I would not recommend the minestrone soap, it too salty 🤢, a part from that the pizzas are great to eat.

This is local to my son and his wife so when he booked it had no preconception of what it is like. It was very busy with a very large party upstairs with us, but we were served promptly and efficiently. The food was great with all choosing different starters all of which were excellent, mains again all different including veal, seafood pasta and pizzas all very good. Would have given 5 stars but the staff need to smile more and engage! Wont stop us coming back though.

very bad pizza dough ! small pizza and very high price,, I'm a pizza eater! but I couldn't eat it, the dough looked fried, very nauseating! if it was at the restaurant, I would have asked for money back, but I ordered

Dined here for a family visit in March and we have also dined here on many occasions. The food is consistently excellent whatever we have chosen to eat. We find the staff polite,efficient without being overbearing. This restaurant is extremely clean and nicely set out and the toilets are also extremely clean and modern ...the best we have found when visiting North London. We have enjoyed each and every visit over the year's so well done to all of the staff..looking forward to dining with you again very soon.

Wow the restaurant is very nice, it’s clean, the staff are very friendly and helpful they go the extra mile to make sure everyone is catered for we had two large tables upstairs, the food is outstanding, the prices are very reasonable highly recommended.

Wow what a lovely restaurant. The ambience and layout clearly had a lot of thought when designing the interior. Beautiful décoré. The the waiting staff were attentive, but not intrusive. Delicious food. Just the right portion size. Highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you - will definitely be back.

Perfect Melanzane and Linguini con vongole, my go to dishes. Also my partners Lasagne had perfect amount of Ragu and homemade pasta was Al dente, not covered in gallons of bechamel slop. Decent chianti aswell

So visited this tremendous restaurant yesterday , all the dishes were excellent steak and veal chops cooked to perfection . Great selection of “specials” all food was fresh and served with a smile . I do a lot of eating in some great Italian restaurants in the West End and this restaurant certainly is up there with the best . I will be back and recommending to friends and family .

We came here for the first time. Staff were miserable and when I asked for a recommendation, he just shrugged. Ordered the mushrooms to share as a starter. They were a bit tangy and the cheese was too strong. Pizzas were tough and bland. Don’t waste your money. I am sure there are nicer places to eat!

We ordered 2 starters of pasta and a main of pizza to share. All brought out together, pizza taken away to 'keep warm', brought back later, not very nice, chewy. Also ordered a pizza to take away. Overcharged on one of the pasta dishes, ie main course pasta charge, instead of starter portion and 10% service charge included on whole bill, including the takeaway pizza. Not good service, food was 'average'. We have been here several times and have had better food and service, but this has certainly put me off visiting again.

We live locally and had been to Giovannis's and long while back not long after it opened, revisiting after the lockdown experience we were disappointed and annoyed that an independent restaurant is not better. The restaurant makes nice pizza in a gas fired oven that you can see from some tables, making quite a spectacle. As an independent Italian restaurant it is the sort of thing that should exemplify Winchmore Hill. The pizzas are good and worth getting, and they are so large that you wont need anything else. The restaurant will also box up any uneaten pizza for you to have the next day. Sadly the restaurant has had to take the Deliveroo dollar like many in lockdown, on a Saturday night with a takeaway, delivery and restaurant service - it all gets very slow. It took nearly 2 hours for our main courses to come with no recognition of this being unusual or regrettable from the staff. Several reviewers have commented on the service and it is sad to say that they are correct. It is not that the service is bad, it just lacks anything that would make it good. The staff seem to greet customers known to them like long lost friends (which may well be the case and fully understandable) however the rest of us feel like make-weights or cash generators. The service is slow because the kitchen is overwhelmed and whilst not unfriendly lacks empathy and the personal touch. What is disappointing and annoying is that this makes it easy for the chains to overtake restaurants like this and price them out - this is not what anyone living in Winchmore Hill wants to see. Hire some younger service staff and double the pizza capacity at peak times and we will come back.

Been here a few times and the pizza is nice, the pasta has been very hit and miss - has been very bland on one occasion and on the other the squid in the seafood pasta was rock solid. On a separate occasion the calamari was terrible too - would be much nicer if they could properly cook squid

Pizza had a solid sturdy base and was tasty enough. Nice cheese and sauce with strong flavour from the spicy salami. Overall lacking a bit of oomph with the sauce maybe? Crust/dough could have done with more flavour too

Had a lovely family meal to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Gorgeous food and great service. Especially liked the lobster linguini. This is our go to place for a lovely meal!

