Passing through on a south west tour And found this chippy lovely friendly staff and customers, I had Fish,chips and a big pot of the best curry sauce I have tasted, and the wife had Sausage dinner, it’s close enough to Dock park to go and eat them there and they were still piping hot as all cooked fresh 10/10 Dave & Tina

A great little seafood take away. The food was fresh with a generous serving size - and the owners were extremely friendly. Looking for some takeaway? You will enjoy - and the price is so cheap for the quality and serve size.

Called in this evening as a tourist passing through. A splendid fish supper and one of the best curry sauces ever! Really good food and top service too!

Googled this place up and it came up as gluten free I would not advise Coeliac affected people to come here as I went in to ask if they done gluten free food only to find out that they have NEVER done gluten free food in the history of this place being open

Fish supper, sausage supper,curry sauce and a single smoked sausage was nearly £20 felt it was a bit pricey but the food was lovely.

One of the best chip shops I have visited in a long time! There was a queue (understandable because the food was great! So the plan is clearly popular), but the staff handled it amazingly. One staff member came out front and took everyone's order then each order was dealt with on turn, swiftly and with a smile. All the staff were friendly and helpful and extremely polite, even apologising for the wait despite it being handled amazingly and I probably got m food faster than I have in some other places where there hasn't been a queue. The staff even involved the customers in some friendly banter and seemed to be very happy and enjoying their work which I always think speaks well of a place! The only downside is that it's too far away from home to be my local, however, next time I am in the area I will definitely return!

I found the pre battered fish a bit odd but thought it may be ok, it wasn't the batter was very thick and soggy. Everything was heated in the microwave and not very warm. The chips were ok but I thought it was quite expensive. I was very disappointed as the reviews all seemed so good.

By far one, if not the best take away chippy in Dumfries. Fabulous fish and chips, cooked to order, large portions, ( a wee bit too much for us older ones!). Staff are welcoming and friendly and very kind. Love it. Thank you George and Co.

First time in Scotland and first time tryin a battered haggis supper Its was absolutely fantastic the batter was crispy and delicious and the haggis was we'll seasoned and full of flavour and the chips with it we're yummy too The staff we're so friendly and welcoming was lovely to chat to them Thankyou for making my visit so wonderful and for the delicious food

Me and my partner are from Scunthorpe and have to say we found George’s chip shop really fab, The staff Were funny and very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to sit in the local park area .food tasted great and the roll was a beautiful Scottish roll which we can’t get as good from home ..Thanks cathy the nurse and Jimmy the singer xx

Bought fish & chips, & battered sausage just after 5pm on a Wednesday evening & I was surprised to see that staff re-fried the fish that was on display to be sold. Then placed the battered sausage which was on display too, in the mircrowave before re-frying too. The fish batter was very greasy, did not bother to try the sausage. Chips were ok.

We're on holiday and we googled fish and chip shops and came across George's and read the reviews. We were not disappointed as they are the best fish and chips we've had for a long while. Good value for money , big portions and staff are very friendly also very helpful. Would highly recommend.

Great food and banter with the owners

Me and the family are up in Dumfries this weekend visiting family. Opted for a fish supper tonight and decided to visit Georges and so glad we did. I had large fish and chips and the Mrs opted for sausage and chips with curry sauce. Food was fantastic, no dripping in grease, and was nice and hot. Just a word of warning we did call and pre-order for collection, obviously rules are different to the normal procedure due to the covid, nether the less every thing was fantastic and we'll no doubt be ordering from here again when we're next in town.

Service was excellent, they came outside and took your order and shouted you in when it was ready. The fish supper was Excellent, hot and very tasty not like some in Dumfries.

I’m not sure about the bad review here but it surprises me as I’ve been coming here for over 2 years now and I’ve never had anything other than a fantastic fish supper on every occasion. Good value l, big portions and friendly staff without exception. I don’t leave reviews but this place really is the best in dumfries.

If there were a no star option I'd chose it. Chips were inedible, so fatty and disgusting, they were tasteless and they all stuck together. The battered sausage was edible but still not that pleasing. Do not recommend and I'm a fan of chips I'll eat any but not these!!
