Georges Fish Bar in Sandwell

Walked in and there was a guy cleaning - he took our order then went to get the main man, who was flapping around like he had no idea what he was doing - a customer came in behind us who ordered a donner burger the guy shaved the donner and put the meat in a box using clippers - he then proceeded to put the same clippers in the salad box!!! 🤯🤬 The guy that was cleaning who might I add had touched bleach and was mopping in the back then came out and started to fry off our chips …. At this point we walked out. This is utterly disgusting and again so many food regulations- I’m genuinely gutted because I used to love eating there but having witnessed this - absolutely never again!!

Decent bit of grub!!! Used George’s for couple nights whilst staying at a near by hotel, no idea orange chips was a thing😀, happy with the food and priced well, service with a smile too👍

Cold chips that were on verge of being thrown out until I walked in. Still charged at full price. Over priced if they had been eatable 🤢. On plus side 5 mins down road to traffic lights and turn right. Right next to Nisa, Beautiful chipshop, best I've tasted in long time, very happy kids this time, my new local

Love Chicken Balti Pie. Unfortunately the crust was very hard and inedible, which is the reason I took off 1 star. The rest of the pie was lovely. Chips were delicious

I had fish and chips, the fish was horrible, and chips were grease.

What I like about this place is that everything was done fresh to order. Some may not like orange chips, but this is West Bromwich and you get served orange chips (except for Big John's up the road ). The chicken meat was sliced off the Gyro as opposed to being stored in a Bain Marie container. It's pretty tasty. George is friendly. The lady who normally served me was friendly too. Good food, good service.

Shocking. Worst chips iv ever seen and tasted. How u can possibly serve this to anyone is beyond me. Look at the state of these

My favourite chip shop in Black Country! The most accommodating and well priced fish and chip shop but does extras such as fresh naan if you catch uncle at a good time! Definitely one to visit if you are in the area!

Food was not really nice, Fish tasted weird and chips not up to it's usual standard

Few hick ups ordering on line, the order got cancelled, phone a the lady sorted it out perfectly. Driver came and didnt have enough change, im a trusting person i gave her the £20 to go and get change. Lady came back and couldn't be more friendly and couldn't apologise more. Excellent customer service 1 star off due to the ordering system to start with. Will order here again. Great staff.

Avoid! Workd here 1 year and the man refused to pay my wage although im a foreigner! He is a waist and makes profits of more than £430 per day yet he refused to pay me £80 per week eventhough i work there 8 hours a day! His a fraudster and avoids his tax paying! His not a nice man!

It is okay...but quality has gone down unfortunately. I did go on a quiet day so not sure if everything was fresh or reheated... Shame. Shop has got a bit run down now

One of the best, on par with blue sub and majors

Had a curry from here tonight and it was absolutely lovely also had garlic fried rice, keema naan and a starter and everything was beautifully cooked, very tasty and will certainly be having another very soon. I recommend this place you won't be disappointed.

This place has gone to pot. No organisation, slow service.

Twice I've visited this place and the chips weren't the best, the portions were generous but they tasted like they were the day before's reheated and they were dry and shrivelled. Prices are reasonable however.

Just all round awful tbh, chips were decent, battered sausage was like chewing a chicken bone, fish was absolutely horrendous it was like eating a piece of cardboard warmed up in microwave for 10 hours. Prices were decent tho

I've tried this chip shop and number of times over the years. And the chips have just been alful on each visit, I'm not sure if it's the potatoes they use or what.. Staff have always been present on my visits and it looks clean and tidy

Orange chips, hell yeah they're delicious! Fish is absolutely cooked to perfection every time too. Always seems to be busy which can only be a good sign as the service is quick

Been here a few times, service is good and the food tastes great, just go as early as you can as the option you want may not be available later in the evening.

Chips from here is the best and cheapest chips you can get anywhere. Its fried with some reddish batter and tastes amazing with loads of vinegar.

There are several takeaways on carter's green that are nearer to where I live than George's, but I would rather walk that bit further to George's to get the best chips in West Brom,

Out dated overdue for time food OK

After hearing how good the food was here, I thought I'd try it. Ordered cheese & onion pasty & chips. What a disappointment costing nearly £4. The pasty was soggy, bland and under cooked while the chips tastes of pure grease and didn't taste fresh. Definitely not the fabulous 'orange chips' of the Black Country.

Price was fine for the quality of the food till you dissapointed me with over dried chicken pieces ,which i get at the evening ,chips were smashed and some mushy and the amount of salt...disappointed

A prime position for a fish and chip shop. I haven't been there myself but I pass it five days a week and there is a big que most days and there's no shops 500 metres in either direction making it popular with all the factories in the area.

Best underrated chippy in West Brom. Has improved as time has gone on and great value for money.