An amazing evening! Service top notch with great humour. Everyone of us loved our starter, main course and desert & excellent house red & white. Lovely touch with complimentary limoncello! Service added to bill and we added an extra £10 as easier for calculation and well deserved extra. We loved Vincenzo !!

Weekday evening and pretty quiet, staff seemed a tad uninterested, food was mediocre- bruschetta bread tasted stale and burnt, and wasn’t hot. Crab linguine barely had a tomato to be seen and lacked flavour. This is the second time I’ve been here and not sure I’ll be rushing back. When I pay for food I expect it to taste better than I cook as it’s a treat going out, but unfortunately this fell short. I didn’t feel the vibe of being glad to be open again! Maybe they are just getting into the swing of things again, but to be fair, they should have had plenty of time to get the act together

we ordered two pizzas for take away, when we arrived home we realised that one of the pizzas was not what we wanted, they gave us another pizza instead of the one we wanted. Both pizza dough tasted like sugar, and the consistency of the pizza and the mozzarella were like gum! I am disgusted by this experience, if you love pizza don’t order there, you will be very disappointed!!

I got a pizza on delivery and it was very poor. Dough was undercooked. Really unenjoybaleSecond poor quality takeaway I've had from here in the last few months.I assume the owners or chef has changed because the food didn't used to be like this.

Después de una comida muy agradable con mi esposa un sábado por la tarde tranquila una semana antes, cuando le di al camarero una buena propina y reservé el restaurante para una comida familiar allí y luego para 7 personas para el jueves siguiente. Confirmé un par de días antes de la visita, pero luego recibí una llamada telefónica un par de horas antes de la visita diciendo que estaban completos y que todavía asistíamos. El tipo fue muy grosero y corto en el teléfono, así que llamé y cancele y reservé Rimini's en su lugar, donde tuvimos una comida y un servicio encantador como siempre.

Been coming to Giovanni’s for years and always a good experience. I won’t eat pizza from anywhere else! (also have to mention - absolutely love the fresh handmade spinach and ricotta ravioli from chef!) - a must try!

My wife ordered the lasagne on the basis that any Italian restaurant worth its salt must be able to make a good lasagne. Sadly it contained no bechamel sauce and the cheese made it very heavy and stodgy. My wife didn't want to make a fuss but left most of the dish. I discretely pointed out to the waiter that the lasagne was not good but nothing was done about it. We were still charged for it. Our total bill was around £300 so knocking off the price of the lasagne would have been appropriate and appreciated.

I’ve been here twice and both times had excellent food. Carbonara isn’t something I’d usually order but the first time I went my friend had it and it was amazing. I had it the second time and it was by far the best carbonara I’ve ever eaten. The service was quick and really friendly and prices are extremely reasonable! Great wine and also allow you to take away any leftovers. Definitely going back!

Disappointing and disgusted Few weeks back we visited the restaurant and walked in without a booking.They found us a table which had pizza crust on the floor and the bold head waiter kicked it near the table base.Ordered and everything came together after 40min, so disappointing considering they knew we wanted the salad & starters first!Found out that my sister did’t order steak but in the end she decided to have it ...I had the hump even more after noticing that she did’t eat it ..and the reason was because all the blood under the steak.I’m sorry but this is not acceptable.In the end to make it worst the manager presented us a incorrect bill and we had to leave considering that no one attended to give us back the difference.Also on Saturday evening my younger brother coming over had stopped and collected two pizzas from them .. i did’t say anything and wanted to have a slice but the toppings came up while the soggy pizza base was stuck on the cardboard pizza box!!!It’s annoying considering that their prices are not the cheapest and their food quality has dropped. Won’t suggest to my friends or family and everyone else can decide for themselves.

What an experience. Pizza was soggy. Cheese was factory. Gnocchi was unpalatable and daughter left most of that meal. I couldn't even eat a quarter of pizza. Shall never go there again..

