Friars Wynd Bistro & Bar in Stirling

Excel·lent Hotel, small, friendly keepers, in a pedestrian street. The parking is a bit away but free during the night. Good breakfast, but no dinner, with plenty of options not far away. Double room (it was set at twins, but they modified it to please us) with a reasonable bathroom.

I loved it. The room was really cozy, the host was very attentive and nice. It's in the center. I would return without hesitation.

Right downtown on a beautiful street with lots of nice shops and restaurants. The staff is so lovely and accommodating. The room was really nice with a modern bathroom and heating. Great place to stay and have a drink or two!

Very Nice hotel in the middle of town in a beautifull old building. Nice coffee place downstairs where breakfast is served as well. Rooms are modern and complete. Good beds.

This is a lovely small boutique hotel situated in the heart of Stirling. Plenty of restaurants and bars are a stone's throw away with other attractions a short walk. There's a carpark (chargeable) to the rear or a cheaper one (Rainbow Slides Car Park) about a 5 min walk away. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a stylish décor and the ensuite was clean with contemporary fittings - just like the website pics. The wine bar below doesn't open until 2pm so if you're early leave your bags in the car and go for a wander. The staff are warm and friendly and couldn't help enough. The rooms are over a couple of floors and there's no lift but the stairs are manageable. The room rate was very competitive and the quality of room, experience and location were far higher than other hotels in the area. Highly recommend - go, you will not be disappointed.

For all the Spaniards who stay in Stirling: there are better and cheaper places. It was the second time I stayed at this establishment because the first time was very good but what was my surprise when I saw how deteriorated it is. It has been a real disappointment. First of all, we had a reservation with breakfast included and when we added a day to the reservation they canceled our breakfast. They didn't let us modify it and they weren't kind about it at all. Once there, we saw that the toilet did not work properly and that the cleaning service was a disaster: they did not make our bed properly for a single day, they moved the blankets a little and that's it; There has been a lack of toilet paper every day and they did not renew the cups or the water. They also don't vacuum, which being a carpeted room, you can imagine how disgusting it is. In short: disappointing, the only good thing they have is that the beds are comfortable, but at the price they charge it is not worth it.

4. 15pm Sun was shining, but all the coffee shops were closing up. Found a cracking venue, still open very friendly staff, lovely bar area and to top it off a great cup of coffee.

Great food for lunch and kid friendly place

I dropped in with a friend for breakfast. I asked if they had brown bread. I was informed by the waitress that they didn't. Then I ordered two eggs scrambled with a side of grilled tomatoes. My friend asked for French Toast. When the food arrived my two egg scramble was evidently only one which hadn't even been scrambled, it resembled a microwave stirred egg, with white and yolk showing.. Then the £2 side of tomatoes turned out to be half of a very small tomato barely grilled. To top it all my friends French Toast was made using Brown Bread. I wasn't even offered some which was included in the price with the scrambled eggs. Extremely awful food and no service with absurd prices.

Decent, good value small B&B in the very centre of Stirling. The rooms are basic, but clean and functional (although the bath/shower drained very very slowly). It was a little tricky getting the shower to the right temperature but the outcome was a powerful shower at the perfect temperature. The pedestrianised street outside was silent at night so it was surprisingly peaceful. There is parking behind the hotel (with access to the back of the hotel) and is safer than it looks. There is a time limit on parking here during the day it seems but it is free overnight. Breakfast is chosen from a menu the night before and is basic but does the job. Good value stay.

The accommodation was very tired, nothing like the pictures, we were also on the top floor and the lifts did not work. The carpet was ripped on the stairs. The table in the room was broken, lights covered in dust, paint chipped and no extra blankets. It was my partners 50th birthday and I informed the venue of this, the room was extremely disappointing and we could not get an evening meal as the kitchen was not open.

This hotel is in a great place and close to Stirling train station. Had a lovely breakfast and the women who served us was very friendly. We did not stay overnight.

I stopped in for some lunch between events at Bloody Scotland crime fiction festival. I was seated immediately, my order taken really quickly despite the restaurant being very busy, and was served really good food. Huge, huge thanks to Kirsty and Emily. They did a stellar job!

Sehr zentral gelegenes Hotel in Stirling. Das Zimmer war OK, allerdings mit Teppich ausgelegt. Das Badezimmer war leider doch sehr klein. Das Hotel ist doch deutlich in die Jahre gekommen aber für einen Kurzurlaub zu empfehlen

Ci è piaciuto molto da fuori, dentro è stato davvero favoloso. I due ragazzi che lo gestiscono sono di una gentilezza rara, sorridenti e gentili. Il cibo presentato in modo elegante, era anche squisito! Hanno anche opzioni per celiaci. Consiglio vivamente!

Gezellig, eten was oke. Wel in orde. Bediening v 3 meiden die meer op hun gsm bezig waren en met hun rug naar de klant staan, maar a tafel wel deden alsof ze vriendelijk waren.

Almoçamos neste belo restaurante que também é um pequeno hotel. Nossos pratos estavam muito bons. O chopp também muito bom e regional. O ambiente bacana e serviço atencioso. Vale a pena almoçar la quando visitar a cidade.

