This restaurant had been closed at least 1 year.

This place had the best food and service we received during our entire trip to Northern Ireland! After our mains, the chef came over to our table to visit a while, selected a dessert for us, and later walked us outside to give us directions to CS Lewis Square (we obviously had no idea where we were). The proprietor was an unexpected pleasure for our time in Belfast.

Went at 1pm on a Saturday and it wasn't open Either opening times need to be updated or its now closed

My mind was blown...such a brilliant brunch...poached eggs, avocado on ciabatta....not sourdough! So much nicer..so tasty. Staff were so friendly 👏👏 support local business 💜

Food is excellent, it's worth the wait, but there is such a long wait, you should be prepared for at least half an hour between ordering and service. Music can occasionally be too loud but has been better lately, menu changes often, recently there's been fewer veggie options which is disappointing but hopefully will be back to more than 1 choice next time.

Booked here mid-November (Newtonards Road). Received confirmation email and email just before our arrival confirming our booking (again) and asking us to confirm. Travelled to Belfast with friends to find that the restaurant was closed! Called the numbers online, no answer (unsurpising to us). Very disappointed to travel the entire way there and never received word of it being closed long-term. Ps the reason why we booked online in the first place was because we tried to go here a few weeks/months before this and were turned away because it was booking only that day. Appalling service. Then we received another email asking how our experience was!??

Slowest service ever, took nearly 90 minutes for a dish to be delivered. Wait staff very apologetic and provided a free drink, but after 45 minutes there's no saving that, let alone 90

Best grub in Belfast if you haven't been get to going!

The coffee was very good and the food was excellent with interesting flavour combinations. Very reasonably priced also. The music was a little loud, so if you're looking for a quiet lunch then perhaps consider elsewhere, however I would certainly recommend otherwise and I shall be returning in the future.

You should upload the right opening times in Google. Today was very disappointing walking to you for a brunch with friends and because in Google says it's opened but it wasn't.

Hasn't been open for the last 3 weeks and there are rumours that it is closed. Best steer clear for the moment.

Quirky place for lunch. Food was amazing. The Belfast craic and banter from "Michael" made it an experience in an excellent way more than you're average lunch.

Giving this place one star is an overstatement, there should be an option for 0 stars. Don’t know why this place has good ratings to begin with. Waited so long for the food, once it came, we had two bites and just left. I had the chicken and waffles, the waffles came out fully burnt, no wonder it took them so long. My 10 year old brother had the pulled pork sandwich, poor kid thought it was tuna and took it out. Needless to say about their vegetarian option, very tasty coriander sandwich with the stems still attached that my friend choked on. Was so shook by the food that I had to lie to the waiter and say the food was ok. Honestly feed my dogs better than this. To add insult to injury they showed me the bill 😳

2 really good mains and a decent side. For this reason it scraped the 4th star. We had to sit ourselves when we entered and waited about 5 mins before a member of staff came out from behind the scenes and the music was way too loud. Could hardly hear ourselves talk and found ourselves shouting. That really did disappoint our trip as we had been looking forward to coming here for a while and our first visit was was a let down.

Really really great food and friendly staff! However, we waited 50 mins to an hour for food and the background music was crazy loud - could barely have a conversation or hear ourselves think. Also, the ground was a little dirty. Maybe not the best spot for a relaxing lunch/brunch but would be a good breakfast/dinner spot I'd say.

Not sure I'll be able to do the food justice. Genuinely fantastic food. I had a grilled cheese and it's very possibly the best grilled cheese I have had. Soft bread, which incredibly held together, and a stunning filling. I'll be dreaming of the katsu fries for a while. If you are in Belfast then you have to go.

Friendly staff and a very nice and unusual restaurant!

Seems like my experience isn't the only one unfortunately. The coffee was great however we sat and watched the chef lift food from the containers, eat it and lick his fingers. Then he opened a bag of little gem lettuce and didn't even wash it. All food was touched by his bare hands. There was also a member of staff standing around on her phone then went over to the chef and also ate out of the containers. Not a good first impression.

