Fish 'n' Hook in Aberdeen City

We ordered two standard fish and chips, just over £20. Quality of food was actually surprising. The fish tasted of actual fish, not just batter. Chips tasted too. Servers were really sweet and patient. Would recommend!

Amazing battered fish. Fresh cooked in 7 mins. Crispy batter and succulent white fish WOW! Got a few free chips to try too. Excellent service.🥳

We ordered a regular haddock and chips, and a battered sausage and chips last night from Fish N Hook. I saw that they did Panko breadcrumbs and thought I’d try it. Glad I did! The coating is super crispy and not at all oily, and the fish is completely encased making it perfectly steamed inside. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food, packaging, and service. The only constructive feedback I could give is to please use local potatoes 🙏🏻 We’ll definitely be back! ** Update ** Recently heard that there was a shortage in the supply of local potatoes in Aberdeen, which must be why they were using Spanish potatoes.

Best chipper in Aberdeen, without a doubt. Everything is cooked fresh, and nothing sits under heat lamps, so the batter is always crisp and the chips are fluffy. Great quality haddock, too.

Currently my first choice for Fish and Chips in Aberdeen. Looks clean, staff are friendly and nothing is every too oily / greasy. They have information on display showing where they source produce.

after checking the reviews was extremely excited to try here, but when the food was collected and arrived home a meet 5 minute drive it was not what was expected. The batter on the fish was uncooked at parts and had completely fallen apart in the box, the chips were almost melted onto the parchment at the bottom, at a price of near £15 for a jumbo haddock supper this is quite a let down. I’d like to give them a chance again in the future but it’s a lot of money to pay for something that imo was very subpar.

I ordered a half portion of chicken fillets and garlic mayo dip(Nochips, no salt, just vinegar). I ended up with an extra chicken fillet, a small amount of chips and my dip. (They gave me slightly more than i ordered, absolutely amazing). I got home, i dug in, the batter, was crispy and yet still a tiny bit moist, preserving the juicyness and taste of the chicken, meaning absolute perfectly cooked to precision. I would give them a 10/10, no qualms, this team know what they are doing and are trained to absolute perfection. :). This isn not the first time I've experienced this absolutel perfectly fried chicken, but now I am determined for you to try it, and recieve this incredible gift of fantasticly perfectly cooked battered chicken. TRY IT! It's amazing!

We were looking for a fish and chip shop in aberdeen and decided to visit fish n hook. Best fish and chips for a long time! Lovely light batter and the freshest fish. The fish cakes were well flavoured and homemade very tasty. good sized portions we will be back on our next trip up to Aberdeen.

Best fish and chips in town bar none. We had friends round and everyone enjoyed it. Beautifully white tasty fish and chips with a crisp edge to them. The only thing I would suggest is to change to the boxes that have a separate area for the fish. If you have any distance to go, by the time you get home the batter on the bottom of the fish is a greasy mess on the chips.

A previous reviewer wrote the fish n' chips here were "to die for." So, on our way back to Edinburgh, we detoured to Aberdeen so our fish loving friends could taste for themselves. It's true, they said. This is the best. A single serving of the lightly battered haddock is enough to feed two adults.

Far superior to Stonehaven's 'The Bay' in its beautifully crispy, but not too dry batter, tender fish and a balance of flavour.

It is probably the best chippy I’ve tried. Deserve to have won the best chippy in Scotland. We ordered - Scampi 5* out of 5 - Haddock 4* - Onion rings 4* - Macaroni pie 3* - Fish cake 2* (too much potatoe. Hardly any fish) Despite taking 25mins to reach our destination, the batter was still crispy. I wonder what premium oil they used to present the freshness. Only a takeout. No place to eat!

This is a take out only restaurant, often times we only manage to take 10 steps outside the restaurant and eat it on the street. Because its that delicious! Must try their panko haddock and panko cajun chicken. Simply outstanding and cheap. The server is very nice too. Makes me always stop here whenever nearby this store.

Treated the grandchildren to evening meal when we were visiting.

Disappointed with the food I got last night, chips were absolutely awful. (Hard) Usually highly rate this place, but had to throw half my supper away last night, will be awhile before I’m back I’m afraid.

Kids portions of scampi n fries outstanding.. My daughter said she could taste the ocean off the scampi, the wee darling.

My go-to place for fish n chips, very tasty, decent wait times, reasonable prices

Great food, specially the Fish and Chips and the Chicken. Prices are good for the quality of the food. I come here at least once every two weeks and will keep coming as long as the great quality remains constant.

Tastes good..you don't get that bleh feeling after eating like you do with most chippers in Aberdeen. They must use better oil to fry with. Portions are decent...the chicken fillets supper is an absolute feast and enjoyed.the extra spice I could have added on. Chips were good too. I won't go to any other chipper from now.Ashvale have nothing on these guys. Recommend.

