FIRST and LAST TIME... We ordered for delivery vegetarian thalis from Forest of India. Quantity was great but that's where the buck stopped. My son absolutely loves Indian food and Naans but he declined to eat the SWEET NAANS where the sugar was still overpowering despite dipping naans in curries. Mushroom and other curries had minimal taste in them and mushrooms were runny & bland. I understand that taste and spice levels are toned down a bit to cater wider demographics but this was absolutely unacceptable. Everything was either SWEET or BLAND... We will avoid getting food from Forest of India.

Straigh i vomited after this. I will never eat from this disgusting place where is people which can’t cook normal food.

Stying at a local hotel, we called ahead and booked a table post C-19. Super service on the phone, food great and complimentary drinks were the icing to the cake. Thank you so much for your warmth and hospitality. Our food was gorgeous. We may not return but that is only because we were working in the area and may not return.

Ordered a take away with a family group, never ordered from here before so worth a try, I ordered a prawn buhna, pilau rice, peshwari naan and saag ponir. Well the prawn dish was something to be questioned, it was a bit too fishy and was to me tasteless in fact I thought the whole thing was tasteless. Someone else ordered a lamb dupiaza and that was swimming in a layer of oil. I was disappointed and I won’t order from here again, there are lots of other Indian restaurants to order from, they really need to up their game.

Absolutely shocking! I’d never recommend or eat here again. The owners people skills and the way he treats his staff unacceptable. My order was wrong, Balti was literally fluorescent red which consisted of lamb that was over cooked, chewy and red lots of peppers. The container was half full with at least an inch on oil sitting on the top. It was awful. Then their was a madras that’s was just as bad! Literally had stomach pains since! I called and said I wasn’t happy with any of my £35 order and was told not to go there again? WOW

Popped in here for dinner whilst staying locally for a night. At first we felt our welcome was a bit ‘cold’ as the waiter didn’t seem too friendly. There was just two other tables occupied but it was a Sunday evening. The drinks menu showed Prosecco in the small 200ml bottles which I ordered. However I was told they don’t do Prosecco other than in a big bottle! The restaurant does look tired and could probably do with a redecoration. The food was, however, very good and by then the waiters were more chatty. By the time we left (after a complimentary Baileys) we felt like old friends, especially after a nice chat with the owner. In short, the food is good and the staff are actually nice. Yes, we would go again.

Thank you Mr Choudrey and team for an excellent banquet for my cousin’s 50th birthday. The takeaway service you provided was incredible, with our favourite dish being the lamb laziz. The guy that was serving us was very funny and kept us entertained throughout the whole night. For starter I had Chicken Tikka, which was AMAZING! The food is so fresh it melts in your mouth! We visited Forest Of India yesterday whilst walking home, totally impromptu visit. Had a lovely meal, service was fab, staff couldn’t do enough for you. Owner very friendly. Have visited this restaurant many times in the past, and never had a bad experience. If I had to say anything negative it would be that it’s a little old fashioned and probably needs a bit of a facelift but the food is good and reasonably priced so does it really matter?

Ordered online using Hubeat and received a conformation email without an estimated time. After an hour and 10 minutes I phoned to check on the progress of my delivery. A female answered and passed me on the manager when queried about the time the order was received. The gentleman who I assume was the acting manager and said the manager was on holiday, but continued to say the manager would phone me back, then the phone call ended when asking when the delivery would be. Little confused at this point. I phone again and was on 'hold' for 4 minutes till the line "died" again. Finally when the takeaway arrived, the curry was watery and the naan tasted of chemicals.

We are really lucky in Abbots Langley to be able to choose among several Indian-style restaurants and takeaways: three excellent restaurants and one takeout place in the high street alone. Plus there are miscellaneous other takeouts.Anyway, we have eaten or had takeouts/deliveries from all of the High Street's establishments, and still will do, but The Forest is the one we now prefer both for eating in and delivered meals. I'm not a fan of highly spiced, hot food; I really like the Korma flavour and am vegetarian. The Forest adapts its vegetable-korma side dish into a fabulous main meal full of vegetables with NO potatoes, exactly as I ask. Add on a Peshwari rice order and I'm a happy eater! My other half likes eating here too!

