What an Improvement This is restaurant serves so much more than just pub grub !!! . Enjoyed a lovely meal, well presented and perfectly cooked [so important with fish] Although fish does dominate the menu, there are other choices. Service was excellent and friendly , thank you Victoria. Will definitely return when we are next in the area

We were staying in the village so decided to try the advertised set lunch served on Thursdays and Fridays. Inside the pub is nicely decorated bistro style. The menu is strongly fish based. We noticed a sign for a Friday fish and chip deal so as that was what we fancied, we opted for that rather than the set menu. I feel it should certainly have said ‘our take on fish and chips’. The fish was fine, not sure what it was but a very mild taste but the chips….very dark and as if someone had taken a cooked jacket potato, cut it into wedges and oven baked in some kind of oil. Not visually like a traditional chip or at all crispy. Inside was almost yellow. It just wasn’t what was expected visually or taste wise. The lemon was chargrilled with bits of grill debris on it. Even our bread and balsamic starter had been chargrilled and had a hint of steak to it. We felt the chef was trying too hard to be different yet not making the customer aware. The desserts were limited but nicely presented. No child friendly food or lunch time baguettes etc. So, good if you want to try an interesting fish dish, not so good from our experience for traditional pub fare.

I have been waiting ages to go here since I saw it had changed hands. Today was the day ! A step above pub food, live lobsters in a tank … don’t worry they have to kill them humanly. Nice starters, 3 for £23, We decided to share a lobster, the sauce comes in a separate pot so you can have as much, or little, as you want. Served with green beans and samphire, perfect, and a choice of potato. It was perfectly cooked, well done chef, so many lobsters turn out to be dry … you can have a lobster roll if you don’t want a whole one ! Very friendly staff, although the Manager is off on maternity leave soon , but hopes to be back ! Their website doesn’t like me as I couldn’t get the menu up, so they are going to look at it, apparently I’m not the only one, so that is a comfort for an old gink 😂 They still have old posts on with the wrong menu so be warned !

Really nice food in a lovely village pub. The food includes a lot of fish dishes - the fish & chips was well-cooked with crisp batter. Fresh and modern inside although the beer garden is more of a courtyard.

This pub is our local, never before has it been In such good hands. We just visited for mothers day, we had oysters to start that were beautifuly fresh, followed by the most tender sirloin roast, which came with plentyful veg, and lovely crispy potatoes. I'd probably say this was one of the nicest sunday dinner I've ever had. Servic is fab as the whole team are lovely, and so good with out young daughter. 5 stars guys please keep it up!

Headed here after a walk as FB page showed Dorkijg Brewery ales... I tried the bitter and pale.. they are such great beers but please clean your lines !! Also, make sure you run only the number of hamdpimps you can turn over. Less is more. The idea is great, keep it up. But look after your ales. Its what builds great pubs. Good luck.

A write up in our local paper advised this pub was under new management and having watched the build going on I was interested to see the final result. First things first. I am sure you have to pay for the booking company you use. They are rubbish, I needed to tell them we had an additional option of NOT wanting to bring a dog as this was not an option. I could not place a booking for lunch on a Sunday for more than 6 at lunchtime, 15.30 is not lunchtime. You are wasting your money with this system. You are not big enough to need them, get rid and save money. Following Covid and the resulting staff shortages we were prepared for a mixed reception as we arrived for a full Sunday lunch following a good 6 mile hike with our walking group. I had already read many of the latest reviews and, generally, as there were more positive than bad felt it time to give it a try. All six of us had two course Sunday Roasts and the general consensus was that they were good. The food was very hot and arrived on hot plates which is always appreciated. There was ample quantity hence why none of us could run to a desert this time. I have to add the service was good and attentive and we were checked a number of times to see if we were alright for drinks. These are all things that do not happen elsewhere. There had been a small fire a few weeks back resulting in smoke damage to the soft furnishings hence our metal chairs were a little uncomfortable with no padding, but again not a deal breaker. The ‘optional’ service charge was only 10% again a good call and there was a little charge for the additional gravy jugs but again not a problem (Alex Politzi would be proud in the margin accounting!) In short all of our group would be happy to come back again. I would personally cycle over from Tunbridge Wells to dine here again and pass a number of good pubs on the way. Such is the quality and staffing of this place, good luck going forward.

I have known this pub for over 30 years and I really want it to succeed, but I'm increasingly disappointed by it, over the last few months. The staff are always lovely and a quick brunch is usually good, but my last two visits have been expensive and of a poor quality. A fairly grim Sunday lunch, followed a week later by a very average supper, where my vegetables were barely cooked...... The menu is not broad enough for a village pub, it is getting too expensive and the quality really is not good enough, nor does appeal to enough types of people, families, veggies, .............. where is the pub grub? The affordable, simple food, which a local pub needs to provide, to serve the village..........? Such a shame..........

