I like the food there and the service is not to bad then and the stuff is very friendly then ok

Love going to this place on a Saturday morning with my 7 year old for Pokémon Club. Staff are always friendly and more than happy to welcome new comers. It a brilliant place for my son to chat and game with other kids who share the same passion for Pokémon.

This used to be a fun place to be, Although the staff are kind ad considerate, they seem to be under a lot of stress. The change in the atmosphere is palpable. I don't recommend this place anymore unfortunately.

Brilliant place for my autistic grandson to hang out with other home educated people. Staff are amazing and genuinely friendly. We always look forward to going to geek retreat. Disabled accesdability is excellent.

Love it here! Don't be shy, get involved, and it will quickly feel like a shared community space! Even if you don't know any of the games available, someone will be able to teach you.

Walked in just to be nosey as there is nothing like this around us back home. Made feel really welcome, got told about new stock and social media presence. Also been told that if there are items that we need that they can post it out to us if needed as we don't live in the area. Needed up buying a coupe of booster packs and some packs that they make in store.

Started coming along on a Wednesday morning to play chess, always very friendly helpful people working there. Monday boardgame night is great, Nate makes an effort to introduce people to new games and makes it easy to try games out you haven't played before. First time attending the quiz night was good fun. Would recommend trying the drink "London Fog" earl grey tea, hot milk and vanilla.

A perfect selection of simple and cheap snacks and burgers for you to enjoy whilst you play a huge selection of games of all types for free (available for you to purchase new once you have played any of them) This place is just fab and I encourage all to give it a try

Always feel comfortable, lovely food and staff

As a geek, I was really happy to see this place opening in Torquay. As a parent it's even better. My child is autistic, anxious and very withdrawn be around strangers, but absolutely lights up around a D&D table. Can't say enough good things about the place.

I really enjoyed my first day at Geek retreat. Staff were very welcoming, nice drinks and snack selection. Community were very nice, there was clearly something for adults and children to play, which is great. Will be coming back again!!

Wonderful community hub with wonderful staff and great service

This was my first visit to "The Geek Retreat", not knowing it was there as I was visiting Torquay. I stopped as I saw the sign for 'Community Cafe'. From the welcome I had as I walked in , I could not more highly recommend this place. I can not speak for the range of merchandise in store as I did not browse but the menu and food was amazing. Speaking as someone with noise sensitivity, the background music was not to loud , there was no bright or flashing lights. Will certainly visit again .

It's a great atmosphere every time I come to geek retreat. The food and drink is just amazing. Very American-ish. Its just a place for nerds to hang out with fellow nerds and have a blast. Xx

Lovely little haven. Lovely staff and extensive range of geeky events. Was happily surprised to see they have a vegan burger with vegan cheese on the menu, and it's super cheap too!

Great advice about pokemon and creating decks, along with looking out for fakes. Will return for more cards and perhaps a battle 🙂 we did not eat here this time, but will do soon.

We had a fab time at Geek Retreat, we popped in about 4 times during our 2 week holiday to Devon. My son really enjoyed the kids d&d sessions, it was his first time playing and the DM did a really great job running the game and making him feel welcome. It feels like there is a really nice community here as even in the small amount of times I visited I started to recognise people and everyone was so friendly and chatty. Loads of other activities for kids and adults, seems to be really well organised and inclusive. Coffee is pretty good but could be better, I would probably give it 3 stars for the coffee if judging on that alone.

I popped in having seen a sign outside claiming to have the best milkshake in town. I ordered a Chocolate Thunder milkshake for a whopping £5.50. Not the best milkshake in town, but the best milkshake I've ever had! What a great venue btw. Plenty to interest all geeks. And a very friendly welcome from the team. Recommended

Staff is very friendly and kind, we had burgers which was very nice, generous sizes. Fun to go here to enjoy reading comincs and playing games! Highly recommend

Very slow staff. Food cheap and nasty .place for teenagers nothink like the Exeter store .Hopefully will start to get better Need a younger person behind the counter .older man very slow and unhelpful..could be a nice place if sorted

Staff are easy to talk to and enjoy learning the games even ones they don't play.

Great place to go in and chill, play a game, or have a bite to eat. Staff are friendly and passionate about the different hobbies.

Only popped in briefly to see a new shop In the town. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Looks a great place to go and chill out whislt being able to play board games and more. Didn't have any food but the menu did look very good and prices seemed reasonable. Alot of merchandise in store. A great new addition for the town center.

all the Geeks in Torbay needed this place, its the best I try to go down every Wednesday evening for the Yugioh events.

Absolutely brilliant shop what we needed in torquay my son loves to run in and grab some pokemon cards they offer so much from food to games to play while having something to eat or drink I love the shop always stocked with everything someone would need we are going to be bringing our group meeting there we run a group f is for friends and we are all going to go have a cuppa in there ect will be brilliant if you haven't been down there you must its brilliant and people are so friendly they go above and beyond for people

So glad this has opened in Torquay! What a great place to go with the kids and explore their interests further and the cake is to die for will definitely be back.

