Flame in Belfast

Good food at decent prices. Sadly let down a bit by the service. We were asked about 7 times in 10 mins if we were ready to order. We just wanted to chat and enjoy our cocktails for a bit first. Other than that a great buzz and good food.

Really good, the decor is outstanding and the open kitchen is a nice touch. The portions where good I had the chicken wings to start and a ribeye as a main, we where served very quickly and all the food came promptly.

Had an evening meal here with friends during a three day visit. The food is well cooked but the menu is a bit limited and we thought expensive for what you get. I ordered a Wagyu beef burger and chips and the presentation was, quite frankly, uninspiring. The burger was ok but we felt it needed something more than just a bun and a bit of lettuce to justify the price. It is quite a big room but the large windows out onto the street make it feel like a goldfish bowl. Not exactly a bad experience but not one we wanted to repeat.

We visited on a Friday evening before heading to a show at the Opera house. Would recommend making a reservation as it gets busy! Pre theatre menu is great value for money - unfortunately I've no pictures of our pan fried chicken as we tucked straight in. It was delicious, would definitely order again. Sticky toffee pudding was lovely too, served with honeycomb ice cream which was perfect. Cocktails were fantastic and really well presented. Really comfy atmosphere and fantastic service.

Disappointing first time at Flame. The restaurant is beautiful with lovely decor and we had high hopes once seated. The menu has lots of variety and we went for the Pre-Theatre menu. Party of 3 - 2 had soup for starters, lukewarm and very bland. 1 had chicken wings which were nice, nothing special. For mains 2 had chicken, which might as well have been a child's portion. 2 tiny bits of chicken on either side of mash and a spring onion which couldn't be cut as it was so hard. The burger was nice, chips horrible, again small portion size. I would imagine anyone with a good appetite would have needed a takeaway on the way home. Sticky toffee puddings were the best of the 3 courses. However, overall disappointing and wouldn't be rushing back any time soon!

I ate here on a Saturday while visiting for the weekend. It was recommended by locals we know. The atmosphere is good and staff are good at their jobs. The food was lovely. I had the vegan chilli (I’m not vegan) and this was really good. Was disappointed with the flatbread starter, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. The dessert was also disappointing and I didn’t think was worth the price but maybe I chose the wrong one. Overall I would eat here again but would probably choose differently.

I was very disappointed with everything, I needed to wait over 30 minutes to be served. the food was bad and tested like it was reheated. the server was so hard to reach and was rude when we asked for something.

We were over an hour early for our table but they took us straight away. Every member of staff was attentive without being 'in your face'. The cocktails were gorgeous and the food was outstanding. We didn't have to wait long at all. Great vibe but not so noisy that we couldn't hear each other talk. Can't wait to come back!

We had a lovely visit to Flame for a girls day out. On arrival we were greeted by Sarah-Jane who was the best hostess, welcoming and engaging! We were very well looked after and the food was beautiful. We will be back for sure!

I gave have a four star rating, but a five-star rating for food, service, and atmosphere because of the value for money. For five people, we incurred a set 10% service charge for the entire bill. Whether we liked it or not, it was added. This included drinks, so you pay a premium for corkage the more expensive your drink is never mind the cost of the meals. Three of the meals were steaks, the most expensive menu item, but with probably the least effort from the chef, streaks would be pre butchered ready for a couple of minutes on the grill, a sprinkle of salt and serve. Like I say, the food and service were good, but I felt I was stung with the bill. You can't have it both ways. Either lower the menu rates and add for service or let the customer decide on the gratuity.

My sister and I could not fault our 1st "Flame" experience, the service was prompt, checked on regularly and no long waits between courses. My cocktail recommendation from our server was spot-on, pity we hadn't more time for a 2nd "Peach Please!!" I can be a picky eater, but I cleared my plate and cooked exactly as I asked. Definitely will be a return customer and will be highly recommending Flame to all.

I recently visited the flame and the menu was quite limited. I asked the waiter for a glass of bordeaux,which they didn't have so he suggested a class of pinot noir instead. I agreed. When he returned he palmed a glass of merlot unto me, when i got the boll they charged me for a pinot noir which was 1.50 dearer. I ordered The beer battered fish and chips of the menu it turned out to be awful. I would not go here again. To be avoided.

A very great restaurant. Ate very well. The dessert was also amazing 👍 It's best to reserve in advance. We were super satisfied.

We had dinner in flame last night to celebrate a graduation! Food was fair with very small portions.. not a vegetable to be seen on any plate .. v expensive for mediocre food !! Would not recommend it !! Staff lovely !

My group of friends and I went for dinner on Monday the 24th. The place is nice inside, the toilets seem clean but the service was quite slow at first. It took them more than 20 minutes to take our orders and the place was not very full, not to mention the time it took to bring out the main dishes. The Gazpacho, which is one of the starters, was SUPER SALTY and spicy, my friend and I couldn't finish it and for the second I ordered the Parpadelle pasta dish and I have to say that it was more meat sauce than pasta and again Super salty that I only ate the little pasta that came with it. Good things: The cocktails were very well presented and very good. I ordered a latte as my last drink and I have to say that it was very well made, quite creamy. The manager of the place and a red-haired waitress were friendly.

