Fortunes Place Chinese Takeaway in North Hertfordshire

I have just returned home and consumed the food that was delivered. I regret to inform you that the meal was not satisfactory. The chicken curry and chicken balls were not cooked properly. In my opinion, this was the worst Chinese takeout I have ever had. However, I must commend the establishment for their understanding when I called to explain the situation. They promptly issued a refund. Despite the refund, I will not be returning to this establishment.

The fish has just enough batter and isn't too greasy. The portion sizes for the chips are huge and they are very good. The sausages are very well cooked.

Food was absolutely delicious. First time using this Chinese takeaway I said to my son when a shops packed its a good sign.

Not sure where the positive reviews are coming from? For me I really didn't enjoy the food, the fish was incredibly oily and hard to eat, the chips were soggy, undercooked and generally terrible. Cannot believe it cost me £10 for this mess. Wait time was 20 minutes with not many people around too. Very disappointing.

Worst king prawn fried rice I have tasted Asda is better than this

Fortunes palace has always been a favourite of ours, however have noticed last couple of months food is in smaller portions. Obviously prices have gone up, however the cartons are not full, and pieces of chicken in chow main are less and tiny . Also we have never had a problem with the food not being hot but last two times food has needed reheating. Wondering if they have a new chef considering trying an alternative which is a shame.

Great take away, for fish and chips as well as Chinese. Fish has the skin removed for those that find this important and the batter is crispy. I keep going back even though I have to drive there. Service is quick and friendly.

We had a Chinese meal from here mostly ok, not very flavoursome however the prawn balls were horrendous - will not be ordering Chinese from here again totally put off. Fish and chips have always been great though 😁

We always order from here. Definitely the best Chinese food / fish and chip shop in Stevenage. So yummy! My partner loves the BBQ ribs and sweet and sour chicken balls, quarter crispy duck. The duck spring rolls are really lovely too. Friendly staff and quick service. Everything we have ordered is great!

This is by far the Best Chinese Takeaway I have visited anywhere over the last 49 years. My favourite has to be the Spicey mixed meat (10) with some chicken rice. The Chippy is a great fall back if everybody isn't a fan! Always a friendly face and a good reception.

I have lived in Stevenage for 7 years and have worked my way around a good selection of the Chinese take aways in thos time and can say without reservation this was the best I have had and now my firm favourite. It is collection only which is a pain occasionally but worth the 5 min drive for the quality of service and food.

We have been using the take away for 20 year's but today it was not up to standard. The chicken balls were unedable. Phoned but no response Dave

Amazing Food! Not greasy but nor was it dry, a Perfect balance. Meat was very tender and not chewy like other places. Amongst the above the flavour is very authentic and what you would expect from a Chinese resteraunt. A very pleasant meal indeed.

Found the legs and body of a daddy long legs all separated in my chips that I could visibly see it had been in the fryer. Called up to let them know as I have used them for a long time and could barely get an apology. Very poor! Will not be returning. I understand this can happen but a sincere apology would have been nice.

Honestly foul. It didn't smell right as soon as I got in the car. It tasted awfull,the worst chinese I have ever had. I am hoping I will not get gut rot after that. Waste of money.

I can only give a rating for the very one time we used them and I must say that disappointed is an understatement... none of us finished their dish. It simply was not good. Perhaps the regular chef was off duty? We never went back to check though..

Prices and food very good, but the service is awful. 25 minutes wait for one Chinese meal and two fish and chips. It appears if you order several Chinese meals you get served quicker than just ordering one.3 people ordered food after me and were served before me.

The worse food I've ever had in a long time. I ordered over £20 of meal tonight order number 55. The food is a total disappointment. Beef noodles was so salty I could used the salt to cook 2 different meals. The king prawn fried rice was very oilly both meals went in the bin. The only thing I enjoyed was the duck spring rolls and the over priced ribs. I'm never returning please avoid them too.

Food is lovely and hot and tastes delicious. Only downside is the portion sizes, they vary quite a bit between visits, today seemed very short in the chip department

The food was amazing. Better than we remember from the 'before time'. Ribs were marvelous, sweet and sour chicken balls huge and lovely, salt and pepper chips spot on, prawns juicy and plentiful. Be patient with the place, as they are trying to figure out the way to handle things but hot and yummy food is worth the wait.

Over priced ,3 people buffet all you can eat letchworth 6.00 cheaper then take away from here.there page is misleading as its still advertise 2017 prices because they cant be arsed or spend the money go update it. soon want to pull your pants down when you get there and want to know why your bill is 7.00 then there advertised price.

Excellent options!!! Very convenient place for taste a such good food! The staff are super! Quick and efficient!Good manners to treat the customers. The place is clean,located in Great Ashby surrounded by another shops. Easy parking also nice if you live around to come walking. The prices are good also take way. Fish fresh and well prepared. The opening times works exactly how they do informed by the window.

Always good, hot food served with a smile, sometimes have to wait due to how busy they are but definately worth it.

Highly recommend Fortune Place Just moved to Stevenage, looking for new places to eat is hard when you are a foodie. After trying it I have become addicted as it has to be the nicest chip shop and Chinese takeaway I have ever had. Not only is the food amazing and a very good price, the service is absolutely amazing! The staff in there are so friendly, so kind, very well-majored and always smiling. 10/10