Great space for all members of the local community to come together. Everything from Pokémon to an OAP get together. Proper burgers with proper meat, awesome milkshakes and great like minded staff. Whether you are into D and D, Pokémon or even chess there is something for you. Pop in, say hi and get your geek on.

We had a great time at Geek Retreat Torbay & enjoyed a good value meal, delicious milkshakes and played one of the free to play board games. There was no pressure to buy anything and the diversity of both the staff and other customers made for a friendly & welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back with friends & family at the first opportunity. Keep up the great work !!

Just what the bay was looking for such an amazing space dor young and old alike. I hear they have got a huge collection of free to read graphic novels.

Since opening, my partner, my children and I have visited several times. Its our new favourite place in Torquay. My six year old loves to play games and has met up with her friends whilst here, and my two year old loves the chalk board wall. She asks to go to Geek retreat for cake now which may become an issue 😂 Honestly there is something for everyone. My neurodivergent teen loves that she can read some manga which supping on a milkshake, I'm hoping to get the chance to attend the literary time and the toddler group too! My partner loves literally everything about the place, and the coffee and vegan cakes are delicious 6 stars if I could ✨️

Absolutely love this place, it's perfect for anyone who is looking for somewhere to go and grab a coffee and make friends, my son loves the pokemon events and has mentioned getting involved in some of the other events the cafe holds. And the fact the hold events for all ages, and no matter the skill set, is amazing, 100% would recommend this place for anyone looking for a good coffee and great company.

Cannot scream and shout about this place enough. Fantastic members of staff, who are always on hand. The food is just AMAZING and the milkshakes... You haven't lived until you have tried one - Absolutely Worth every penny. A brilliant and open space for all things geek culture with a multitude of events on all week from open til Close (which is LATE) This is the thing that Torbay has been needing for so long and now we have it. I seem to have migrated from spending time being a nerd at home to spending it being a geek at the geek retreat.

We always have a great time at the Geek Retreat whether we go to play board games, D&D, read a book or do a bit of crafting. The staff are always friendly and the hot chocolates are always lovely.

Great space to meet people in a safe, fun environment. Board games are there for you to play at any time and themed nights throughout the week. Food and drink are great and very reasonably priced.

Can’t recommend this place enough, really welcoming atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff. It’s got a great community feel with scheduled events running every day aswell as an extensive graphic novel and board game collection we’re making our way through! (They’re all free to read and play!) We attend D&D every week and feel like a real part of the geek retreat community. The foods reasonable and the coffees excellent!

Had a wonderful time visiting the Geek Retreat I work with vulnerable children and brought them in during their 1:1 sessions One girl played chess with the owner and another young person played battleships with his worker The young people enjoyed visiting and want to go back It is very welcoming and our young people felt safe and enjoyed their milkshakes Thanks and we will be returning once term starts again

The staff have been extremely welcoming to me and my 1to1 students who have trouble being in social spaces. The geek retreat has given my students a safe space and confidence to attend groups that otherwise would've taken him forever to get to. Plus the milkshakes are incredible. First time visiting Geek Retreat was buying some Pokemon trading cards for my nephew instead of an Easter egg. Found the staff very polite, helpful and reasonably priced.

Very amazing place! Friendly community and amazing milkshakes! Can go in and have a lovely chat. They also allow me to bring my cats in, which makes it even more special for me as this way I can have a cuppa, a sit down, not be in bad weather and enjoy a chat with someone!

This place is amazing for well us nerds there is sumthing for everyone and even if you cant find it the staff are so willing to help in any way possible will definitely be back 🕷🤘🍕

I first popped in on there first day open and before I knew it over 3 hours had passed by, I then joined there first D&D night (and have been going every week since) and had an awesome time. The staff are great, they greet me by name every time I pop in. The prices for food and merchandise is really fair, the food they offer is always cooked to order and is exceptionally cooked. I hope Nate, Rachel, Luke and co keep up the excellent work, and I for one will definitely be frequenting their shop as often as I can.

Myself and my family (wife and 2 boys) absolutely love this place, the food, milkshakes and friendly atmosphere make it a great place to spend time, relax and unwind. They have a great selection of games to play whilst enjoying a coffee or two as well as a variety of board games, rpg and trading card games on sale to add to your collection. We will be back 🎲🧩♟

I hate to knock it cause torbay really needs more spaces like this, but honestly there was nothing there I wanted, very little it terms of stock and although the space was nice size it seemed mostly wasted. Foods over priced and a bit eh, honestly if I want to eat i'll go to mcdonald's up the road.

First time visiting Geek Retreat and will 100% be back! Lovely staff, welcoming atmosphere, great food and drinks and a lovely sense of community. Couldn't recommend visiting more!
