Filishack in Southwark

I’m vegan and normally don’t like tofu, but I thought let me try it to add some extra protein and it was really delicious, the only thing I’m upset about is that today is Sunday and I can’t buy it again haha. Looking forward to buying it once more in the week.

This is a facebook review I wrote years ago when I first tried these guys, things (incl price) have changed since then but here's my initial solid 5⭐️ review... "So there's this "Filipino" street food shop in Peckham that sells the WICKEDEST food. It's literally orgasmic. Men and women have described it as such. They used to be a street food vendor and you'd see queues for days - but I didn't try their food until they acquired premises after lockdown. The food is SO nice I wondered how to create the same myself 4 takeaways in..... I get the grilled chicken marinated in lemongrass, ginger, vinegar and calamansi, then chopped into pieces to give every available bit of surface area a blackened char I created my own version today using prawns, avocados, white rice wine vinegar and taste the difference pasta additions and LET ME TELL YOU 🥰 DET 🥰 I ate the whole pack of prawns in one sitting. I digress. Back to business..... Filishak - Owned by Peckham boys Jonathan and Justice Cacho, who grew up on the “Yellow Brick”. Go try it only £3.50 (now £5) for a lunch box (now called small, avail throughout the say not just lunch). MAKE SURE YOU Get ALL the sauces and EVERYTHING in the salad selection. Looks messy but it's like nothing I've tasted before. Orgasmic. 2025 NOW open on Saturdays. Woop woop The food is still TOP TOP TOP. The only thing I constantly have to remind staff (when the younger lot are there not the owners or father), is that Rice goes cold QUICK so leaving the rice cooker/pot lid open or leaving rice in container whilst waiting for chicken to cook or be dished out, means the rice is COLD when we get home to eat. That's the only gripe. So keep a look out for who is serving and how long they keep the rice aired out, a lid is necessary! Other than that, enjoy your food. You'll LOVE it✨️ 💯🫡 I always get the Grilled Chicken Rice box meal (pictured)

Someone working there is clearly not focused. I ordered a go large and a rio can drink. the drink the never came, the box was a small portion and was extremely cold. The rice was clumped together and felt like eating rocks. I’m usually of a fan of filishack but the fact there’s no contact information either for me to enquire about it shows that clearly it’s not a serious enough business. I’m really disappointed.

All I have to say is the food is plane no taste the sauce plain no taste try to give me garlic sauce of the food it didn't even taste like garlic sauce not one hint of garlic in there. What is this place they need a lot to know about food

Best chicken and rice in London. Go all the way from east London to Peckham just for this.

Foo was cold! They have made the portion sizes smaller & there’s barely any salad. Not impressed.

I know it gets busy at filly and i personally love the food, now however i pay for a large meal and ask for the all sauce on the menu this guy on till just didn’t read the order and just put the avocado on it and passed it on. Also which I ended up not enjoying the my food to the fullest but in all great food and great service. And the black lady at the counter serving she is amazing and she should keep it up.

This food is incredible, would definitely order again. Staff are very lovely and helpful in giving advice on what to order. So glad I found this gem in Peckham. Highly recommend. 😁😁

We came here for some Filipino taste. The food was good but it wasn't that Filipino. The Adobo rice did not taste like adobo and it's spicy. The inasal chicken burrito was ok but it was just another chicken wrap. The fried courgette was tasty but it's just a fried dish. There's no indoor seating area, only two small tables outside.

The service is great and very helpful staff, always ready to accommodate me ( serving my food how I prefer). The food is really nice too. But since COVID they've made a lot of cut backs, the quality isn't the same anymore. I won't be going back here ever.

I asked for a meal when collecting I was told that they put extra sauce. I thought nothing of it. When I got home it had so much sauce it was as if they made a mistake and instead of serving a proper order just gave it to me anyway. I couldn't eat a thing there was so much sauce it made me sick. I am furious

This is grill chicken small size if anyone wants to waste money ;) The amount of chicken they give is a joke.

Lovely place to eat and come back many times to eat. Recommend the burrito with grilled chicken and salad. Yum!

Delicious and popular! Came here for the adobo burrito but it was sold out. Got the chicken inasal burrito instead and it still hit the spot. They have a couple of small tables if you can’t wait to eat your order, but they are predominantly take out. Hoping they open a sit-down restaurant and expand their Fil-Mex menu (I love Fil-Mex).