Good food, a bit over priced I think, for a £10 starter of wings I would expect more than 4 peices and secondly the pop corn starter which is actually just coated pop corn was not worth the money at all. Would I return probably not.

Came with a couple of friends for lunch and unfortunately left disappointed. Three of us ordered the crispy tofu off the £10 lunch menu. We mistakenly thought we would get a decent portion as it wasn’t on the small bites section and none of the waiters suggested that we should order more. It came with 5 bits of tofu and a small portion of rice, with the accompanied sauce tasting like it was out of a packet. Although it tasted ok, the dish should have been under starters. Not impressed and starving 😄 decided not to waste any more money and headed round the corner for a slice or pizza instead. Restaurant has a lovely decor and ambience, but probably won’t be back

Delicious food and wonderful service, well worth a visit if you are in the area and want a quality dinner in relaxed surroundings and with attentive wait staff.

A really lovely night out with the girls. Our hostess was on point and made us feel very welcome, she was most attentive. Our food was well presented and delicious. The cocktails were even better than the food. Great vibes for a pre show dinner, great start to our evening in town. A tad pricey but worth every penny.

Came here having been turned off from a booking in a different restaurant. Relatively quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Shared snacks of pork scratchings and fried halloumi to start. Not much taste from either. Then had Chicken and Chorizo Rigatoni which was stunning. Very tasty and creamy. Followed up with a Peanut Butter Cheesecake with a Chocolate Brownie Base, which was lovely. Drinks are fairly priced and service was friendly. I enjoyed it for what it was - very uncomplicated food and drink.

We went in for a quick lunch without a reservation. The staff was very helpful and the food was exceptional. Loved the fillet and the cocktails.

Delicious food and fantastic service. We were on a tight timeline for dinner, because of an appointment, and the staff were so accommodating. Our food was served super quick, with no compromise on quality, and we finished on time. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Comfortable seating and surroundings. Staff were grand. Food wise was there for lunch. I chose wrong thing- Sesame Tofu -as much as it was tasty the portion size was really small- child size 4 tiny bitesize pieces. Was starving when I got home. The burgers looked good.

Got recommended Flame by word out mouth by a friend but won’t be back. Myself and my partner came to the restaurant last Saturday with high expectations not only was it my partners birthday but also was recommended to us. Drinks were fine offered drinks continuously but starters came I got prawns chilli and nduja sausage however there was no nduja sausage in it so it set off alarm bells , my partners burrata and heirloom tomatoe salad came with no salad which is mind boggling. Now we get onto the bad bits, we waited over 45 minutes for our Tomato and white bean stew and a fillet steak which I understand takes some times to cook correctly but not 45 minutes, my partner felt the stew was heated up in the microwave as when she went to eat it it was absolutely scalding hot and the oil had moved to the top of the dish, the steak was cooked fairly ok but to wait that long for a meal with only one steak it’s really unacceptable, oh and it cost me nearly £100 pounds. I don’t ever complaint about restaurants but when you have people come in and order their food at least a half hour after you’ve sit down and they get there starters mains and desert before you even receive you main is very disheartening. Best of luck to this restaurant in the future but I won’t be back

First time in Flame. Setting is lovely but music was too loud. Waitress couldn’t hear us or us her. We couldn’t chat without shouting across table. I had the lamb dish was was really good. Also veg side dishes were lovely especially the crispy cabbage. However the steaks were described as ok but nothing special. Prawn starter was also great and chocolate nemesis was very tasty with a really nice consistency. Sticky toffee pudding sauce was lovely but the actual pudding too dry and plain. Overall would probably not rush back again.

During a visit to celebrate an anniversary we were looking forward to a great meal and service, well our hopes were extinguished rather quickly. From the time we walked in the door seated and brought water for the table, not to bad maybe only a few minutes, then it all went down hill, another 15 minutes pass until we are asked it we would like to order a drink, yeah the water wasn’t really cutting it thanks. Once we placed an other for our drinks we waited for them to arrive. Not too long about another 10 minutes considering there was only one bar tender on. So we get left with our drinks, being in the service industry myself I would have expected to be asked if we were ready to order. No! Instead the drinks were set down and another 5 minutes pass before yet another server approached us for our order. As we were ordering advised the cote de beouf was just sold out, I feel like if we were seen to in a timely manner this may not have been the case but I digress, we place and order. The starters came out and they were very nice, no mid way check to make sure everything was ok with the food. When it comes to the mains again the food was ok, never had garlic butter served with a steak that was still cold and solidified but I move. My fiancée couldn’t finish her burger so left it have cut on the plate with knife and fork closed on the plate. It sat like this for 30 minutes! Not once did we have a server check in with us to ask if the food was ok, as I am sitting in flame right this second I have had enough time to write this full review without so much as a would you like another drink? Really not impressed with the service considering the prices of the place, was expecting a much higher standard!

