Me and my friends came to visit the restaurant like in their closing time already. We entered and ask if they are still open as it is almost midnight. I think most of the food are kept and the stove are off. When we said that it was so sad as we really wanted to have indian food. They immediately accomodated us. They switched on everything and took our orders. The manager and the staff are very friendly and nice. And the foodddddd, it is AMAZING!!!! I’ve been to india couple of times and I can say it is a real homecooked taste, felt like I am literally in India. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. The staff are organized and efficient. Since we really liked the food, the next day we decided to go again and tried the other dishes they have, and guess what? It didn’t disappoint! It is all DELICIOUS! We will definitely come back when we visit Cardiff again. Kudos to the whole team of Flaming Dragon Cardiff.

No podemos esperar a volver pronto.

Not edible, so much salt and sugar in everything. It's all like desert, all meats are overcooked and left under hot lights for ages to get worse and worse. Sushi is a joke, salmon was brown. Everything looks and tastes like dangerous, seriously, I've eaten in a place called China China which got shut down for health and safety violations and it was 10x better than this place. Staff need an attitude review, after complaining and being disagreed with my girlfriend said "customer is always right" to which the manager replied "I don't know where you come from but that is not the case in this building". We had eaten none of our food and were expected to pay. We left our details and are expecting to hear from the civil court.

I ate here for lunch after going to the cinema. The location of this Chinese is good as it is right by the cinema and shopping facilities. It is decorated nicely and appears clean. We only interacted with one staff member who was friendly enough and we had orange juices which were rather nice. But that's where the positives stop.I got myself some noodles - which is my favourite dish - and was disappointed to find them dry, hard and luke warm. I couldn't eat any more of those so I tried the chicken dish I had. After one bite I thought it didn't taste right and when I looked at it, it had a discerning pink tinge... I wasn't comfortable to eat any more of that. The only things I managed to put away were some chips and rice - which were also luke warm and unpleasant, but tasted not bad. When we left the bill was £30 (for two people) which wouldn't be too bad, but we were not impressed since I could eat barely anything. It's a shame, since it looks so nice and all, but I will not be going back there and wouldn't recommend it.Something additional to consider is that people do have different views of buffet food. I was not impressed at all, but my boyfriend said he didn't mind it and that you can't help food drying out at buffets. So maybe it depends on the standards you expect. However, I've eaten at Chinese buffets before and they were a lot nicer than this one.

Food quality is quite poor, some of the meat we had didn't taste quite right. Bog-standard frozen fare with watered-down sauces and limited choice, as compared to other buffets I have been to in the UK. Attempts to be authentic (won ton noodles, brisket) but not good enough to impress. Banana fritters and freshly made pancakes are good though.Waiting service is generally ok but we were treated quite rudely by the manager who was impolite when asking us why we did not eat our won ton noodles (meat was off!). Unfriendly and I expected better of a manager. Overall would recommend this if you are looking for something cheap and basic to fill up your gut. Anyone who has experienced real Chinese food/better buffet restaurants in other UK cities will find this disappointing.

The prices seem reasonable: they are not. The location is perfect, close to Shopping Mall, Cinema, Casino, etc.I went there for lunch on a Saturday, at 1pm, just when you would expect a crowd of people, just before New Year, when the Shopping Mall wasoverflowing with crowdslooking for bargains.Imagine my surprise to see only 10 people in a buffet restaurant built to handle maybe 200!All food items were stocked full, and were hot. The dishes and tables were all clean. That is the best you could say.I started with "Chicken Mushroom Soup" which tasted like unsalted gruel. The large pieces of lumps of white meat had no flavour. It had been thickened withlarge quantities of tasteless cornflour.I then tried tasteless fried rice, "courgettes with ground pork" - hard yet boiling hot,Fried squid-no appreciable flavour, chicken curry - no flavour white lumps, weak watered down curry sauce, and ten other items which I can't even remember the names of.Everything I tasted, I left uneaten after the first taste. The water I asked for was full of Chlorine. The banana in some kind of sauce in the desert managed to be hard and tastelessThe jelly was alrightI have eaten in well over 200 Chinese Restaurants in the World, from Chinatown, Londonand San Francisco, to individual Restaurants all over Cardiff, and the rest of the World.Even if uninspiring, the Chinese food has normally been decent, but this was the secondworst I have experienced in 45 years. The staff were not pleasant, and at any price, I think this place should close.

