We visited Foxglove for the second time in early October and had an amazing evening. Each dish was beautifully presented and had great flavour combinations. Luke and Antonella are both lovely and so talented. Can’t wait to visit again soon!

The most impressive food, beautifully presented. It was a celebration of sustenance on every plate they brought to us. Never mind that it’s mostly foraged and all vegan! I am absolutely amazed at the talent within Luke and Anto. I can’t wait to go back to Wales and back to Foxglove.

We had been desperately searching for days around Barmouth for a restaurant that would bring the fantastic natural treasures of Wales to our plates. Many restaurants limited themselves to everyday dishes such as Caesar salad, chicken breast, burgers, pizza, steak, fries, lasagne and the like. But we didn't travel to Wales for that. We finally found what we were looking for in Foxglove: chanterelles, blackberries, seaweed, trumpet chanterelles and even moss. Everything that Snowdonia's nature offers has been processed here. And at a level that surpasses many starred restaurants. The dishes were fantastically composed flavors of sweet, sour, umami, salty, crunchy and creamy. In addition, very nice personal service and an unbeatable price/performance ratio. The restaurant also shows what vegan cuisine can do. It's not about doing without, it's about new, extraordinary flavors and products that you would do without if you turned your back on vegan cuisine.

Absolutely gorgeous meal, one of the best we have ever had. Each course tasted amazing, with unusual flavours and ingredients that we would never have a home. Clearly an exceptionally talented chef. Beautifully presented and each course explained to us by Antonella, making the whole dining experience more special. Lovely atmosphere, made all the better by the various dogs happily dotted around the restaurant! We look forward to returning in the future.

Me and my wife went a couple of years ago, the food and service were exceptional and it was a proper dining experience! we ran into the owner on a walk nearby the year after, and she remembered us and gave us a big bag of chanterelles from a patch she was foraging! We were made up! :)

The best restaurant that i have ever had the pleasure of eating in. This place charmed the pants off me ! The food and service was astonishing, from start to finish. Barmouth should feel really proud to have a destination restaurant in its midst. Proudly vegan, using seasonal and foraged foods, including lichens, girelles and barberries, this friendly little restaurant would easily rub shoulders with any in London or Copenhagen. Thank you team, you’ve made us all very happy ❤️

There are two thoughts in my mind- 1) Who in their right mind would pay £55 for Sunday lunch that does not involve roast beef and Yorkshire pudding in Barmouth 2)Where are the Michelin inspectors - or are they keeping this one quiet - worthy of a detour off the route that could justify 2 stars. Combine the two and you get a £55 tasting menu at foxgloves. The food is outstanding and I have never had such vegan food before. Presentation outstanding and some unique flavours. The down side is the restaurant fabric and ambiance. Quite scruffy and cobwebs etc that distracts to some extent. It looks like a cafe from outside. Personally I don’t like joss sticks burning when I am eating. Undoubtedly 5+ star review and really recommended. We have booked to go again. Suggest you do.

This is a lovely restaurant and we had an amazing meal. It is run by a lovely couple- the lady (I don't know names) is friendly and welcoming - the guy who does the cooking is incredibly laid back and extremely talented! They make a great team. The restaurant is small, but beautifully decorated- and there is relaxing music in the background. If you like going to place where you are served very tasty food- perhaps a little different to what you might usually eat - then GO!!!!!! We were very impressed and really enjoyed it.

We were recommended the foxglove by our B&B and are so glad we gave it a try. Amazing experience cozy family cafe vibe but with a Michelin star quality tasting menu, the ingredients are locally sourced and foraged and we ate things we’d never heard of before and they all tasted amazing everything is vegan but without “fake meat” etc, not a single dish we didn’t enjoy, would all be enjoyable for an adventurous non-vegan too. Antonella was a great host and the place is the definition of dog friendly, he even got his own chair and blanket. Will definitely return.

Just amazing! Food was super tasty and the service was brilliant. When they say dog friendly, they really mean it! Our little sausage was treated so well, even when she decided to take a wander! We had the sushi and ramen tasting menu and every dish was well thought out and nicely presented. The sake was outstanding. Can't wait to go back. We even had an extra dog at some point when chips needed some cuddles! There would have been more photos but completely forgot to take them before tucking in!

Foxglove offers an outstanding culinary experience. When planning our trip to this area of Wales we selected Barmouth based on wanting to visit this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Each of the five courses on the set menu was exquisitely prepared and presented by the fantastic chef Luke. Multiple elements, colours, textures and complementary flavours making up each of the dishes. Everything is plant-based, much of it foraged, leading to a welcome opportunity to try new, and some previously unheard of, ingredients. Add to this, a cosy, relaxed environment, outstanding bread, a lovely bottle of wine, the added bonus of a slice of Antonella’s carrot cake (an extra treat for the couple of regulars sitting next to us), and being made to feel completely welcomed as friends chatting away long after bedtime! The meal was one of the most memorable of my life, I strongly recommend you book a table if you are in the area.

