Fantastic funny staff, food always fresh and hot, best chips I've had in a while and not greasy at all. Cant recommend this place enough

Ordered four sausage and chips specials. Got charged £1 for curry sauce to be added on top of one of them (sauce has usually been included in 'special' deals where I have previously ordered from) . Chips were ok. The sausages appeared and tasted overcooked. My teenager would not eat it and he usually loves sausages! I feel that the staff member was unwelcoming (no greeting when we entered the shop), which impacted upon the overall atmosphere of the establishment. Quite a disappointing visit this time. Visited here a couple of years ago and everything was far superior to what it is now.

Been going to this establishment for fish and chips for many years I must say how disappointed I am now. I went there on Tuesday evening and ordered two pies a large chips and a curry sauce. We live within 1 mile and when we got back to the house they were extremely cold and very unappetising, in fact extremely unpalatable! When we arrived the owner was sitting outside and wasn’t very welcoming and the member of staff who served us had to keep checking the prices of the products. This place has certainly gone downhill since it’s been taken over, my advice avoid like the plague….. otherwise you’ll be very disappointed.

Wow, what a great Fish & Chip shop. Moved away from Kidderminster years ago, but Kiddy still has the best fish & chips ever.

I have ordered from this chip shop for a number of years with good food. The food that was delivered today was disgraceful. I order two large fish. Each being the size of a mini fish with the batter almost completely missing due to it being stuck to the paper. The chips had clearly been cooked in oil that was under temperature as they has turned to one lump of mash in the bag. The mushrooms had been cooked so much they were tiny and dried up. I called the restaurant for a refund and was told that while she was the person in charge she was not in a position to offer it. She offered to replace the order as long as I collected it myself. The whole order cost £40.38 with delivery. The people there should be ashamed of themselves of what they have cooked and offer to the public.

The guy here is so friendly. We visited close to closing time and he gave us some chips while we waited. Also gave us a few extras which we were really grateful for! The food is so tasty and homemade- even the chips! Please support this amazing business!!!

Had fish and chips earlier and was very disappointed chips was hard and hardly cooked and the fish and batter was soaking wet like they had cooked the fish from frozen for the price and the wait i expected a lot better !!

That was the 2nd time when I was here. Great shop, clean and fresh. Chips were straight from the fryer, buttered sausage was not my type. The staff works clean and well, but not smiling🙂. Will be returning again.

I popped in after work for cod and scallops, it was close to closing time but they still cooked everything from fresh, well worth the wait, absolutely delicious! Also very good value for money, I usually go to our place in Hagley Which is so expensive….won’t be going again!!

Having never been to or ordered from Friends Fish Bar, i wasn't sure on the quality of their food but after my recent order through Deliveroo I'll definitely be ordering from here again over other fish & chip shops. Their chips are thick yet non-greasy and taste great, they also held the heat very well.

Have used this chippy a few times now and have to say, the food is excellent as well as decent value. Even the way the food is wrapped is perfect, and staff very friendly.

Stunningly good chips and fish. Never tried this place before, and only ended up there as the chip shop further up the hill was closed (9 pm on a Friday????) But goodness me, what fabulous chips!! And the fish was equally good. Also tried the chicken kebab, which was quality. Recommended.

Ordered off just eat and driver never delivered food rang them to find out what was going on only to be told sort it out with just eat by the rude manager, not usually one to leave a bad review and in all honesty staff member i spoke to to begin was trying to help but the manager was rude, unhelpful and didn't seem to care will never use again

Great food... but you really shouldn't have kids running wild behind the counter.

Best fish and chips in town. Batter perfect. Had some from up the hill when they were closed and you could have knocked a nail in with the batter.

Came down for the kidderminster v reading game from reading and was absolutely delighted with the service! Chips were delicious, didn't need any sauces or dips because they had so much flavor. Chicken was juicy and the coating was lovely, and my dad got given an extra sausage. Lovely meal, and the owner made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend :)

Previously the fish bites were massive but much smaller this time, but actually an ok size, excellent Gluten Free range available every day. My main issue is this place has a recent 1/5 food hygiene Rating!!

Great servings, big chunky chips. Top service. They missed an item we paid for (piece of chicken). When I told them, they provided it plus a second piece.... plus a side portion of chips.... Plus a cold drink! Honestly very generous and bent over backwards to make up for what was genuine and minor mistake.

Service was lovely, but the food was not great, salad lettice was brown and the kabbab was dry, chewy and lacking amount for a large portion

Absolutly discusting the worst chip shop I've ever been to ordered jacket potato cheese and bean the beans were cold and the jacket potato was Rock hard the chicken Was pink and the potato fritters were also rock hard the chips were the worst I've ever tasted again under cooked was not worth the money at all will not be going here again only gave 1 star as you have to give at least 1

The fish is pretty good. Maybe excellent. Cooked fresh for you. The chips however are awful. Chips consistently come out undercooked. Nearly raw. EverytimevI have to put them in the oven for 30 minutes more. I'm not asking for triple fried Michelin star chips. Just chips that aren't raw.... Also they sometimes sneak in frozen onion rings instead of freshly fried onions when they can't be bothered to do the real things. So much potential wasted.

