Went last Thursday dinnertime. 2nd day of trading since reopening. Ordered fish and chips. The fish batter had no real colour and was really soggy. Worst fish I have ever had by a long chalk, and the chips were not much better. Would give it 2/10 and that's being generous. Cost £5. They seriously need to up their game. This used to be one of the best chipped in Ashton.

The outlet has been taken over and is no longer selling haddock and the price list has had it removed. Being told by the owner that they ‘would speak to their supplier’ regarding the haddock sounded a tad limp. Surely, as the owner, you can sell what you like? I always thought that The Fish Net was trying to be a quality outlet, rather than compete with the other fish and chip shops in Ashton, but, alas, it no longer does. The cod was ok, but a bit dry from sitting under the heated lights. When we visited last Saturday, it was definitely quieter than previous times, but this could be due to being the first Saturday of the summer school holidays.

Excellent service, delicious fish and chips what more can be said? Eat in or takeaway I have rarely had nicer traditional fish and chips. Strongly recommend!

Always love a good Fish Net. the chips are always fresh and the fish is perfectly battered in a light crispy batter. Worth a visit.

Have frequented The Fish Net often over the years, however, we had not been for quite a few months. I was so looking forward to some decent fish and chips (as per previous visits) only to be so disappointed. I think it may have changed hands as the meal was very poor. Good quality fish spoilt by overcooking and a change of oil required. Will not be returning.

I echo the contributor who says this is the best chippy in Ashton, it is, by a mile! Great fish and chips, good deals, freshly cooked, good service. Grandkids love it as well, what more can I say!

Good little fish and chip restaurant facing the back of Ashton market hall. Fish is excellent and freshly cooked, three small tables ground floor, upstairs dining room also. Great fish, had the Cod.

The fish net is brilliant, me and my family have been going in the fish net from what pretty much seems like the dawn of time, as well as knowing several of the staff, past and present (I happen to work with one of them now) None of us have never been able to fault anything at the fish net, the food is brilliant, by far the best in Tameside, its not extortionately price and the service is great. You won't be disappointed. The only place other than the Fishnet I will eat fish from is in Blackpool! If you don't like the food here I'd recommend seeing you're GP as there must be something wrong with you're taste-buds.

The service was rude and frustrating. As soon as you walk in the door you are pressured into ordering. The staff are young and unprofessional and it's uncomfortable to be around. Not a nice lunch environment. The food was pleasant but the people brought the reputation down. I wouldn't visit again.

Too many scraps.chips are awfull, the standards have definitely gone down recently.whilst prices have gone up.concentrating on profits instead of quality.

Great fish n chips and they do small portions which is also good my only concern is that the seating is a bit low and they don't catter for disabled people pram or pushchairs it's a very poor seating arrangements but overall very good

Lovely clean cafe, lovely freshly cooked food, they sell smaller portions too, sometimes it's awkward asking for a child's portion for a pensioner, no problem here...... Keep up the good work Fishnet.

I can't fault the food at the fish net. It's always fresh, hot and reasonably priced. I have one grip that has happened on more than one occasion. I get half an hour for my lunch, so I'm usually in a rush. The guy that serves you (covered in tattoos) is pleasant.... But if there are young girls in front of you, your in for a long wait. Service completely stops while he shows them his tattoos and flirts uncontrollably, which is toe curling.

You will have to travel some distance to find fish and chips this good. Working in Ashton it's difficult to resist their food for lunch. Go try.

The fish and chips were very good indeed, and the price was almost incredibly low. Service quick and pleasant. If I had a quibble it would be that the fish portion was a tad small, but given the low cost it was fair enough. Bigger appetites probably need to add an extra item or two.

We always went to another chippie in town and then someone recommended this place just behind the indoor market. A tiny place but with ample seating upstairs with waiter service! It's a family run business and you can tell. Clean, friendly and good quality products, some home made. I honestly think it's the best I have tasted and probably the cheapest. If you are in Ashton, go there. This from a fish fanatic.

Nowhere for miles around can you find fish and chips like the Fish Nets. We have a fish + chip shop 3 minutes walk from our front door (and numerous others in the vicinity) but will not eat from any of them. Prefer a 10-15 minute drive to get such excellant quality at a very reasonable price. The food is always fresh, with various choices of fish, the staff friendly and efficient, the premises are basic but very clean and serve their purpose like any other fish and chip shop. Give them a try - you wont be sorry.

Best chip shop in Ashton! So nice to have fish that doesn't taste like it's been sat on the counter for days. I'd eat their fish for Christmas dinner!

Used to be a very good fish and chip cafe, but visiting recently the service was poor, food was greasy and they have squashed more tables into the main room making it cramped.

the best fish to be had. nowhere within a 30 mile radius cooks a fish like the fishnet.the taste of the food is just hmmmm mmmmmm no other words can do it justice.the staff are very friendly and polite and the fish is cooked to order. it doesn't take long and well worth the wait.there were plenty of seating areas inside and outside which was packed with people eatingwhich can only be a good thing if you haven't been yet go and try it you wont be dissapointed

Was looking for a lite bite before flying and by chance on maps this was 2min from where we were. We didn't book in advance but was warmly welcomed and the hostess was lovely throughout. To say she is on her own she works amazingly efficient. We ordered 7tapas and some bread between the 4of us and every single one was served timely, piping hot and absolutely delicious. We would highly recommend the Scoth Eggs. The only reason for 4 giving 4 star instead of 5 is the decor felt a little dated. Nothing at all to do with servive or quality. Will definitely return when back in the area.