We visited Foxglove because it has consistent five star ratings and we figured it MUST be good. It is. Very much so. Five flavoursome courses, fascinating foraging knowledge, and a fine selection of drinks. Craft beer, a good wine list, and even a rare sake. Are you vegan? No? It doesn't't matter. It's delicious - don't sweat it. It's £55 and it's a great experience. Have I tried Reindeer moss before? No. Have I had walnut vinegar caviar? No. Have I had morell mushroms with a japanese broth? No, but now I have and it was all very good and I'm delighted we came. If you want to leave a restaurant feeling stuffed and full to the brim, you won't get that here. However, if you want a meal that delights customers with good flavours, unusual ingredients, careful presentation and preparation, and owners who make you feel incredibly welcome, this is the place for you. In short, go to Foxglove. You won't regret it.

What a find! Although largely vegetarian, we wouldn’t normally be drawn to a vegan restaurant. However, given the reviews and the web-site showcasing the owners approach to food using locally sourced and foraged ingredients, we decided to give it a try. So glad we did - what a taste delight with every mouthful, with so many ingredients packed into each course. Antonella provides the front of house service, explaining each course in detail along with a very warm welcome plus a dose of humour……. So we’d highly recommend the Foxglove both for the outstanding food and the service……A rare treat!

We've always wanted to visit this restaurant! Being vegan it is really lovely to go to a place where the hospitality knows your needs! Plus being organic and using locally produced food. Yum. The owner Antonella checked whether we have any allergies and told us what drinks they have available - I had a delightful Turmeric Kombucha and my husband a non-alco beer (they have alcohol as well). Our Xmas lunch was quick and thoroughly delicious, followed by apple crumble and custard - not too much tho, which worked for us. We tried one of the natural organic teas - a Blue Pea Shoot loose leaf tea - amazing, refreshing and mildly liquorice/berry. Definitely going to check this out more. The atmosphere is wonderfully friendly, warming and inviting. and has a lovely mediterranean feel - an attentive host, other tables quite close so you ended up having interesting conversations and meeting other folk. It was full, complete with two sweet dogs and we even had a couple of rounds of Bingo! first time ever for both of us and immense fun, especially as I won a can of IPA!! Great fun, great food, great company. Hope to get back soon. Thank you Antonella and Luke

On a holiday to Wales, I was looking for a vegan restaurant. I saw that the Foxglove was nearby and had incredible reviews, and I knew I had to visit. I am so glad the reviews were right, as I cannot explain how amazing my experience at the Foxglove was. This unassuming small and cozy restaurant is run by the lovely owners, Antonella and Luke. They forage and create an amazing 5-course tasting menu that changes weekly. Each course came out looking beautiful and so interesting and Antonella explained what each component was. I was fascinated and so impressed by the details. I have never had anything quite like it, and in an age of faux meat, the ingredients did all the talking. Luke, the chef, was so humble in his creations. He worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and this showed by the standard of food. It was a fine dining meal but with the ambiance of eating at your friend's house. As a vegan of 5 years, this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Everything, for me, was perfect, and I am very grateful to have found this restaurant. I am just so sad that I live five hours away, but I will definitely come back again. I really wanted to give this a higher rating but sadly, our experience did not match those that have dined here. The food itself was delicious but the service was another matter. For starters, it took over 20 minutes to just get water on our table, shortly followed by a very rushed overview on what drinks were available before leaving again. We noticed that 2 people who came in after us were immediately served their drinks, and it was evidently clear that the waitress knew them as she spent more time conversing with them than checking on us. It was clear that whilst she was very friendly, her prioritisation to chat to all the other tables made us feel like an afterthought, which was made even more disappointing as we travelled over an hour to dine there. The food itself was lovely, although on several occasions our next course was arriving when the previous plates had not been cleared from the table. The chef seemed to be rather distant and spent more time stroking our dog than speaking to us, and towards the end of our meal he was taking rubbish bags out through the actual restaurant - not exactly the ambient vibe you'd expect in a restaurant. We also noticed that another table got another dessert given to them, and the favouritism at this point was just too apparent. As we travelled far to get here it took ages to get the attention of the waitress yet again as she carried on chatting to others, and when interrupting her to ask for the bill her tone became very blunt towards of us. After we left she shut the door quite hurriedly - again, not a very professional and friendly way to end an evening. Whilst the food was lovely, the experience wasn't and for the price we had to pay, I expected so much better. Favouritism of your customers is not a good look, and with the price per person I would recommend other places to get a much better experience. Update from owners review: -You might have gotten us confused with another customer - we were not offered any free bread (or anything free for that matter) -There were no customers celebrating a retirement on our visit, the restaurant is small enough to know if someone was celebrating an occasion -We actually made the best of the situation and were talking about our holidays (quite odd to suggest customers are quiet although you've likely confused this with another customer) -Hopefully the bins can be taken out when no customer are present? At nearly £50 per head, attention to detail is not just about the food. We wish you the best of luck taking feedback onboard :)