This has to be the best fish & chips in Aberdeen - everything we had was delicious, including the white pudding, fish cakes and chicken nuggets / burger. All fresh and crispy, definitely recommend!

Normally 5 stars, last night the haddock was awesome but the chips were awful. Disappointing as chips are normally lovely. Small crispy, like cooked twice or left to sit a while. They were cold and fish hot. :(

Normally an easy 5 stars. Last night however, the chips which I look forward to just as much as the fish, were very disappointing. Shrivelled up. Whether they had sat a while I don't know. I've only encountered this one other time since they opened. Hopefully just a blip and I can enjoy their fabulous chips with a crisp edge once more.

Raw chipsteak supper. Half way through it and realised totally uncooked. Decided to take it back and she says to me, 81 degrees and they can be pink. PINK, that was still in the park eating grass. Hopefully no food poisoning. Clearly training needed. Did get an apology and my money back for the chipsteak only believe it or not. Now i have been to this chipper under previous name and possibly ownership many times and never had a problem. The chipper does get good reviews and maybe my experience was hopefully a one off. I gave an extra star for the chips and pickled onions because they were good. You Decide, you can see the outline where it's started to cook.

Last time I was in here, I became ill. That was four years ago. Due to good reviews of late, I called in this afternoon. Really pleasant staff and without doubt, the best fish supper I have ever had. Phoned through order and picked up as required. Three meals, one panko chicken fillets, one standard panko fish and chips and scampi supper with sides of onion rings, mushy peas and coleslaw. Fantastic taste and very well done. Will be back. As others have said great chipper. Well done

We travel half the length of the City to visit Fish n Hook because the food is always first class. Friendly helpful staff aswell and the specials are the work of a culinary genius. Try it 👍🏼

This chip shop is the best it's been in years. Very clean shop with lovely smart staff. Excellent local fish. We had fish and chips and black pudding which were delicious and very well cooked.

Some of the best Fish and Chips I have ever tasted. So this is my first time at Fish N Hook and I am a fascist when it comes to good fish and chips. I had a large haddock supper.... price was high end of the scale so I am being quite picky. Fish: perfectly cooked, flaky and too big to fit in the box. The fish itself was top end and tasty. Enough even to accidentally feed a seagull on the way home. Fish Batter: was lovely, light and crisp on the outside... more like a tempura. Inside it was a little claggy and not ideal, perhaps layered on a little thick. This was pretty much the only weak point and is easy to fix and will vary from order to order. Hopefully my next will be better. Chips: the best I have ever had from a chipper. Seriously... chips are the hardest thing to get perfect, but they nailed it. Crispy, fluffy inside and a good chunk of little crispy bits too. This is a 5 star place, marked down to 4 stars as the batter was not perfect and the price was a bit high. I wish I could provide 4.5 as a whole star off is tough for a minor thing.

Best fish and chips I've had in Aberdeen. Price was more than decent. We had the panko haddock with chips for around £9. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered at the door, so delivery was quick and customer service impeccable. The meal itself was very hearty, and I don't get to say this very often, but I couldn't even finish it up in one go. If you haven't done so already, go check them out ASAP!

I’ve had a few fish suppers from here recently and back when the pubs were still open, up the road at the Queen Vic lots of people would be speaking very highly of the Fish n Hook chipper. Every time I’ve been the food has been delicious, very fairly priced and the portion sizes are absolutely massive. In my opinion it could be the best chipper in Aberdeen! Friendly staff too. Would highly recommend, 5/5 stars :)

Best fish and chips in Aberdeen We used to venture over to Holborn street for a couple of fish and chips places there. But this is hands down the best in Aberdeen. The fish is fresh and batter crispy. The chips are spot on, well fried. We had a black pudding with the last meal and the batter was crispy and light. Love this place. 😍

Busy Friday night and the shop is really well organised. The fish was perfectly cooked, but the chips were slightly underdone. The order was taken while I waited and was ready as I reached the counter. Staff are friendly and efficient. Definitely will visit again soon. There is the usual range of items and social distancing is easily followed.

Simply the best we have ever had... and we've been on the planet a long time! 2 x Standard Haddock (one with chips) .. White Pudding (OMG) and Stornoway Black Pudding! Someone there truly knows what they're doing. And my wife was very impressed with the high levels of hygiene & Covid19 measures being used. We'll be back.

This is THE BEST fish and chips I’ve had in agessss. The fish is from Granite City Fish, a fresh fish monger institution in Aberdeen and the quality shows. Everything was cooked to perfection with hardly any grease - how?? Witchcraft. This location has had a few names over the years and last time I had something from here it was Mr Chips and it was so disappointing I swore off it for life. Fish N Hook is like night and day in how good it was, I’m re-converted 😂
