Sorry only two stars based on the fact a buffet of Contintental breakfast was indicated on your website but was not available. A cooked English breakfast is not my preference and I expected cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt as an alternative option. Yoghurt was produced in a bowl on request. I had to ask for a spoon. Unripe pear and kiwi from the fridge were also offered but they were inedible. Toast was produced but I had to ask for butter. The room was well-appointed and clean.

We phoned a couple of weeks ago and asked for availability for a table of 11 on a Sunday afternoon within half an hour and we were told that yes this could happen which was fab! Absolutely amazing roast dinner and service from the staff and even the meals for all our little ones were great. Me and my partner were in the area again today and decided to pop in for a roast again and it was just as good with the same great service. Highly recommend!

We stayed for 2 night with our dog in a dog friendly room. (Thus is a first for us) We were surprised to find 2x dog bowls in the room on a tray with a bag of dog treats. The room was very clean and didn't smell of dog, it was spacious and had every thing we needed. The staff were so friendly to us and our dog from the moment we stepped inside to when we left, theu couldn't do enough to help. The locals in the pub were also very friendly and chatty. We ate here the first night and planned to eat somewhere else the second night before we arrived. The vegetarian roast was ok but could have done with a yorkshire pudding my ham egg and chips was ok personally I prefer gammon than ham. I asked for pouched eggs and the chef accommodated this. Breakfast was lovely and again they couldn't do enough to help. Would defistay here again. Thank you.

Called into The Fishermans Haunt for Sunday lunch having driving past many times and saying we must try! We had already booked online, a simple and quick process. Greeted straight away by a friendly man and shown to our table. The waitress could not have been more helpful and friendly. Having a dear elderly with us who sometimes can be a little challenging due to her illness eating out can sometimes go a little off course. We all felt at ease in this establishment and so were all able to enjoy our lunch. Well the Sunday lunch was amazing, plentiful, well cooked and the Yorkshire’s were proper ones not the horrid frozen ones most places seem to dish up. The gravy was out of this world along with the chicken which just melted in the mouth. We all commented that this was the best Sunday roast we have had out in a long time. Would certainly return. Keep up the excellent dishes.

Bedroom was clean, in good order and well-appointed. The bathroom was small but neat and tidy with a great shower and places to put wash-kit, make-up bags etc. The pub is fairly standard, with 'pub grub' menu - pie and mash, fish and chips etc. The interior is tidy but a little spartan - sound echoes making conversation difficult. The food quality was good though, and the service very good. There is plenty of space, inside and out on the terrace and in the beer garden. The location is ideal for visiting Christchurch, Bournemouth etc. Just 10 mins drive away but far enough out to escape the business of the town.

Stayed here for one night with our dog, room was very spacious however no bowls for food and water which other reviews said they had in their rooms. Bed was comfy however there was a lot of noise from the guests upstairs, could hear them walking around and talking (think there could be wooden floor stairs). We were also told that there would be a £10 fee for our dog but when we checked in had to pay £20.

Went for dinner with friends who were staying in the hotel. The menu is tight one veggie, 2 fish and 5 meaty pub classics. We had a ham egg and chips and the eggs were perfectly fried and the ham thick and tasty. The fish pie had a good mix of fish and seafood with mash and cheese on top and a small side salad. The banoffee pie seemed like home made with very fresh bananas.

We with other couples stayed for one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. On the same day my relatives booked with Booking.com at a rate of £140 we booked directly at a rate of £150! ( unbeknown to me at the time) I usually like the personal contact with the hotel and assumed, wrongly , that they would give me their best deal. The room was quite comfortable although quite dark even with the lights on and the toilet holder was loose. We booked our breakfast for 0800. There were only 4 other people in the restaurant. We had to look around for the coffee and cereal. The Full English breakfast was very poor, no mushrooms, poached eggs not soft and runny. We were not offered extra toast. The scrambled eggs with the salmon were over cooked. No toast for the marmalade. I emailed the hotel re the difference in rates and they declined a refund but offered a £10 voucher. Which of course I declined as we will not be staying again. We did receive an email asking us to book directly with them to get the best room rate !! On a positive note it was very quiet and we slept very well.

Great location as i have lived in this area for more than 30 years but go into this place some many times, recently noticed it`s very quiet then checked my bill, if you eat there outside like any normal pub they charge you a 10% service charge for pub food, probably explains ones of the reasons they are quiet in pub. Why do places think it is acceptable to charge a service charge that is set, it`s up to customers, when will these owners learn!! Won`t be going back, try the New Queen down the road.