Visited Foxglove as a table of 2 at the end of May 2023 and we were both absolutely blown away by the whole experience. We are both vegetarian, and pretty knowledgable with vegan food, but the entire menu really pushed the boundaries of what we thought a completely vegan menu was capable of - this is absolutely a must for anyone who likes a unique dining experience, meat eater or not. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxed but still upholds a very high standard of personable and meticulous service and hosting that you would be accustomed to in a fine dining or Michellin Star establishment. We shared a bottle of prosecco which kept us going comfortably for all five courses. The dishes were all creatively and invitingly plated and were all genuinely delicious - every one of the five courses was a standout. This was especially impressive considering that the couple who run Foxglove had foraged a good number of the ingredients and worked them into their menu depending on their short windows of seasonality. The general approach was akin to what I would describe as "classic" fine dining cuisine: the second starter was a clever take on a panacotta themed around carrot (with pickled walnut caviar - amazing!) and the two mains took two different types of mushrooms with celery and fennel as the accompanying veg. The dessert brought in some classic Italian flavours with spruce meringue, pickled orange, caramel and a gorgeous parfait. There are around 5/6 tables which accommodated for a few 2s and some 4s during the evening and it does seem to be very popular so booking is essential. One couple who had accidentally turned up a week later than their original booking were accommodated for which was admirable to see and received, from what we could tell, the full experience. I wouldn't be surprised is Foxglove piques the attention of the national food scene very soon and becomes even more of an in-demand experience so I can only recommend that you go as soon as you can. A truly wonderful experience!

We came to Barmouth for a long weekend and was so delighted to have found Foxglove. We are not strict vegans but try and eat as clean and healthy as we can. After seeing the images online and seeing the only menu option was a £45 course taster. We had no hesitation to book. Everyone of the courses was delicious, each had a flavour and character of their own, not one of them disappointed. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, the Kombucha and Prosecco washed down each dish perfectly. I would love to give Foxglove 5 stars but sadly the housekeeping of the toilet let the whole experience down, if only they would put enough passion in to the cleanliness of the toilet as they do with their food I would even give 6 stars. Keep up the good work Floxglove but please spend a little money on your washroom, a good deep clean would go along way to give your clients a fantastic experience. Can’t wait to visit again when we’re back in Barmouth.

Fab vegan food. Lots of foraged food. We went on an open kitchen night which was eye opening in the complexity of some of the dishes but so very entertaining. It's tiny so book ahead. It's worth it!

Wow! Went with friends and we were amazed at the high end quality of the food. The chef has a background at top London restaurants and it shows. It really is excellent food and a great friendly place to visit, whether you are vegan or not. We can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

An amazing experience at The Foxglove from the moment we arrived and throughout the evening. every guest is treated like a V.I.P. ( even the 4 legged guests). We are not Vegan but that doesn't matter to enjoy the variety of flavours put together by the very talented Chef Luke. My only regret is they are not closer to my home for us to enjoy what is on offer next.

The chef in this restaurant is a real magician. He can turn vegetables into the most delicious food! You don’t even notice the lack of meat as the flavours are so good. Front of house is also wonderful. She tells you how she forages for...

If I could give 6 stars, I would without hesitation. The food was awesome even though I was dubious beforehand as some of the components were items I claim not to like, I would happily have it all again multiple times. The owners are so entertaining and made the even more enjoyable. Our dog made some new friends too.

I would come back to Barmouth purely to eat again at Foxglove! The food was incredible, so many flavours throughout each of the dishes. Finished the dinner with a lovely vegan cheese platter too. The service and atmosphere is so welcoming. Highly recommend!

Ah where to even start?! Took my boyfriend for his birthday and we have NEVER experienced anything like this place! Antonella welcomed us (and our dog) with so much warmth, she's an incredible and passionate human. The food is out of this world!! Every single dish was incredible and the service was amazing. We had to come back and we did, ( soooo worth the 3.5 he drive from nottingham- we plan to do it as much as we can) this time for Pablos (our dog) birthday we didn't think it would be possible but we had an EVEN better time. The food is just insane! The attention to detail in every single plate. We already can't wait to come back and now we want to move to Barmouth. What great people and insanely good food * thank you for existing Pros: All food is vegan and lovingly prepared, Value for money and service is amazing, Its such a unique place and their set menu is ALWAYS INCREDIBLE + the people are amazing.

