The best Indian restaurant in London! Amazing food, pretty ambience, super clean, friendly and welcoming service. Great prices for such an authentic establishment visited by many famous people and ex Prime Ministers! I highly recommend! Enjoy!

Lovely place to come for dinner on a cold winters evening.

Sufficiently spicy, great flavor

Visiting the area for the first time, we received a friendly welcome and the food we ordered was hot and delicious so we were very satisfied customers.

Once ate here & it was pretty nice but most recently absolutely awful. Food was the worst I’ve tasted in any Indian restaurant, service arrogant & dismissive & atmosphere stale & unloved. Ruined what was meant to be a birthday treat. Real shame

Amazing prawn puri and tantalising tandoori chicken with amazing garlicky buttery naan with a very crispy poppadum, delicious most definitely recommended.

This was the most favourite and most yummy food i ate in my life. I really enjoyed the service. Especially the waiter who treated us really good. I would recommend this experiences to anyone who is new to indian food and dishesh this is a ten out kf ten food places. I woild go to this palces every day now. I love this. Thanks for the service. We went at a quiet time and it was fine but the tables are very close and it would not be so comfortable when busy. The food was also fine - nothing special but nice enough. The price was also okay - somewhere in the middle range.

My friends and I recently dined at Gandhi on Kennington Road, London, and unfortunately, it was an extremely disappointing experience. From the moment we walked in, the service was abysmal.After being seated and receiving the menu, the staff seemed indifferent and inattentive.We finally managed to place our orders, but to make matters worse, the starters were served cold and the biryani, in particular, had no salt and was completely bland. Finally, we requested water, and the staff brought just one glass. When we kindly requested water for all four of us, the staff rudely muttered, "everything finished," and walked away from our table. He returned with a kettle and another glass, banged it on the table, and just bugged out. How is this acceptable ? Expecting four people to share two glasses is beyond ridiculous. It was downright pathetic and disgusting. The staff lacked professionalism and courtesy throughout the evening. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for them. This level of service is unacceptable for any establishment, let alone one that charges the prices they do. Guys, you are running a god dam restaurant , the first rule is to treat your customers right. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. There are plenty of other places in London where you can enjoy better service and respect as a customer.

Awful experience that ruined the evening. The service was incredibly rude and impolite, and the food was far from authentic. Despite an excessively long menu, it was clear they neglected genuine flavors. Most frustratingly, we were denied water (not kidding). Avoid this place at all costs. The service was beyond terrible; we were even DENIED WATER and expected to SHARE GLASSES, an unacceptable hygiene breach !!

Initial introduction was poor, told there was a 2 hour queue after asking. Walked down the road and then back again and there was 2 free tables. Hearing good things, we tried again. Got a good table and ordered three beers. They were alright, bit flat but did the job. The issues started when we ordered onion bhaji. What arrived were tough and inedible. We asked the waiter if we could return the bhajis, which was quickly denied. We refused to eat anymore. The curries that arrived afterwards (balti and chicken tikka) were very tasty and the nans were buttery and delicious. The food overall was tasty but let down by the inital welcome and dreadful onion bhaji. They were taken off the bill but still felt let down by the service.

One of our favourite local spots in Kennington. Great menu, with plenty of veggie, vegan & GF options. The waiters are so friendly and professional. We always have a delicious meal here (it also got a mention on the Off Menu podcast as Richard Ayoade's favourite Indian restaurant)!

Waited a long time try this magical curry house and was not disappointed. Delightful Lamb Rogan Josh and incredible roti. Dear Gandhi's continue to live up to the name. Merry Christmas!

Vegetarian curry was a load of tinned vegetables tipped in curry sauce. Thought it would be nostalgic and interesting but it’s just stuck in the past.

Always the go to choice for takeaway

We ordered four dishes and none of them tasted good. The vegetables were canned vegetables, and the chicken was tough.

Nice Ambience and located in a good place. Staff members were very helpful. They have good options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

Short walk from the Park Plaza Riverbank hotel. They greeted me with a warm smile and quickly got me a table. The food was great and the prices were reasonable. I’ll definitely go back!

I ordered chicken tikka jalfrezi, a little bit oily but the spice level was just right, very tasty. Garlic naan was fresh, poppadoms and chutney perfect, with a nice glass of reasonably priced wine. The prices were very reasonable, the restaurant very clean. It was early when I got there, about 6pm, so I was the only person there. The only reason I gave 4 stars for atmosphere was that the waiters were having a very loud and lively conversation throughout my meal right next to me at the front counter.

We ordered the vegetable korma, paneer chaslick, pulao rice a couple of naans and the vegetarian thali. Vegetable korma was good but the other dishes were disappointing. The waiting staff were not friendly and we were surprised to receive a hand-written bill when paying.

As stated to previous 1 star review, we had no plates to clean as we didn't have any starters. The waiter serving us was so rude. 1. We did have a reservation for 6 people 2. We did have poppadoms but that's it. Nothing else. 3. We had asked for one change to our order but got spoken to like we were the bottom of their shoe, no respect at all. The waiter turned our back on us as if we weren't worth speaking to. It was as if the customer didn't matter. 4. We had asked to change the starters as per our order but were completely disrespected by the staff. 5. Ruined the night for the couple next to us by the sheer audacity of rudeness from the "manager". He didn't want to work with us and showed complete ignorance. 6. The bill came on a post it note, with no lined items. Has anyone else ever had their bill served to them on a post it note?! I would avoid this place like the plague. Found another restaurant called Mumbai Delight. Go to here instead!!

Used to be my 2nd home when I lived in Kennington best Chicken madras ever !

