We went for a friend’s 40th the staff were fantastic made sure we had everything we needed and the food was out of this world will definitely be back

This place is just mint. Every time. Portions are massive, prices are fair. BYOB. You will never complain. If you do, I’ll foot the bill

Went there a couple of weeks ago before going to Forest Arts Centre for a show. Only had an hour for seven of us to be served and eat three courses and we .made it with two minutes to spare. The food, service and ambiance could not be beaten. Never having been to Italy I would not doubt whether it is authentic or not but more important is the taste and WOW...... Three courses amounted to nine dishes and we were not disappointed with any. You can judge the quality and reputation of the place by the fact it was almost full twenty minutes after opening. Can’t wait to come back when we have a bit more time

I'd heard so much about this place and boy it did not disappoint! We enjoyed every single bite! I've eaten in quite a few restaurants in Italy and this is one of my favourites and will be returning again and again. The décor is great and service fantastic, Gio and family walking around talking to everyone. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Gio's was recommended to me so five of us went this evening we had the taster menu at a cost of £13.50 which consisted of a starter of soup with homemade bread and anti pasts followed by four other pasta courses a sweet and coffee which we could not fault and lots of it we all really enjoyed the food and ambience

Food was as great as always.. Gio's Valentine's menu was as inventive... Great food great staff great owner!.. A1 as usual....

Having being recommended by a close friend of mine we just had to try this out! My friend mentioned how quirky the place was and said the food was outstanding (he is a very fussy eater) and said I had to visit it to understand what he meant.. Can’t thank my friend enough for introducing me to this little gem! Gio was outstanding, explaining everything to do with the set menu, making sure we were comfortable (group of 4) and making sure we were happy in every aspect. The food was out of this world and will be visiting more and more! Thankyou for your amazing hospitality and bringing some of your beautiful culture and food to England.

3rd visit and still as good as ever. Gio always makes us so welcome and can't do enough to make sure that everyone has a wonderful evening.

I hadn't realised that we hadn't been back to Gio's for nierly a year till this morning so I immediately booked us a table for 4!... As usual great food and great staff to help the meal go well!. Take your own beer/wine to help the night go with a bang... 10/10 as usual Gio!

Been a few times now and Gio never fails to impress.Great food and such quirky surroundings it's Walsall's hidden gem so much better than all the national chain restaurants and yet very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back

Where do I start. I hired the whole restaurant exclusively for my husbands 60 th birthday. Gio and all the staff were so accommodating, ensuring we all had an amazing time. We had the taster menu £13.50 per head and everything was amazing ! It was pure perfection x we look forward to seeing you all again very soon x

The four of us couldn’t fault gios the food was excellent the service was excellent and the quirky decor just topped it off.we all had the £13.50 buffet which we couldn’t fault. Excellent soup, meat and bread starter followed by four dishes to share between us which were all superb especially the chicken dish. To top it off a very tasty desert and quality coffee. We were off to a concert at the forest arts centre nearby which makes gios an ideal place to eat beforehand, or anytime as the food and service couldn’t be faulted. Please give it a go.

A warm and friendly oasis of beautiful Italian food with wonderful company included from Giovanni and his team. An absolute gem. When you first arrive it is not obviously a restaurant style building with the restaurant itself situated with a community hub complex. The second you walk in to the restaurant you will know you are going to enjoy yourselves and the food. A genuinely unique gem. Thank you Gio

My friend from Holland came to visit this week and decided to give Gios a try. So glad we did. We both went for the taster menu and everything on it was delicious. The meatballs were absolutely melt in the mouth! Although it doesn't look much from the outside, inside is cosy and rustic. We were made instantly welcome as we walked in, menu was explained to us and left to decide. Very nice and relaxed, plenty of time between food to catch up but didn't feel we were made to wait. Will definitely be back. A hidden gem of Walsall

16 friends and family went out for my nephews birthday we had gorgeous food it was a taster menu so we tried food we may not have usually picked and it was all lovely food, The staff were very friendly and helpful. They even wrapped the food we couldn't eat so we could take it home. We will definitely be going again very soon

Went this evening to Gio’s and was pleasantly surprised how well he catered for vegetarian. Great variety in the tasting menu for vegetarians. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a different experience. Great customer service.