Visited the Fisherman’s Haunt for an evening meal with friends. The oval table in the restaurant was ideal for our party of 6, and all the tables were spaced sensibly so that it didn’t feel over-populated. The service was polite and attentive and the food extremely good, with the dishes well presented and evidently not pre-packaged or frozen. Having stayed on several previous occasions decided to book a late stay. Didn’t have a problem with our room. Exceptionally clean and comfortable, fresh towels and room cleaned each day. When it came to breakfast this left something to be desired. On previous occasions great choices of fruit, yoghurt and cooked breakfast. Fantastic place for a break, exellent access to Hampshire and Dorset attractions. My wife and I stayed at The Fishermans Haunt for a 4 night break. As soon as we walked in, we were met with a beaming smile from Lizzie, who was so helpful and welcoming. We decided to have Sunday lunch, as we had travelled from Kent, and experienced some traffic problems. Sunday roast was delicious, extra gravy was asked for, which came up staright away, without any fuss. I met Neil, when I checked in, he carried both cases from my car to our room, which I might add was a charming contemporary / period room, with everything you could need, and it was air conditioned too. The bed was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast each day, and had a wonderful dinner on Wednesday evening, with a bottle of Pinot Grigio, prices are very competitive, service is most exceptional, and enhances any meal. We will return, and wouldnt hesitate to recommend anyone to stay at The Fishermans Haunt. Well dome and thank you, Neil, Lizzie, Gavin, and not least, Laoise. Thank you for your perfect and warm hospitality. Les Homewood.

So have been here recently for an evening meal with friends which was lovely so recommended to family to go for Sunday lunch which was a huge mistake. Never seen gravy that colour or thickness and had an odd flavor, parsnips were black food was only just warm, chicken not breast appeared to be thighs. Veg option cauliflower was so hard. 2 of the party had fish and chips which were fine . Interesting not once did anyone ask how our food was or ask if we wanted dessert. Such a shame as will now not return.

So disapointed. We come here often in the summer as its a nice bike ride so thought we'd try a quick Monday dinner as we've eaten here last year. Really average/basic food, on par with a greasy spoon cafe. Fish and chips with 'scraps' =no scraps. Asked for my eggs over easy and they came snotty. Just really annoyed we chose here when The Crown up the road is much better food. To add insult the automatic service charge!! For very little service. Then as we were leaving the only exit 4/5 people stood right in the doorway smoking . These were members of staff! Only option to walk through the disgusting wafts of smoke. Definitely won't be returning in a hurry.

The Fishermen's Haunt went for a Sunday lunch and had the Sirlin Beef Roast, which was £20.95. The sticky Toffee Pudding with ice cream was £7.95. The food was a bit expensive, but the quality and the service were excellent. Lizzy asked me if everything was alright, and I said I could do with a few more roast potatoes and low and behold. I got a little dish with 4 more duck fat roast potatoes appeared. That's what I call service. The Amstel lagar and lime was £5.50. Nice clean lavatories with a hook on the back of the door. Good pub, has good reviews on rooms as well, nice area in Winkton on Salisbury Road Christchurch.

When I say we heard every step the room above made. From every toilet flush. To every time they walked across the room. There Tv.And the 7am alarm they had set and then the repeat alarm to 7.30am on a Sunday. I understand why you have wooden floors as it’s dog friendly. But you should have carpet in a room above. That would really help with the noise. Just thought you may want to know this for your future guests. Unfortunately I cannot review the food, it never actually made it to the table !!! We decided to stop here for lunch. We arrived about 1pm, the pub was empty having only approximately half a dozen people inside. We ordered our drinks , which arrived after about 10 minutes, at which time we ordered lunch - 2 toastie’s and sausage and mash. After another 40 minutes I enquired as to how long our lunch would be. I was told it was just coming. 20 minutes later, and still with no food I paid for our drinks and we left. As I said I cannot comment on the food, the lady who took for the drinks was very apologetic, but the service for an empty pub at lunchtime was atrocious. I hope if you try here, you at least get to eat! I certainly won’t be going back here again.

Been once before and had the best experience, took my sister and my son out for lunch and thought we would venture here again as were left so pleased last time. Fairly empty for a Friday lunch but a few drinkers in the garden. Was given a very small lunch menu with limited options with little to none hot meals apart from chips.. however the kids Menu looked more appealing. Ordered a kids burger, chicken sandwich and ham and cheese and 2 pints of Pepsi which I’m total came to about £43 total for sandwiches… took a sip out my glass to find the whole Rim covered in old lipstick from the person before, my sons burger was completely inedible, the bun was stale (couldn’t cut through it) the burger looked questionable and wouldn’t take the risk. My sandwich came out burnt to a crisp and could taste nothing but burnt toast. The chips were basic to say the least but by far the best. Took both back and asked for a refund while the last sandwich came out looking half decent. For nearly £50 spent, nearly a whole refund which still hasn’t come through after the manager saying “it will take a couple hours” and then leaving very hungry and disappointed. We both work in hospitality and understand standards and also understand how hard it can be. But a very quiet afternoon, an unreasonable amount of money and slow service we won’t be returning! My last point, always take your receipts as the menu price of sandwiches was less than what you are actually paying!
