Perfectos. Started with excellent decision to eat in the Garden Atrium. Choose soup of the day and bruschetta to start. Amazing!!! Finished with a shared chicken panini. Wonderful. Pretty sure Gino served us, made the food, and serenaded us from the kitchen. Please visit. Awesome experience. Great food.

This establishment deserves to be busier than it was when I visited. Only me plus one table of 2 in at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed my cheese and tomato toastie, served with side salad and coleslaw, and a pot of tea, all for the grand sum of £5.45. Absolutely superb value for money. In Stonehaven on holiday, I stumbled across this wee gem by accident. Perhaps some signage at Market Square directing potential customers to Gino’s might encourage custom. Will definitely return when I’m next in the area.

I rang at 17.05 on Wednesday to book a table for my wife and I for dinner ……… to be answered by Gino ? I take it , “ we’re closed “ ……….. was the reply , and he hung up . I then checked the website and realised they closed at 5.00 pm on a Wednesday , however , as a holidaymaker visiting Stonehaven this was extremely unwelcoming . We ate elsewhere for 4 nights , where we were made to feel welcome .

We came at 7:30 pm and asked kindly for a table, there have been 3 free tables. He told us to come back at 8:15 pm, not very kindly and in a hurry. We came back in time, the same tables were free but the waitress told us that they don’t take anyone for today anymore. She has been kind but he didn’t wanted to explain. We felt not welcome and we had to leave and get somewhere else. Difficult at the late hour.

We visited the restaurant on a Saturday evening. The starters were at best average and shop bought. The fun came with the main course when the couple next to our table got our vegetables. When we finally got our main courses they were disappointing. The next table's vegetables re-emerged as ours after a quick microwave. The chicken arrived cold. Don't order the veal! Very disappointed and won't be back.

Visited on a Friday evening with family including teenage children. Gino’s is a lovely intimate restaurant with a friendly environment. The staff are attentive and the service excellent. This is a fun dining experience with the customer/staff interaction enthusiastically led by Gino himself. The menu is limited, but the food was good and well made. It is clear from Gino’s interaction with customers that many return time and time again. Really good value for money, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back. Highly recommend.

We stopped by for dinner whilst on a group trip around. Scotland and were so happy with our food. I was absolutely blown away by how lovely and helpful Gino and his staff were in making sure that I had the perfect dinner (I’m vegan and they offered so many possible alterations to regular dishes, or to come up with something new to make sure I had a great meal). The other members of our group ordered off the regular menu and were similarly thrilled with their food - unfortunately we’re only here in Stonehaven for the one night, else we’d absolutely eat here again

We decided to try this Italian as we were passing through Stonehaven. My wife and I both ordered garlic mushrooms as a starter and I have to say it was the worse dish I have ever been served in a restaurant. They were undercooked mushrooms in a washy water on a plate. No seasoning at all tried one mushroom and I stopped there. The owner asked did we like it! He said they were mushrooms in garlic and butter. I wonder where the butter was and the where the swimming pool of what’s water came from. The mushrooms looked like they were boiled as they looked anaemic. My wife said her main was ok. Mine was bland no seasoning, but I ate it as I was hungry. Needless to say this was not a pleasant experience for us and will not be returning.

Usually I would write a review on how the food was but since we never got to actually sit down and try it due to the rudeness of the proprietor then unable to. We went in as group of 4 adults and 4 children and asked if there was a table available to fit us all in, (which there was as only a few folk in at the time) only to be told “you need to go now” as if we were being an inconvenience to the owner after he had came back from checking. Not a great way to run a business or potential customers. Took ourselves and our money elsewhere.

Arrived at 1.15pm, the place was empty, we were greeted by a nice lady that took our drink order, that was served within five minutes, within fifteen minutes we had our starters, my wife had Bruschetta, she couldn't eat it all, the tomatoes still had the skin on, it was also soaking in oil, I tried it, the oil was running down my hand.My Prawn cocktail, the lettuce tasted earthy, the prawns seemed to be dry and overcooked, the sauce was bland. The main courses my wife's Homemade Lasagne, she only ate half of it, I tasted it but spat it out, the meat had an undertaste greasy and appeared to be heated in a microwave, my meal was Chicken Cacciatore, dry and rubbery, again heated in microwave, both meals had what tasted like chopped Coriander put on top as a garnish, there was no mention of putting that stuff on, in the Menu, I was told it was parsley, I beg to differ, both my wife and I hate Coriander. All in all, not a good lunch, we will not be back.