Nice small restaurant on the edge of Kennington and Vauxhall. The Oval Cricket ground is a short walk away, so good for a post-game/days play curry! I visited solo, without a reservation but was seated straightaway without fuss. I ordered a starter and main course, both generously proportioned and very good value for money. Serves just 2 draught beers, Kingfisher and Cobra. Wine selection looked good and selection of spirits on offer too. Other customers asked to box up their uneaten food when dining in and this was accommodated with the minimum of fuss. I haven’t come across this very often myself, so a pleasant surprise and good to see it offered.

The starters were quite average the main food was delicious but not exceptional. Beers on tap tasted off which was off putting.

Never have I had a better Indian dinner. We shared some onion bhaji to star and they are very nice. For mains we had the lamb massala and chicken tikka massala accompanied with garlic narn, pilau rice, saag alo and bombay alloo. It was all a perfect amount of spice for both of us. The bombay alloo is the best I ever had by far, it was so flavourful but still had a nice kick of spice. Never have I eaten more of the sauce to cool the spice that the sauce is giving me. Top recommended

Review for delivery via Deliveroo. Delivery was quick - food was warm. There is a pattern of reviews mentioning watery bland curry, and that's on here for a reason. Overall - quite average. Got the Gandhi's special for two, with a mixed meat starter followed by prawn bhuna, mixed veg curry, lamb Rogan Josh, rice and naan. The mixed meat starter was dry and overcooked. Tough prawns. Tough piece of chicken thigh. Maybe much better eating in - but then it shouldn't form part of the special for two for takeaway. The only good curry was the lamb Rogan josh - very rich, beautifully soft lamb. Really quite good. The prawn bhuna and mixed veg curries were very very bland. Almost watery - no real care or thought gone into the preparation. Real shame given the high standard of the lamb curry. Naan was nothing to write home about, overly sweet and cold on arrival. Kulfi was a nice touch. Can easily be improved but Gandhi's need to up their game. Chatkara is not as refined a restaurant, but much better curry and naan. Same for Chillies tandoori.

Poor tasting curry, lacked flavour. Really watery sauce & overcooked tough chicken. Onion bhaji was amazing however. Would be hesitant to order again & hoping it was just an off night for the restaurant …

It was soooo nice. Very delicious food for a absolutely fair price, a very comfortable restaurant and kind service. We'll come back!

None of the other nearby indian restaurants do authentic food apart from kebab hut (east st) and chatkhara (e&c). Ghandis is much better to sit in and eat at than either of those two. The other local restaurants (KT, Taste of India and Cafe Ishtaq) all seem to be catering for an undiscerning western palate. Great service too. I've been going here for 5 years now. My favourites are the Methi Gosht, Muttar Paneer and chapattis.

Great food & great service as always

Got some takeaway from here on the weekend. Honestly, so-so. The curries seemed a bit watery although the flavours weren't bad. But compared to other curries, this place was a bit of a let down.

The food was generally good, although be warned that the veggie curries (which come with the option of either paneer or mixed vegetables) are made with frozen vegetables. We even saw them bring in bags from Iceland while we ate! Tell-tale signs include not-very-typical veg like broccoli, and skinned baby carrots. As a result that curry was bland, watery, and a con. The veg side dishes were excellent though.

Best Indian food I think I’ve ever had. Very very good value for money and amazing service. Such friendly staff and very professional. Lucky we got in when we did as it got busy! Couldn’t decide favourite dish as they were all so mouth watering !

Ordered a very nice takeaway! Loads of vegan options and everything was full of flavours. Stuffed paratha was amazing.

I came in on a Tuesday evening and there was only one other party of 2 there. The inside is really nice with the table dining set up as fine dining setting! I like the ambiance and there’s also a bar in the front of the store. I ordered the lamb Signature Balti. This is probably the best Indian food I’ve ever had (I’m from the states and heard that the UK has the best Indian food!) The sauce was so rich and the lamb pieces were so tender. The portion of meat was great as well. Theres a few bits of onion and peppers in the dish. The naan was freshly cooked and soft to touch/taste. I literally cleaned up my plate and it was enough for 1.5 people! At the end of the course, the server gave me a warm packaged towelette and mint chocolate with the check. Worth every bite and pleasant experience. Highly recommend!!

The service is very good but the food is not what it used to be. I find dishes sweeter than what they should be. They taste like Indian ready made meal instead of the authentic Indian home cooked cuisine I love. I'm not sure why this has happened and if I go to an Indian restaurant it's to eat the real deal not some westernised version. It's a real shame.

I would not listen to the star ratings and reviews. Food was cold, tasteless, meat was tough. My order was wrong also.

Poor customer service & very poor food quality. Under cooked chicken, rice was cold and if that wasn’t enough, they got my rice wrong and very poor sauce with my curry. I called to tell them I was disappointed as I live local to see if it was possible to get an exchange for my food, wasn’t the case they said next time? Well to be fair there won’t be a next time. Very disappointed and I will be letting all my local neighbors know that their food isn’t a 4star rated Indian, better off going to the Pizza Hut next door.

This place is not stroller friendly + the guy inside was super rude about it. Asked us to take out instead!

Love this place! I have been eating here for over 25 years and still remains my go to place when I fancy a good curry. Would thoroughly recommend the non vegetarian Thali.

I have just ordered take away from Ghandis restaurant but in contrast to the other reviews on google the quality of food has been well below par. The amount of food provided for each portion has also been very very poor. I received 3 pieces of chicken in my chicken curry along with several pieces of tomato disguised as chicken. My wife's tandoori selection also lacked flavour and was not at all worth the money. I do not usually write reviews but the food that we just ate was of such bad quality I felt compelled to do so on this occasion..!