Fairly small restaurant which probably explains the quite narrow menu. Chose the chicken breast on potato gratin which was OK but with chewy fatty bacon and could have benefited from a bit more greenery. Desserts of lemon posset and sticky toffee pudding were also fine. Friendly waitress, ok decor. Prices a bit high given the above. So all nice enough, but not really special.

Food is excellent lovely venue friendly staff. I was surprised it was that good as stirling not know for good restaurants. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere too.

We are vegetarian and struggled to find anything remotely original in Stirling. Friars Wynd offered a range of vegitarian options and food and service was great. Highly recommend

First time visit for lunch. Really good choice, We had three starters which we shared. It was ample for lunch. We kept room for a lemon posset each which was delicious. Good presentation, tasty food at a reasonable price. Excellent value for money. Highly recommend.

Give it a miss if you can....Eggs Benedict ordered, confirmed it was not smoked bacon when ordering, it was. The hollandaise sauce was cold, one egg was hard and the other not cooked. They did offer to recook but we waited long enough for it first time just asked for toast. Other full English ordered was OK not hot, hot. When paying the bill they charged full price for egg Benedict although I sent it back, only agreeded to reduce cost when I challenged this....dont think it will be on list to go back. Had it been cooked well and served hot it would have been good value for money

My partner and I stubbles on this little place by accident. Been here a few times now and never been disappointed. Food and service outstanding. Limited menu due to the freshness of food but something for everyone’s palate. My new favourite place to eat.

Just been into this restaurant. Firstly the waitress was helpful and pleasant. I was told the breakfast Chef had left but they would still do me a veggie breakfast. Watery eggs , hard tomatoe, odd dried up mushrooms in some sort of sauce felt like it had been left over from something else, sausages from a packet and not very tasty haggis, last but not least a slice of the cheapest white bread you can buy . WHY??? It’s so easy to cook a good hearty , fresh breakfast, no wonder it was quiet. Just such a waste of everyone’s time to serve such rubbish.

Worst meal ever!!!! Waited 35 minutes for a prawn starter then main course of beef with bacon and cheese was vile!!!! Couldn’t cut beef it was so so tough and had no flavour. The cheek was we were charged £76 even after complaining… insult !!!!best part of meal was the merlot!!! Would not recommend disgusting!!!

Too long to wait for starter 35mins beyond a joke was prawns come on how long do they take!!! Main meal was beef with with bacon and cheese …. Location is excellent, very close to various restaurants shops and also train station. Staff very kind and smiling all the time. Cosy rooms, warm enough, all carpeted, quite comfortable. Breakfast is great, cook to order (not buffet) which is good, but takes a while sometimes, even 40 minutes. Coffee is excellent. Very good and stable WiFi connection. We had troubles explaining we need our company name on the invoice, took several tries and staff to get it done. Cleaning the rooms sometimes happened, sometimes not. Our bathroom doors wouldn't close properly, generally a bit of maintenance would help, or even a hook in the bathroom, as there weren't any. I also don't get why they fitted a sink in the bathroom sized after shoe box, can't get anything done and you'll have water everywhere.

We had a two bedroom apartment, great location very near centre. Plenty of space in apartment and beds were comfy. Kitchen wasn't very clean and bathroom was a disgrace, toilet broken with leaking water, shower over bath didn't have wall attachment and bath was cracked

I stayed at the Friars Wynd on Jan. 2. The clerk at check-in was friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was tasty. (Full Scottish). The rooms are nice and spacious. Nothing fancy but plenty of blankets and pillows. My room was quiet and warm. The location is excellent. It's just a short walk from the train station and there are plenty of restaurants and pubs nearby.

I booked a room for 9th October for my sisters birthday. Paid and confirmed 2 weeks ago Email this morning telling me that they cant accommodate my booking. No reason why. Terrible service and definitely would not recommend as even after confirmation they can cancel. Cant give less than 1 star but would give a minus rating if I could. Hotel is small boutique and our room was very small with a really comfy double bed, with plenty of coffee and tea supplied as well as water a biscuit each. Was situated above the bar area. The room is single glazed with secondary glazing, but that didn't stop the noise from the street waking us as times in the night. We waited for our breakfast for over one hour! They apologized and made a discount but we wanted to to have a walk around the centre instead were stuck sitting and waiting for our sandwiches. They were quite nice but not worth the waiting time.

My wife and I stayed here for about a week right before, and a little after, we got married in Edinburgh. The staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and helpful; the food was always delectable. Our experiences at this hotel, and Stirling in general, were so memorable that we constantly think about coming back, or even buying a flat in the area.

My second visit in a short space of time and both times I would highly recommend a stay. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back to stay again x

During lockdown, we were desperate for a pub meal, but obviously it was impossible to go out. We ordered a takeaway pub meal from Friar's Wynd and were not disappointed. Top quality food (a burger and chips for the husband, lasagna for me), which is just what we wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary in lockdown. We can't wait to visit once covid-19 is over and we can enjoy the atmosphere inside the restaurant.

Came in Saturday to have a nice brunch with my partner. We ordered quite basic things, scrambled eggs, pancakes...waited almost for an hour before finally deciding to leave.