My son his wife and family decided to take me and my husband out to this Restaurant gor Lunch for my Birthday. Being brought up by an Italian mother they thought this would be an ideal place for me. My son phoned to book a couple of days before and the phone was answered by a very curt individual who asked how many for and what time and that he'd put it in the Diary and ....end of conversation. No I look forward to meeting you or thank you for calling. Not what my son expected. I was excited by the idea and while we decided what to have we had a Cappucino first and it was delicious. Then we ordered. My Granddaughter (7) ordered a Marguerita Pizza and the rest of us ordered the Lasagne me because it had some good reviews on FB. When it arrived it looked alright but I was disappointed in the fact that it was quite bland, each portion had been put into a dish then heated up in the oven which explained the crisp outer edges and crisp mince. Parmesan cheese was set on the table, but no offer of Garlic bread or crusty bread to eat with it. It cost £7.80 per portion which in itself is not expensive, but for the amount we got on our plates it wasn't worth it. The Pizza was a bought in base with tomato puree and a mix of cheddar and Mozarella cheese on top. Very disappointing. The cook/owner came to do something at the door and asked if everything was alright at the beginning of our meal but did not enter into any kind of dialogue. The waitress was pleasant but not that welcoming either. We didn't have anything after that and left totally disappointed with our lunch. I don't see us going back in a hurry.

Come here often to eat at various times of the day, and would like to make a comment regarding service. First of all, these girls are clearly all still of school age, and I would love to see the unpleasant reviewers below provide a similar standard of service at such a young age. The girls are all polite and friendly, and some have excellent customer service skills. I would suggest they were 'polishing cutlery loudly' in order to ensure you, and subsequent customers, have cutlery with which to eat your meal. Food is always of a good standard, whether for coffee, lunch or dinner, and the price is very reasonable. My only objection is the visibly stressful ambiance on a busy evening, however, this is, after all, a restaurant, and it is natural to expect to wait for a more lengthy period of time on such occasions. I see very little reason to complain.

We came on a Saturday night as a group of 4, it wasn't quiet but wouldn't say it was busy. Although food was quite good and couldn't really be faulted, the service really let it down. We were left quite a few times waiting to be served by two young waitresses that chose to tidy empty tables and polish cutlery loudly instead of attending to customers. Instead of staying for more drinks or dessert we chose to leave, the only good thing about this was the price of the bill at the end, very well priced.Probably return for lunch but don't think we will bother coming back for dinner.

Gino's is a café by day but a restaurant on a Friday and Saturday night. The food is generally good, though the same dish is rarely served the same twice! Likewise the service is also very hit and miss as the proprietor gets by on teenage staff with limited customer service skills. On a recent visit it took a long time to get the menus and drinks, and then the wrong order was brought. Not much done to rectify things either. Very disappointing :(

We have called in previously for a coffee and snack at Ginos and it's been fine, however the same could not be said of our recent experience of an evening meal .The service was reasonable and friendly but both our starter and main course were of a poor quality and not reflective of a tasty Italian meal we were looking forward to . As both our meal and starters were equally disappointing I did not even want to waste my time with calling the owner / cook ( definitely not Chef ) to our table as this is clearly the standard he is comfortable with, needless to say we will not be returning .

This is a well-established and unpretentious popular little restaurant/cafe with a very pleasant ambiance. It has it's own sunny, cheerful disposition with similarly-natured staff. And more importantly the food is consistently tasty and freshly prepared to order;whether it be snacks, salads, or the delicious pasta's.Also serves up a reviving cup of coffee, and the house-wine is very quaffable. It is obvious that the staff get along so well as there is such a nice, laid-back , welcoming atmosphere - and usually latin music playing in the background (sometimes accompanied by Gino himself!) which makes it all too easy to spend longer lingering than you mean to.

