Giuseppe's Italian Bistro in Gateshead

Finally visited Guiseppe's and I wasn't disappointed. Small friendly restaurant and the food was great quality. Pasta cooked perfectly and sauce full of fresh flavour. Will definitely be visiting again.

We’ve been coming to Giuseppe’s Italian Bistro in Kibblesworth since its very first week. Though we’ve since moved from the village, it’s still our favorite place to celebrate special occasions. This week we visited to celebrate my Mum's upcoming birthday, and once again, Giuseppe and his team made us feel right at home. Giuseppe greeted us warmly, chatting with us like old friends and making my Mum feel truly celebrated. It’s amazing how he remembers my son, who was only ten when we first came, and now nearly 16. The food was, as always, delicious, generous, and beautifully presented. The staff are always friendly, engaging, and make the experience feel so relaxed and enjoyable. As a fellow bistro owner, I have such admiration for the dedication Giuseppe and his team put into creating such a welcoming environment. We always enjoy our time here and look forward to every visit. Highly recommended!

Visited here tonight for a date night. Nice and quiet at 6 pm, did get busier after this. The food was very good. Attentive staff, tasty food, and good atmosphere. Good choice of Cocktails, wine, and beer. All are reasonable priced as well. Will definitely return.

Excellent food, made to order, homemade fresh ingrediants and cooked in an oven not a microwave like most Italians around this area which are not run by Italians and buy in their food from a catering company, they all have the same food and menus! This restaurant is authentic and run by Italians, I tell you it makes a difference, the restaurant is small but has a rustic feel, the decor could be posher but the service is very good and the prices are very reasonable, good value for your money. Overall though, the food is what you would go here for, my pasta was fresh and beautifully cooked, it was excellent - the Tiramisu was just Yum!

Small restaurants are usually ok but rammed with little seats close together so very uncomfortable seating, owner seemed patronising and sarcastic, you shouldn't be over familiar with customers like slimey ! food salty and overpriced , im sure he ran to the shop to get my bottle of beer and added 2 quid to that .

Family down from Scotland took them for evening meal, we were all impressed with the friendliness of mine host, the service was very good and the food was excellent. We all agreed that this was the best Italian's we've been to. Nothing was the bother for Giuseppe with his bubbly nature, definitely going back again and recommend to friends and relatives 👍

Stumbled across this little gem after visiting durham donkey rescue! Food is incredible! lots of interesting dishes not just standard Italian dishes yiu find in italian chains. Can't wait to return. Had spicy Italian sausage with gnocchi and my son had Prawn and chorizo pasta, both were really tasty. Beautiful bistro with lovely atmosphere 😍

The perfect little Italian bistro. Stunning authentic cooking. We often go for a family meal. The kids love it and so do we. The menu isn't huge, (which I like), and everything we've had has been incredible. Simple flavours, cooked exceptionally well. The pizza is a traditional Neapolitan thin style, really tasty, but for me the pasta is the real star of the show. Just gorgeous. Make sure to leave room for Tiramisu. You don't want to miss that.

After a recommendation from my partner who goes very often to this restaurant, I tried it myself and can confirm that this place is a little gem!! An authentic Italian restaurant, with high quality food and a nice, homely and friendly service. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wanted to taste real, amazing Italian food!

1st visit last Saturday afternoon and was very disappointed. The restaurant looked tired and outdated, marks on walls, unpolished cutlery. My pizza looked like it had been thrown together by a child. Will not be returning...

Giuseppe's restaurant is not just brilliant for it's delicious food but for the warm, welcome and family atmosphere Giuseppe himself creates which makes you want to return again and again. If you've been a few times then you will be remembered and treated like an extended member of the family, which is beautiful to watch the interactions of the community with Giuseppe when dining. There is not one meal that we have had which has been anything less than exceptional but I must pay particular note to the arancini and italian meatballs/Ragu - simply stunning. Portion sizes are generous, even those dishes available for Happy Hour, so you will not be disappointed. We will be returning at our next opportunity!