A very quaint, rustic Italian situated in a village hall/ community centre. It doesn’t look like a restaurant from outside. 3 course meal with mixed starter followed by either a 4 dish taster course or a pizza course followed by desert and coffee. Lovely environment and service. I prefer a choice menu but the the food was delicious and authentic. Pizza amazing and overall fantastic value at just under £14 each :) take you own drink which is fine :). Lovely place to eat and chat with friends. Very relaxed and super atmosphere:)

Visited Gio's Italian last night with family. The family members we visited with had been to Gios a number of times before.

Gio's was recommended to me as a very local restaurant, I visited this evening with my husband. A bargain 3 course meal for £13.50 including coffee. Fresh homemade Italian food and bring your own drinks which is great. The owner was warm and welcoming and does a lot for the local community which is lovely to see. We will try and visit one of their Sunday pop up restaurants soon as this is a great idea.

Quirky but homely decor with eclectic mixture of art on walls. Great atmosphere with a warm and friendly host. The food is like what mama used to cook. Real Italian football. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic.

The atmosphere here is great and they are so eager to ensure that you enjoy the food, the service is wonderful and the staff are soooo friendly. The restaurant is not chic luxury and takes a little finding on a housing estate but the search is worth the find. It is a very quirky, comfortable and fun place to visit.

Visited Gio’s for the first time after having been recommended it. A little gem inside a community centre in Ryecroft. No airs and graces, just extremely welcoming, customer service performed as it should be. The food was excellent, and fantastic value for money, 3 course taster menu for £13.50 per person. If you want a very personal dining experience without having to stand on ceremony then Gio’s is for you. You can also take your own drink.

Excellent tasty food serve here, highly recommended to eat home cook Italian food lover here. Very reasonable price as well. Love it and definitely going back and eat here.

We haven't been here for a while due to having a baby.

I was told I was being taken to a "quirky Italian" restaurant, but the description beforehand didn't do justice to this wonderful restaurant! It felt as if (in the middle of an estate in Walsall) we had arrived in a family-run restaurant in Italy! The food was amazing - tasty and varied, with a wonderful soup (plus breads and meats) followed by a selection of four main dishes, and a fab chocolate dessert to finish with - and all in intimate, warm and comfortable surroundings. It's only a shame I live about 100 miles away!

Attended a private function here to celebrate a friend's special birthday. Choice of food was good, it was tasty and plentiful. Definitely a hidden gem. Can recommend.

We went to celebrate my birthday with 10 friends and we loved the meal at Gio. Pizza is getting better and better, so nice the doug which is proven for 48 hrs like Italians do in Italy. Bruschetta was beyond belief. Lasagna was supertasty, then meatballs so tasty as much as the chicken. great brownie with mint syrup and cream. Coffee in the cafetiere like in Italy. We can't fault Gio. He is great. Everytime!

Just had a really tasty meal at Gio’s Celebrating my daughter in laws birthday. Really friendly atmosphere, children very welcome. Although only open 3 nights per week food was plentiful. Most of us had a tasting menu which consisted of 4 starters and then 4 mains which were put on the table to help ourselves. It doesn’t have a drinks licence so we took our own which I think worked better for us. Prices were very reasonable. Staff very friendly. Will certainly go again.

Wow! Just home from a fantastic meal at Gio's. Food was tasty, plentiful and really competitively priced. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Found Gio’s while looking for a place for myself and my wife to go for dinner, and what can I say? The restaurant was really cosy and welcoming, the staff were polite and helpful, and the food was just STUNNING! It was fresh, flavourful and you could tell it was homemade

We took two of our friends to celebrate a birthday. We had been before. Excellent food, service and atmosphere again. One of the best places we have eaten at. A very big well done to Gio and his very hardworking team ! A little bit of Italy in Walsall !