First time at Ginos. First positive thing was we were able to park right next to the restaurant. Was very endearing entering the small but very well laid out restaurant where we were made most welcome right away. The service was excellent and nothing was too much for the waiting staff in assisting us. The food was excellent. From the simple but well presented starters to the main dishes which were nothing but delicious to the last bite. The staff were always attentive to all of the tables that I may say we're full. Would thoroughly recommend this wee gem of authentic Italian cuisine to anyone. We will be back.

We almost missed eating here because on weekdays it is only open for lunch. We got in a half hour before closing. The food is very tasty and authentic Italian food. Gino is originally from Italy. It was so nice to listen to him back in the kitchen whistling and singing while cooking food for 6 last minute stragglers. You just know your food will be good when the chef is happy to be preparing it. If you are in Stonehaven and have a taste for Italian, this is the spot to go.

We visited Stonehaven for lunch and found that the restaurant we used previously had closed down. We discovered Gino's which is open 9.30 a.m to 5.00 p.m Mon to Thursday and 9.30 to 9.00 p.m Friday and Saturday. It is within easy walking distance from the town centre. The restaurant looks smaller than it is from the outside but it was cosy and warm. We ordered homemade lasagne, which cost less than £8 and a lovely cup of coffee - real coffee! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Been to Gino's regularly on a Friday or Saturday when Gino has an evening service from 6pm to maybe 10pm. Here you will find a variety of specials such as king prawns - and wow they are giant prawns! There are the usual pasta dishes. The food is usually of a good quality, service can vary depends who is serving. Starters and puddings are wide ranging and usually excellent.

Have visited Ginos on many occasions having previously stayed in Stonehaven for many years. As the owner is Italian I would always recommend ordering a pasta dish although there are many more choices of baked potatoes/sandwiches/toasties. I usually have the homemade lasagne and have yet to come across one as nice as this.Prices I feel are reasonable at around £7 for most pasta dishes. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Worth a visit if your in the area.

Didn't know pizza could get that bad. Service was sloppy, I didn't get my requested glass of water and we weren't even asked how our meal was despite not eating it...probably as that said it all.

Went to Gino's for a family meal on a Saturday night - neither of us had been there for a while and some had never been before (despite living in Stonehaven). As we hadn't heard anything about Gino's for a while we wondered if there was a reason for not hearing anything. However we all ordered starters, mains, and desserts, and all were fantastic. The service was great, the courses came in good time, and the atmosphere was cosy and v.Italian. It wasn't very busy, though I guess many places aren't in the first week in January, but the waiter and waitress were both very attentive and great help. Will definitely be going back :)

All in all I was a little disappointed with our meal here the other night. My 'medium' steak was rarer than rare. The smoked salmon with prawns was unimaginative and needed at least a piece of bread. As someone else has said, the garlic mushrooms float in liquid on a flat plate with no accompaniment. Again, a piece of nice wholemeal bread or a roll would make all the difference. If I'd paid for the penne pasta dish I would have been very disappointed - a bowl of penne pasta with a big price tag! The deserts appear to be bought in pre-prepared, which is not a criticism, just an observation. It wasn't all bad! The tuna and the bream were good, although the portion of bream was small. The seafood soup was excellent.

Gino's is a long established Italian restaurant, but we just popped in for a coffee, a tea, a scone and a piece of cake on a sunny Saturday afternoon after having a wee walk around Stonehaven seafront. I've had coffee and a chat there several times in a morning. The three or four tables of diners when we visited early on the Saturday afternoon seemed to be finishing lunches, and all left during our half hour there. The trolley was looking pretty empty, but there was a scone for me, and a nice piece of iced Victoria Sponge for my husband, so we thought we'd only just made it in time to partake of a 'fine piece'....only for the waitress to fill up the trolley after we'd chosen! Would have been thoughtful of this young lass to mention there were more options being stocked up when we asked what there was. We had to ask for napkins too, which should have been on the table, but are definitley a necessity with a cream sponge cake, and jammy scone. We enjoyed the scone and cake, and before leaving enquiring if they still did dinner, the young male waiter told us Friday and Saturday evening sees dinner being served, and I was offered a menu to study.Seems quite a good option, especially as there are two veal dishes on at nights, and I find it extremely hard to find veal as an option nowadays, even in other Italian restaurants. A lovely dessert menu compliments all the starters and mains, and there were already 4 very appealling tiramisus chilling in the refrigerator for the Saturday evening diners.I do like the layout of Gino's - very casual, and cosy too, and you can well imagine sitting in much the same way out on the pavement....in sunny italy! I think it would be a nice atmosphere for a leasurely Italian dinner some Friday or saturday night, so must give it a try.