I have been meaning to visit Giuseppe's for a long time now and what im disappointed in was not going sooner! The food was absolutely amazing, i ordered Burrata Bruschetta and wow 👌🏽 I definitely will be ordering that again. My son ordered the calamari which was lightly battered and soooo nice. We ordered a pizza and pasta and they again were cooked perfectly. Giuseppe thank you for a lovely night and for looking after us, we will be back real soon. Much love, the Buzzeo's ❤️

first time last night with the family, it was suggested by a family friend and a top suggestion it was, everything about it was welcoming, a top spot with top food, they say all the best things come in small bundles, this place is just the right size to be able to enjoy the whole experience, I will 100% be going back soon Grazie millie Giuseppe, ci vediamo la prossima volta fratello Coming back to leave another review for Giuseppe and he’s made my daughter’s day, it won’t let me leave a second review for some reason so I’ve had to edit the first one. 11 out of 10. Evening out for my birthday with my family but was very disappoi nted . My parents are elderly and the noise of the other customers was loud so it was difficult to talk to each other so it was impossible to hear once the restaurant owner put the TV sound on very loudly . I asked him if he could turn the sound off and just leave the picture and he turned it down slightly but it was still very loud . I felt he was being sarcastic asking me a few time about the sound . My pizza was very burned and he asked me a few times if it was OK which it obviously wasn't but I ate it anyway as it was getting late and he was the only member of staff on and service was slow. I feel if I had wanted to listen to football I would have gone to the pub not a restaurant . I won't be going back .

Went for a meal out with family, garlic bread was the best I had ever had. Giuseppe was incredibly kind and was full of energy the whole night. With only a few tables, the atmosphere was perfect, and the Italian-Albanian Euros match was on during the meal, so we got to hear them all cheering during the meal, which added another layer of fun to the already great meal. 10/10 would happily go again. I complimented Giuseppe's car and he offered to show me it. He was very chatty and made us feel very welcome. Overall, incredible food, staff and atmosphere. Thank you Giuseppe!

We called in this afternoon (11th June) after recommendations from friends and were not disappointed. We shared a cheese and pesto garlic bread. Then my husband had a pepperoni pizza - huge, thin base beautiful. I had the seafood ravioli in a seafood sauce - thin ravioli, plenty of filling and lots of sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed everything (we always taste each others). One of the best things about the place though is Guiseppe himself. He was very chatty and made us feel so welcome and will definitely go again.

Tried this place for the first time for lunch. Very friendly service, reasonable prices, and impressive food. Very bold flavours, something a lot of 'chain' restaurants are afraid of. Looking forward to trying more of the menu in the future

One of the best Italian restaurants in the area! With it being a small, all of the tables were full meaning the atmosphere was fab. The food and service was great. There was 6 of us plus a baby. The staff couldn't of been more helpful with the kids. Very authentic food. We will certainly be back!

Giuseppe is a star, a legend. The nicest, most genuine, most welcoming host. Classically Italian (he even had his mama over visiting and in the kitchen when we were there!). Food is great, you can't go wrong

We recently went to Giuseppe’s with our friends and had a wonderful evening with gorgeous food, cocktails a great atmosphere! The food is simply delicious-so authentic and unlike your average Italian. A real taste of Italy! The staff are friendly and attentive and I can’t recommend this little gem enough.

We went for a birthday dinner last night after reading about how good this place was and we were not disappointed at all. Booked a table for myself and my wife, as a nice change. We'd been here once before pre lockdown and the food was very nice. The food, service and atmosphere were also equally as good this time. Wow, just wow!!!!!! Absolutely georgous in every way and form. We have never enjoyed an Italian as much as this, can not recommend enough, its a must if your in the area. What a gent who runs it too, bent over backwards for us, I asked for a tomato based sauce to be changed to creamy and boy did it taste good, empty plates all round.

Had an amazing late lunch with my fiance who has food allergies & intolerance's (gluten free & lactose free) there was nothing on the menu that she could eat so Giuseppe had the chef make her something specially. He then said next time to ring ahead and they would make sure she was catered for... Can't ask for anymore than that. We will definitely be going back was delicious ❤️

We were at giuseppes last night for the first time as recommended by a family friend with family ,we were greeted as if we had been there lots of times food no fault whatsoever was lovely Made us feel so welcome definitely be back when a little warmer The only thing I would say is at times we could smell hot oil and food but still give 5 stars Thank you giuseppe

Came here over a week ago for my gransons birthday. The food was amazing and we were all made very welcome. It was lovely how they included the children to make their own pizzas. Would deffo reccomend and we will be returning thank you to Guiseppe and your staff

Lovely food but did not get garlic bread with main meal as we had asked. Had to ask for it again and came when meal was finishef

Food was really good and everything coming out of the kitchen looked fab, staff were very welcoming, only downside was it was a bit cold, to be fair it was minus 3 outside but the restaurant could have been warmer. Will definitely go back but when the weather is less cold.

