Beautiful food! Great service. Had amazing dinners here but also great breakfast! Love sitting in the garden when it’s warm too!

Fab Shakshuka for lunch today. Piping hot and full of flavour. Eggs Furtavo also nicely presented. Add to that service with a smile to make what was a really good Tuesday lunch

We zagen in het centrum van dit plaatsje dit restaurant en besloten te stoppen voor een breakfast. We bestelden het traditionele breakfast en een locale breakfast met poached eggs. Beiden werden met liefde bereid en smaakten voortreffelijk. De bediening was heel erg vriendelijk. Eén super lokatie om op korte afstand van de grote weg te eten. Echt een aanrader!

Great food great service and not expensive my favourite place to eat in great dumow

The staff at Galatea are welcoming and friendly, and could not do enough for you, however the food is disappointing and far too expensive. I ordered calamari from the hot meze selection costing 6 pound, to be given two clearly frozen and tasteless rings of calamari on a bed of lettuce. To add to this other items from my breakfast were missing, despite also having to wait a long time for the food to be brought to the table . I would recommend this place for the customer service, however the food is not great and far too pricey.

Visited with a group of friends this evening. A first time visit for most of us, and we weren't disappointed. Amazing food. I had the calamari main, and lotus cheesecake for afters, I would 100% recommend all of it. Lovely coffee with .y pudding. Everyone left with full bellies. Lots to choose from on the menu. Great atmosphere and fab service

Went for birthday celebration. Lovely warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Great food and service with a smile. Love this little, homely and very friendly restaurant in the heart of Dunmow. Great for just a coffee (even offer take away) lunch or evening meal and owner always happy to help me with my Turkish - tesekkurler 😊

Stopped off for lunch with a friend whilst we were geocaching in the area. Service was a bit slow but once the girl came, I ordered the lamb shish and my friend, sausage sandwich plus an Oreo milkshake. My meal was nicely presented and very tasty. The sausage sandwich presentation looked very basic but it was also tasty. Food and drinks came to £24 and we were on our way again

Very warm interior design felt so cosy and comfortable, was in there a long time and was never rushed or bothered, was going in for just a drink,but while I was watching all the delicious food go past me I had to order something, went for an omelette and it was delicious,,would throughly recommend this cafe ,like stepping back in time ,amazing little place for lunch a spot of food 😀

Visited with a friend to celebrate a landmark birthday over early evening drinks and a meal. We had been before, and wanted to return and sit on the decked area, which is a real sun trap and a lovely place to sit in the early evening sunshine. We had some very tasty chargrilled flat bread to nibble on while we awaited our mains. My lamb Kleftiko was absolutely delicious, as was my friends main. We felt too full for dessert, but we were surprised by the waitress and I think owner who appeared with a delicious brownie complete with a lit candle and sang Happy Birthday to my friend. Such a kind & lovely touch, which really made the evening. The waitress was so friendly, as was the owner and the staff we met from the kitchen. We can’t thank them all enough for such a lovely evening.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food however you really need to up your game in toilet cleanliness. Pretty disgusting really - both gents and ladies

Me and my partner decided to have dinner here last night. Beautiful restaurant with first class service. Turkish food is one of my favorites and this place topped all the restaurants I've been to in the past. Highly recommend the mixed grill, perfection! If we are ever visiting this town again will definitely dine here again!

Tomato soup was delicious and served with warm pitta bread.My husband had Lamb Kofta & I had stuffed Aubergine.We both enjoyed our meals.😋 Would recommend it! It was our first visit & will happily return.

We had a wonderful experience at Galatea today. We had planned to eat elsewhere, further out from Dunmow but were let down, and needed to find a last minute alternative (within the next 30 minutes for a party of 8!). I searched a few venues, but the vegetarian options were incredibly limited for those in our party. Came across some good reviews of Galatea so called on the off chance, and the lady on the phone was incredibly helpful and managed to rustle up a table for our 2 families of 4 to sit together. From the moment we came in, the hostess (Kamala, I believe) had an instant rapport with the kids, and was so incredibly kind and considerate. The menu offered a very reasonably priced and varied selection of dishes; ranging from breakfast, brunch and Turkish dinner options, and lots of choice for vegetarians. Everyone's food was delicious, and we felt attended to the whole time. It's a very cosy venue, but there was a real local feel and so welcoming. This really was such a little gem to come across, and we thank our lucky stars that there was space available as it saved our day and we had such a lovely visit. Would definitely recommend!

Our party of 18 were seated in a separate room on a long table. We were quickly issued with menus and drinks were served. All good so far but on an exceptionally cold evening in December the room was decidedly chilly which put a slight damper on the experience while the food and drinks were at the top of the price range. The food was good so it was still an enjoyable experience and it was a varied menu that would surely satisfy faddy eaters while the service was efficient and friendly. I do hope that this restaurant survives these tough times because overall it was a memorable experience though I would hope that the heating issue is sorted and that the prices are reduced or at least kept at a more reasonable and affordable level.

restaurant very cold and empty apart from on other table of 2 . The starter was ok but very small portion , mains were just ok nothing special . The real disappointment came with the bill and the realisation that we had been charged nearly 6 pounds for 2 soda waters and an extra 1 pound for 2 of the smallest slices of lime i have ever seen . we left feeling slightly ripped off and very disappointed so wont be returning

Visited last night, six of us in the party. Received a friendly greeting and we were seated. Had a bit of a dilemma on selecting from menu, so the Chef advised us. In the end we chose a selection of small plates to share for starters, these were delicious. For mains we decided to try more of the small plates and a couple of dishes from the main menu, all to share. We were all very impressed at the selection, all washed down with very good red and white wines. We will be back.

Great food and service, our daughter is coeliac which they’ve been great at catering for. A good place to go with the kids (back room has books etc) and the staff and team are very friendly.

We started with the mixed cold meze and bread - fantastic!! Seat outside in the courtyard was lovely on a warm evening. This will be our go to restaurant in Dunmow from now on👍😊

What a warm welcome and super lunchtime menu. We had Eggs Royale on sourdough and shakshuka, both beautifully presented, absolutely delicious, great portions and excellent runny eggs all round. Really relaxed vibe full of locals catching up.

Stumbled on this place for lunch. Great selection of food with traditional british and turkish items. There is a great outside space at the back of the restaurant, which is sheltered from the breeze and a real sun trap.

Delicious food, if you want to have some good time go there.

Very good Turkish food. Tasty, but light, the rice is very nice. The sea bass was excellent and quite a large serving. All cooked fresh and really delicious. Only a few miles from the Travel Lodge in Gt Dunmow, if you are staying near the Airport.

Waitress couldn't smile, didn't look around to see if anyone needed anything. We ordered 2 sharing plates, each around £10 and the food on them was not enough. Got one small bowl of bread. Went to say we were not happy and got given another bowl of bread. Wuantoy of food and service disappointing.

First time we have been here, and we will definitely be back! The food was fantastic, hot meze starter, and for mains lamb kofte, and lamb with yoghurt...all very tasty. Service was great, good wine list, and they have efes lager...one of my favourites.
