Easily my favourite place for lunch in Cardiff. Extremely friendly service and incredible baguettes. A top favourite is the Wednesday roast beef special - absolutely wonderful flavours.

Worth getting at least one baguette/salad every time I go into town. Always delicious and an amazing choice on the menu. The cakes and treats are absolutely devine too. The team at Fresh are soooo nice and friendly too. Top tip is to pre order, but honestly, they are worth the queue. Can't recommend enough!

After a few unsuccessful attempts we were finally able to try the baguettes - the key is to probably turn up before lunchtime as the queues can get really long. We were taken great care of, the service was fantastic and so were the baguettes to be honest! Reasonably priced as well. The lemon & pistachio sponge was divine! Looking forward to return already!

Been meaning to try this place for months on high praise from others. Finally did and utilised the pre-order option so no queueing at lunch time. Couldn't remember the menu only the salami cracking so I asked the person on the phone to pick the best one. They made me a number 6 and wow, it was absolutely delicious and such a tasty well balanced sandwich. All served with a smile and some amazing dessert options. I'll definitely be back. What a place, hats off to the team.

Don't be scared seeing the queue, it moves quickly. I was trying to find vegan options on the board visible upfront, but found out that there was a separate vegan+egg board on the side with 15 options, so lots of vegan options as well. It tasted really great and fresh. P.S. No sitting area indoors, but they give your food nicely packed for the takeaway.

Highly recommend to try a Fresh Baguette if you can. It's fresh and very filling. I had the Teriyaki chicken 😋.

Incredible! After visiting here, I will go nowhere else in Cardiff for a sandwich. The service, the taste and the choice were all awesome! I managed to avoid the tray bakes which also looked awesome.

Been buying my lunch from Fresh for over 20 years and they just get better! All fresh ingredients and yummy combinations! Customer service is the absolute best and it’s an all round great place to keep going back to. We love it!

Cardiff was a lovely city and we stayed at cardiff caravan site. Castle was a nice day out and the roman baths was interesting in Caerleon. You buy a ticket for the baths but the other ruins, museum etc.. are free to enter and plenty of parking along the streets rather than paying for the car park. Only problem we had while staying in Cardiff was trying to find a restaurant that wasn't halal 😒. We do not support this and felt we would have gone out to eat more if the restaurants were not halal. I'm sure lots of places aren't, but it was a pain having to check every time we went out. I'm sure all cities in the UK are the same now. Cardiff itself, though, was a lovely looking city.

To put how good Fresh is into context: A seagull tried to steal my sandwich on the platform at Cardiff Central, knocking my entire baguette on to what was a pretty grim platform floor. The bare baguette, that was sat on the dirty floor, with a beak-shaped wound, remained structurally intact but the 5-second rule had been well and truely surpassed. I ATE THAT SANDWICH.

This place sells the best baguette ive ever had, there was a little que outside this small shop but thats totally justifiable. Brilliant 👏

One of the best salads I’ve had in a long time. Can recommend roasted veg salad from the vegetarian salad menu.

Nice baguette and lovely staff. As stated in other reviews, the queue is very long. It's mainly because of people placing orders for multiple baguettes. The man in front of me placed an order for 9 baguettes which is ridiculous. Maybe have a cap on the amount that can be ordered per customer unless pre ordered?

In a city where fast food chains score high reviews I was apprehensive…the queue was encouraging…and it did not disappoint. The husband is usually the sandwich person but I would eat here every day. I didn’t know they could be so delicious. The crackling added to the overall perfect blend of proportions and the bread sealed the deal. FANTASTIC. And very congenial hosts who didn’t let the long line stress them out of their obvious joy to provide good service and great food.

Can't go wrong with this place , perfect if you want a nice lunch, their ingredients are fresh, service is fast, the cooks are friendly and the food is to die for.

Ahhh Fresh. This was on my list for a while. Today was the day as had some free time. After seeing this baguette shop on Wales Online it was one of my ones to target and hopefully bring some level headedness to actual reviews and the food in question. No bias. The queue was long as this was normal. I had a laugh and a joke with customers in the queue saying "is the baguette actually worth the wait" "is the fillings decent" well let me tell you. The fillings was alright i guess. Yes alright. Nothing special. Not too packed and not too little. Some overfill the baguette of quality ingredients for a slightly cheaper price and nowhere near as packed ofna queue as Fresh gets. Thats not a criticism but they have the customer base to offer abit more than they do inside their baguette and still make a large profit. Although i do understand City centre bills can be expensive for shops and have to have increased prices. The salad packed the baguette really. In other baguettes shops i have visited throughout the country the main filling is put in first on some occassions then salad on top. I went for the chicken, avocoado and bacon. Wasnt fussed on the extremely crispy streaky bacon would of preferred normal back bacon and cooked normally although you have to cater to a wide variety. Chicken was real chicken unlike some other places and the avocado was fresh out the fridge. On the whole i did like the baguette. Was it special? No. Will i queue at Fresh again for a baguette i can get somewhere else possibly cheaper with a tad more ingredients with 3 quarters less of a queue. Probobly not.

