Frydays Cod & Cake in High Peak

I have been visiting Frydays for a while now. In my years out on the tools I’d call in once a week for my lunch. After changing jobs I don’t go get to visit as much as I would like to. Having said this, I’ve just had a drive out to Frydays with my family for our tea. It is hands down the best fish and chips you can get. This and the fact that the staff are always warm and welcoming and the music is always top notch too. Well worth a visit.

Superb Fish and Chips, friendly staff, and well organised for taking and preparing your order. Don't forget to try their cakes!

Frydays Cod and Cake is probably one of the the best chippy's you could ever visit ! Doubles as a cafe/chippy in the daytime and as a takeaway chippy and restaurant at night! You know how good the place is as there will be a queue outside(particularly on a Friday). However, don't let that put you off, as excellent customer service ensures that you don't have to wait long ! Family run ,Dennis and his team work hard to produce excellent quality food ,with excellent portions that are really tasty and very reasonably priced-served with a smile! We particularly like eating in the cosy restaurant -which also has a bar selling alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks.(although it might be worth ringing to reserve a table). A great advert for the town and worth a visit if you are a tourist!

Love this chippy. It has gluten free options and staff are great.

As my wife is Gluten Free, we decide to try the fish and chips, which were cooked fresh. There is a small seating area in the rear of the premises which was quite busy. Staff were helpful and friendly so all good. The let down for us was that the chips, and the fish were quite greasy, which we did not enjoy. A shame as the chippy is a nice place.

Drove by Frydays on a Saturday evening for Chippy tea to take out. I ordered fish, chips and gravy and partner had same with curry sauce instead. Got served quickly and staff were friendly. Cost us about £21.40 which we know chippy's are dear nowadays but what we got was worth it. Large fish and loads of chips so got what we paid for. Tasted great! Only problem is couldn't find price list and menu beforehand as thinks its only on facebook which I don't use that garbage.

Belting chippy, best one I've used, so lucky to have a good one nearby, great chippies are a rare find, the food is spot on, never disappoints & friendly staff too! Had my usual fish, chips & peas tonight and a sausage for our dog, he loves it 😋 * I notice someone from Australia has left a poor review, he must have got the wrong chippy as the food is excellent, he says the chips were dry and greasy, not sure how chips can be dry & greasy at the same time...

Underwhelming experience as we had heard loads of good things about this fish and chip shop. Poor customer service & the chips were cold, dry and greasy. What a shame. Edit: thanks for your response. We visited your shop on 2/4/24 in the late afternoon. My location is in Australia as that’s where I live currently, but am actually from the UK and back here to visit. No need to discuss further, just giving an honest review about our experience :)

Best fish and chips in a long time

Wonderful tasty chips and had the most amazing vanilla slice and lemon layer cake today. Wow! All yummy. Lovely, friendly people too.

Best chippy for miles around! Delicious food, generous portions and a friendly atmosphere. I would recommend eating in and enjoying a slice of one of the amazing cakes if you've got room left after your dinner

Always reliable with food quality and staff friendliness and always happy to serve you. Best chip shop for counties.. been coming here for years.. Restaurant great to sit in and relax as well. Amazing family fun business.

Always top quality fish and chips whether you prefer cod or haddock. Cooked to order and service with smiles all round. Even cater for the sweet tooth with fresh array of cakes, cookies and hot drinks. Definitely recommend

Visited friends and they showed me the best chippy around. Very friendly hosts, nice ambience and very delicious cod and mushy peas.

I was attending as a group with people who need support. The staff were amazing, so welcoming and cheerful. They made us all feel very accommodated especially for the needs of some of the people. The food was really tasty and the price was comparable with the quality. I would like to thank all the staff there for making our eating experience easy and wonderful. If passing through whalley bridge I will 100% make the effort to come back!!!!

What a wonderful team of people! They are so helpful and kind I was having a very hard time this evening with my two young children and needed to leave quickly due to my 1 year old having a melt down in the restaurant. I was given so much support-the owner actually helped me out the door and then looked me in the eye and told me I was a great mum- I can’t tell you what that meant to me in that moment. Why have I not been here before?? We were just having chips to take out, but sat in instead, wow it was scrumptious, the (boss )man he was funny, wanted a round of applause every time he appeared 😂 really nice staff, great food ❤️

Excellent gluten free fish and chips, very friendly service. We had take out, but you can eat in. Also other gluten free options and cakes on the counter. Definitely 5 stars

We have not been in for a few years, it was just called frydays last time we visited. It is now a whole lot better, our meal was top notch, we had cod, chips mushy peas, curry sauce and a cup of tea, the menu was really extensive, with lots of home made meals, the staff were really friendly. We will certainly be going back for more.

Lovely chips good value for money

Lovely little chippie, more like a cafe, very friendly, helpful staff. Nice to have indoor seating and table service plus takeaway option. Freshly cooked fish, batter is lovely. Lots of menu options, including alcohol, they even had earl grey tea served in a tea pot & cake! Breakfast also available until 11.30am which we will probably try today! 😋 We walked down so not sure about parking facilities.

What a brilliant find! Just completed a run in the Peak and wanted coffee n cake. Thought it was shut at first but the very friendly staff invited us in and explained they were open for coffee and cakes. Very nice coffee - not bitter just good! Excellent cakes too. All rounded off with exceptionally friendly staff and great service. What a great spot 👍🏼

A busy Saturday evening service the fish was cooked to order and was well worth the wait. Delicious cod with a crispy batter. Mushy peas were nice an thick; no runny sauce. Even got to get a slice of yummy chocolate brownie to finish of our meal.

Food is good and good value. Staff are friendly. New seating area is excellent.

Amazing new local chippy for us! I had a small fish & chips, my wife had the cheese and onion pie & chips. Curry sauce was amazing too. All so tasty, can't wait to go back!

Stopped here on a long bike ride and ordered a fish that was cooked fresh. I have to say it was one of the best fish I have ever had. Piping hot, lovely crisp batter and the fish was beautifully cooked, yum.

Best fish and chips in the High Peak, which is why you need to go early! Impressed with how seriously they take cleanliness especially during the pandemic.

Absolutely outstanding. I'm new to the area and went in for the first time this evening. Not only was the food utterly delicious, the portion sizes very generous and the price extremely reasonable, but as soon as I walked in the owner engaged me in a warm and friendly conversation until I left. I will never visit another chippy as long as I live here. Fantastic. 6 stars out of 5.