So after being recommended this place by a friend, we were advised it was quirky. And it certainly is but it's fantastic! The food was cooked to perfection and the lasagne was the best I've ever had! Gio is a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely return.

Gio has nailed it again for me, best TRADITIONAL Italian food presented. Always look forward when the missus has booked to come here and will be back again.

We were able to make a late booking. The food was proper Italian food -like Mama used to make - very reasonable prices, staff keen to please. Not suitable for low carb diets.

Inwas confused when we first turned up to Gio’s.. but as soon as we walked through the front door we were welcomed by quirky photos and amazing smells! The food was great! They hosted our friends 30th brilliantly especially considering we were in a group of 30+! Bravo!

I phoned gio for a table for 5 at 1pm sat afternoon hoping to get in that night but to be honest not expecting to get in but he managed to squeeze us in! Bravo gio!.. the food as usual was great... thoroughly enjoyed by all of us... Ile be back soon..!

Visited on Saturday evening and ordered the tasting menu. The food is great and authentic and the value for money is simply amazing! Gio and his staff are so friendly and welcoming. The decor is really relaxing and authentic. Really love the concept and idea behind the place which is executed really well. Fantastic work Gio :-)

Been coming here for years and we are never let down. Food taste always fresh, homemade and cooked with care. Pizza pescatora was very tasty, loved the potatoes on it and the base was proper nice and rusty. Wife had lasagna and the chicken platter and scoffed it. Dessert nice with the moka coffee. Always great.

We came here for my son's 16th birthday. Love this place as individual, quirky, great tasty food and Gio is such a splendid host. The teens all had pizza whilst I had the taster menu. It's a treat to go out to dinner and experience fresh tasty food!

We had a family get together here, around 25 of us. My sister had come across it. The food was amazing. Great with the children and excellent value for money. I did wonder in the beginning what on earth we were doing there as it is in a random place but my apprehension soon disappeared. We could have been sat in a restaurant in Italy. The food, the staff, the atmosphere were all very authentic.

Great food and service. You can take your own drinks. Not easy to find so arriving using a satnav is useful or go by taxi.

if you want real Italian food [not microwaved] try gios it is very good authentic Italian cuisine with a varied menu and above all a proper price for basic Italian food.

If u haven't tried this place please do what a wonderful quirky restaurant in a place u wouldn't expect the owner Giovanni is a wonderful man takes time to come to your table explain how the menu works and also does so much for the community and lesser able people the menu is split a taster menu and pizza menu both 3 courses with Italian coffee for 13.50 the food is amazing typical Italian rustic food will be going again without a doubt

What a delightful experience! Our first time at Gio's for my brother in law's 60th birthday party. Very quirky decor and a strange location for an italian restaurant but this place is a gem. A very warm welcome from Gio and such a friendly atmosphere. Food was outstanding. We'll be back!

We went to Gio’s for an easy night out with lovely food in a relaxed atmosphere. Little did we know that there was a 60th birthday celebration at the same time. How lucky were we?! There was music and laughter and the lovely family didn’t bat an eyelid but made other people dining welcome when enjoying the live music too. The food as always was delicious, very competitive in price and we got to take home what we couldn’t finish as the portions are very generous. Gio and staff were as always smiling even though this was a busier weekend han usuals night.

What an evening last night 28/07/2018 at Gio's. Never been before but staff extremely welcoming and helpful during the evening. We kept apologising when someone on our table of eleven left something on their plate because it was like eating in an Italian family home with plentiful beautiful food. A gem of a find from my sister who had organised her husband's 60th bday party there with us taking up a lot of space in a party of over thirty people.

