Fox Inn Tamworth in Tamworth

Called in here on very short notice and was happily seated for food which was absolutely amazing Best we'd eaten in a very long time. We will definitely be back. Definitely recommend.

Friendly staff, good quality food and service.

First time back here after a few years, and I was glad I returned. Nice dining area and lovely ambiance. Waiting staff were friendly and chatty and made you feel welcome. I had Hunters chicken and it was delicious, big breast of chicken, bacon well cooked and the meal was nice and hot. I can highly recommend the apple and cinnamon crumble as a desert, absolutely delicious, with the perfect amount of apple and cinnamon combination. The custard was piping hot, as was the crumble itself, as my dining guest said.. " that desert was to die for ". And I had to agree. Will definitely be going back soon.

This was the first time at the fox inn as we have just moved to the area. We were so impressed with the fantastic service. The food was amazing so much so I booked again for this weekend.

We went about 550 for a drink four of us and a baby in a pram there was a sign saying they were serving drinks to 600 so we walked in for a drink only to be told that they were not serving even though a couple had walked in a minute earlier who were served. They also said that they had announced last orders and refused to serve us. I wished the publican an happy new year and left he then followed us out and started becoming abusive and swearing at us for no reason. As one of the party identified themselves as a police officer he became even more aggressive and this is from someone who works in the service industry. He then get his regulars out to obviously try and frighten us off. Obviously we will not be going back and we be telling our friends not to visit such an unfriendly establishment.

Really good little pub. Dog friendly although I didn't have mine with me at the time.

I haven't had a meal here for a few years, we had the pie, mash and vegetables, absolutely beautiful, everything cooked from fresh, staff were very polite, place was clean

Went in for lunch today!!! Never again, £9.00 for a fish finger sandwich that contained 2 fish fingers on really small and dry bread, why does everyone serve skin on fries at least offer a choice!! As someone else said staff couldn’t seem to be bothered, does no one know how to smile these days , no wonder places are closing if this is the standard!!!

I come here every week for Sunday dinner. The staff and the atmosphere are very welcoming, Nothing is too much trouble. There is plenty of parking and disabled friendly. I recommend this place for singles, couples, and families.

Good choice of menu, food was tasty & hot.

Dropped by here mid week. Staff were friendly and found us a table despite not having a reservation. Menu is your typical pub food, reasonably priced. Food wait time was long at 50mins, if we had been told that on arrival we would have probably gone elsewhere. Food quality was ok but nothing special. Would return for drinks, but probably skip the food.

Excellent service received from all staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Had the Sunday roast and would recommend to anybody! Beef was cooked perfectly, yorkie was massive and everything had flavour!

Food has definitely gone down hill. Used to be good. Even told the waitress didn’t seem bothered. It’s a shame!

My husband and I had hunters chicken we were really looking forward to this but totally different from last time we visited just few weeks ago very dry came in a dish last time no onion rings no tomato if your trying to cut costs doing things like this won’t work because you’ll have no customers serving food up like this

No food was available when we went (1pm on a Thursday) as they apparently had no staff. The beers we had were very mediocre. We had one drink and left. Very disappointing.

Free parking, good location for Pub grub food. Children’s meal was nice, good portion size for the main meal. The desserts were very sweet and a bit overwhelming.

Only negative was the service to the table went off after 9pm. Very good food.

Visited yesterday for Sunday dinner. Service was so slow we started to wonder if we were supposed to order at the bar. This was the worst Sunday dinner I have ever had. Roast potatoes were dry. Roast parsnips were not roasted, seemed part-boiled only. Meat was chewy and cold. Would not recommend. If you are looking for Sunday dinner in the area I would recommend going to The Tame Otter just down the road. Wouldn't waste money visiting this establishment. Probably ok for pub grub but definitely not a Sunday dinner.

Never again....waited (as 'instructed') at the front door to be seated....After several minutes of waiting and no one arriving, we entered the pub/restaurant to look for a vacant table. We were immediately approached and told to go back and wait by the door and the manager would come to us....After waiting for several more minutes and no manager arriving, we promptly left and went to another local pub/restaurant (we do have several local choices) where we were immediately approached... This was not on a busy Friday night, but around 4pm on Friday 23rd. This is not the first time that the service here has been a tad rude...but it will certainly be the last

We were two couples out for a meal we ordered 1 fish&chips,1 lamb shank & 2 lasagne, the lasagne was like a soup in a bowl with floating paste !! we sent the lasagne back and ordered 2 different meals.The waitress was very understanding and very polite.

Excellent meal, value for money. Charming our waitress was an excellent hostess.

Scampi and chips were delicious and my dog quickly scoffed his chicken sausages from the dog menu. Dogs are welcomed warmly in the bar but not the restaurant. One of the grumpy locals informed me as I entered the pub as a visiting lone female. The beers are well kept and tasty plus a bonus on a Monday visit were they’re discounted! Highly recommended on the edge of Tamworth towards Lichfield. 😊🍻

Came for lunch on Thursday and the food was 1st class,the staff were very efficient and friendly.

Usual pub grub. My visit was spoilt by flies buzzing round our table... asked if lighting the candles on the table would help but didn't happen. Great service.

Mostly designed for eating area not a large area to just sit and relax to have a drink. Vintage Inns seem to have more offers on.