First visit to the new Flame after several enjoyable dinners in the old one around the corner in Howard Street. First impressions were favourable, lovely place, spacious, well lit, good atmosphere with the open kitchen feature retained. But then it started to unravel a bit. We had been informed by fone (credit for that) that due to staff shortages in the kitchen, only a limited starter menu would be available. Fine. These things happen. But limited really did mean limited... a choice of bread, chicken wings or soup. Still, we got on with it and all three offerings were tasty, especially the generous helping of breads. We endured a bit of a wait for the mains, again understandable and forgiveable, in the short staff circumstances, and the food, when it did arrive, was excellent. Sympathy evaporated, however, when the floor staff began rushing us out, furnishing the bill while we were still on our Calyspo coffees. Then they started flicking the lights on and off! It was only after 10pm but they were clearly in a hurry to get rid of us. It meant drinking up, paying up and bringing forward our taxing from the booked time. We had friends down from the north coast, especially to try Flame, an outing we had been looking forward to, a rekindling of our fond relationship with the old Flame, but, sadly, we were not shown much warmth on this occasion. Our taxi driver on the way home asked if we would go back.. the generous concensus was mmmmmmmmmm? A pity as the place had promised so much more.

Had a fantastic lunch , nibbles, drinks and cocktails with friends. The food was excellent and the decor was amazing. The staff were very very helpful and we will definetly be back in next few weeks for an evening meal. Very handy to Bus and Train station and seconds from the City Hall. would highly recommend for a lunch or evening meal and keenly priced.

Very disappointed. Booked online, received a confirmation email, only to turn up to an empty restaurant. Just not good enough.

Myself and my partner had the Cote de boeuf and the kids had Ribeye and Fillet, all delicious, we had triple cooked chips and Parmesan and truffle fries, Cauliflower cheese dish and Ceaser salads with our steaks and pepper corn sauce, superb all round.

Lovely food and atmosphere, my starter never arrived but the steak made up for it! There were some large parties in so some staff seemed distracted

Food was a little disappointing I got the pork chop on the menu and it was really over cooked. Half a cabbage that was on the plate wasn’t that nice either and there was too much of it. My sweet potato fries also weren’t all fully cooked. For the price of the main course I was so disappointed. My husband had a steak and it was fine, but not amazing. Cocktails were fabulous though and the staff very nice.

Everybody is trying hard, but the wine list fell off the back of a truck. I used to drive trucks and I used to import wines. I also used to work in a kitchen which is why it is so sad to see kitchen working hard and crap plonk served as wine.

Food great service was ok as they would not swap the chips for mash on the battered cod as my uncle could not eat chips as of soft diet

Had fabulous pre theatre meal last night. Food delicious and restaurant was beautiful, relaxed and spacious. Waiting staff were superb. Special thanks to Martin, waiter who took our order. So pleasant and cheerful and helpful. Will definitely return.

Really excellent experience when we ate out here as a family in late December. The staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The fillet steaks were great quality and cooked perfectly (one rare, one medium) and sides / sauces beautiful. The other meals were absolutely beautiful aswell, and complimented with a premium wine. We would definitely call here again when in the area. Very laid back and enjoyable meal

Nothing special or spectacular. Service was decent - staff were friendly and attentive enough. Food was average but have had better. Chicken wings were small. Breads could do with tapenade or balsamic for dipping in rather than butter (which was in the little packs; wasn’t even presented nicely). Steak was fatty. Burger was nice but dry/overdone. The actual restaurant itself is quite cool, with the bar in the middle and gives a very modern feel. What ruined it was the choice of seats we were given - at the kitchen door with staff running in and out or the front door with customers loitering around waiting to be seated - I understand restaurants want to squeeze people in to make more money but I’m not sure either of those spots are the place to have a table.

Stopped in for lunch, Ryan went above and beyond. Really enjoyed the sandwich and vegan pasta. Would come back again due to the fantastic service.

Food is bit overpriced but for the atmosphere and vibe you can understand. Problem is portion size is very small and the taste is mostly average. Steak was such a disappointment.

We went twice in December both times service was really good but the food was a let down. Had fish and chips the second time and chips were hard and tasteless as if they'd been cooked a few times.

Seriously, best steak I have had in a while. This was the first place we ate in Belfast and it did not disappoint. Definitely on the pricey side, but WELL worth it. The fit out inside is such a fun vibe!

A cosy and enjoyable place for dining. The medium rare sirloin steak was soft and juicy and it comes with a choice of side and dipping sauce. I went with the onion rings and garlic butter. A slab of garlic butter goes perfect with the steak. The portion is sizeable and well worth the £36. The fish and chips was crispy and authentic.

We had a fantastic meal in Flame tonight, both steaks cooked as requested and all the sides were fantastic.

Beautiful, relaxed restaurant with first class food. The menu had a great selection and great drinks and cocktail list as well. Had two courses and each of the meals was superb. Service excellent quick and overall experience fabulous.