Tan pronto como estuviste sentado en tu mesa, pudiste sentir cuán increíblemente caliente estaba la temperatura en el restaurante para acompañar el ruido increíblemente fuerte de los comensales que estaban hablando. Esto fue muy bueno y disfruté la comida, aunque no se ofreció el queso parmesano y no lo seguí. Ensaladas mixtas también se ordenaron junto con lados de chips. Las ensaladas mixtas eran inadecuadas y anodinas incluso después de haber sido vestidas. ¿Cómo puedes conseguir algo así tan mal? Las papas fritas estaban igual de mal - pre-empacadas y sabían igual - además de estar condimentadas con sal. Me temo que el restaurante se defraudó por estos lados.En general, disfruté de la ternera Escalope y no puedo criticar este plato en absoluto. Los entrantes eran buenos, pero los lados eran pobres. El servicio fue relativamente bueno teniendo en cuenta que el restaurante estaba prácticamente lleno y, como ya se mencionó, era extremadamente ruidoso, no esperes un ambiente relajante, no lo conseguirás aquí. Had a lovely lazy Sunday lunch in here, beer nice and cold, pizza good crisp base. Very kid friendly, deffo going again.

Visited this restaurant for the first and last time last night. Tables are so tightly packed you can hear everyone's conversation.

Have eaten here for many years, also, can collect takeaway. Beautiful refurbishment, thanks to Anita's creative eye. Pizza is fab, light and crispy dough, as is the pasta and the fish which we tend to go for. Calamari Fritti ...so light, lovely tartar sauce. Had mains Tuna Siciliana this time, tuna cooked rare, to perfection, delicious. Compliments to the chef ! All mains come with a side order of vegetables included in the price, really good value for money.

First visit since the refurb and the layout is now a lot better and not as tight. The food remains good value for money and the service, as always, is top drawer. Friday nights and weekends you really need to book so as to not be disappointed. Keep up the good work

We live locally and have dined at this restaurant several times both before and after the refurbishment, always been happy with the quality of food. I've never left a review before but today we dined with 3 other families who haven't visited before and really enjoyed their food. Very reasonably priced and good quality food, nice ambience. I had fish as a main course and apple crumble for dessert. Really good and very fresh. Those that had pizza and pasta enjoyed their food also. Service very good too.

It was nice to go somewhere on Valentine’s Day and have the opportunity to order from a huge a la carte and not forced to choose from a stupid set menu.

Our first visit since the extension and refurbishment and it is definitely a great improvement. It was pretty full last night, creating a good buzzy atmosphere. Perhaps not the place, at least not on a Friday night, if you wanted a quiet romantic meal, but we enjoyed the lively feel about the place.

The walls, ceilings, floor and tables are all hard shiny surfaces, so when it starts filling up with customers there is no chance of having a conversation. Food and service are OK.

Didn’t cater for dairy intolerance customers,no gluten free or soya milk,had to ask for bread twice, 2 of the mains ordered were burnt and a flattened piece of chicken was so small with a bit of sauce covering side dish of small chopped up roast potatoes like bullets, I did say that they were bad to the waiter he said well you’ve eaten them! I said I was hungry!! Also I’m sorry but a pet hate is a waiter chewing gum and serving me !not a nice experience and rather pricey and asking for a service charge!! Asked for a certain drink didn’t have it.

I have visited this establishment three times now since it's extension and refurbishment and happily I cannot find any criteria of fault. Received a warm welcome each visit. The service was efficient and friendly. I've had the fritto misto di pesce all three times (one of my favourites) lightly battered as it should be, served up with a generous portion of homemade tartare sauce. Lobster linguini was good, seafood linguini was good and on my recent visit I tried the Seafood Pizza with mozza as is my want. It was excellent. Lovely crispy base,puffy edges and a decent size from a wood fired oven as it should be.

Pizza was freshly baked with good quality ingredients. Ask for the pizza to be cooked extra other wise it arrives a bit soggy.. this time the pizza was cooked perfectly but on our last visit pizza needed extra cooking.. service is ok

I ordered lasagne, carbonara pasta and pizza with pineapple. Pizza was nice, taste. Carbonara and lasagne not really.... taste was not bad but look when we opened those containers.... Maybe well be back for pizza but not for pasta..

My big sister decided we should go here for lunch, we both had and amazing pizza and a drink for £6.90, welll worth the price, people around us had pasta dishes same price looked amazing. Would definitely go again.

Largo establecido restaurante italiano en Southgate, muy popular para fiestas así se pone muy ruidoso, especialmente en los fines de semana. Excelente comida como he comido allí muchas veces a lo largo de los años. También los costes de las ofertas en la junta, ya que puede ser muy caro. Es probable que encontrar un plato similar en el menú principal para más barato.