A great chip shop that does Gluten free battered fish. Price is average. Service was excellent Parking not brilliant but a car park is nearby worth the effort. There are seats inside and outside. Portions are a nice size

First time we've been here, after lots of recommendations we decided to try it. Lovely place, clean and tidy and the staff are great. The food is reasonably priced and definitely worth every penny 👍 best fish, chips and mushy peas I've tasted in a long time. Excellent all round and will definitely be going there again 👍

Exceptionally helpful and friendly service; the owner is delightful. Best chips I've had in a long time - fresh, piping hot, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and a good sized portion. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff and would have scored maybe a star more if I had just had fish and chips but also had a few scallops that were anaemic and inedible. Chips were proper old skool (nice!) however batter on fish had no crisp to it but the fish inside was tasty. Would definitely user again however give more thought to menu choice next time

Sweet owners always friends and very clean absolutely love it there haven’t been for while due to illness but will return soon.

Friendly service, good sized portions at great prices too. He sometimes gives us extras to try or something for my son while he's waiting. I live 30 minutes away but if ever in the area I enjoy eating here. They have in the past adjusted what I've asked for upon request with no fuss. Served in boxes when we was last there which I prefer and paper bags too. Would recommend this chippy! Looks very clean and well kept. Currently following covid rules, have outdoor wooden benches and I guess when allowed I door seating too. Parking often available opposite.

Wow what exceptional service, I have received in a very long time, restored my faith back into great customer service, it’s such a delight to be served by someone who is genuinely passionate about what they do, and while I’m waiting for my order I’m given a complimentary handful of chips that were such a delight to eat, put a smile on my face after a full on day, I definitely will be visiting again.

First time today 10/01/21. My favourite chip shop has gone out the window. My New chip shop from now on is Friends Comberton Fish Bar! Top service with a fantastic style of chips. I may need to exercise until 2022 New year with the volume of food provided. WOW! Well Done!!!!!

Great service from the guy behind the counter. Cypriot guy. Been twice in two weeks. All nice food band gave me a cone of chips while I was waiting on something to be cooked. The halloumi pieces are huge. Large menu. Far better than the place opposite the train station. Recommended

We've used Friends now several times (takeaway only) & the fish & chips have been excellent on each visit. The fish (both haddock & cod) has been cooked to order & done to perfection. The staff are always very friendly with the owner often giving you a small cone of chips whilst waiting for your food to be cooked which is a nice gesture. Friends is now our preferred Fish & Chip shop in the area.

This chip shop serves fantastic FRESH food, cooked to perfection and served by friendly and welcoming staff. I've been to most chip shops in Kidderminster and I always come back here. What makes this place special is the sprinkle of Mediterranean flare that goes into their menu and of every part of their service. Highly recommended.

Visited last night for a kebab meat and chips I was pleasantly surprised how nice the chips were even if a few were under cooked then I started on the meat again tasted delicious until 1 hour later I was chucking my guts up and couldn't get off the toilet all night I'd been fine all day until eating this today I feel better but still abit of a dodgy stomach

I had previously reviewed this place as 5 star. However since the change of ownership from the lovely Andrew and Christine, the quality of food is awful! Prices have also sky rocketed and portion size is most definitely smaller too. What an absolute shame.

Absolutely awful. Avoid like the plague!! Hadn't realised it was under new ownership. What we purchased was thrown immediately in the bin as it wasnt even cooked properly. Fish was raw and inedible. If this place lasts 3 months I'll be extremely shocked. Disgusting!! £15.80 worth of complete waste.

Fantastic fish and chips best in kiddy

I found an easy place to park behind the vets for my big van and there are some steps down that take you practically to the door. I was recommended the haddock deal. I think because they put my order in a box, despite my 20 minute drive it still arrived hot and not sweaty. Delicious and made my poorly dads night. Thank you!

Gluten free fish and chips 4, yes 4 nights a week. Amazing. Popped in on way from from shopping tonight. If your not gluten intolerant its difficult to understand how few options there are for a cheeky takeaway. The food is really good and all cooked fresh in seperate fryers. Normal batter is still available. Great service and good laugh while you wait. Perfect.

First time we have been to Birmingham area. So we didn't know much about good gluten free places to eat. So while searching the internet we came across this chip shop. So we travelled 45 minutes to get there. Was the best decision, the staff was lovely, friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The gluten free fish and chips was yummy, very filling and good price. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be going back
