendly and the beer was cold. They made the day!

Holyhead Wales does not have a lot to do in it, so like others from our cruise ship we visited this Public House and enjoyed a pint. The atmosphere in here is most welcoming. Enjoy!

A better friendlier pu you won’t find in Holyhead , those that give a bad review in my opinion wouldn’t know a good pub if they fell over one

It’s been along time coming but the new NORMAL took another step forward , the rear garden bar is stunning a BIG heads up to Sandra and TEAM GLEASON’s for all their hard-work getting the garden bar ready for today’s opening . 👏👏🏆💪🍻🎉🍻🍻👏👏

Gleesons pub has got that unique atmosphere that you ONLY find in Holyhead, the place where the ferry to Dublin leaves from: a mixture of Welsh and Irish! Great drinks at a great price, and of course lots of fun with the staff, the regulars and the tourists...

Rather average UK pub. Cask ales are advertised but very limited selection. Mostly the usual mass produced commercial beers. Friendly staff. Overall nothing special. Whould not repeat.

When were in town we always pop in the Gleesons , a well run bar with Sandra as the captain of ship. Attentive staff all your favourite tipples behind the bar and TV screens for sporting events. Good luck to Sandra and staff for 2020 - happy new year 🎊🎈 🥃

Amazing place! My cousin an I had the pleasure of waiting out the Ferry there. The bartenders were incredibly nice and friendly. The service was great and we happened to be there on a Wednesday, which is Karaoke night. Some singers were better than others but overall best last night in Wales!! Definitely check it out if you can.

The poet R.S. Thomas (who grew up in Holyhead) described it as the place "where pebbledash came home to die." Walking around the centre of the town leaves you in no doubt that this port town has seen better days, and the local council need a monumental kick up the you-know-what for their consistent failure over the past two decades to be more proactive in promoting and developing the town. Nonetheless, there is still one very good reason to come to Holyhead: Gleeson's pub on Stanley Street. Here is character in bundles, a warm welcome, well-kept cask-conditioned beer (as well as good Guinness), and none of the anti-social behaviour you find some other places I could mention. The people who run this pub care about what they do - and their customers. I have been in several times when visitors from different parts of Europe have been treated like one of the family. If you are travelling to Ireland by ship, or spending time elsewhere in North Wales, plan to spend an evening here. You will not regret it.

About the only place left on the Island with out wifi. It needs it a phone signal not very good in the area.

This place still has some character left, is friendly and usually has a couple of cask ales on (one of the few places locally which do).

Lots of fun to be had in Gleesons, we visited from Holland and were pleasantly welcomed by the landlady, Sandra. She was very helpful and friendly, as well as being a fun person whilst simultaneously running the pub. Can't reccomend it enough for a nice evening out.

Possibly not the most attractive exterior you've ever seen, however on the several occasions we have called in we've been made extremely welcome by staff and other customers. Give it a try

Only three words are needed to sum up this gem of a pub " fan tas tic " !!!!!!! Firstly I have to say that Sandra the landlady is very welcoming and runs a very tight ship. She is ably supported by great staff and the whole operation is overseen in a more executive role by Colin. They have created a real 'home from home' with a very lively set of typical Holyhead locals. This is how pubs used to be with excellent banter ripping through the place. One previous comment stated that there were no real ales, but obviously they did not look very far as three were on offer last week. The regular karaoke is known to be the best on the island with Gav controlling these events with consummate skill. (Not sure that Burlesque is a true karaoke winner though). YOU MUST TRY THIS PUB OUT, AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK SANDRA,COLIN AND TEAM.

Ok for Holyhead, but that's not saying much. Generic beer, no cask or real ale. Not worth a second visit or even second pint.

Called in for a light lunch as it is my partners’ birthday. Had the seafood platter to share. We were told no taramasalata available and they replaced it with mackerel pate which was lovely. However one of the main components of the platter was a mix of ?prawns/ crayfish and crab I think it was. It tasted odd and smelt bad like old socks. I thought it was my imagination to begin with until my partner said don’t eat any more I think it’s off.. it was also a strange colour. The smell was quite strong. We ate everything else. We told the waitress when she came to collect the plates and said she would tell the chef. We went to the till to pay ( half expecting the chef would have come out to apologise, but he didn’t). The waitress said sorry for that and charged us the full amount ( approx £35 for the platter and two lattes). Very disappointing and I’m afraid we will never call again ( we are also fairly local).

Visited on Saturday 3rd June 2023. First visit and very happy. Nice pub with great views if you sit outside, delicious food and helpful, friendly staff. Truffled rarebit on toast and Fish Finger bun (home made Fish Fingers) both amazing. Will absolutely eat here again.

Overpriced pub food. Left waiting for drinks and desserts. Would not eat here again. Disappointed !!! Had to keep going to the bar to ask where our food was.
