Funky Tastes Fusion in Cardiff

This has to be the best Nigerian Restaurant in Cardiff I have tried. Friendly service and delicious food. I recommend.

Best African restaurant in town!

Portions are very sizable, and food tastes good.

I enjoyed dining at Funky Tastes Fusion and trying their jollof rice with portions of beef. The dish was simply amazing! The flavours were rich and complex, with a perfect balance of spice. The meat was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was cosy and inviting. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious African dishes.

Really bad takeout. Literally food that was microwaved. Plenty of rice without any taste to it. 0 veg. Chicken was microwaved. I paid £10 for jollowrice and I could have had a better meal if I microwaved a bag of rice myself. Shocked actually. I couldn’t even finish the meal.

Went out for dinner with a friend on their recommendation and it was great!! I had the egusi soup with pounded yam and I must say it went down a treat. Great service and tasty authentic African food with great vibes.

This was my first time I went to funky tastes, I really love the ofada rice and that is my first meal from her you won’t believe it’s taste so yummy, I had to order isiewu trust me her isiewu is the best in Cardiff…thank you funky tastes you are the best

I tried their fried rice for the first time today and it was 10/10. Literally takes me back to Nigerian party fried rice 👌🏾👌🏾

I got Amala and ewedu, food was worth every penny, the service was top notch. I’m definitely coming back again ✌🏽

The space is clean and the food is incredibly delicious! The amala and gbegiri transported me back home with their authentic flavors and perfect spice levels. The amala was soft and fluffy, while the meat was tender and fell-off-the-bone. I highly recommend this place to anyone craving a taste of home

Neat, vibey place run by a friendly couple. Food might be a bit pricier than other options but I promise, it’s worth every pound. Regardless of what you order, you’ll get fresh tasting, well cooked, mouth watering, authentic Nigerian dishes and drinks. Worth the trip, if you’re in the city center. My friends and I had a blast!

I walked by this African restaurant after arriving in Cardiff as a tourist. Welcoming owners and staff. I enjoyed my veggie rice, and a side of spinach mixed with pieces of seafood. Thank you and good luck!

We always come back the best food

When it comes to food, I'm usually not one for writing reviews, but I must say after experiencing just how beautiful their chicken tastes I absolutely felt obligated. It really tastes that good. In fact I would go has far to say it's probably the best chicken I've ever tasted! And bear in mind I'm a middle aged man whose lived in many different countries. The chicken is so fresh & tasty that I always order two pieces with one container of half red rice and half fried rice (African style) which is enough for a average size meal on that day and another one for the following day. (Btw no juice needed) Not quite sure if I'm receiving discount but it comes to £12.99 Im onto a winner and maybe you could be too.

One of the best experiences i've had in Cardiff in a while. Would defo recommend it for everyone! the traditional food was amazing.

Myself and my partner ordered a meal each with a soft drink each, pounded yam , okra soup with 2 bits of beef, jollof rice with one chicken leg. Prices are on the board. After we ate we went to pay and she added it up then said I need to add 20% VAT so be warned prices on board is not what you pay . We paid £35 for food heated up in microwave, I couldn’t believe it I was shocked and thought my husband had ordered extra food for take away but he hadn’t. Totally not with the money and false advertising price list. We were told after we had eaten they add 20% VAT on top absolutely shocking , should be advertised clearly and told before ordering. If I had known we would never have eaten there.

Amazing food, would highly recommend, 5 star service too.

So the dish was microwavable rice and beef made out of hard rubber tyres. For 8 quid. Never sell that again pleas for the good of cardiff City. I feel bad for that cow that was turned into tyres to be served here.

This was my first time in an African restaurant in cardiff and it was AMAZING. Had the amala with ewedu and gbegiri. Delightful! The portions were generous. They also have a student discount Monday to Wednesday! It's right next to the African stores which is very convenient too. They do delivery x

It was soooo good, I went there with my Mum. I loved the food soo much, especially the amala. It's been so long since I've seen an African(Nigerian) restaurant since I came here. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures. I highly recommend this restaurant for African (Nigerian) food lover's ❤️🔥.

Made to feel very welcome! Never tried African food before but the owner was extremely helpful in recommending food to try. Everything was delicious! Massive portions and everything tasted fresh! Can't wait to try more dishes soon.. And bring some friends. Thank you for making us feel so welcome

New place. 0Just amazing Nigerian dishes. Totally recommend the jollof rice. You can get Amala. In Cardiff, that's a first. Nice traditional Nigerian tunes to give you the Nigerian restaurant feeling.