My second visit here and returned with family again. This establishment is superb, a quaint setting with splendid service and outstanding food. Mr and Mrs Cutler

We booked a table for my 60th birthday and as we hadn't been before we were surprised to find the restaurant in the middle of a housing estate but what a gem of a find ! We were warmly welcomed by Gino and he explained how the menu worked. We all chose the sample menu and I ,as a vegetarian had a slightly different menu but we all agreed it was absolutely gorgeous very authentic Italian food in fact there was so much food we were given the foccacia to take home as we couldn't manage to eat it . The restaurant was fully booked and I would advise booking a week or so in advance for a Saturday night All in all a fabulous night,lovely people and we will definitely be going back .Thank you .

Love love love this little place. When we first visited a couple of years ago I though my husband was playing a joke as he drove into the community centre car park! However when we walked through the door we were transported into a wonderful quirky little restaurant full of interesting little features. We were welcomed by Gio as if we were old friends and made to feel like we'd been invited for dinner. The menu is simple and is simply good food cooked very well. You can choose from two options starter and pizza or starter and traditional Italian tasters. We have tried both and they are equally good. Service is nice, at a good pace and personal. You bring your own drinks and it's extremely reasonably priced.

Looks a little strange when you first arrive as it is in what appears to be an old classroom. There is plenty of parking and you go in through a door at the right side.

We had heard many good things about Gios so when our friend offered to treat us to a belated anniversary meal there we were delighted. The welcome is warm and friendly with Gio himself coming to the table to explain the menu, he is so lovely natured and it is obvious he wants you to feel at home and comfortable. We all opted for the taster menu which was absolutely delicious, antipasti starter, 3 taster meals on your plate and a lasagne to share, pudding and delicious strong Italian coffee. It was our first visit but will certainly not be our last. Would totally recommend Gios to everyone.

Have been threatening to go for ages. Don’t be put off by the first impression as you pull up or the area it’s in. 3 couples went and we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Owner greats you & makes lots of effort to make conversation. Service really good, all staff friendly. Food is absolutely gorgeous, you have a variety of dishes to share. Great value and you can take your own booze so. Definitely will be going back

Firstly, this isn't your normal overpriced posh italian.Its run by top people, providing great delicious food at a bargain price with a lovely different atmosphere to more pretentious places. There's 2 menu choices all served 'family sharing style' which offer variety and new flavours you wouldn't normally choose. A hidden gem that we'll be returning to soon.

We went to Gio's on 14th April, never having been here before, not sure what to expect, what a smashing place hidden away where it is. We were welcomed by a friendly waitress and offered a choice of tables, Gio himself came over and explained how things worked, we both chose the tasting menu and were not disapointed. The food was really good and plenty of it, so much so that we had to take the pudding home in a container as we were both stuffed!

We visited as a last minute booking and were not disappointed. Quirky decor. Lovely atmosphere. Warm welcome from Gio and fabulous food. 3 course taster menu with italian coffee for £13.50 or pizzas freshly made. Bring your own booze. Taster menu is changed every 4/5 weeks so we will be back. We absolutely love this place and are always pleased with the quality of the food, the atmosphere and Gio himself who makes an extra effort to spend time with his customers. Heard about this place from friends and thought I'd try out. So glad I did, the food is amazing and such good value. We had the taster menu and there was plenty of food to share. For around £14 for 3 courses and coffee it's an absolute bargain.

Love Italian food did not like theirs. everything tasted strange especially the garlic bread. Nothing like authentic Italian.

We returned to Gio because he is a legend and because he wasn't charging stupid prices like the majority of other restaurants. Usual starter ok plus the chicken plate with aubergine and stuffed courgettes. Lovely brownie with mint sauce and the perfect coffee from the moka Bialetti that its a must for every Italian home meals. Wonderful service from Gio and his daughter Gabriella always smiling, always so nice and accomodating. Grazie.

Visited with a couple of friends as heard good things about Gios and we like supporting local businesses. Gios was fantastic from start to finish, the anti-pasto Rustico was delicious. I had a pizza which was very tasty and filling and cooked as requested (well done bacon). Friends had the taster menu and said that was just as amazing. Dessert and coffee very nice end to a lovely meal. Atmosphere was wonderful, decor looks great with lots to look at, Gio and staff very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Just an all round wonderful venue with fantastic food and great service.