We had another great night on Tuesday. Service was excellent and particularly Sarah who was attentive throughout

Whilst ideally located for our family meet-up and providing good facilities in the bar, restaurant and garden, sadly the service could have been better with appropriate staff training. We were shown to a table for Sunday lunch but not advised how we should go about ordering and after 20 minutes of nothing happening had to summon a member of staff to pace an order for drinks / food. The food was distinctly average, with soggy, overdone roast potatoes which we had to request replacements for. Another delay in being able to order and receive desserts followed. All this ate into the 1.5 hours allocated for use of our table. At the end of this we wre 'reprimanded' by a member of staff who wanted our table for the next booking. However, unbeknown to her, we were still sat waiting for our bill which had been requested from another member of staff and still hadn't arrived. Management needs to step up on this. Staff need much better training and direction in regard to what is expected of them. Staff are polite and probably think they are doing their best, but they lack the direction and expectation of management.

I came to pick up a delivery order. If your customers will ever have the chance to see your kitchen, you'll never ever receive a food order again!

The food was really not very good. Nothing like described, tasted bad and quite expensive. I would not recommend, nor return. Having said that the staff were nice, the place was clean and the drinks were wet.

Decent pub, nicely maintained, good beer garden and friendly staff, I've not tried any of the food so can't comment on that. But if you're in the area and want a decent place to have a drink or 2, I can recommend it.

I came today and was served by Lucy who gave both my friend and I excellent service. I unfortunately wasn’t very happy with my steak due to asking for it well done and it coming with blood still but Lucy took care of it all and sorted the bill for me. I couldn’t have asked for any better service! Thank you Lucy!!

Nice pub with plenty of parking, food is hot & miss, the steak was ok but fried chicken very bland. Lady staff pleasant enough but the chap not.

We were a group of 6 who met up from different areas for lunch in a central location. The Fox was chosen based on reviews. We chose well! We were warmly welcomed served well with a smile, and the food was excellent and nicely priced. Overall a really good experience and Sarah our Waitress couldn't have been more pleasant. Everyone left happy and well fed.

My Mum loved her Mothers Day celebration and felt very special. Was rather sad that the Bread and Butter Pudding has been taken off the menu though, as it's my parents favourite. First trip to a pub for our new puppy Lola and she loved all the cuddles and treats given. Even got brought her own blanket, toy and bowl of water. Big thank you to all the team at The Fox Inn

Friendly atmosphere and very welcoming. The puppy we brought along was even given a blanket to lie on, a chew toy, a bowl of water, and a few treats. Shame that the bread & butter pudding is no longer on the menu - it was amazing.

Had a fab time on Sunday. Staff were friendly and meals (there were 6 of us) were lovely. Absolutely loved the Rhubarb and Custard Sundae afterwards (complete with a piece of candy floss on the top 👍)

Humming on a Tuesday lunchtime. Good food, friendly staff. Nice setup for a cinema trip later. "Argylle" btw.

We had a great lunch here Superb food and the staff were very friendly and helpful Real Ale too I would recommend it.

We visited the Fox Inn over the Christmas period and had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and great value - especially the steak sandwich, which was amazing and well presented. Our server, Sharon, was great too. We will be visiting again, and would recommend to all.

Had a lovely birthday day (Boxing Day) meal. Food was great, fab starters and mains but the best was a lovely chocolate and clementine torte with a gorgeous sorbet. One of the best desserts I've ever had. Staff were friendly and very professional. Would highly recommend. Prices very fair.

Edit: So first time visiting after 4 years when someone nearly died! I must say this place has changed a lot! The food was incredible, drinks didn't have flies in it and the atmosphere was great! Sharon G was very friendly and helpful! I'll return and see if it lives up to this review but overall great experience this time! Used to love this place, I went couple days ago and basically somebody nearly died and staff didn't seem to want to help, im a first aider and was told to move and leave for the staff to deal with, then to top it off I had a fly in my drink and asked for a new one that took 10minutes to get. They also said I could have it on the house but made me pay for it?

The staff were friendly, and a group of us all enjoyed our meal in the garden at the rear of the pub. There is a large covered seating area outside at the back. There is also more seating and tables in the large pleasant garden, and more outdoor seating at the front of the pub. A lovely location for a summer lunch or drinks.

Having had an excellent meal 2 weeks ago, we decided to return for another meal. It was the same party of 5 adults and a baby. 1st time absolutely no problems however on the 2nd visit we told we could not bring the pram into the restaurant. We said we would use the car seat but again that was refused so we decided to use the pappous so that we could move the baby away from the table whilst food was being served, but again this was not acceptable so we had to leave. It was just as busy on both occasions so l fail to see the problem. Very disappointed, and will not return.

Three of us had lunch at The Fox on Wednesday 1st November 2023 and it was excellent. The cleanliness, food and atmosphere was lovely but what really made our experience special was our server- the fantastic Margaret. Margaret assisted us with dietary requirements that were not straightforward or on the menu, and she ensured that we were accommodated with excellent food that was swiftly delivered. We cannot fault our lunchtime visit in any way especially in terms of value for money, but Margaret provided the special touches that will keep us coming back

Staff were really accommodating as there was 7 of us & 2 dogs. They were all very friendly & the food was delicious.

Food was amazing! The Hunter's Chicken was honestly the best one i've ever had! Compliments to the chefs. My partner had a really nice burger & even my little lad ate most of his food and dessert (main and dessert £5.50 really good kids deal) Waitress who served us 12/10/23 can't remember her name (brown hair in a bobble) was lovely! Poor woman looked like she was serving on her own but she was still so polite to everyone dining. She's a credit to the company! Never been here before & just popped in spontaniously after a day's shopping in town but we will deffinatley be coming here again! An overall wonderful meal, thank you to all!
