Trying to get outside caterers in my part of Armagh appears to be almost impossible. When attempting this for a birthday party for around 15 to 20 family members, one of my daughters suggested Gilberry Fayre near Banbridge. We have visited the restaurant/cafe on a number of occasions and always found it to be excellent with friendly and competent staff. It is based in an old schoolhouse and retains much of the charm of this even though it has undergone extensive but sympathetic modernisation. My wife contacted the restaurant for details of party catering and the details of availability along with associated costs, including any personal preferences were agreed in a very professional manner. I collected the trays of sandwiches, goujons, vol au vents, cocktail sausages and sweet selection without any delays from the restaurant and it was obvious that there was an excellent choice and very acceptable quantity. At the party, everyone agreed that all the food met and exceeded expectations. What was left was eagerly snapped up for those wishing to take some home- leaving some for us of course! This is a top rate catering establishment for which I have no qualms in recommending to those who have a future party event- you will not be disappointed.

The quaint sleepy charm of Gilberry Fayre is so endearing. On arrival you're greeted with such a warm welcome, the customer service is second to none. The quality of the menu is top notch, absolutely delicious homecooked food. Thank you.

I drove to the restaurant this morning for breakfast, not alone myself, but another couple drove up as well, according to your website the restaurant showed it opened on a Monday from 9 am to 4 pm, but what a disappointment only to find different opening hours where displayed , stating, from Tuesday. To Saturday, could you please update your website please. Very disappointing.

Gilberry Fayre never disappoints. They have an all-day breakfast menu, sandwiches and paninis, and daily specials. I had the chicken tikka wrap special. They also do teas and coffees and lots of desserts and traybakes. They also have a wide selection of frozen meals and desserts to take home. The staff are excellent.

My wife and I decided to return to this quaint little restaurant as it has been over a year since our last visit. The first thing that I noticed was a radio playing quite loudly in the background which really was not needed indeed a relaxing CD in the background would be more beneficial. We notice that the menu was very limited so we decided to share the chicken burger with chips and two cappuccinos. The coffee was good however the chicken burger left a lot to be desired parts of it were quite stringy and tough it obviously was deep fried and really overcooked. I was really sorry to see such a lovely place losing its way as it has so much going for it.

£11 for 3 small chicken goujons , some frozen chips and a side salad. Good range of desserts but maybe I chose poorly with the rocky road, had planned to share this but it was too soft to cut. Wouldn't recommend.

This was my first time and I came with my parents. The three of us really enjoyed our lunch. I had the large fry which was great. My folks enjoyed their lunch. I did think the portions were very generous. Everything seemed freshly made. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back. Be sure to check out the deli counter, as I'm sure you'll be able to pick up a nice cake etc

My friend & I called today for lunch as we have done my times , today was disappointing, ordered 2 homemade sausage rolls with salad. All I can say the rolls were just warm and the salad was more of a garnish than a salad 1/4 of tomato a little lettuce with a little coleslaw also with pasta which i didnt eat. We were told it would be £6 but when we went to pay it was £8.35. We queried the price but we were told that was the price. Definitely not good value. Am sorry but we will not be back at Gilberry Fayre.

I love the ambience at this place, so quaint and the food is lovely, HOWEVER I ordered a caramel almond milk latte and it was the most DISGUSTING coffee I have ever had in my life. SO disappointing. Tasted like there was a whole bottle of caramel syrup shoved in and the almond milk wasn’t in the latte but was instead served in a jug next to it?! The Gilberry Fayre need to up their game as it’s not hard to make a nice cup of coffee. I couldn’t even drink half of it. Thoroughly awful.