I cannot recommend this little gem if a place enough. Gio you are an amazing cook and host. Makes you feel like you have come to his house rather than to his restaurant. Simple home cooked Italian food at its best.

Wasn't what you would expect at all when you walk in. Small community centre building but had an amazing time here. Went with to friends to try it out and we was shocked when we walked in but carried on. The manager Gio was so friendly from start to end and makes you feel so comfortable. Never experienced the method where there is a set menu which changes every few weeks so was nice to try. All the food was top quality from starter to pudding. Had never tried some of the items I was brought out before but loved all of them! Would love to go here again and try the next menu.

6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children went here for my mom's birthday meal. Mom chose the place as she's been here before. I wasn't sure what to expect from her description so I checked on here before leaving work. I have never seen so many 5 star reviews and hoped it lived up to the hype. We arrived at 7:30pm after driving through a pleasant housing estate. The premises are located on the ground floor of a community centre, next to the gym. The illuminated GIOS sign was the only clue. Upon entering, we saw 4 other tables were occupied, with 12-14 other patrons. The interior decor was unusual, with countless pieces of artwork, movie posters, and unusual items with an Italian theme. The tables and chairs are all different shapes and sizes, but this just adds to the charm of the place. Within a minute, Gio emerged from the kitchen with a warm welcome. We sat down and opened the drinks we had bought with us, the place is not licenced. Soon, we had ordered the taster menu for the adults and the youngsters had pizza. Not long after, Gio, who was the only waiter, came out with the kids pizzas. Freshly made and delicious, and about 12" of thin crust. Then he bought out 2 large lasagne, 2 large plates of a pasta dish with courgette, 2 plates of plain chicken thighs and breast on a salad with crispy chicken skin, 2 plates of another spicier chicken with skin, on a bed of delicious herby potatoes, and an Italian casserole with sausage and meatballs in a tomato sauce. Food was plentiful and delicious.

Absolutely fabulous food even the kids ate everything couldn't reccomend it highly enough will definitely be going again.

Been here twice now with two different set menus. Service is amazing, lovely friendly owner and servers. Food is authentic and plentiful! Great value for money and could easily compare to dishes I've had in Italy. Definitely worth a visit!!

One Walsall where looking for somewhere to enjoy our Christmas lunch, so we decided to contact Gio, not only did he open the restaurant for us he provided us with the most delicious food, the customer service was superb, Gio was very attentive and has great customer service skills!. We had two vegetarian staff and two members of staff with nut allergies but this did not stop the quality of food. We are all very impressed and can not thank you enough for a wonderful afternoon full of laughs and great food!

A visit with my sister and mother from afar; travelled 2.5 hours for dinner in the snow and we wasn’t disappointed. What a lovely hidden gem. Gio was lovely and made us feel welcome. Food was to die for also. So so stuffed afterwards.

I visited gio's tonight, this was a recommended place to eat and what a pleasure it was! The food was amazing the homely atmosphere made me feel so at ease and all round fantastic place to go. Gio welcomed us in and went through the menu and choices and also the fantastic up and coming charity opportunites he is getting involved in. Well, First time here tonight and I've got to say this place is excellent. The food is just sooooo good and the Lasagna is just unlike any other that i've had in the past., absolutely AMAZING.Service is quick and super friendly and the prices are spot onIt's always awesome when you find a little gem like this, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Seen great reviews on Gio’s. It’s certainly not like your normal restaurant being in a school annex. But really friendly staff great service who explained menu as we had taster menu. Presentation was good and food tasty. Would be more than happy to pay a return visit

Excellent food, pleasant service, Gio takes the time to speak to the customers and you leave with the impression you have made a friend. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, well worth a visit, don't let the location put you off, once inside you wouldn't have a clue you was in the middle of a housing estate.
