The Fleur has been shut for a long time and has been run pretty badly for various reasons. In the last month or so things have changed drastically for the better. Jean-Pierre is a great chef and the beer is being looked after

So hoped this pub could get a new lease of life: but no. Visited shortly after it reopened….to be faced with rampaging, unsupervised kids. Thought we’d try again for a meal on Saturday night: arrived to 4 extremely drunk women screaming, singing and shouting how every pub in the area had barred them… can see why. However, they continued to serve them. We asked for a glass of wine, to be told they had none: no white, red or rose. A large booked group arrived, but no preparation had been made for them. The drunken group continued unchallenged for the hour we were there. The large group waited ages for their food, which they said varied from OK to inedible. Obviously we didn’t eat, and will not return until the next manager arrives and sorts out the unpleasant customers.

Wanted to support another re opening and had heard good early things, pre booked carvery for for 8. No table available when we arrived and no white wine or coffee left! eventually a table found 30 mins after booking time. Told no potatoes or cauliflower cheese left ! Only two of the four meats available moist enough to eat. Given a plate of chips to make up for pots ! The four of us who did not eat the meat available where given alternative meals, pizza and fried chicken to top this Fawlty Tower performance no puddings left. We will try again it is early days but would advice not taking walk ins if you then can’t facilitate your bookings and ensure you’ve got the essentials available ie wine, potatoes and coffee

The Fleur has been opened up with new management and chef. Peaceful atmosphere, friendly, obliging staff and incredibly talented new chef! He seems particularly good at creating vegetarian and vegan disthes but my husband had the beef fillet and said it was the best he had tasted (and he's had a lot of steaks!)

When I eventually managed to book for 3 nights in September I had to cancel due to contacting Covid . I informed Fleur De Lis due to contacting Covid and was/am quite ill with it. Unfortunately due to the company policy the £210 was taken from my credit card and could not get a refund. This policy does not bode well for goodwill customer service.

Under new management. Cracking start. Went for Sunday lunch. Lamb, beef, turkey, roast potatoes, veg. all cooked beautifully. Great pint too. Highly recommended. Keep up the great work. It's what this village needs.

This pub has had very bad past but I think the new people running it will turn it around and that’s no mean feat to say the lest Stoke really does need a decent pub for all sorts of reasons and I really wish them well

Without a doubt, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I e stayed in some bad ones. The whole building was filthy and unkept, the stairs up to the rooms was grubby and not seen or heard a vacuum in years. The room was old and tired with curtains struggling to stay hung on the rail. There was a kettle and some random sugars and teas on the bedside table, but no cups. But the worst of it was the bathroom. Skid marks in the loo, as well as I flushed wee. The door to the shower was missing and was replaced by an I’ll fitting curtain, which was only held on my 3 hooks, the rest had given up hope of staying attacked. No glasses for water and a filthy shelf which my toiletries were not going anywhere near. Had we not been going to a wedding, we’d have turned around immediately. Instead we had to get extra drunk just to cope with the room, wake up early, and leave as soon as possible. Don’t be fooled by the charming exterior, this place isn’t fit for farm animals, let alone paying guests.

Best place to go to locally. We tried other pubs for food and they either didn’t want to serve tourists or didn’t have any vegetarian food. We walked in here and the service was excellent, they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food and drinks were amazingly reasonable too.

Looked very inviting from the outside but sadly extremely neglected. Not seen a place that dirty, ever. The garden at the back could have been mistaken for a scrap yard.

This place should be condemned for overnight stays…. Absolutely FILTHY, from the stairs (black with dirt) to the pubic hair and black muck in the shower, dirty spoon left in the bathroom , we booked for 2 nights but left after 1 night , the absolute stuff of nightmares

We’d heard it had new owners so wanted to support them. Sadly it’s worse. Scowls from the drinkers as you walk in, and nothing to make you want to stay The only change are signs in the loos warning about drug taking. Says it all. The police apparently are regular visitors due to late night trouble. It could be a great pub. Why doesn’t the brewery sell it off to someone who cares and wants the village to have a decent pub?

I wouldn’t be so cross if their website wasn’t so misleading but where it says * fires in winter* , what they mean is one small wood burner that wasn’t lit, so the place was freezing. The menu was nothing like the one advertised and was in fact, so poor that we got a taxi to go and eat elsewhere and believe me, we are not fussy people. Sadly we were too tired to drive home so had to endure a filthy bedroom, scruffy, draughty and towels so rough they would take skin off you. No bedside table on one side and a single chair that had the paint peeling off. Honestly, if you can’t be bothered to this extent, why do it at all?

Its like a proper pub in the old days ! You may have workmen drinking at the bar after a hard day at work ! So you may have kids there but they were happy so whats up with that ! The food is very tasty and good vege choice ! All staff friendly ! Good prices ! Support your local ! Its not my local but willing to support landlords who are trying to keep a spectrum of people happy ! Well done landlord we will continue to come for dinner !

We recently moved to the area, and as we like to support local businesses decided to visit. We went at 6pm on Friday and almost went straight back out as we were greeted with two screaming kids who spent the next hour running round and generally ruining the atmosphere. I’m not a fan of kids in pubs, but well behaved ones are OK, but these were not. One blew his nose on a napkin and put it back on the pile. Taking over a new pub is hard, but they need to consider how many customers they’ll lose by running a crèche. At 7pm when the kids left the pub improved immeasurably.