Dined here a couple of weekends ago with my partner. Having read other reviews on Trip Advisor for this restaurant I was looking forward to it. However, we were very disappointed and won't be going back.My partner had garlic mushrooms to start and they were served with lot of liquid and on a flat plate. Not easy to eat and even the waitress spilled it on the table when collecting the plate. These should have been served in a bowl! The pasta dishes were ok, but not as tasty as we have had in other restaurants in Aberdeenshire.Suffice to say, we won't be going back!

We went for a meal to celebrate my daughter's birthday, this was a restaurant which I used to frequent around 15 - 20 years ago when I lived in the area and my children were much younger, it was always excellent at that time for coffee and lunches, this was the first time I had returned. We were greeted by a smiling host who settled us and provided us with menus. There was a good choice of authentic Italian food plus Steak on the specials board. We were given time to make our choices and when the food arrived we were not disappointed. My daughter had asked for her dish to come minus the chilli which was no problem, no fuss, she got what she asked for. We all agreed that the food was the best we had tasted in a long time, fresh, full of flavour, good portion sizes and well presented. We all had different meals and we all emptied our plates, sauces mopped up with the wonderful Garlic Bread. Tea and Coffee finished the meal off nicely and the chocolate mints were Devine! The restaurant is cosy, with a very relaxed atmosphere, we were not rushed at all, neither did we feel that we had long to wait between courses, the staff were attentive and helpful, At less than £80 for 3 starters, 3 mains, one dessert, 1 bottle of most enjoyable wine and 3 coffees this was excellent value. I can guarantee that this will become a regular choice for me.

As Gino's is fairly central in Stonehaven it is a popular place for lunch and coffees. I go there about 6 ties a year. Once we went out without eating, this on a Saturday lunchtime. We were shown to a table and ignored for 20 minutes. I accept that the restaurant was busy but the fact we'd been shown to a table should have meant that the staff knew we were there. What really finished it for us was when staff twice walked past us to clear tables. The final straw was being asked for payment on our way out. When we stated that we hadn't eaten it didn't seem important o the owner. The can be confirmed by the number of times we've seen him sitting at a table with friends/colleagues during the lunch service. The food is acceptable, the usual waitresses are really friendly and efficient.

This was our second visit to Ginos, we like the informal atmosphere, perfect for a laid back evening meal. However, a couple of things to note though:Service was friendly but we felt rushed, we had 3 courses but were in and out in under 45 minutes. My husbands starter was melon wrapped in parma ham, this cost over £6 and was literally a couple of slices of lemon wrapped in a few pieces of parma ham, no effort had gone into the presentation of the dish, we just felt this was a couple of pounds over-priced.Will we be back... yes, we'd give them another shot.

We go to Ginos every few months and the food is consistent, good, honest, rustic Italian food. Atmosphere is very cordial and the restaurant is cosy and informal with lots of postcards, photos, prints of Italian scenes all over the walls. Gino makes an appearance every so often to make sure you are enjoying your meal and the staff are hard-working and polite. There is a specials board from which I have had excellent steak on a couple of occasions, lovely king prawns, mussels and other stuff. The homemade desserts and fresh coffees are excellent. The cheesecakes that you sometimes get there and the tiramisu are really good - they should do more of these!! They also do frozen desserts like you get in a lot of Italian restaurants - I am not really a fan of these. There is a good variety of rich, filling pasta dishes and I often can't see past the pollo alla Milanese - breaded chicken breast on the bone covered with garlic butter sitting on a tomato sauce with spaghetti. There are a good selection of wines, by glass, bottle, half and full carafes, and some Italian beers like Moretti. This restaurant would be suitable for a nice informal romantic meal for couples, or equally suitable for families or groups. Price is reasonable too!
