Castle Cottage Restaurant in Gwynedd

We went to celebrate our anniversary with our 2 month old baby. Pattra made everything possible for us to get a lovely experience, with extra nice details. The food was amazing (the lamb, the veggie curry and the camembert were superb!) the atmosphere was great which made us feel both like at home and very well looked after, and overall we enjoyed it so much. We definitely recommend

The most wonderful little place to stay! Gorgeous views, amazing food and the host was so attentive and kind! They thought of everything and lots of little touches that did not go unnoticed. Just simply a lovely place to stay.

We’ve eaten here a couple of times now, and both times it’s been excellent. Most importantly, the food has been excellent but also important is the service and that has been great; the staff made us feel so welcome. I can highly recommend this great little restaurant.

After going to the beach we were stuck for something to eat, after consulting trusty TripAdvisor we decided on the Cottage Castle Inn and they absolutely deserve every star. Being a Friday night of course the place was busy, around a 45 minute wait which was actually earlier than predicted. The bar was cosy, warm and inviting the staff polite and welcoming. The food was excellent and perfectly cooked and seasoned. Perfect end to a perfect day. Do not give this place a miss well worth it.

Absolutely superb meal, five stars in every respect. We had the lamb and massaman curry and we both came away highly impressed with the food and service. Don’t hesitate, book now!!

If you are looking for a great place to stay and to eat in Harlech this is the place. The people running this Band B/restaurant are terrific and so pleasant. The room was perfect...modern, immaculate, and sooo comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were so well prepared and served efficiently. Stay at Cottage Inn and you will be very pleased.

It is very simply a totally class act. The food is clearly the work of a talented chef, using fresh excellent ingredients . This is supplemented by a friendly and professional table service. A very good range of drinks and wine both at bar and table have been selected with care and knowledge. The owners also provide immaculate hospitality and interest in your enjoyment.

This hotel is one off the best my wife have stayed inn room spotless greeted by the host on arrival ,breakfast just perfect dinner again just perfect, the aviation bar is well worth a visit, we recommend this hotel.

I stayed for 3 nights and the service was excellent. They catered to my needs wherever possible. The food from their menu was very good and well worth trying out. I found that the value was worth it compared to other sites.

The best place to stay in Harlech! Pattra made us feel very welcome, greeted us at the car and showed us to our beautiful room - no 5 Criccieth. Luxury! Heated tiled floor in the immaculate en suite too. We booked for food on Saturday night and were treated to excellent Thai food. Served quickly, attention to details in lovely surroundings. Stayed 2 nights and had cooked breakfasts. Very pampered for our stay on The Steepest Street in Wales! You can see the castle from the accommodation front door which is well worth a visit. Thank Pattra and Darryl for wonderful stay.

We stayed at the inn and had an amazing experience. Technically, the kitchen was closed but the lovely, welcoming staff knew that there were no restaurants with availability so they cooked a delicious meal for us in the restaurant. The dessert was incredible. View from the room was great - could see the castle. Close parking. Overall, cannot recommend this place enough.

We have been here for drinks and for food numerous times. Pattra is a beautiful hostess and Daryl is a excellent host. . The place is super clean, good quality food and drinks are always nice (white wine is super)... there's nothing they won't do for you!! Food is plentiful and quality too!! Thank you. Fabulous. Great host and clinically clean. One of the best places I’ve stayed in in 50 years. Great location with a wonderful beach five minutes minutes drive away. Breakfast was perfectly cooked and honestly nothing was too much trouble for the hostess.

We have been visting castle cottage for 15 years and never been disappointed this time no exception. The scallops for starter was excellent and cooked with prefection. Lobster for main was so good, did not want it to end. Would of tried a pubbing but so full did not need one. Wines we selected with the help of Jackie one of the owners was excellent. The service we had from Jackie and the legend Chef Glen, will certainly get us back again and again.

We came for a birthday meal and were not disappointed. The rack of lamb with shepherds pie was the best lamb we had ever tasted. Spent an excellent few days at the Castle Cottage, the food outshines anything else in N Wales and we've tried many good restaurants. We'll keep making the journey to sample such great food. Steve & Lindsay

Had read amazing reviews but it was really only pub standard food and overpriced for that. The 'hostess' was quite abrupt. It wasn't terrible but not up to expectation.

Chef Glyn Roberts deserves his praise. We had a lovely dinner, consisting of a smooth flavoursome lobster bisque (and that takes ages to do!) and generous portions of pork (husband) and venison (me). None left tho’! The pork was tender and tasty and came with crackling that fractured at the tap of a knife; 15 minutes after being served! My venison was pink as ordered, tender and delicious: it came with an intensively flavoured venison sausage. And next time I do mash I will chop sage into it, in homage.Puddings included home made (chef made) ice creams and sorbets. Particular praise for lemon curd ice cream and lemon vodka sorbet; highly commended chocolate chip ice cream (not too sweet) in which you could really taste black chocolate.Husband also raved about his “savoury” a Welsh rarebit with anchovies. Properly soufflé-ied.All the “befores” and “afters”were of high quality too. Good value; we drank a Gavi from the bin end list which was smooth and fresh and served at exactly the right temperature. It cost£20 and was quite the best £20 restaurant wine we have had. Ever.Nice informal but comfortable dining room in 400 yr old cottage; and I understand you can stay there too.Enjoy!

We’ve been visiting Castle Cottage for around fifteen years now for overnight and weekend stays, and for the award winning restaurant. Most recently we had dinner in the restaurant at the end of a holiday further along the coast near Porthmadog. In our view there isn’t really anywhere like Castle Cottage in the area. The evening started with drinks and canapés in the bar. Loved the local Welsh gin. Spoilt for choice with local produce on the menu from the sea (crab, lobster) and land (lamb, steak), and the deserts made by Glyn. Plenty of decent wine at good prices.Our only complaint is that time flies by too quickly at Castle Cottage. A few hours later and it was time to go ....

The food is of a very high standard and beautifully cooked and presented. The service was excellent and I had the best lobster thermidor that I've ever eaten.

A upmarket restaurant with great food - we had lamb chops and monkfish/prawn skewers for our mains. Starter were seafood soup, scallops and mushrooms. Puddings were delicious. Good wine list - not too pricey. Definitely the place to eat if you want something special in Harlech

We have visited Castle Cottage many, many times over the past 40+ years as I had family living In the area. This time it was a special occasion to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday and we had travelled from Yorkshire as a special treat. The meal was undeniably excellent, as was the service. However, and I hate to rain on anyone's parade, we received a very lacklustre welcome and any attempts at conversation were met with the response "we have been here for 30 years". A pity that one of our favourite restaurants this time let us down - we expected so much more, especially in view of the prices charged