The lovely serving staff were as friendly and welcoming as ever, but something has happened to the food. It seems there is a new chef, not really on the ball. Mains menu was all fish except for steak and pesto pasta, so not great if you don't eat fish. Most of the fish dishes had meat sauce or flavouring (chorizo in most dishes), so no good for vegetarians. The paella was disaster: nothing like a Spanish paella - no chicken (OK, you can do seafood paella) but far too much chorizo so drowned all other tastes, very liquid (should be dryish), soft rice, no saffron/turmeric; it was just a under-average soggy seafood risotto. Prices are not cheap, so if quality doesn't return, you risk losing the custom you've slowly built up.

Had a late Sunday lunch recently and was disappointed with the roasts. The chicken was off the menu and the beef roast was more like braised steak. Tiny Yorkshire pudding and a small amount of veg - a few tiny roast potatoes, one stick of broccoli and a few savings of parsnip. Not value for money or filling. The ambiance was ruined by 80s music on a tinny sound system. We were hoping that things had improved under the new management (this pub has a frequent churn) but not enough to compete with other pubs in the area selling better food and cosier atmosphere.

we dropped in for a beer this Sunday afternoon. Looks a bit pokey from outside but its surprisingly bigger than it appears. Love the green walls in the restaurant, looks fresh and appealing to the eye. Both boys and gals loo were fresh and very clean. Always a bonus in a public house. I would say this is definitely a sports bar type environment. The bar person and cook on this visit were very hospitable and friendly. We decided to have a meal. The menu is quite slim. The establishment is under new management and this might be why. We both had the same meal which cost around 36£. Sadly what was on the plate didn't reflect that rather high cost, in our opinion. I would probably suggest making the plate smaller instead of spreading 3 potatoes 1/2 carrot and a tablespoon of cabbage ( menu said cauli/cheese )under luke warm beef slices and watery gravy, to make the meal look like 18£ worth. Again, just my opinion.

To avoid an accident on A21 we took an alternative route and passed through Leigh at lunchtime. Spotting the Fleur de Lis we parked and were greeted warmly by the landlord. We decided to eat outside in the pleasantly furnished outside space. The specials board had some interesting dishes but we chose a light meal of duck livers on brioche excellent and a duck stir fry, also very good although for my personal taste a little too much sauce. My husbands real ale was well kept (can’t remember the name). In Kent it is easy to find nice pubs in small villages, with delightful surroundings, such are the joys of visiting or living here. However, to find such a pub, set in a delightful village, with friendly locals, a great selection of drinks, amazingly high quality food, yet highly reasonable prices, is rare. Fleur de Lis is such a place. The pub is well looked after, the staff are delightful, the food is incredible, and the prices are far too low for the quality of cuisine and very generous portions.

Having lived in the village we have been going to Fleur de Lis for many years. It has had several different management over the last 8-10 years, some good some rather average. It is simply sad to visit these days. Sometimes food and service is good but too often it is poor. On the surface things are fine but if you have any complaints the attitude from management is far from 'customer friendly' - perhaps 'arrogant' sums it up.

We were looking for a dog-friendly pub as we were visiting family in Tonbridge. Google to the rescue and up pops this place. In the main, we loved the food. I had the roast lamb which was amazing. My wife had the Chicken burger and sweet potato fries. Kids had chicken burger and chips. Unfortunately the sweet potato fries and the chips were a bit too salty. We then went onto some pudding. Lemon meringue pie and chocolate brownie. Lovely. Very impressed with the range of ales on tap, especially a Timothy Taylor Boltmaker.Only other downside I would say are the prices are quite steep and then there is the 10% discretionary service charge on top. Personally I prefer to reward good service and potentially give more than the 10%.The staff were very attentive and friendly and brought a big bowl of water out for my dog. We popped in here after passing by, without looking at any reviews. It is the only pub/restaurant in a small Kent town, and did some interesting dishes with traditional Sunday roasts. It is mixed. The Sunday roast was huge, with fine accompaniments but the meat was overcooked. On the other hand, the lamb shoulder was outstanding, absolutely fantastic. Similarly, with desserts the sticky toffee pudding with honeycombe ice cream was as tasty as I have had anywhere - not elegantly presented, but hardly the point. The chocolate brownie was dull in comparison. As a solid Sunday roast/traditional Pud English pub, this place gets a comfortable three star decent but instantly forgettable rating. But there are some gems on the menu that would hold their own anywhere.

