Firehouse Restaurant & Forge Motel in Carmarthenshire

Good food, rapid service, value for money. The place looks shut, there's no menu outside and inside I'm greeted by 4 staff, all in black and no other customers. For a second I thought I'd chosen a mafia front restaurant (again) but, no, just the time of day and the place soon filled up. Within its class, this is an excellent place to pause on the long journey between home and western Pembrokeshire - I'll be back

Table was sticky only gave one menu for our table I had steak that was chewy I had salad and chips but the chips were put on top of the lettus so that went limp the chips seemed to be the end of the packet my husband had garlic potatoes but was smothered in cheese making it quite sickly

Called in by chance on way to ferry what a find! Lovely friendly smiling welcome, and fabulous dinner. Best fish and chips, crispiest batter and succulent meaty fish. Very generous portions, sadly too generous to enable a sample of the yummy sounding ginger cake. Oh and he devoured the ribs too. 😋

Only stopped for a comfort break and breakfast which was amazing.

Stayed here on Saturday night with my husband and our toddler. We moved rooms a few times. Room 5 had ants nesting in the bathroom and the tiles around the bottom of the shower didn’t look great (see photos). Room 7 smelled of smoke. Room 10 was great! Cannot fault the staff. They were lovely and very apologetic. Complimentary bottled water and hot drinks on offer in the rooms were very much appreciated. The small pool was very warm - perfect for our toddler. Couldn’t work out how to switch the sauna on but it looked very inviting. Showers and changing areas for the pool were great. We had dinner in the restaurant. It was good, standard pub grub. Again, the staff were fabulous. The petrol station next door currently has 20% off vouchers for the restaurant valid until 30 June 2024 at the counter.

Didn’t stay but stopped for large reasonably priced meals

11 of us stopped here on our way to a rally in Builth Wells & also on the way back to Ireland. The Forge was a lovely friendly place with superb food. Lovely friendly lady in charge of restaurant. We will always call in here on our motorbike trips to Wales. Best wishes from the 11 Irish bikers.

Stayed here for five days, clean and functional rooms, nice to get clean towels every day (take note Premier Inn). Food, and service good, massive portions, good value for money. The only negative thing to say is the whole site could do with an update. Definitely wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Very nice full English, nice & hot but waitress forgot our toast. Place a little dull & dark & in need of brightening up. The 1960s lamps above the tables need changing as my husband & I both hit our heads. Looks a lot like an old Berni Inn. Plenty of parking & good loos.

Stopped off here for dinner on way to our lodge. Staff were lovely and friendly, super helpful. Food was beautiful, restaurant was really lovely. Would recommend

Looks more like an old Café!! Limited, but expensive menu!! Didn't stay to eat!

Mid week early January and it was one of the few places that was open lunchtime. The place looks unloved with paint peeling on the windows, the place was clean, the staff were ok though towards the end of the meal got the impression they wanted us to go despite being the only folk there. The food? Really nothing to write home about , the meat in the pie was nice, the puff pastry just something baked in the oven seperately, we even got charged for a glass of water - exceedngly average

Great pit stop, lovely breakfast, should of held back the tea till breakfast was ready.

Sunday carvery here is excellent and nothing too much trouble for the staff

We had a Christmas party this evening,great location and food that everyone enjoyed.the staff were really helpful andid a great job helping the evening to go without a hitch,would recommend to anyone as a great venue.

We were a party of 7 adults. Food was really good and plentiful. Staff and service excellent. Will be going again soon.

Great place great food very friendly

We called here on Sunday as we could see a banner outside advertising a Sunday Carvery. Book or just pop in. Great we thought. On approaching the dinning room, a waitress asked if she could help us. We asked for a table for two. The waitress informed us that as we hadn't booked she didn't 'have enough food to feed us'. It was 2.45pm and the carvery seemed to have plenty of food available. The restaurant only had a few people eating there. Obviously our custom wasn't required and we had to walk away. We will not be calling again. We drove to The Savoy near St Clears where we received a wonderful welcome and a delicious Sunday lunch.