We used to love this restaurant when the previous owners ran it as a friendly authentic eaterie with great food, generous portions and an appreciation for their clientele.Unfortunately after a number of visits since being under new management I have to say I have come away more disappointed with each visit. On a recent visit ordered calamari for starters at £9.00. When I questioned if there'd been a mistake with the portion size in view of the price-I honestly thought they'd brought me a child's portion, I was told "no that's the size of the portion". Rather than see a satisfied customer by adding a few more calamari to justify the cost of the dish it was a case of like it or lump it so I decided to lump it and skipped the starter.My husband ordered calzone and it came with a bland tomato sauce poured over the top, never seen this before, definetly not an Italian thing. Pizza menu has been scaled down to what is basically cheese and tomato with the addition of another ingredient for each pizza, not much variety. (Not sure where the owners are from but food not very authentic)Everything about this once laid back pizzeria has gone to be replaced with tasteless food, mean portions and an unfriendly service and atmosphere.

I travelled from Toronto, Canada to London, England just to surprise my Mom on her 70th Birthday...and we celebrated at Giovanni - my Mom's favorite place.The food was excellent, the service impeccable and with that Italian flair everyone loves. I recommend this friendly place for any occasion! Can't wait to go back there...My complements to Anita and her team, especially Ania.Thank you for such a memorable evening.

Ate here, delicious and....definitely recommended. Very good value for a tasty dinner. Did call ahead as one of the party is vegan, was told on telephone that couldn't be catered for, at all...which was a bit disappointing as most places can at least rustle a half decent salad, if nothing else. On arrival, the extremely attentive waiter, who was fab, went out of his way to assist the vegan and another at our table with advice and help about the food. All was well in the end!

Many restuarants are fine with service and staff are helpful, although at times they because we were at the top of the stairs they would constantly come up to check things were ok. I'm not sure showing the football is what I wanted for a semi romantic dinner!The service is good, but where this restuarant suffers is the food. The pizzas are bland, have no imagination and you may as well just be eating the bread. The sauce of the chicken seemed to come straight out a cheap packet from the corner shop - Maybe it did!The only real plus was the low alcohol wine, this was excellent, but the food needs to be improved.

Tried this Italian Pizzeria/Restaurant, which had been recommended to us. Booked up, but was not full, even if reasonably busy.I have to say that my partner & I found the food and place somewhat average. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either. Could have been just about any ordinary Italian restaurant in a high street. We had a small dish of garlic bread as starters, then a spaghetti bolognese and carbonara, which were both somewhat basic, a Peroni beer each, then desserts. All of which were ok.The service was good, the restaurant a little noisy, with a Tv also showing Italian football, to distract a few customers. Pricing was average.Not really a memorable visit and therefore unlikely to return unless in the area.

We visit this restaurant regularly but the portions are getting smaller and smaller. Last Saturday we went for an evening meal the food was good but the portions are so small since new owners have taken over. Shame this reflects on the food, service was ok.

Lovely food but felt like waiter really didn't want to serve us. He was really happy and cheerful with all the other customers and as soon as came to our table, he literally wouldn't even smile. We were waiting ages for him to come over to our table even after we'd caught his attention. We feel that he really ruined the mood and unfortunately we will not be eating here again.

We have avoided this restaurant for a few years, as last time we were here, it was awful, the owner was rude, food tasteless and overall experience wasn't good.A few of us visited this restaurant in August , unbeknown to us that this restaurant has been under new management for a couple of years !! What a difference - the staff were lovely, the food exceptional and the owner Anita is such a breath of fresh air, in the poorly run restaurants in north london.The quality of the food was amazing, from the tomatoes to the Palma ham, none of that cheap, industrial food you often get, they obviously take time and effort choosing their producers.So nice to spend an evening in here, drinking nice wine and eating great food - you would feel you are in somewhere like Tuscany being in here, with the ambiance and decor !The wine list is also well thought out, exceptional quality and value - it does seem that they are passionate about the food and drink that they serve their customers.Since our initial visit we have been back to the restaurant on two occasions and the same high standards have been metWe have also had a couple of pizza takeaways when down visiting friends - our preference was always fantozzi pizza, however this place beats them hands down !! And pizzas are cheaper here !!Place always seems busy, so maybe best to book in advance Hopefully they keep to their ethos of delivering quality food and drink at very reasonable prices !!Can't wait for our next visit !

This place never disappoints- we visit regularly and the fish is the freshest ever. Their mixed fish is especially good. A real classic Italian family friendly restaurant. Never change!