So sad to say but the food standard here seems to be slipping more and more into just being another amazing concept in Peckham that’s lost it’s soul and flavour like a few other Peckham staples, The salad today has a weird chemically taste and residue that turned your chips or rice inedible and soggy, Lately the rice is stodgy and barely tastes of garlic any more , Chicken barely tastes like it used to its either over cooked and you don’t get enough of it or it is undercooked soft and chewy ,There also seems to be a stock problem most days I live close to it and I’m still yet to try the adobo beef , Truly is such a shame hope it sorts itself out as it really was one of the best in Peckham.

Oh this was so delicious! No wonder they have queues around the block (although it was unusually quieter when I visited today). My first visit, but I’ll definitely be back, good price, service was quick and friendly plus the food tastes fantastic. I had a Beef Adobo medium ricebox with salad, the menu is simple but effective and easy to navigate. My ricebox was so good I didn’t want it to end! I can’t wait to return and try other combinations too, thank you.

This used to be one of my favourite places to eat but it's being let down by their falling standards. The food is delicious but there's a 50/50 chance of it being cold or the wrong order or poorly made etc. It's a shame because the food is great but as they've become more popular they've let the standards slip completely. This is the second time this month I've had to throw the food in the bin. Please please please sort it out because when it's good, it's good but it's not worth the gamble anymore. The odds are against the customer at this point.

My absolute favourite always great food and excellent value for money. So happy they now have a branch in elephant and castle and everything tastes just as good the quality and standards are the same which just makes me sooooo happpyyyyyyy 😁.

I ordered the fries and chicken inasal to takeaway, and was disappointed upon opening and looking at the food received... Literally 3/4 of it was salad, barely any fries and chicken... Will not be ordering from here again.

Great service and good food. Super busy at lunch time with school kids. Super value for money. Worth the wait

I love this food. Since we moved out of Peckham, haven’t had it but still think about it often and realized today it delivers to us. We are so excited and ordered it tonight. Love love the food.

A couple years ago i gave Filishack 5 stars and said it was some of the best chicken i had tasted in London. I must say the quality has really dropped first since the stall closed and the shop opened, but again since ive stopped seeing the brothers around the past few months, the love for the food isnt there and it shows. The chicken doesnt taste as well seasoned as it used to be, the rice definitely isn’t. Even down to the staff in the shop not chopping up the chicken properly into bite size pieces just out of pure laziness. Anyways i hope you guys see this and intervene because you will unfortunately lose long standing customers!

for it to be an authentic filipino restaurant, the sauce options need to include toyo (soy sauce), suka (vinegar) even better if it was spicy!, sliced lemon to squeeze into the soy sauce for that beautiful acidity and zest! Also, I asked for utensils and was only given a fork - a filipino eats rice and inasal better with a spoon you know! Not worthy for the price honestly and lacks the real taste of chicken inasal.

Really dissapointed with the quality of Fillishack now. Food Used to taste really flavourful with great portions when it was just the two brothers in the truck. Not sure if it’s because they’ve hired staff now that probably have no clue how to cook the food, it just tastes horrible now with no flavour. Stodgy or hard rice just really dissapointing I no longer eat here as it’s not the same.

There is NO Filipino Street Food about the menu at all. The chicken inasal is adulterated.

Used to be a good meal in the past - good quantity, flavour and price. I was happy that Filishack opened a shop, however, the three main points are going downhill and disappointing. The rice used to be fragrant, garlicky with good amount of tender chicken. They implement the pricing according to sizes. Fair enough but the portions are getting smaller.

Rice itself is delicious- portion is the same for 3 sizes but the amount of meat differs.Had a small but got lots of rice.. 08-07-2022- UPDATED REVIEW After recommending this place to a friend, I decided to visit and was pleased to see some improvements, particularly the installation of a self-service machine. It was a wonderful addition that made the ordering process quick and efficient. I ordered a large chicken inasal with rice, hoping for a delicious meal. Unfortunately, upon taking the first bite, I noticed that the rice was dry and lacking in flavor. Concerned about the quality, I politely informed the waitress about the issue. However, her response was quite cold and dismissive. She insisted that nothing had changed with the rice, claiming it was still garlicky and buttery, which was clearly untrue. To my disappointment, my request to swap the rice with chips was rejected, further highlighting the lack of consideration for customer service. It appears that both the food quality and customer satisfaction are no longer a priority for this establishment. It's disheartening to see such a decline in what was once a treasured neighborhood food truck. Based on this experience, I have made the decision not to return to this place.

The food wasn't really the best it's okay could be better it was nothing like the pictures. Need some improvements with the flavours and spices (the garlic rice was bland) The salad needs to be improved too big chunks would be better. I would recommend adding some more filipino streetfood on the menu.