What a little find. In the sleepy village of Abbots Langley is an Indian restaurant worth going out of your way for. Firstly I have to mention that on Sunday-Wednesday they offer a banquet night for £10.95. For this you can order a starter a main a side and rice or nan and tea or coffee. The place is spotlessly clean! If you go you must have the prawn purée starter! It is just fabulous. The purée is really light. Another must is the garlic nan bread. Just beautiful. My lamb dhansak was superb too, I was so full but just couldn't bare to leave it, it was so good!! Thank you to all and we will most definitely see you again very soon!!

Went here with a party of 10 some weeks back to celebrate a birthday and I must say the whole experience was terrible. The food quality was very poor and expensive. Several members of the party not feeling too good next morning. The service however was not bad apart from, what I believe was the manager, shouting at his over worked staff. A throwback to the early Indian restaurants of the seventies. One tip if you do go here stick to the draught beer, the bottles of beer were not cold enough and added to the unpleasant meal. The redeeming feature (if you can call it that) was the fact that on a Saturday night it seems to be the only Indian restaurant in the area that you don’t have to book. I now realise why!!

We ( wife and kids) went on a Friday night, mainly because they had put a flyer through the letter box that said it had won several awards. When we got there, the awards were for 2011. The place was cold, and they put us in a booth, and didn't offer to take our coats. The Popadoms tasted like they'd been cooked in old fat. The main courses took an age to arrive ( Lamb Dansak, Prawn Patia, Chicken Tikka Masala and some vegetable dishes ) and were tasteless and boring. No flavour, no spice, nothing. The owner was obsequious. Avoid like the plague.

We visited a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday. Previously we have had very good experiences at this restaurant and I have given excellent reviews. However, this occasion was not very good. It had been pouring down with rain and we arrived very wet. Usually someone would have taken our wet coats but unfortunately this was not the case. The Manager was not to be seen and the waiter was very sullen and unfriendly, not a smile and he did not make us welcome. It was the Sunday buffet and as I had my starter I asked if I could have another plate for the main course. A very curt "one plate per person" surprised me and the company I was with. He grudgingly gave me a plate, I almost offered to wash the other plate up. When people spend money to have a nice meal you would expect to have a happy experience. I have been here on a number of occasions, however on this one we had a really bad experience. The Manager has always been very pleasant and I am sure it was because he was absent. What an unfortunate experience for our party.

One of our greatest pleasures when traveling in the UK is eating Indian Take-away with family and friends. A group of people gives ample opportunity to share a variety of dishes. This was our first time ordering take-away from Forest of India and it certainly did not disappoint! Many of the vegetables were crisp, the dishes were not drowning in ghee, the naan was tender and the flavors were wonderful. I have been coming to this curry house for ever and the reason why is because of the whole experience:The food is unbelievably well cooked with many dishes on the menu that go beyond the standard Jalfrezi or Madras. The 2 favourites of mine are the Chicken Chilli Suka (medium hot) which is a sweet and sour, spicy moorish curry garnished with smoky dried chillies, and the Murug Moricha which is a rich buttery tangy medium curry with tender chicken strips. The pride and hospitality is also lovely. Almost every curry house offers complementary drinks after the meal and The Forest is no different, but the owner Mr Choudhry comes around to every table and warmly welcomes new guests and is genuinely delighted to see old guest return. The last time I visited, he excitedly hurried out to the kitchen and brought out a few free samples of new dishes they have introduced since a Michelin starred chef came to train his staff. All were delicious and free little tasters. Such a nice gestureThe restaurant is impeccable and clean and is decorated with pictures of all the national awards that they have won.Forest of India is a national treasure and I will be returning again and again!See you soon!!

We asked about our desert and a coffee and were told by the owner very sorry we are in a rush you have to go now very sorry but we need the table, when you come back next time I will give you a free coffee. We had the Momo chicken to start which was delicious hubby had the Nepalese chicken which he said was really good. I had the chicken korma I felt it lacked colour it was more of a light green than a nice creamy orange like most other korma’s it tasted like it just been poured out of a tin chicken just had no flavour just totally lacked any flavours not a creamy sauce as described ! Nan bread and rice were lovely. Just sad that the Korma dish let it down. Also thought quite expensive for what it was.