Four of us, two couples, were in the mood for pizza and were not disappointed in Giovanni's...it was delicious!

My husband frequently get take always from Giovanni's - we are always very happy with the quality of the food and very reasonably priced.

We went for a dinner midweek. It was quiet and very homely. Great customer service. The food was good and fresh but i would say don't order their meat dishes with bread crumbs/ fried! We took a house wine and it was exceptionally good for the price. We will definitely go back again.

Enjoyed the food, great service, value for money. The food is always freshly made and served in a very short time. Pizzas are my favourite my husband always had the seafood pasta because he enjoyed it so much. This is our family meeting point. Keep up the good work.

A regular haunt of ours (family of 4, 2 young kids) for weekend lunches, staff are always very friendly and accommodating. The menu is consistent, offering a nice range of freshly baked pizza (watching this from your table is actually quite fun!), pasta, meat and fish, along with some specials. Food is always very tasty so no complaints on that front. Service is quick which is something we like with our two young kids. Very relaxed and you do get the impression that a lot of the customers are happy regulars.

As always Giovanni's is a fantastic place a cross between pizzeria and traditional Italian restaurant. Lovely food and specials and the pizzas are large and always prepared in their authentic pizza oven. Friendly helpful Italian staff are always lovely and helpful. A great family run place for couples groups or families.

This is another local Italian restaurant I have visited over the years. Every time I have the food to be very good. That was the case this week although the service spoiled the overall impression. There is the usual menu with pizzas and pasta backed up by a range of meat and fish main courses. I chose a seafood linguine which had fantastic flavour. My wife and son were also delighted with their choices. In a word the food was excellent. However, going to a restaurant is not just about the food. You want to enjoy the whole experience and all three of us were not happy with the waiter. He seemed indifferent and almost surly. He behaved as if he'd rather not have been serving us. Having read other TripAdvisor reviews, this seems to be a systemic fault for Giovanni's and one they seem to ignore. He even seemed annoyed when he was asked to redo the bill so we could add a service charge!The food gets full marks but their service needs to be worked on.

We first checked this place out a few years ago and found it to be so good that we have made it our go to place for authentic Italian food. The staff are always polite and welcoming and the food is delicious. I would recommend the seafood linguine which is just complete and utter bliss! The pizzas are also great and the home-made desserts are very, very good too (try the tiramisu, you won't regret it). Oh, and the calamari starter is so fresh and delicious you would think you were being served it at a restaurant along the shore at an Italian fishing village. Honestly, I haven't had calamari this good in London ever, it's even on par with the ones you get in Cyprus!To top it off they also accept taste card, but that's never stopped us going on the days the offer isn't available. The food is just too good to miss!

I've been to Giovanni's a few times and love the quirkiness of it! The restaurant is split on to two levels and has a real homely feel to it. There isn't a huge amount of range on the menu but there's a good amount on there I think. It's great value for money so would really recommend this place :)

We are here tonight for an early supper with our 10 year old daughter. It was busy and buzzy. Mainly families and groups of friends plus a few couples. The restaurant is on two levels and we began on the ground floor but moved upstairs to get away from a perpetually screaming toddler and a man with a megaphone for a voice. Staff were obliging and efficient and we were served extremely quickly so a great place to go if you're short of time. Not sure how it would be if you wanted to linger - not that we were rushed at all by the staff-and definitely not the place to go for a romantic dinner a deux. Olives and fresh bread and butter were brought to the tableaux were very nice. The food was ok but not great. Whitebait starter was a bit soggy and the minestrone soup was way too salty. The main course pizza was fine, the penne with a vegetarian sauce which they did specially for me ( there's so little on the menu for veggies and the one pasta dish on the menu I wanted wasn't available that night) tasted a bit stewed.At £46 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 4 drinks it certainly is good value but the menu doesn't offer enough choice for non meat or seafood eaters. And the food needs to be better than it is.Oh well....the search for a really superb Italian restaurant in North London continues!

Good Italian Food, Good atmosphere & lovely waiters, great prices! I have been going here for 11 years!

Do not eat in this restaurant. Bad surly service and unimpressive food. They even couldn't be bothered to wash the spinach. And the sautéed potatoes were probably reheated and deep fried. I will be visiting the other restaurant to see if it's any better.

Owned by the same family though not as good as Punto up the road - but very reasonable and good food with a slightly limited menu.
