I took my grandchildren in to have a look around the exhibitions. We were told that there was a room where the children could go and paint an L.S.Lowry collage. My grandchildren loved it. We then went into the children's library. There's several areas of seating and even a coat rack to hang your coats and bags. They had a little treasure hunt there and again, really enjoyed looking around for the pictures. All the staff in every area was really friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back. We'd definitely recommend going either as a family or even for some quiet time, looking around alone. A very pleasant place to be.

It's a very interesting building. It is clean, airy, and modern. The gallery is on the upper floor, and once found is easy to navigate. Once found! The art on display is relevant and well selected. Visitors can expect to see something of interest to them personally. When I visited, I was frustrated by two things. Poor signage, and the cafe seemed to be closed to the public (the only notice was a hand written note on the door). I would not want to put anyone off visiting Gallery Oldham, but hand-on-heart I cannot recommend it either.

I didn't have time to explore all of it but what I did see was impressive. Its a great space handily in the centre of Olham and so easy to get to by Metrolink.

You can find the a good collection of art 🎨 classic and contemporary painting, ceramic and some museum articles. The Gallary hold exhibitions for local artists some regular and some special. Which encourages local artists when these events are done. To get to it is a bit not easy because the traffic in Oldham and especially in that area is not easy to negotiate whoever there is a free parking 🅿 there for enough time to explore it. The metrolink is not far from it. If have time you can check the library which is in the same building

Gallery Oldham is a free-to-view public art gallery in the Cultural Quarter of central Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. Designed by architects Pringle Richards Sharratt, Gallery Oldham was completed in its original form in February 2002. The art gallery integrates local museum and gallery services. An extension to include the £13 million Oldham Library and Lifelong Learning Centre opened in April 2006. The building has library and learning facilities. Programming incorporates Oldham's art, social and natural history collections alongside touring work, newly commissioned and contemporary art, international art and work produced with local communities. The gallery holds the civic collection of Oldham and much of that of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Oldham. With no permanent displays and four temporary galleries to fill, Gallery Oldham has one of the busiest exhibitions programmes in the region. Exhibitions mix touring shows with work from the gallery's own collection of art, social history and natural history. The gallery holds work by local artists including Helen Bradley, William Stott and Alan Rankle and its collections include work by British artists L. S. Lowry, John William Waterhouse and Bridget Riley. In recent years the gallery has built up a collection of studio pottery and displays ceramic works by modern makers.

This cafe is in a lovely setting with loads of comfortable seats and tables. The menu is very wide and varied doing a extensive range of panninis, welsh rarebits, jacket potatoes, salads, cakes and numerous other meals, and a range of teas, coffees, and a range of cold drinks.I had a amazing salad a brunch salad consisting of a large amount of mixed leaves, tomatoes, sauted potatoes, , bacon pieces, a lovely slice of black pudding, a poached egg, 2 thick slices of toasted wholemeal bread and butter all delicious. I had a punk chai latte to drink which tasted amazing full of flavour cinnamon and spice. My son loved his baked bean and lincolnshire sausage jacket potato and side salad and his cup of tea. My wife enjoyed her carrot cake and latte.Good service and a wide and expensive menu. Recommended.

Where do I start. On entering this place it was a typical greasy spoon and the food further enhanced that!!!When I was placing the order the cook and the woman taking the order were shouting at each other about orders because the cook was clearly getting muddled up with orders why she didn’t have them written down is beyond me.We was watching them and noticing all the different food safety regulations she had broken. For instance; not washing her hands once whilst we were there, not wearing gloves and cleaning with the same hands as serving. We watched her plate up our food and she literally threw my mums cheese pie on her plate and then recooked the chips that were dripping in fat on the plate. As for my scampi salad the scampi was over cooked or reheated and as you can see from the picture it wasn’t much of a salad!!!! I tried my scampi and it was rock hard so I decided to have a go at the measly salad after one bit I find a blond curly hair in it, quite convenient as the server had blond curly hair. Needless to say we left hungry!!!

Both a gallery and library, this place has been a staple in the town of Oldham for as long as I can remember. The library has a good spot to take little kids to read, it also occasionally offers events to do here. The gallery is a good place to learn about the history of the town as well as offering actual art to view. There is also a lovely bit about bees with a sofa and a small table full of things for kids to do to learn about bees as well as an actual bee hive on the landing (outside).

A decent gallery with small range of exhibits, some specifically Oldham related, which is good. I do think more could be made of the space however, and although I am passionate about all aspects of art, there wasn't enough here to occupy me for any more than an hour tops. It's above the library, and there is a handy car park within 200metres, with a cafe downstairs in the library building. It's worth one visit , just to check it out.

Ordered four fish & chip meals in addition to two other choices. All four were served up with overcooked chips many of which were dark brown and crispy. Two members of party did eat the chips. Fish was excellent but chips spoiled what should have been a nice family meal. Nowhere near H U normal standard.