My wife and I called on the third Saturday in May at about 1;30 It was very busy but we given a table quite quickly And we were fortunate to have our order taken quickly but others were not so lucky ☹️ The food was good, fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced I’d definitely go back but they need to watch the waiting times

After being reccommended to visit her by many work friends, i finally decided to visit with my family. I am just so disappointed by what we received. Firstly, the lady taking our order asked if my mum/grandmother wanted veg or salad with their gougons. One opted veg and the other salad... yet when it appeared turns out veg means chips. If my mum knew these she would of ordered the veg.... then i patiently waited for my panini to appear. No sign. So, meanwhile my family are mid way through their meals, the same lady came back to ask what i wanted on my panini, she mentioned bacon.. i said twice that i would of liked chicken, cheese and bbq sauce. Then i just decided i didnt want to wait as my family were nearly finished. Its not rocket science. Yet for £24 i feel like my family were robbed paying £8.95 for 3 gougons salad/chips & a kids scrambled eggs with 1x sausage.

Haven’t been in Gilberry Fare for a few years, so called in yesterday for lunch. Very pleasantly surprised as the food was as good as ever. My husband and I both had a panini, it was beautiful! Afterwards my hubby had rhubarb apple tart & he said it was delicious.

I ordered food for my daughters 21st birthday party and it was lovely. Everything I ordered tasted great and the guests all agreed. The staff in Gilberry Fayre are very nice too. Well worth five stars.

The waitress staff were very nice but the food itself was very disapointing . Was in around 3 oclock ordered 3 meals one was chicken goujons which were like leather so so dry . Also chicken stack also chicken like leather. Was so looking 4ward to going but this has put me of as i say waitress staff good but you go for the food and it wasnt.

This was recommended to me as a nice place to take my mum for lunch, I'm glad we went, it's a fabulous spot. Big car park and I'm guessing it's an old cottage converted to a cafe/restaurant as it's so quaint and attractive. Its deceptively big inside as there is an upstairs area but we were lucky to get a downstairs table straight away as it was really busy, a cycling club was using the outside tables for coffees and inside was almost full. There was a decent lunch menu but we went for two all day breakfast fry's which were really really good, and the pot of tea for two was enough for about six lol There were loads of home made sausage rolls, scones, cakes and traybakes which looked gorgeous - my mum had coffee cake which she said was beautiful. High praise! Gilberry Fayre is a wee hidden gem but is obviously well known to its regular customers. We will definitely be back!

Gilberry Fayre in the past was a perfect location for lunch and a venue that was precious to childhood memories and growing up in the area. However pre-Covid, I had occasion to return to my hometown and was sadly disappointed by the quality; thinking this was a one-off, I made two subsequent visits after Xmas 2019 to much the same dismal quality. The food is lukewarm with no taste. It was sitting out with quality reduced significantly but price inflated significantly (think London city centre lunch costs not Gilford, NI), Service was extremely poor and there was no space as the already limited and crammed chairs seemed to have multiplied. It did not have the same atmosphere and was now more a feeling of you had walked in to a high school cafeteria to a gossiping clique, with a feeling of eat up and get out so we can resume gossip. Unfortunately, it is my now opinion, that the son has dropped the baton on the amazing business that his father operated for generations. The food is prepared in a going through the motions format and just getting it out. It is devastating that such a wonderful business no longer is as it was.

The food here is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly. We bought 10 Xmas Dinners for takeaway for our team and they went down so well.

Good food, but bad service (was sooo slow)and didn't get the coffee I'd ordered. Was sitting upstairs and think they just forgot about people up there. As I wasn't the only one that had to go down and ask for stuff. When paying I said I didn't get the coffee and no sorry or anything also had to talk her through what I got. It was as if just like pay up and get out feeling to me.

My wife wanted to surprise me with breakfast in a place we hadn’t been before that was recommended by a colleague. We both had a fry for breakfast and can honestly say that it was faultless and keenly priced. The setting is quaint and relaxed and the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We called back in the afternoon for coffee and a slice of pie and a bun which were delicious. Cannot recommend enough.

Called last week for a cuppa and a scone.While waiting to get serviced there was a customer standing in front of the scones and was coughing without covering his mouth.The food should be covered from people that has no respect and consideration for others getting infected from their germs.