10/10. Consistently fresh, tasty, quick and with good portions. You also have really friendly and fast staff who have to do deal with what is always a really busy shop (I hope you’re paying them right). Personal fav is the Chicken Insial rice box, all salad, all sauce with scotch bonnet and a Rio

Very bad customer service and I ask for all salad and they put chilly which I can't eat and I never ask that and they argue with you. I have been there for years since they had it on the Peckham square and this young Asia man is so rude and don't care for customers health. They had the music so loud that I we couldn't hear each other and that's was the problem of the confusion as well. These young people have respect for their elders and are so disrespectful and they don't care for the customers, when providing good service and healthy food. I won't be going back there again. I would warn you about them. I can't eat chilly and they argue about it. It's a food allergy and would burn my stomach and they refuse to change it. Don't go there.......

I've been going here for years; from when the brother duo had their food shack and now at their shop too. The food is delicious and full of flavour, I'd highly recommend their burrito wraps and filishack fries.

Tasty for a good price. Quality Filipino street food!

So, I used to come to this place 3/4 times a week because the food is delicious and the service and choice or options for what you want on your food is excellent. However, as of late, the portions are getting smaller and more stingy. Everything is costing more and it is becoming less and less worth it, so I won't be coming for a while because it just seems to be getting worse and worse value for money.

Food is good, however online orders always come very slow and cold even though i’m just two roads away. I recommend just ordering in store

I’ve been to the Philippines exactly once for island hopping, where I fell in love with inasal. Today, I re-discovered the inasal feeling thanks to Filishack! Salamat for this delicious chicken!

I absolutely love this place, the food is just amazing and the service is friendly and quick. They remember from previous orders which options you like. I only get to go here when I am at work (which hasn't been often lately due to covid) but it's something to look forward to as part of the day.

The second time I’ve had chicken and rice from here and it was exceptional, so tasty. Takes me back to the delicious food I ate while visiting The Philippines ❤️❤️

Order vegan salad bowl only to watch staff use the same hand they used to put beef into another bowl- beef all over his hand, to make my vegan bowl. Such a shame as I used to love there.

Delicious! Food always tastes fresh and tasty. The owners and staff are always so lovely and friendly. Don't be distraught by the queue out the door, it's well worth a stop! The chicken and beef are both amazing and I always struggle to decide if I want it as a burrito or a ricebox. It's all good! You won't be disappointed.

Delicious food and pretty affordable. The adobo chicken is a great shout and whether ordering a wrap or the rice bowls, you'll get a pretty healthy, filling takeaway. Good veggie options too !! Been back a few times and will be back again

Wow, what can I say!! This place is amazing. I went for a medium chicken rice box and it filled me up but how it tasted I could have had another medium. You guys need to brand yourself with the quality of your food and the service you provide is amazing. Anyone ever travel to Peckham has to try this place. Filishack… the name already sounds like a franchise and I need one local to where I live.

Serving was more rice than chicken. There were hairs on my order. Disappointed.

Polite staff. Clean working space - You see your food being made and how it is made. The menu is easy to understand and attention is paid when packaging and serving your food.👍🏾 However, there isn't enough seats to cater for those waiting for their food.

Ok so this food is decent, seriously if you want a change definitely worth a visit, small sit down inside so it's more suitable for takeaway, but the shop is modern and the staff are all friendly and bang on with the food orders, the meat is tender and everything has flavour. Prices are average £6‐10 quid depending on how big and how much you want to add on additional to your order. Definitely a gem in peckham, lunch or dinner its worth a shout

First time trying Filipino food and it was actually incredible! Such tasty flavours. I would really recommend getting a mixed meal because both meats were so tasty and with different flavours

Nicest guys. Unfortunately came off my bike just after getting my order and they rushed out to help me (genuinely would've laughed at myself, not not even a hint of a smirk from them). Gave me a fresh order and sent me on my way. Top notch grub to boot and great price, highly recommend

As a regular Fillishack van taster I was excited that they were opening an actual real life restaurant, well it's more of a takeaway place but it's a lot bigger than the van which means they can do more stuff, like slow cooked adobo beef shin and various other bits and pieces, like chips. I stuck with the grilled chicken and the flavours don't disappoint, they really don't, you really get that smokey grill flavour and the chicken itself has been marinated to oblivion which makes it so tender and flavourful. I will be back soon to devour the rest of the menu!

The best chicken wraps in London hands down! The boys are always friendly and remember you if you go back as well. Can't recommend them enough.