BEST BAGUETTES! Number six is my regular hit. Staff are super friendly.

This place has a cult following for a very good reason. Eveytime my partner picks up a baguette, we get one each and try half of both to stop us being so jealous of what the other person ordered! You'd be an idiot not to try this place, and an even bigger idiot not to try their specials!

It’s great. Very filling baguettes and the cakes are super tasty. The queues are long from the start, but are worked through quickly, You can PREORDER!! I would recommend this. We tend to do it when ordering a large number. Great vegan/veggie options too. Big love guys Love your hard work!

I visited this place slightly after lunch time (later than 1:30pm) but still the queue was quite long; waited like 15 minutes. However, it was so worth to try! I ordered no. 16 from the baguette special. The chicken with bacon crisps with rocket is the best ever. The portion (baguette) is so big; I thought I’m done with eating but if I see inside of the bag, then there’s still more baguette with chicken. I was so happy 🥹 I will definitely revisit again if the queue is not long… But still it is worth to come back and queue :))

People who order 20 baguettes should only be allowed to do telephone orders. Could be 10 people in the queue but really theres 30. However the food is top quality so is the price and staff/owners.

Easily the best baguettes you'll find. The queues just show how good it is. The number 6 with chicken, Salami, Salami Cracklin and Truffle mayo is my favourite, easily the best baguette I've ever had Cakes are great too so make sure you grab a slice.

I have to be honest I have been a long time customer of fresh and always spoke highly about it but I find it hard to go and visit nowadays. Baguettes are nice but it feels like value for money has slipped recently. £8 for the Christmas special is very expensive for a baguette. The queue situation is also getting very silly at this point, it is often a wasted visit as I have to walk past and that is not a great sign for a business surely? I appreciate the mindset of people still queue why should we worry but surely you should worry that loyal customers have to abandon going there numerous times due to the queue. At times I don’t feel it is because of the amount of people, it is because the man on the till is doing stuff like getting the bread out, putting the bread in etc whilst 2/3 baguettes are waiting to be packaged and 2/3 people are waiting causing a massive bottle neck! Could someone else not do this? Surely you can do better guys or have a rethink on how best to approach it as I am being put off visiting fresh these days and have been numerous times!!

Thought I would leave another review. Had the Christmas one and was incredible. Only thing I wish was that there was somewhere to sit!

Never thought it was worth waiting for until I had one… by far the best sandwiches/baguettes I have ever had. Get there before 1130 or after 2pm if you want a shorter queue.

Absolutely lovely and tasty, had the specail curry baguette, there was so many different flavours however i was stuck to the toilet all afternoon.

It was worth waiting in the line, the baguette was yummy as was the brownie we got. They have many vegetarian options some of which use quorn chicken which was a nice touch. Props to the staff who are working very hard.

Popped in for once because there wasn't a massive queue. I can see why so many people queue there now.

Queues around the block, and you can definitely see why once you've got one of these baguettes. A great selection of options for any pallette. I especially appreciate the wide range of Vegatarian options available; they're no afterthought like many other places Highly recommend anything that has the salami crackling in it, what a great addition. Swing by whenever you're in the mood for lunch and on your way through this arcade, but be prepared to queue for a couple minutes. Definitely worth the wait!

Always friendly, helpful and make you feel a part of the fresh family within 30 seconds of entering the building. Delicious freshly made baguettes with the best and biggest selection in Cardiff. Cakes are fabulous (especially lemon pistachio). Absolute legends!

These are the best sandwiches in town! Don't be put off by the long queue. It goes very fast and the sandwich is well worth the short wait. The owners are so kind and and the prices are very good for the amount of food and the quality of ingredients.

Great for a quick bite on the go, food is made really well and the staff are very friendly! Would highly recommend, however, it’s best to book before 11 in advance as it gets very busy and I can see why. Be aware they close at 2PM.

If the queue outside every Monday-Friday, doesn't confirm this as the greatest lunch spot in Cardiff.. The incredible Baguettes do, the Friday Indian special is just that. Highly recommend it. Also anything with Salami Crackling, or the beef and peppercorn sauce special is also delicious. Great service and staff are so attentive and friendly.