We went for a Sunday lunch. Very nice meal, service very friendly, But, felt pushed to eat and move because they had a lot of people coming in. Won't be back. Very lovely place, lovely people, but felt awkward taking our time to eat and drink.

Went for Sunday roast. Pretty disappointed. Meat was pre carved before being plated so was rather dry upon eating. Lumpy mash which tasted like Instant mash. Cannot compliment the service however, very swift and organised. I didn't book but based on how busy it was I recommend booking ahead.

The staff and service was first class. The food itself seemed as though it was made from cheap ingredients. For example.. the pork/beef mince in the lasagne was like the frozen supermarket 'own brand' type. Goes mushy when cooked. I can see the reviews for a Sunday carvery are good and in all honesty the photo's of the food make it look delicious, so I may go back at some point but not for the main menu Thank you for your response. We sent the naan bread back as we could've used it as a frisbee lol. The staff were very apologetic ... We were glad there was a steak knife on the same plate as the garlic bread, as my sister needed it to cut into her battered fish. So no, we didn't bring it to the attention of the management, but the staff were made aware and couldn't apologise anymore than they already did 😀

Stopped off here with my mum after a long drive from London back to Pembs. We each had the 10oz steak and it was bloody lovely! Mum ate the lot and declared it to be the best meal she’d had for eons. Great work Firehouse! 👏🏻Highly recommend, whether it’s a drop in on the way home/through Pembs, or to visit it as a restaurant in its own right (i heard the Sunday carvery is to die for! 🤤. Worth the trip and great value to boot. 💯👌🏻

Very nice food at a sensible price. We had food from the lighter meals range and they were very filling. I had a vegetarian ploughmans and it was all fresh and very tasty. Definitely recommended!

Just had Sunday carvery. It was excellent. All home cooked food and the cauliflower cheese was exceptional. Can't fault it.

Stopped for breakfast made to feel very welcome with the dog food was excellent had just finished serving breakfast but made us one anyway everything freshly cooked and very tasty highly recommended 😋

Ok, so this was actually a lot better than I expected...... I was hesitant when I read through the reviews a couple of days before I stayed here this weekend. Some mentioned food poisoning, whilst others mentioned rude staff and dated rooms. However, check-in was good (the staff were very friendly and welcoming) and the rooms were clean and smell free. I've stayed in many hotels before, ranging from 5 stars to 3 stars, and this is perfectly adequate for the rating. Just remember this is a MOTEL, so it's not your typical chain! On site, there are a variety of different rooms, from Family to Twin to Doubles. There is a bar and restaurant area, and a small swimming pool (which does actually look a lot more inviting than in the pictures). It does feel like you are walking back in time when in your room and in the bar area/restaurant/pool (it's extremely 80s), but it's clean and tidy at the end of the day. I would like to mention that the 'Fitness Suite' is not a fitness suite...... it's a treadmill and a rowing machine, so don't be tempted by this! Cooked breakfasts are now served 7 days a week, and my family who were also staying mentioned that the cooked breakfasts were fine for the price (nothing special, but edible)! So overall, don't go in with super high expectations of white walls, modern decor and a chain hotel standard..... it's an independent Motel at the end of the day, and from what I've seen and experienced, it is good value for money, and a perfectly pleasant place to stay.

Didn't have high expectations of the restaurant, but still left bitterly disappointed. The chicken was overcooked, dry, stale and very overpriced. The fish finger from the light bites menu looked anaemic, were soggy, and lacked flavour. The gammon was the best meal, but there was still much to be desired. The table was very stick and the pint glasses dirty. The service was also lacklustre with most staff not showing an inkling of wanting to be there. Will never return.

I don't normally leave a review until after I've checked out but this place is fantastic, more places are needed like this in the UK. Bedrooms with all you'd expect, a Petrol Station on-site, a restaurant with fantastic food and they have an indoor swimming pool to boot, unbelievable! #TourCoachDriver