Spent my birthday dinner at Giuseppe’s restaurant and it turned out to be a familia reunion! He’s such a heart warming person with passion. He treated me and my bf as good friends and even showed us his gf- the blue vintage car outside his restaurant, all the way from Italy! We had a wonderful chat and laughs. Food were absolutely amazing and not overpriced. Desserts was of course delicious. Thank you so much for the second to none hospitality and the passion of Italian food! We’re so proud of you and it’s great to meet Giuseppe.

May need to book for evening meal as this bistro is becoming more popular. Good food and service. Family friendly. Pushchair and wheelchair access with ramp at front door. The starters and mains are consistently good. Limited choice of desserts. Rarely disappointed when I eat here. My only criticism would be that it can be cold in the winter, especially if you arrive early evening.

I simply can't recommend this restaurant enough. The food is amazing and there is such a great, friendly and relaxed atmosphere when sitting in. Giuseppe is such a friendly and caring guy too! Please, please go - you will have an amazing time and come out stuffed!

The most authentic Italian food I've ever had outside of Naples! 🇮🇹 It was our first visit tonight and we were extremely impressed. I had the arancini starter, which was very authentic, followed by pizza Napoli - the dough was very fresh, crispy and light and the marinara sauce tasted so fresh. Even though it was a rainy night in Gateshead it tasted like we were in Italy! One of the best meals I've had in ages. The portion sizes were generous, and we were made to feel very welcome. I can't wait to return!

Went here tonight for the first time and it certainly won’t be the last. What a fantastic find. The food was AMAZING, the service EXCEPTIONAL and the owner was LOVELY and takes immense pride in the marvellous little bistro he has created. Can’t wait to return. 💗

We are working away in Alnwick, one week on one week off, from Manchester and after about the second visit we were sick off getting burger kings from service stations on the way home. So one of the lads searched good Italian food off the A1 and we found Giuseppe’s. What a good move! My Mrs is Italian, me not, but I understand good Italian food from loads of trips there. Now these guys drop the good stuff! We now go every other week on the way home and look forward to it. For life is the journey! He’s not far at all off the A1 in Gateshead and when you say no to all out consumerism/convenience you can discover the real little Gems in life and this is one 👍🏽 Great guys, great food, positive energy!

Beautiful authentic Italian bistro in the heart of Kibblesworth. We came here randomly for a lunch date and were thoroughly impressed with the delicious goat’s cheese lasagne and the Linguine Carbonara dishes. The richness and mouthwatering goat’s cheese lasagne with asparagus, grilled vegetables and fiori di latte was unforgettable!! The owner, Giuseppe and his chef are incredibly welcoming and lovely to chat with. We’ll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great spot for a date or a family meal out x

Been here a few times now and previously forgot to leave a review. Went again tonight as a party of 10 with a 6 year old and an 11 month old. Honestly the service is amazing and the most friendly restaurant around. The food is without a doubt the best you will get from any Italians locally. I’ve been to others that are lovely but Giuseppe’s is just the best one going. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

What a little gem. Giuseppe 's is fantastic. It's intermate , fun and a relaxing place to eat. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are amazing and a lot of fun. We are from out of town and found this place just by chance. We will definitely be visiting this little gem again when we are out this way.

We went for food as a family and as my children will only eat certain foods and I can’t have dairy. They were really helpful when I asked if the dish I wanted was dairy free. Giuseppe grazie mille per questa fantastica serata! Vanavond hebben we heerlijk met zijn tweeën gegeten bij Giuseppe. De sfeer was heel ontspannen en vrolijk, we werden goed geholpen en Giuseppe weet een glimlach bij iedereen op het gezicht te toveren. We hebben een van de lekkerste pizza's ooit gegeten, en mochten we weer eens in de buurt zijn, dan gaan we hier zeker langs!

This is a fantastic place with such a friendly owner, Giuseppe. Second to none customer service and superb menu and food. My wife and I loved everything we had and came back a few days later with my son who is a really picky eater. However he cleared his plate and loved his starter and Pizza. We all loved our food. We will be making this our regular eatery.