Food and Service Is Outstanding as is the design of the restaurant but sadly the music was painfully loud I didn't know If I was in a restaurant or a night club and had to shout with my fellow diners and to communicate with servers.

Visited today for the first time. Food was fantastic. Decent prices. Staff were friendly. Location is good.

The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is good with the added bonus of a great location. A few concerns in relation to cleanliness and food preperation. The floor was dusty in the corners. The coffee cup smelt of aftershave which ruined the coffee. The food was prepared from containers kept on the counter with no facility for keeping the food cold. The dressings were also on the counter and again not kept cold. This could spoil the food if not kept at the correct temperature. The food tasted nice but there was too many different flavours, less would have been better. It definitely isn't Michelin star standard.

Had brunch here yesterday, absolutely insane flavours. Wouldn’t definitely recommend it. Delicious

Ate their on Saturday 23 April 2022 for brunch. Firstly the fella that welcomed us and seated us was fantastic, very funny and a good laugh. Food was fantastic. Taste explosion. I loved it.

Great choice for breakfast. Nice selection and they also have a separate Vegan menu. My daughter liked the Key Lime French Toast. I liked the breakfast quesadilla.

Always make an effort to visit when in the area, the folks at Freight keep things fresh by changing up their menu regularly and have a few surprises, this time it was tempura pickles! Love the setting, the food and the staff are always friendly and up for a chat!

Limited menu which wasn't all available at 7.30. Temperature of premises very cold. Couldn't wait to get home to warm up & I'm not usually a cold person. Cocktails were good.

Amazing food & service every time here! Delicious menu with great options and a willingness to make adjustments for various dietary requirements, including veggie, gluten-free, and with a dedicated vegan menu. And also picture-perfect presentation! Upbeat, friendly atmosphere, tunes on the go, and if you're lucky, you might have a wee doggie seated nearby! The effort that goes into this place is evident and I'm pretty certain that anyone who gives it a try soon becomes a regular.

Not a huge menu but what they do is excellent. A few solid options for vegetarians. Great Icelandic beer I'd never tried before. Staff are lovely. Despite being in a container they manage to keep it warmed up. Can't wait to go back!

This cute unassuming little spot has a delicious menu where every single item is made with care and meticulousness. You can tell every ingredient chosen is quality and fresh. My mother who is very well travelled and has tasted the finest restaurants from all over the world said it was the best bacon she's ever tasted in her whole life! Crisp to perfection. Truly gourmet! The service is also great!

Absolutely fantastic place. Great food and nice staff. If it was about 5 minutes further up the Lisburn Road, there would be queues around the corner to get in - well worth a visit.

Best vegan food and staff in the country.

The food is nice however the service is quite slow, extremely loud music inside the caffè at brunch time. I was there with a groups of friends and we struggled to hear each other.

I've had a number of brunches at the CS Lewis Square restuarant and recently an evening meal for the first time. The menu is consistently very good with dishes that are full of flavour and interesting twists. Added to this the customer service and interaction is great; very friendly staff who make you feel welcome and valued.

Drove all the way here and it wasn't even open, despite the website and google maps saying it should be.

The weather was excellent so we enjoyed outdoor dining with fabulous food! Definitely recommend going and will be back for the French toast with bacon, egg and rhubarb! 😋 The staff were really helpful and friendly.

Awful atmosphere which overshadows the food - which is decent but not as great as it used to be (the small plates dinner menu isn’t value for money). The new seating is very uncomfortable and the finish looks cheap. The music is too loud, I mean way too loud for a restaurant - we had to move outside cos we were struggling to speak over the noise. First couple of times I gave the place the benefit of the doubt but nah, I’m done, lack of comfort, declining food menu & the music makes it a no go for us from now on!

Prices are very good. Food looks nice but it is very greasy and doesn't have any sharp notes. I did t like it at all. Inside it is too loud and very windy once all doors are open. I couldn't relax

Great place for a meal or coffee, beside C.S Lewis Square. I got a perfect cappuccino and sat out in the square.