Called into Gilberry Fayre this morning for coffee and I felt I needed to share my amazing experience. It’s a quaint little place with a lovely homely feel. Jacqueline was the young lady who served us. She was so helpful and pleasant, nothing too much trouble. The fruit scones are to die for, absolutely loaded with fruit and so fresh. Before we left the lunch selection was being brought out and it all looked delicious. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, as are the people who work there. We will most definitely call again.

Food was terrible, asked for steak and garlic potatoes, I was given chips and steak. The chips were smothered in salt to the point were they were inedible. Brought this to the attention of management and was dismissed completely. DONT GO HERE if you want a nice meal and wanted to be treated with respect

HAving my standard Friday Fry in different locations. We call in today. The order was taken and we took a table. A huge pot of tea arrived and the offer of a refill. Must say had I taken it would have needed a potty on the way home. The food was tasty not the usual mass-produced bacon and sausages. Thanks

I haven’t been here in 2 years - I had forgotten how good it was and how GOOD it still is! Homemade food in a pine country kitchen style venue, this place still oozes peace, good food and treats. The staff are still excellent and helpful with an ease and smile. Today it was beef stroganoff, chips and a delicious house side salad after a busy day! This business still provides outside catering and home made frozen fayre to take home! The little details like Fosters local chocolate and jars of local boiled sweets also make this local business a success for locals and visitors.

Such a lovely spot, I've been here numerous times. Today was a cycle stop where we had scones and coffee. All was beautiful. This is a busy cafe offering sandwiches, salads, dinners, deserts--a massive range all cooked fresh. Prices are cheap, staff are welcoming. Great spot

Lovely decor great desert had the salmon and it was wonderful with ginger plum on top Mash was creamy good value for cafe food but the coffee was perfect large cup caramel or sweeteners available and the desserts are homemade tasty lemon my favourite served with a smile makes all the difference I will return

Was recommended to visit the Gilbert Fayre and have to say, was definitely not disappointed It’s beautiful surroundings, friendly service when you arrive and the food was amazing, the staff can’t do enough for you which was really lovely as I lost my mum last year to cancer and wanted to take my 83 year old daddy somewhere special for lunch, The Gilbert is a stunning old converted school which has so much of its old character inside and out and the sitting areas are great with some lovely views looking out the window and plenty of leg room this is the second time I been now in 2 weeks and has now became my favourite spot and my dads lol , the select of food and sweets is out of this world and if you prefer there’s a sitting area outside where you can go also . So from start to finish I cannot sing praises enough of this place for its Excellent food, Service , surroundings and Staff thank you will definitely be telling everyone about here ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Just back from Afternoon Tea at Gilberry Fayre - won’t need to eat for the rest of the evening!!! Beautiful selection of fresh sandwiches, yummy scones with little pots of jam and fresh cream, and a lovely selection of pastries . All served up very attractively by very attentive and pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend.

I visited here several months ago with a friend for lunch. My sandwich was average but my friend had cottage pie. It arrived looking like something the dog threw up and was lukewarm. We then had coffee and shared a slice of Victoria sponge which was so dry it crumbled as soon as the fork hit it. When we were leaving my friend went to pay for a packet of biscuits and was asked if everything was ok. When she said that no, actually it wasn’t, her answer from the staff member was ‘well that’s nothing to do with me, I don’t do the cooking’. I returned today with a different friend for lunch, hoping the last experience was a one off. Service was disgraceful. We went up to order ( no one else iwaiting to order) and stood while the staff member completely ignored us as she filled a dinner plate, took it into the back and returned with another plate to fill at her leisure again in complete silence. There was no eye contact, not even a ‘someone will be with you in a moment’ Talk about an awkward silence! I noticed a tin by the till suggesting tips for the hardworking staff. I think, however, it must have been their day off. This used to be a great place with first class food and service, sadly my last two experiences mean some of us will be going elsewhere for our catch-ups.
