Was first time in a while I have had fish and chips was well cooked and very hot but had to wait quite a long time and was quite crowded will try again when its quieter

Visited Crisp and Fry in Pontyates under new management. Fabulous meal chips were tasty, fresh and thickly cut. Seating area was clean and comfortable. Customer service was quick, pleasant, polite and refreshing. And served Heinz ketchup which is the best. 10/10 for this restaurant

Stumbled across this chippy on my way to west wales today . WOW the food was very good one of the best chip shops I’ve ever had . Fresh soft bread roll with crispy chips and light crispy battered sausage. Unfortunately i don’t pass this way often but if i do i will definitely call in . Shame you had no hot chocolate but the latte was good 5 stars cant fault you .

Well Catrin (sorry if wrong spelling) is amazing and always treats us with respect and always makes sure our Gluten Free food is cooked to perfection -it is very bad news for us the shop closing as in our opinion the service and food was always good - gutted they've closed

Just want to say that I went here tonight and have to say the blonde girl serving is always really pleasant. Not just with myself but with others. She always seems she can be sociable but puts her work first. It will be a loss if she leaves, as everyone seems to get on with her.

Went in for some food granted it was 20mins before closing time, service was like a frosty reception, portion size is OK however £4.20 for a chicken burger was shocking see picture Fish and chips were great, lovely batter

Haven’t been to this chippy for ages due to several bad experiences with inedible chips. Had to give it another chance tonight as the chippy in pontyberem was shut. I’d hoped for an improvement, but there was none. It never starts well when you open the packet and one of your children asks why are the chips green? And your other child refuses to eat the ‘grey’ chips. Disgusting. We threw the whole lot and had cereal instead. I truly don’t understand a chippy that can’t make at least edible chips. I really don’t know where they get their potatoes from or how many times they cook the chips before serving them.

Came here as I was in the area at lunch time. I ordered kebab meat and chips just for myself and it came to over £11 ... truly massively over inflated price for substandard food. This is by far the most expensive fish a chip shop I have ever been in. There are far better places out there for a third of the price.

Called in for a senior meal and two large sausage in batter. The chips were mainly small bits and the batter on the fish and sausages was over cooked and to top it all barely warm including the mushy peas. Overall not impressed and would make me think twice about coming again.

** UPDATE ** I have since reached out via email like advised below in owners comment and like my comments…..poor customer service skills!! No reply and that’s over a week ago!! Shows that the owner is like the staff so clearly that’s how they want it to be. Title: Disappointing Chip Shop Experience I recently visited a chip shop with high hopes for a satisfying meal, but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Here's a rundown of the disappointing aspects that stood out during my visit. 1. Quality of the Chips: The most crucial element of any chip shop meal, the chips, were a major letdown. They were limp, soggy, and lacked the desired crispiness. It seemed like they were either undercooked or reheated, resulting in a subpar texture and taste. 2. Greasy and Overcooked Fish: The highlight of a chip shop meal should be the fish, but what I received was far from satisfactory. The fish was overcooked, dry, and excessively greasy. Very disappointed fish and chips well over cooked which meant the food was hard and didn't look like oil was very fresh

Ordered a bocs bwyd left the chippy no cheese on top went back in to be told there was no cheese in the chippy could have been told that before leaving got home to eat the food not sure what it taste like as me and the kids can’t eat it they have drowned it in so much salt it’s not eatable

After a long wait what a disappointment. Beautiful big piece of cod ruined by the cooking. The batter was a dark brown, way overcooked with the flesh tasteless and stringy. What a disappointment, this has happened before so we will not use this chippy again. So disappointing🤨

Great food, great prices, quick service

Typically it's hit and miss, very good or not. When it's busy service is very slow and the standard seems to fall and the food is mediocre. One day I waited around 20 minutes to be served and another 10 to 15 to actually get the food. In saying that though, if you catch them where there is no queue then they are literally the best chips you can eat and the staff sometimes on a good day have a chat and are happy.

My sister and I popped into Crisp & Fry, as we were hungry. The rissoles were absolutely scrumptious, well worth a try if your passing. So next time we are in Pontyates it's rissole time.

Have always enjoyed this chippy over my local in crosshands. But unfortunately tonight's was disappointing. Fish was okay but the chips were nowhere near ready, if you can tell by the photos it was like eating raw potatoes. Hopefully it will be better next time otherwise that's 2 crisp and frys I won't be going to.

Huge portions could have shared the fish & chips. Fish very white, lightly battered, delicious. Freshly cooked whilst we waited. Assistants friendly & polite.Would certainly visit again.

Fish was so thin all that was tasted was the batter. The chips were not golden as the pictures on the wall show so were under fried.

Not always does this chippy have tasty tasting chips, but the last couple of times they have improved! The addition of fried cockles to the menu, Is amazing.

Started out great when first opened, tonight however despite telling the girls I had a fair journey home, I had 1 bit of paper wrapped around my "dinner" I advised this would lead to me having cold food but they assured me the food would remain hot. It didn't!! No Salt and Vinegar on food. Very poor attitude all round, my impression was that the girls just didn't want to be there and didn't care. Real shame as to begin with the food was super, well presented and certainly used to be one of the best in the area. Disappointed

What a lovely surprise! I’ve not eaten fish and chips for about 5 years as the last lot I had were so soggy and tasteless. Well what a surprise! We really fancied them last night and we weren’t disappointed. Crisp chips and crispy, tasty batter on the fish……not a sign of sogginess anywhere. Served by the lovely Rebecca, had fish chips and Irish curry sauce the fish and chips was the best I've had in a long long time , if you're in the area I recommend visiting crisp & fry you won't be disappointed 😋

We came to Wales to stay at carmarthen Bay and see friends around Ponthenri and Pontyates, this has got to be the best tasting chips I have had for years. The staff was amazing wanted to bring home Rissoles as can get them in England and the lovely staff allowed me to buy 8. Great place to eat in too. Not overly priced. Best chip shop hands down 👍

What a great chip shop! Popped in for traditional fish and chips and they were delicious. The only downside is this chip shop is not nearer my house! Lovely food and friendly staff.

A blonde lady with two children down a country lane in Wales directed us to this fantastic Chippy many thanks to that lady as we really enjoyed our food and the staff were very friendly too....

Had takeaway yesterday and the usual good portions, but unfortunately, the food was barely warm (the same happened the week before). I thought maybe I was going at the 'wrong time' but surely the food should be hot at all times! I will try again next week!!
