Forres Tandoori in Moray

After a long drive, we were in search of some hot food and decided on the Tandoori. We were the only ones in. Food was delivered fairly quickly. We opted for a Lamb tandoori tikka and Paneer Bombay Special with pilau and mushroom rice. Food was piping hot and tasted nice. The chap who served us, I think was keen to get off home so we ate our food as quick as we could.

Lovely food and great staff, throughly enjoyed our visit, will eat out there again.

On our Scottish road trip we stayed in Forres. Ordered a take out for 3 must admit the portion sizes were twice the size of our local Indian restaurant, it was very nice and enjoyed it after a full days driving. Would definitely use again if I did not live 540 miles away. Good quality food and a very respectful price ( £20 less expensive than where we live ) 👍👍

First time trying this restaurant but sadly it will be the last! Arrived at 6.30pm on a Saturday night to be the only ones. Service is definitely not with a smile! Ordered the mixed pakora, what a total let down, the batter was way too thick and so greasy and what was inside them, who knows, we sent them back and didn't reorder a starter! The mains were passable. All in all a pretty poor effort!

We had our Forres Squash team pre Christmas Buffet meal here on Thursday 22nd Dec 23. Food was spot 👌, decent starters, Peshwari Nan was the business, main dishes were cracking too. Even though the Cobra was a bit pricey, who cares it was Christmas 🎄 😀

Family meal on a Tuesday late July 2023. Food was good and reasonable cost £57 for 3 mains and drinks. Lacks atmosphere but worth a visit.

Friendly guys nothing is to much trouble great atmosphere,we eat out as a group probably about 18 people at a time and they have been fantastic can’t fault them.Well done.

We visited for the first time last night. My partner had Mamas Special and I had Butter Chicken. Both dishes were very tasty and the portions sizes were perfect. Good value for money, we each had curry, rice, nan and a drink coming in a total of £42 for the two of us.

I have been a customer since opening and have always found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The service is excellent and the delivery guy is polite and friendly. I have always found the food to be delicious. Ordered a take away this evening and I don't know if there is a new chef or if the recipes have been tweeked, but the pakora was different and even more tasty. I like very spicy curries so I get naga morich and sometimes I would like it spicier. This evening it was perfect. Just the right heat and delicious. My favourite takeaway.

Only had a takeaway but the food was the best I've ever had. I ordered a number of starters and two main meals. The food was excellent and the price was very honest. I did not have to wait very long for my order. I highly recommend anyone who likes Tandoori to try this restaurant.

Absolutely auful delivery stone could disgusting food that wasn’t even eatable my wife is diabetic and had taken insulin for the meal that could not even be eaten stone cold and things in it phoned them about it and they didn’t care as they already had my money as I paid over the phone

Great food. I've been there three times and we've all been impressed every time with the curries and tandoori dishes. The naan can be a bit dry, but it's still nice. A couple more choices for poppadom dips would be good too - e.g. lime pickle & chili sauce. The only issue with the curries is that they could be hotter. I find the medium ones have no discernible heat, and the hot ones to be quite mild. Even the vindaloo was only a little hot - although it was very tasty. I'm sure you could request them to make the dish hotter, though. The serving sizes are very generous; most people would struggle to manage a starter and a main course, which is kind of a shame. It discourages you from having a starter. Personally, I'd prefer smaller portions at a slightly lower price - not that it's expensive - in fact the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant itself was very nicely laid out and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The service was flawless, the staff efficient and polite. I hope to go back soon and I'd certainly recommend this restaurant.

I'm glad we chose this restaurant over the other local option as the food here was excellent. There's a good selection of vegetarian options on the menu too. Prices were good and the order was ready exactly when we specified. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We're visiting family in Kinloss and also having a reunion with some relatives we haven't seen in a while. We decided on an Indian meal, as we all enjoy a good curry! Having previously eaten in the Forres Tandoori and really enjoyed it, we decided to eat there again. We weren't disappointed. We had a table for ten of us which let us do a lot of catching up! The food was just brilliant, everyone enjoyed their food choices. All in all, we had a really nice evening out in a great restaurant. What's not to like? I would simply say that if you fancy a really good Indian meal, you must try the Forres Tandoori!

Delicious tasty food, great service. Very reasonably priced. We are visiting the area and booked a table for the evening. We were made very welcome and ordered amazing freshly cooked food. We had a bottle of the house red, which complemented the food perfectly. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely go there again.

Service and food were excellent. One of the best Indian meals we have had since we left Singapore. I had never had a Sholey curry before but it had a lot of flavour and just the right amount of bite. Spicy but not too hot. My wife had the Passanda curry which was very creamer and sweet but not too sweet. We also had the Royal Mix for a starter which was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. We will definitely go back.

Excellent food. Service was good. Been there on a few weekends, the one thing annoyed me is every alternate Sunday they break their card machine to get cash payments. I understand cash is needed by us all in this difficult time but the way do it is just wrong. They made customers run out in pouring rain to get cash. My 5 year old wouldn’t let me go alone so had to run out with him and get totally soaked. In the end the guy could just say..”yes sir, no sir and sorry sir”…The head waiter (in a waist coat and a tie) is totally useless. Talk to the big guy if you want to make any sense of any conversation. Good chefs but cash hungry people, very inconsiderate.

Food is wonderful, and the staff are very friendly and attentive. A very spacious restaurant also, and they are easily capable of accommodating a large number of diners / guests. Highly recommended!

Actually the most authentic tandoori flavour I've tasted in many years. Genuine tandoori chicken but for me if they get the sheek kebab right then they now what there doing. Originally from Yorkshire so I know a good tandoori but finally I've found a good one in Scotland. Well done and welcome to Forrest. Service was fast, delivered and sorry I had no money to tip lol, I'll catch up big guy. 😂

Service very poor. 15 mins between 1st and last starter being delivered. Breads arrived 10mins after the main meal. Quality of the food isn't good enough to excuse the poor service.

I'm giving it a 2. The food was good standard but the shocking service pulls it right down. 40 minutes before our order was placed. Asking multiple times for a drink. Order finally placed and it was exactly 42 minutes until our food was served. Luckily the food was outstanding. All the other customers were saying the same. Really need to sharpen it up guys.

Can't fault our meals tonight. My Passanda was probably the tastiest I've had in a while- mild enough for me but just enough spice to avoid being bland. It was delicious! Lots of tender meat in the meat dishes and a lovely variety of veg in the vegetarian options. Don't be put off by the previous negative review. We all had delicious meals. :)

After being very excited about trying our new Indian takeaway, the excitement soon evaporated when our order arrived. We were excited after seeing the menu describe the masala as creamy when in fact the sauce was crimson red, tomatoey taste and grainy. We were expecting a creamy, tasty pink sauce encasing the tikka chicken. The pakora was more like a Battered chicken ball that you can get at the Chinese takeaway, we are still looking for the garlic that was meant to be on the naan. On top of this the naan bread were half the size of any regular indian takeaway naan bread we have ever had before. Even the free popadom was overcooked. £30 of a disappointment im afraid which is a shame as we could do with a decent Indian takeaway in the area. We will just have to have a proper one when visiting Edinburgh or go to the Top Tain Curry club
