This bakery is not what we remembered from pre-pandemic days. The sourdough is flat, and not very tasty any more. No idea what’s happened, but hope the lovely proprietors are all right. We made a special journey to get the best sourdough bread in Lancashire, and were disappointed by what was on sale, so sadly, I’m guessing we won’t be back again.😢

The amazing looking brownies / blondies in the window caught my attention! I came out with one of each and a pumpkin bread. It’s always such a joy to find places like this; quality artisan products and lovely friendly people. I’m only visiting the area but will be making another visit before I leave, probably earlier in the day when there’s hopefully more left!

Fantastic bakery. Today’s special Marmite and Cheese bread absolutely delicious. Bread from here is still warm as it seems fresh loaves are coming out of ovens all morning. Friendly, informative and pleasant colleagues help you make your choice.

Fantastic local bakery with super friendly staff willing to accommodate your needs. Your one stop bakery for every vegetarian. My favourite has to be their cauliflower, walnut and Stilton quiches all made on the premises.

Saw this on the way into Lancaster, nearby our Hotel. What a find and Sourdough bread, scones and pain chocolate to die for. Sadly all eaten now, a hidden gem and bread as it should be done. Best traditional Bakery I have come across in years and the smell of freshly baked bread. My first boomerang Bakery:))

I’d just travelled down from Edinburgh where we have wonderful bakeries. I was a bit starving, had a wedding to go to and suspected it may be a while until food. Passing Filberts, I saw artisanal loaves in the window, there was a remarkable smell coming out the door and I knew I had to get my lunch there. The people working in the back looked like the type of person I’d like to be....eco warriors covered in flour, all busying themselves around baking tasks. There were pasties in the warmer, cakes n loaves in the window. I chose a Chelsea bun and a cheese n onion pasty, had a nice natter with the lovely lady behind the counter n headed off to my hotel to get stuck in. The pastie was perfection....short pastry, crispy but far from dry, caramelised onions....sweet and soft, then a well seasoned cheese mix. All perfectly seasoned. It was utterly delicious and the best I’ve ever eaten....if a Greggs pastie is a Cream Egg...Filberts had hit Faberge Egg exquisiteness level. My Chelsea bun was a little small....but it didn’t eat that way. It was beautifully spiced, glazed to give it a sweet crunchy texture and had enough fruit in it to sink a battleship. Simply amazing. I went in the next day too....n bought a spiced fruit loaf to take home and a scone to demolish on the spot. What’s clear is that everything is made with love, great quality ingredients and served by good people. Ignore the person that says it’s expensive. For what you get, its great value for money and well worth a visit.

What's more do you need to know? If you let them a day before they will make you Gluten Free Bread! But if you just want good old bread, buns, croissants...here they are! They also have a little stall on Lancasters Open Market Day on Wednesday's and Saturday's. Enjoy!

The bread there tastes amazing. You could eat a small loaf to yourself in a day easily. It's quite expensive so I couldn't afford to buy a loaf every day or every other day. I really enjoyed the sourdough when I tried it, but it's mostly sold out when I get there nowadays! The other bread I've had there is good too. The slice of peanut blondie I got there was a bit pricey (£2) and it was really greasy. I find a lot of vegan recipes tell you to add too much oil and you can safely half the amount of oil you add to your cakes and it will still be too greasy! So if anyone who works there reads this, try adding less oil to your cakes! Overall the flavour was good though. I'd give it a 4/5! Smells lovely!

We were walking past on the opposite side of the road and could smell the delicious aroma coming from this bakery. The bread is fresh and varied. Rye, sunflower, sourdough etc. They also make wonderful cinnamon buns. This is proper bakery bread so £2:00 for a loaf is what you can expect to pay but it’s a doughy heaven.

Local healthy food, done properly. If only there were more businesses like this and less soulless super businesses making fast food style bread. Just wish the boss wasn’t a communist lol

Beautiful, tasty...Bread passion from the staff...Slow fermented artisan breads - surprising specials, sourdoughs, scones, viennoiserie...it's a pleasure to visit... however...not too good if your're an early riser...opens at 11am...also you have to go to Greenhalgh's on a Monday for some decent bread!!! The serving lady is a real character, but this is a great enthusiastic shop...

We visited this bakery last Friday as we were in Lancaster for the day, I love to buy organic and local produce and walking past this bakery enticed me in. It was great to see them making the bread and everyone was so friendly. The range of breads was amazing and the smell in the shop was wonderful. I appreciate the last reviewers comment on the bread being expensive but what do you expect when you are getting the best of ingredients. It is so different from shop bought bread that is full of additives and completely tasteless. This bread is so good we nearly ate the whole loaf in one.... well done it’s a true gem in Lancaster.

Filberts Bakery makes ‘real’ bread on the premises, fresh every day using organic flour! From their ‘Overnight White’ to ‘Prune and Cardamom’ and roast potato bread the array of flavours is truly amazing. Some of my favourites include ‘Rye and Cracked Black Pepper’, ‘Walnut’ and ‘Multigrain’ which uses a mix of different flours. Often the bread is still warm from the ovens. You can’t get fresher than that!

The food used to be so good here. Not any longer. Small portions at a ridiculous price. Also very very small Sunday roast dinners. Staff nowhere near as nice as they used to be. Much better restaurant
