First time I've ever been to this charming little park...on a beautiful sunny morning I spotted this cafe & thought fabulous I'll have a coffee. As I entered I was putting my mask on and one of the strings broke the mask was still covering my face as I was holding it. To my SHOCK I look up & this man behind the counter (the owner I think) which was at least 2 metres away wearing a mask himself starts to SHOUT AT ME!! The way in which this man spoke to me was actually shocking I've been reading some of the other reviews an this seems to be a reoccurring theme. In this time when so many businesses are struggling we as consumers have a choice were we spend our money and many of us choose to try and support local businesses...this one WONT get my support..this man is a RUDE & is going the right way about ruining his own business

Really great food, excellent value and friendly service. Outdoor seating. The food is freshly prepared and tastes superb. A great cycling cafe as it’s on the main cycle route from New Cross/Deptford to the South Bank (you can cycle here from central London almost entirely on segregated cycleways or quiet routes). Will be a regular lunchtime destination around the year for us!

This little cafe / restaurant is the only place I’ve found in the UK to serve pasta that is up to a good Italian standard. The only difference is that the portions are bigger! I look forward to my next visit before I’ve finished eating.. On one occasion recently there were clearly a few staffing problems and there was a bit of chaos in the kitchen. But the guy who runs this place is lovely and the quality of food means I’ll forgive almost anything. Highly recommended.

Here I am on my mobility scooter driving in +30C on a Sunday late afternoon dying for a cold coke and there I found it. Was even allowed into the shadow of the restaurant on the ramp inside. The man saved me from thirst! I’m going to pass there again, it’s about one mile from where I live but it’s “the wrong direction” so I never saw it in the past 9 years I’ve been living here. I’ll be back soon.

After hearing so much about this celebrated cafe on the edge of Folkstone Gardens in Deptford, I decided to have breakfast there on Thursday 30th May. On approach the cafe looked modern and clean with its large glass windows and nice artwork on the walls. I was drawn to the framed review by #Jayraynor on the wall which lauded the cafe a year ago. Well Jay things have changed since you last visited I guess. Although the only people at in the cafe at the time, I noticed the greasy marks and fingerprints on all the tables thanks to the large windows reflecting light on to them. This should have rang alarm bells. We decided to have the full English breakfast at £8.50 with two cappuccinos coffees. The breakfast consisted of half a large tomato that was supposed to be grilled, to be honest it would been more at place in cold Ploughmans. The sausage was amemic in colour and not very appetising. The baked beans consisted of 12 beans on my plate, the Sourdough bread was tasteless and very tough. It was awful. The rest of the dish was mushrooms and bacon which came on a separate plate because the chef forgot to put it on my plate. When asked if everything was okay we complained about the quality of the cooking and it was obvious by our reaction that we were not at all happy. Yet we were still charged the full price. The Festa experience was more than disappointing, it was very, very poor. Definately not a party in the park...definately will not be back.

Had a great lunch sat out in the sunshine - on a February Saturday! Not so much a restaurant as an Italian bar/cafe located one the edge of playpark tucked away in a residential area. A limited menu of simple Italian fare, well cooked although perhaps little overpriced (£10 for a large dish of pasta with very straight forward homemade sauce). But very enjoyable. Other cooked dishes are available and they do good cakes. Licensed. Commendable that they were able to cope with an unpredictable London climate that drew out so many people for an Italian Saturday afternoon.

We’ve been at Festa sul Prato for the Valentine’s night, Which was not a good idea. The restaurant was totally overbooked with extra table added to the floor, our small one didnt evev had the chairs when we arrived. They gave us 2 outdoor very unconfortable and really cold metal chairs..what a start! The room was so Full that we were seating literally attached to other guest so zero privacy and athmosphere. We had to wait around 40 minutes fornour starters and we had our main at 10 pm ( table booked at 8.30 ) The couple next to us was in the same situation but they complained with the staff all the night which took away any romance left to the night. The weird thing was that at the other table part of the staff were having dinner instead to help to sort the situation out. Talking about food, nothing special, just ingredient put together on a plate. Never again

Found this place due to friend's recommend. Went for coffee (excellent) couple of times, finally had supper last night. Early in the day the owner Martin informed me that kitchen last orders are 9pm but if there was a party coming later he would stay open. He did indeed and we enjoyed a lovely supper with friends after a gallery opening nearby (no format). Olives and good wine plus most of us had excellent pasta. There is always a choice od veg or meat in the pasta menu. Two sizes of servings small is £6 large £10. The small was substantial and the large gigantic (no-one finished). My husband's beef tagliata (thinly sliced and flavoursome) was superb value. This restaurant deserves to do well and we recommend it for breakfast, lunch or supper. Jay Raynor agreed in the observer, hopefully this will bring customers in. There can not be much footfall in this location. Much better value and service than Marcella on Deptford High St. Possible to eat supper for twenty pounds even with wine. Friendly service, get down there. Lovely setting by folkestone Gardens and plenty of free on street parking.

Conjuring up the improbability of Festa sul Prato is easy. It is a former public toilet, on a skanky, bombsite park, in one of Deptford’s more obscure corners. From this owner Martin Hoenle (thats him pictured in the open kitchen) has crafted a delightful eatery serving generous portions of flavoursome, simple food at fair prices. I had the roast beetroot main dish, with mushroom, roast potato and broccoli. It was succulent juxtaposition of flavours and textures that kept me going for the rest of the day. There was enough of the delicious penne with pasta and sausage for my companion to share a fair bit of it with me. We arrived in the middle of a lunch time rush, that made for quite a long wait to order and eat. Once calm descended, owner Martin took time to pass among the tables chatting with diners. Two mains and two beers were £27.

This is a little gem of a restaurant tucked away in a corner of south east London near Hither Green station. The food is reasonably priced - and delicious - and the service impeccable. The ambience is just right. We were served by both a young man, who was polite and attentive, and Mimmo, who seemed to be both friendly maitre d' and chef,. Mimmo proudly told us about the high quality ingredients the restaurant uses, and the way the kitchen employs a traditional Neapolitan, slow fermentation process for their pizza dough. This means they can use less yeast (potentially making the pizza easier to digest). In any case, the pizzas and pasta and salads all went down a treat. He also joked with us about how his daughter, a pâtissière, insists he make all the choux pastry for the desserts from scratch, even though it means it coming in two hours early. (Our table duly wolfed down the chocolate desserts, which were pronounced wonderful.) He also offered tips on pasta and on the best flours for making pizza to a keen cook among us and was generally helpful and informative without being pushy. We all left saying we want to go back soon.

Busy, popular restaurant with great range of choices and particularly amazing breads. Had three courses, including meat and cheese platters for starters, which were lovely. Specials board a little difficult to read (light in way/behind me) - would be nice to have a printed version. Excellent mains, but disappointing tiramisu as sponge fingers were quite dry, which made them chewy - could have done with a Tia Maria poured over them. Overall a great, tasty meal with lovely staff giving a very warm welcome. Bit of a draughty as the front door is opened frequently for customers, and especially delivery bikes picking up collections, but no way round this really. Will be very happy to return again.