THE BEST!! I use this place regularly for work lunches and they're brilliant. Not only are the staff so quick, friendly & amazing, the baguettes themselves are unbelievably good. I'd never expect to be telling all my friends about a baguette but honestly, you just have to try them to understand. Amazing selection for meat-eaters, veggie and vegans. Not your bog-standard fillings either, exciting flavours, fresh and so so tasty. Thank you!

A friend took me here earlier this month. You can tell even as you're taking your first bite that this is going to be good. Even the bread is good ! The fillings were very tasty and very good - and the staff were welcoming and helpful and took great care to avoid the things I am intolerant to. It's a shame they don't have any space indoors to sit down and eat, but overall I'd say this is my go-to place for lunch in Cardiff. Don't be put off by the queue - you have to try this. I look forward to going back next time I'm in Cardiff.

Visited here today after reading the reviews. There was a long queue, and waited about 20 minutes. This was about 1:30. However, the service was great. As we had 4 kids with us, they happily obliged and cut baguettes in half for the kids. They did the same with the cakes. I had number 10 which was delicious! The beef special was also very tasty. The chocolate orange cake and lemon cake were excellent. We were very glad that we went here to eat.

We are in Cardiff today from the US, visiting for the first time. We arrived at Fresh right before the line started to grow. They were so friendly in this little shop. I had read the excellent reviews before we came, and I was prepared to wait for as long as necessary. I got the #5 chicken bacon avocado baguette and my husband got the smoked salmon cream cheese baguette. My husband decided to try the Dandelion & Burdock soda. We joked with the owners about what it might taste,since we don't have that flavor in the US. I promised to report back. My husband says that at American might think it tastes a lot like bubble gum. I took a sip and I agree. It was good! This was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life!! No matter how long the line is, stand in it! You'll be glad you did. This small sandwich shop based in the Arcades will more than likely have a queue outside, they make it easy to order ahead up to a day in advance, to walk in and pick up to skip the queues. A large selection to choose from the specials board, tasty fresh ingredients to fill either a white or brown baguette.

I've visited this place several times, usually have the number 16, shown in the picture, which is absolutely delicious! It is takaway only, and despite how many other places there are around that sell foodstuffs, there is normally a queue. This goes down quickly I'm happy to say & the team that own/work there are always friendly & efficient. It is quite simply the nicest baguette I've even eaten, every time I go. :o)

Absolutely outstanding! I ordered the 'number 19' - chicken mayo, bacon, rocket, red onion, salami crackling. "On beef day?", said the owner. 🤣 I stuck to the plan, but I'm sure that would have been phenomenal also. Everyone in the ever expanding que seemed to be regulars, and I can see why. The baguettes were warm, straight from the oven. The fillings were generous and delicious. The crispy salami - outstanding! It complimented the chicken so perfectly, adding a naughty little crunch that went down a treat. Despite the length of the lineup, the service was super fast and really friendly. The owners taking time to chat to everyone and treated every customer with respect and care. I'm embarassed to say this was my first time at Fresh. It will certainly not be my last. 10/10

We had a short queue when we went but it would have been worth the wait even if longer. Incredible baguette, both bread and fillings. The layers of flavours that they choose are perfectly balanced and we will make sure to visit here on future visits to Cardiff. We got both of the specials they had on for the day.

Undeniably the best baguette ever. Freshness and fillings overload. Every baguette is freshly made. More than 20 choices including vegan to choose from. Did have a hard time choosing which one to try. Finally set on the parma ham baguette, fresh, full of flavours and just unbeatable in terms of quality.

I tried the baguette sandwich on brown bread and every menu I tried are tasty and fresh! Their baguttes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, I don't mind eating only the bagutte itself. I don't normally reviewing the food I had but this place is worst it!

We visited here based on TripAdvisor reviews on a weekend vist to Cardiff. Our sandwich hating son announced it was the best sandwich he'd ever eaten and insisted we go back the next day to buy the same for our return journey home!

Only spent 24 hours in Cardiff and visited this amazing place twice!! Who would have thought such a quaint bijou shop could be delivering such incredible sandwiches made fresh in front of you with smiles and small talk from the staff. From the bread, to the freshest of ingredients, to the way you have worked out the best flavour combinations in every bite. They certainly aren't stingy on the fillings either! Can confirm numbers 6,7,10 and 16 are utterly divine, the Salami cracking....drool! Can see why it gets so busy and is THE place to go in the city. If it wasn't a 150+ round-mile trip from home, my family and I would be regulars, can you justify a house move based solely on a sandwich?? Lol. Apologies the pictures don't do justice but made the best car journey food.

If you're looking for a nice light bite for lunch this is the place. The indian special is amazing and it's all so FRESH. Owners are friendly and make the place feel really special.