Vegan restaurant, the first vegan and gluten free only restaurant I've been too. 5 course taster menus only. A good percentage of the food is foraged locally. The food is so tasty and the combinations so good. Not tasted anything like it. We will good again next time we go to Barmouth.

Probably one of the best vegan (plant based) eating experiences I’ve ever had. Absolutely amazing food and an equally amazing dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone vegan or non vegan, the dishes were an explosion of taste and left me feeling fully satisfied. You can really feel the passion of the staff, they went the extra mile to accommodate us. If you’re looking for a healthy, interesting dining experience when visiting Barmouth, do not hesitate to book a place here. Thanks again for making our trip even more memorable.

Exquisitely prepared, very inventive vegan food with foraged and wild ingredients. Fantastic welcome, and also genuinely dog-friendly. Note that the dishes are spectacular works of culinary art but are small, as such designs can often be in the world of taste sensations, in common with many other venues that are not vegan. Here, it's all vegan and demonstrates that vegan creations can be at the very top of gustatory possibility. If you want cheap'n'filling vegan food, go elsewhere; here, you will experience dishes that are works of art as much as they are food.

What a vegan gem! Nestled in beautiful Barmouth. From start to finish Antonella was incredibly attentive and informative about the wonderful menu and foraged delights on offer. The food was amazing! Textures, flavours and seasonal produce all meticulously planned and considered. And to finish a wonderful after dinner conversation with Antonella, super chef, lovely next door neighbour and dog Axel. Overall an excellent evening. 🙂🙏

A unique experience. Incredible flavour combinations that you'll not find anywhere else. Foraged ingredients and some very creative cooking mean that what is prepared is something competitive not ordinary. If you are vegan, or not, definitely visit to share Foxglove's passion for flavours. Don't be put off by the menu being set. It's the only way a small place could ever offer food of this complexity.

We ate at Foxglove this week. It was a 5 course tasting menu. All vegan with an emphasis on seasonal and locally foraged food. Amongst the stuff I’d never had before were fir cones, panna cotta infused with pine needles, saskatoon and some delicious reindeer moss. Who knew lichen tasted so good? There were some incredible deep flavours on offer - mushrooms, garlic, nettle. Plus some good old fashioned vegetables - potatoes, carrots, broccoli, celeriac. All expertly delivered. It was all so so good. I was left reflecting on how the supermarkets are now full of all manner of highly processed vegan meats and fake dairy, so us vegans can now eat as terrible a diet as everyone else. We finally achieved parity. But Veganism at its best celebrates that our Earth is abundant with all manner of plants that come in all flavours, textures & aromas. With a talented chef to bring it to life, eating a plant only diet can be as delicious and decadent as any other. It was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. In the best possible way it reminded me of being vegan in the early 1990s when we had no options in the mainstream but if you looked hard and travelled miles you could find little gems of cafes in out of the way places, serving food bursting with love and passion for our planet. If you’re ever in North Wales I’d say this one is unmissable. But book in advance. They are quite rightly very popular.

We were visiting Tywyn for a few days and had to leave our Airbnb by 10am. We decided to get breakfast before our 4 hour journey home. As we were walking our dog I saw a man that appeared to be local and asked him if he could recommend a place for breakfast, he recommended Cegin Fach. We went in and within a few minutes it was filled up with locals. We ordered & was greeted by a very friendly man and lady. We sat in the corner with our Border Collie. We ordered 2 Regular breakfasts with Americano coffees. The food was fresh and delicious. The coffee was great and the service was fast & friendly. If we lived closer this would be our regular cafe,

Had a two night stay here over the weekend of the 6th Sept and what a wonderful little place it is. Emma and Menno were the most welcoming, friendly hosts and we immediately felt like this was a home from home, our room was very cosy and complete with home made Welsh cakes that went down a treat with a cup of tea after the long drive. The breakfasts were amazing and with the added twist of a Dutch breakfast option courtesy of Menno. The tea rooms are currently closed allowing for a lovely spacious breakfast room which is decorated with photos and keepsakes from all over the world. Emma gave us pointers on the local eateries and places to go and even filled up our water bottles for us when we went out on our hike. This is a fantastic base for walking with easy access to both the Rydd Ddu, and Snowdon Ranger paths up Snowdon as well as having several lakes and close by to the Nantile Ridge. Ty Mawr is currently up for sale which is a shame because we would definitely stay again. Thank you Emma and Menno for giving us a really lovely stay.

Staying at the Celtic Royal again we decided to treat ourselves! Slightly put off by seemingly expensive menu but the portions were amazing and food cooked to a really high standard. And then, the puddings! Amazing choice and absolutely delicious! We’ll be back - I hope!