As far as buffets go, the flaming dragon restaurant fits into a selection of pretty standard oriental buffets in Cardiff. The food is okay - there is usually a good selection of chinese dishes and it's nice to see staff frequently replenishing the food. The downside of the restaurant is that the floor plan is too big for the amount of people that walk in. The place feels empty. When the venue first opened, there was a really nice water feature, situated between the main seating area and food selection. Since our last visit they have turned this feature off. The gap between the seating area and food now looks like a complete eyesore and isn't very pleasant when eating. I believe the venue is now around a year old but the interior is already starting to show major 'wear and tear'. If the restaurant would consider these options i'm sure it would hugely benefit: 1) Always make sure there are staff for 'show' cooking 2) Introduce offers on website, e.g. student discount 3) Bring back the water feature! 4) Invest in some tlc e.g. the decorated walls are starting to look worn and quite frankly, naff.

Having been to many other Chinese buffets I feel that this one has a limited range of different foods, however this doesn't mean that I ever go away hungry! The atmosphere at decor in here is very nice and the service is good. However drinks are very pricey so be careful, a pint of diet coke is £2.85! One of the best things about this Chinese buffet are the stations where the chefs cook the food for you, like fresh pancakes for dessert and teriyaki salmon and steak - and this is the reason that I keep being dragged (not too reluctantly) back here by my boyfriend! If you're looking for a Chinese buffet this one is pretty good! And for £12.95 per person on the weekend is a little cheaper than some of the others out there.

Watered down sauces in particular the satay sauce, dry food thats been left standing for ages. On our last and final visit we complained and they did change some of the trays but by the time they brought them out we were ready to leave. In summary all effort was made with quality of the food when they opened and then they started cutting costs and corners, will not be going there again.

We have been to Flaming Dragon many times and had enjoyed every visit. However, after yesterday we will not return. The restaurant wasn't really busy. When I was collecting my food from the buffet a female worker rudely pushed in front of me to check on the food. This happened several times. On a table near us were 4 young lads, probably around 16. Although I'm sure the staff must have problems with some customers, these lads were made to pay for their meal up front at the table. The staff were constantly watching them. The lads put any waste food onto one plate and put the other plates in a tidy pile. This plate was collected by a waiter who had a right go at them about the waste. 5 minutes later the manager came over and had words with them too. They then each wanted a coke, the money was taken up front. For the rest of their time there, there was always at least one staff member hovering around by their table watching them. At no point did the lads misbehave or answer back, in fact they were well behaved. I would hate to think that any of my children would be treated like that. These events have put us off visiting the restaurant again.

I dont do buffet restaurants but this is very good, they have there own chefs who will cook you fresh steak, prawns, salmon or other dishes as well, the staff are great and the place is always very clean, will be back.

The food was horrible, cold. There was no curry sauce or chips left (very simple things) and we asked 3times in a 20minute period for these things before they were finally brought out. Also there was a sign saying that the noodles were vegatarian but on further inspection we found chicken. Will never go back!

Monday 21st Nov 2011. 4 of us were heading into the city for a teatime meal. We passed it + it looked lovely inside so when we checked the price was only £6.90 up to 17.30 it was worth a try. It was quiet and we were showed a window table + offered drinks. All food was fresh + hot + tasty. We all tried a bit of everything from the side dishes, ribs, noodles to the curries and beef dishes. Desserts were colourful but we all had bowls of ice cream. The waiters + waitresses were very helpful + friendly. Would go there again. Recommended.

In our experience Flaming Dragon was much like any other Chinese buffet restaurant with a few features that stood out. A lot of the dishes were in containers with lids which seemed good as it was nice and hot but not all dry. The woman at the sushi counter was quite helpful when we were trying to decide what to get and the place was modern and fairly nice inside. Unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. Although the choice of dishes was good and the pots with lids did their job, the quality wasn’t great and everything was just a bit mediocre. The service was a bit naff as well, the place was very quiet but we still struggled to get the attention of a waiter and had to keep going and asking for drinks. On the whole it was ok but not the treat that we usually expect if we go out and for the money there certainly better places.

Great choice of food but a shame that on Sunday lunchtime, part of the buffet was not available. Food was tasty and hot which was good. The desserts did not look appetising as were very brightly coloured and synthetic looking! Always drink tea with an Asian meal and it is the first time I was given a teapot with a solitary tea bag in it! Should have been loose tea! Still fun place to go and would go back.

Picked this restaurant for a Sunday afternoon meal as it has only recently opened and as we have tried several buffet Chinese in Cardiff it was worth a try.As a family group of 9 I felt it would be difficult to find a room for us at 2.30/3pm on a Sunday, but was pleasently surprised that I could book a table. The restaurant wasn't too busy, so we a free run to the food stations, a mixture of Chinese and western dishes. All the food we tried was well good, and worth the £7.95 per head.

Amazing food every time. Super fast delivery and great vegan options. Dishes getting a little more expensive but worth it for the quality. Highly recommend!
