Work in Halifax quite often. Called in on way back this dinner time. Absolutely cracking Haddock, chips and peas. Cooked the proper way.

Very poor food wouldn’t return and very over priced

Fish was good chips didn't seem to be freshly cooked and the price was over the top would not go back

I live fairly nearby and have been going to fryer tucks for ever...the fish and chips are always on point and the extras- curry sauce and mushy peas and gravy are always delicious- I have invited folk from the other end of the country to come try these fish and chips in the past, and they have always been astounded by the quality and value of the food... My only advice is...if you know your going to have fish and chips from fryers, don't eat for at least 24hrs before...anyone that goes there will understand why...try some for yourself and see!...

Wouldn't go anywhere else. Always massive portions and freshly cooked. The lady behind the counter is always friendly and welcoming with a lovely big smile.

Really has gone down hill. Prices sky high and fish is never fresh, was so rock solid could off used it as a worktop. Chips are alright tho

Delicious Fish and Chips, cooked with beef dripping - huge portion sizes with crispy batter and tasty mushy peas on the side. Card payments are accepted (Visa and Mastercard only). Excellent value for money - we will be back the next time we're treating ourselves! UPDATE AUG-22: pleased to see that nothing has changed since we had fish and chips earlier in the year - still cooked to perfection, very generous portion sizes and quick service. If you want Fish and Chips in Lightcliffe / Hipperholme, this is the place to go.

Always brilliant, friendly staff, good food and great portions if you're a greedy pig...if not, get the kids portions, they're STILL bigger than the normal size from a regular chip shop. Prices have rocketed...£8.50 for small Fish & Chips, £10.50 for a large Fish & Chips. Portion sizes have gone down though

I was in the area so thought why not do had fish and chips to take out. Absolutely beautiful. Fish was very chunky. But at £9.90 for one portion I don't think I'll be returning.

If anyone last month had asked me which is the best fish and chip shop in Yorkshire I would have said fryer tuck hipperholme But the last 2 times we have got fish chips and mushy peas They have been uneatable at £9.70 for fish chips nd mushy peas I expected a nice meal But chips were hard and cold fish batter was hard and half the size of fish we usually get And mushy peas were completely tasteless So will not be going again A lot of people have said its suddenly gone down in standards And dont know what the problem is I hope they get back to the best fish and chips otherwise I think they will be losing customers who have used them for over 20yrs

Great fish and chips and I go out of my way to go here. Big queue last Friday and waited some time to be served due to restrictions of people in shop etc.

So many poor points about this Fish & Chip takeaway. 1) Walk past daily last week outside the side gates (swilled out into the road from the side of their shop) was hundreds of maggots. 2) Sign in the window to say a mask should be worn, this is acceptable unless exempt but it says if exempt that proof is required. We certainly don't have to show medical records to the owner of a Fish & Chip shop if we were exempt, i am not but it's disgusting for people who are & don't wish to disclose their health to a Fish Shop owner 3) The Fish i got was disgusting, it looked like it had been in the frier all day, however it was completely slimey in the batter. When i saw the maggots a few days after it makes me wonder what was served. 4) The owner (elderly gentleman) is arrogant, rude and scruffy. I certainly won't be back here, what a shocking Fish & Chip shop and so dirty.

Good chippy.. Look.. it’s not award winning but who cares.. it’s very good quality and the portion sizes are better than most places.. I particularly like their mushy peas.. Also much love to the owners.. Really nice people whom always make you feel welcome.. If you’re in the area and hungry give em a try 😊👌🏻👍🏻

A good four mile round trip by foot frrom where i live and its a good job because the portion sizes are massive Quality on every visit the best chippy around by far

Would give 0 if poss. Staff and son so rude no compassion at all. Avoid at all costs. The hippy haddock about 2 mins away soooo much better. Update The owners responce is not true. They have changed story to suit them

My go-to for great fish and chips, you get a large fish together with a large portion of chips. Also the curry sauce is exceptional, it never disappoints, and is a real treat.

Well I came in and there was a raw marcel on the floor! I slipped on it and my toe fell off. Very inconvenient. The owner then started to yell at me because I had apparently scared his dog. He was wafting his arms about as if he was about to conduct an orchestra... blimey! I asked for a battered sausage and he said he didn’t have any because he closed in 3 hours, didn’t know they took that long to make. Anyway I decided to pick up my missing toe and leave to go eat a piece of cake from the corner shop down the road instead. What a silly man he was!

incredibly rude staff. stood in and perused the menu for 2mins, an hour and a half before closing time.. ask for something, 'not got that', oh ok no problem, asked for another thing 'nope. none of them'. 'oh no worries, what about whatever one of those is behind you with some chips' - 'no chips, were closed.' complete with wafting hand gestures so as to fan us out of the shop. right... ok. won't be going back.

A very typical OLD real Chip Shop! No frills just GOOD honest to god Fish and Chip Shop. Family run with a belting couple serving HUGE potions of Haddock and Chips. Always cooked to perfection! And served with a BEAMING SMILE. Drive by?? YOUR LOSS ample parking!

Superb traditionally cooked fish and chips! Best by far in Halifax. Lovely, kind owners and staff. Well priced and always cooked fresh. Ample portions too! Well worth the trip! I live in Sussex and always take some fish back with me for the freezer. A little reminder of home!

Stumbled upon this plaice by missed hake when I was pout delivering... As someone who cannot pass a chippy I've never tried before without stopping and getting at least a portion of chips, I can honestly say these are the best fish and chips I've ever had in all the time I've been delivering in and around Yorkshire. Quality is bob-on and the portion size is what you would expect for the money you pay. So many good chippies in Yorkshire charge a lot for so little. Fish and chips are ridiculously priced now and when I buy them I want feeding and Fryer Tucks does that every time. Sadly I don't deliver round that area any more and nothing since has even come close to the food they served me. I look forward to the day I get to go there again. I just hope they're as good then as they've been. Oh by the way, lovely fella and his equally lovely Mrs runs the shop. Always polite and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Foods nice and good portions. the husband just stands behind the counter letting wife do everything so expect a big queue some days. half the time you have to wait for something to cook because it's not been made.

Best fish & chips for miles around If you're looking for great value great take away food then you'll not go far wrong going here. It's a very traditional take out chippie but what I find brilliant is the size of the portions. Fish always cooked freshly and the amount of chips is phenomenal. In this age of trying to get more from less Fryer Tuck's stands out as bucking the trend. OK fish & chips might not be regarded as a healthy option these days but who cares for the best around you'll not get better!!

Visited this chip shop last week found the owner one of the most rudest person I have ever met entered the shop with another customer only to be made to wait 5 minutes until his clock hit 11.30 which was 5 minutes slow for him to say I suppose I'm open now ordered food an d left only to return with one meal as the pie was stone cold the rest of the meal what can I say chips poor and the fish terrible will not return

The best fish and chips I've ever had, portions are massive!!! Beautiful, white, thick, chunky haddock and a large chips feeds a family of 4. Anyone with any complaints should try fish and chips from the Portsmouth area where I live, down there you pay £8 for haddock and chips, the fish is always boney and tail end and the chips are enough for one person. I will always come back to this fish and chip shop when visiting relatives!!! 5******
