Fish House in Newham

Terrible portion sizes. Paid for a large cod and child and then cod was comprised of 1/3 of a typical cod fish & chip serving.

This restaurant does the usual fish and chips however it also has an interesting range of other fish dishes on its menu. I had a delicious fish tacos. The service was very good too. It's only about five minutes or so from the main drag that is Westfield shopping centre but a bit of a hidden gem. It's worth seeking out if you appreciate good quality fish dishes.

We visited for takeaway fish and chips. Fish was freshly cooked. Curry sauce was incredible! Mushy peas were good. Service was friendly and efficient. Battered sausage was delicious. Will definitely return. It’s a good local chip shop.

Really enjoyed the several fish dishes. We shared some great starters. And we loved the main courses, fish risotto and grilled sea bream, as well.

This is my first and what will be my only visit. I know price does not always mean high quality but when you pay nearly £20 for fish and chips, there’s an assumption made that it should be at least to the standard of a typical fish and chip shop which sadly was not the case here. The fish was ok, the batter slightly greasy but I can’t find too much fault with it but in contrast the chips were some of the worst I’ve ever eaten. They were cold, hard and kinda flavourless. I don’t think I’ve ever left a chip in my life but I left 1/2 of the very small portion, and the first half was forced down. My girlfriend enjoyed her salmon dish (The Healthy One) but said it was definitely not worth the money. We bought my daughter chicken nuggets and chips at a cost of £7.50 and they were not nice (she left 2 of the 4) and the chips were equally as disgusting as mine and she left almost all of them. Our starter was nice but again, very pricey for what it was. Our bill came to £76 and honestly i would have been disappointed if the bill was half that. Genuinely one of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever eaten. I’d avoid this place if you read this.

It was my first time trying their cod and chips, plus their curry sauce - and I LOVED it. The restaurant was very busy, and the employees all worked together to get all of the orders out on time. At the end I spoke to a lady, I think she had red-hair, glasses, perhaps she was the manager. We got talking about their delicious home-made curry-sauce. And so she suggested that I try their aioli sauce next time I eat there. She was very friendly. Well done to all the team-members and chefs! Until next time.

Every Saturday evening I buy takeaway haddock, chips and mushy peas. The fillited fish is excellent and the mushy peas the best I have had from a fish and chip shop. Unfortunately, Fish House lets itself down with the inconsistent quality of its chips. This evening, 21 August, the chips were again chewy and not very hot. I sent a private email about this this inconsitency a month ago. It's disappointing that the email has been ignored. Hence this public comment.

As someone from Scarborough living in London, this place has provided me with my quality fish and chip fix throughout lockdown! Would recommend the fish tacos as well as the classic haddock and chips.

We have been takeaway regulars here throughout lockdown. The food is always good and the staff are so friendly. We recently popped in for lunch and sat outside. The service was excellent. Can recommend the fish tacos!

Don't waste your time or money coming here. If you find yourself strolling around Olympic Park, give this place a hard miss. From fighting staff to greasy and soggy food, to overpriced wine, there is really nothing redeeming about this place. We decided to pop in for a quick bite to eat one evening after passing by whilst out walking. My friends and I decided to order a bottle of wine that was horrendously overpriced and mediocre at best. Pushing this aside we ordered a few different things off the menu to share. In terms of food, the halloumi we ordered was greasy on the outside and like chewing on a rubber tire on the inside. Not impressed. To top this all off when one of our friends went inside to pay they were horrified to be caught in the crossfires of a staff screaming match. What a nightmare! Don't come here unless you want a drama filled evening with laclustre food and watery wine.

Chaotic farce to be avoided due to appalling service/staff. We booked a table for four and were told by three different members of staff we could come in with our adorable dog (one on the phone and two on arrival). One member of staff even came outside to check the dog was small enough and suitable. The member of staff said the petite Labrador was fine and we were asked to continue to wait outside while they got the tables ready as they wanted to put us by the window so as to be out of the way. We were warned we might need to wait a little while as they needed a table to be vacated. After 20 minutes (in the rain!) a different member of staff came out and told us that actually we could not be accommodated and they in fact did not allow dogs. While the original Fish House is great and has lovely staff this new franchise is run by incompetent fools and should be avoided.

We had been to this restaurant previously and it was a huge disappointment. However we were nearby and thought we will give this place one more chance since the last time was a while back. Unfortunately i have to say we were dissapointed yet again. The food was just really horrible. Its not worth the price. Keep away

I am resident of the village and visits often. for all my visits since fish house has been established the customer service is oustanding from all staff . Fish always fresh , cleanliness is perfect ! If you looking for a best place in london then head here for authentic British fish and chips set in the beautiful surrounding of the olympic Park , in the heart of east village. Great food! The fish is pretty decent, the chips usually aren't cooked well enough for what you want from a fish and chip shop. It is the nearest fish and chip shop so we go purely because it is close. If the prices weren't so exorbitant we would probably go more often but perhaps they are thinking of our health in their pricing...The portions are generous. Eat-in the restaurant is a nice space.
