Super innovative bakes from a great little bakery. Really nice team and always fresh and tasty. Try to grab a seat at the little area outside!

Searching for somewhere open to find lunch, not only was the front room open but it was amazing!! Delicious toasted sandwiches, artisan made coffee and lovely, helpful staff. Not only can you buy bags of coffee to take home, see if you can resist their sweet treats… we took pumpkin pie to be in with the season! Also worth mentioning how well covid safety was being managed. Not to be missed :) x

We stumbled across this great little place on an unplanned visit to Bungay - so glad we did! The coffees (latte and cappuccino) were the best we've had in ages, and the food (local St Helena cheese toastie with with tomato, chard & red onion, and a vegetarian savoury roll) were delicious too, finished off with a lovely pistachio, fig & honey friand. All served by lovely people! Definitely recommended.

i reviewed this gem before but now as a regular customer i can do another review.! Big mention of the Saturday night dinners to go. This last weekend the Ruby Chicken Curry was stunning. The staff should have heard the three of us making grunting and ahhhing sounds around the dinner table as we dug into the succulent and tender marinated chicken and rich spicy sauce! Came with Indian salad, raitha and biryani veggie rice. We were ecstatic. This was followed by orange spice polenta cake and rich chocolate mousse with sea salt. Heavenly. Thank you Amelia, Loudon, Grant et al for your loveliness!

What a great coffee shop! Stopped by this morning while getting lockdown provisions in Bungay. Pecan and Maple Anzac, superb! Swedish Cinnamon Bun, superb! The best bit though was the coffee. Having spent time in Seattle it left me with a very high bar for good coffee. Front Room’s Americano, Cappuccino and Vanilla Oat Latte would all easily pass muster in the Emerald City! Nice people too, highly recommended for top quality coffee, cake and buns!

Blink and you would miss this wonderful bakery/cafe. The premises are small but their choice of breads, savouries, cakes and pastries fills the window. During the Covid lockdown, service is at the door and is operating as a takeaway cafe with specialist coffees, lunch options of vegetarian savouries (frittata, quiche, pizza, Scotch eggs or “sausage” rolls) with two salads, or a vegetarian hot meal (dhal, chilli, or cassoulet). On Saturdays, a takeaway hot dinner is available. I have sampled several of their salads, hot meals, breads and cakes and they have all been delicious. The choice varies week to week. Sign up for their weekly newsletter to find out their menu in advance and look them up on Facebook to scroll through the photos of their tempting bakes. My personal favourites are the healthy salads with interesting, original ingredients and dressings. The portion size is generous and it is good value at £5.20. Their Scotch eggs are also yummy. A visit has been my weekly treat during lockdown but I shall continue to patronise this special place once restrictions are lifted again.

I'm the ultimate foodie who has eaten in some of the best restaurants around the world and I'm here to say that the savory and sweet offerings here are exquisite! The tomato and smoked cheddar loaf, the pizza with olives and the coq au vin dinner with 5 star dauphinois potatoes are just some of the delights I have tasted. On the sweet side the apple caramel cake and the fresh pear tiramisu are two examples of heaven in the mouth. Lovely young people serving great food. And if that is not enough their coffee beats Harris and James (which is saying something). Have a cup to go or have them grind a bag for your cafetiere. Go!!

This has been a wonderful find. Whether it’s the lunchtime salads, the sumptuous bread and cake baking, or the hot food options; there is something here for everyone and the quality is outstanding. It is clear that a great deal of thought and creativity goes into the weekly menu options, with an emphasis on originality, flavour and choice. The Front Room is small and open for takeaway only at the moment, but no need to order in advance; just queue by the door and choose from the window display. Highly recommend.

I am still dreaming of the sticky cardamom buns and the delicious dahl and naan. How soon can I return. Fantastic atmosphere, lovely service, a little squeezed for room but a gorgeous cafe puppy and lovely chats. Everything you could want

A lovely new cafe. Just one table, some seats, and pavement seating. Don’t let that out you off. Friendly service, divine coffee, varied home made pastries, savouries and salads. Free on street parking

popped in here today on a recommendation. had a lovely, tasty, nutritious lunch with a friend. nice friendly staff and the food was good value. My only disappointment is that it is tiny so not really comfy to sit and eat for a longer stay but wonderful for a take away. I bought three separate cakes to share wih friends and they all looked gorgeous. I had the vanilla choux and it was wonderful!

Stopped for a coffee and pastry. Lovely home cooked pastry and great coffee. Lady who runs it is very friendly. Small place, hence the name but good for a pick me up.

We consider ourselves ‘foodies’ and eat out a lot. Sadly, and all too frequently, the experience doesn’t live up to the hype. The Boarding House on the other hand was exceptional - the food was simply delicious and faultless. Friendly service, great value and an absolute joy. I would say I have high standards - others would say I’m a fussy bugger - and I’m not often moved to leaving reviews - I’m almost reluctant to share what must be the best kept secret in Halesworth - but these guys deserve all the credit they get. Can’t wait to go back.