We did a walk with friends and a 3 year old toddler, having heard the pub was dog friendly. On approaching the bar the landlady was arguing with the waiting staff and seemed disinterested by the half a dozen people by the bar, waiting to get served. When we finally got served drinks (much huffing puffing / rolling of eyes from our host) we were then told they weren't serving food anymore as 'the chef was having a meltdown')The place was half full.

We've eaten here several times recently and it has always been excellent. We've sat indoors and outside and in each location the service and atmosphere has been excellent. They are good with children too and, as other have mentioned, happy for dogs to visit. The food is excellent quality, generous in size yet not dautingly large. Enough for most appetites! Can't recommend the smoked haddock and mash highly enough,

We took our new addition (Spanish rescue dog) to this pub and couldn't have been made more welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and both the landlord and landlady were lovely. We will DEFINITELY be back!

My sister and I arrived at 4pm to find a board which stated that lunch service hours were 12-2.30. We thought we'd ask if there was anything to eat available but expected it might just be crisps. The lady said that the kitchen was closed and the chef had gone home but that she could probably sort out something like nachos. A man sitting just behind said that if we were to let him know what we'd like he would cook it for us (he was the owner). Amazing! I can't remember the last time someone in a pub/restaurant had been so flexible as usually they just shrug their shoulders and it becomes your problem that you didn't adhere to their serving times. We felt that the staff had gone out of their way to make us feel welcome and will definitely return with our friends and family.

This is a charming little pub with a rather lovely staff, who welcomed us in a very friendly manner. It was a flying visit for us, as we were en route to another venue, but we were quite captivated by this establishment and we will definitely return, especially as we understand that the food is very good.

Did a walk from Penshurst to Leigh with my daughter, timing it perfectly for lunch at the Fleur de lis. Hadn't booked...which was the first problem! Not a particularily warm welcome but we were reluctantly shown to a table. On a plus side the menu looked nice and the food was good, although delayed. Think the landlady must have been short staffed as she was rather brusk and almost rude when we observed her serving both us and others and the landlord wasn't much better! Would we come here again - no!

This appears to have been recently refurbished and is now a gastropub, rather than a pub that does food!?The decor is tasteful and the layout good. The proprietors are very welcoming and the other staff are very pleasant. They also played decent background music. There was a decent variety of drinks available, but the menu was a real conundrum! So many nice things, that it was tough to make a choice!!When the food arrived, it was absolutely delicious.Highly recommended. We will certainly be eating there again!

I had a lovely surprise lunch at the fleur for my birthday, and could not be happier! Liver and bacon cooked to perfection. My wife had a cheddar and Brie ploughmans, which was equally lovely.....great value, atmosphere and a lovely welcome from the landlord and landlady, highly recommend.

This was my second visit in a few weeks and both times I've been really impressed by the tasty food and friendly service. We visited for a Sunday lunch, the roast beef was so tender, the roast potatoes really crispy and fluffy and lots of well cooked veg. Games and colouring for the children and friendly service. We will definitely return.

We stopped here en route to London Gatwick. What a charming pub with a charming proprietor! We three had the BLT, mushroom burger, and cheese board. Every bite was delicious! There is also an outside patio in addition to interior dining. Definitely worth a stop!

We had booked a table inside but the sun shone so there was no problem changing our minds and sitting outside. The staff couldn't have been more obliging or attentive. We asked for more veg and gravy and it came instantly. Food was excellent, toilets clean and smart. The only thing that needs attention is the lock on one of the doors in the ladies, hence not an 'Excellent' review. Will look forward to returning soon. Children and dogs welcome.

Food mixed bag - coronation chicken and jacket potatoe- minimal chicken with no sauce on dry potatoe, quite disappointing/ not actually easy to eat. Other dinners were better. Minimal desert portions. Overall - spartan fare + huffing about children, so disappointing.

We dropped in on our way through on a Monday lunchtime. Nice Building, pleasant interior. We were impressed by the friendly atmosphere and the excellent Timothy Taylors "Landlord" guest ale.The choice of food was not vast, which I took as a good sign, and we settled on a prawn curry and a lasagne. We made a point of visiting again this Monday (chilli con carne, ham egg and chips, beer still good ) and resolved to make the trip from Sevenoaks one evening just to check the atmosphere, you understand.

Given that this was our second walk in February we could not have chosen a better location. There was no problem in our having to trim our original 12 to nine due to sickness; it was their loss. A superb roast lunch was had by all and our resident celiac was well catered for. Great piping hot food arrived on hot plates and in plentiful supply. Come here as a walking group, come as a family (yes children are very much welcome) come as a couple but above all COME NOW.You will not be disappointed.

Very solid French style restaurant with a good classic menu. Lamb cooked just as I asked for, generous and tasty. Nicely cooked selection of sides. Cosy bistro style decor. Service was efficient. We'll certainly be back.
