Federal Cafe & Bar in Manchester

Wow! Put myself on the waiting list. Was told 20 minutes, was seated in 5. This place is packed from open to close. I tried to get on yesterday, but there was an hour wait. Had to have a little “hair of the dog” so I started with a Bloody Mary. It was outstanding. Savory, a little sweet, and spicy! Had a flat white with an extra shot, and eggs Benedict with bacon on sourdough toast. Look at the color of those yolks! Everything hit the spot. Excellent food and very friendly staff!

Good coffee. Great food. Nice ambiance. Was great. I enjoyed my sunday breakfast before traveling back home. I am half I did not make the mistake of just grab something at the hotel I was staying at. Instead I check on Trip Advisor, saw the place, kind of liked it, went there, have my breakfast. Was nice and chill. Great experience

Staff are so lovely, friendly and welcoming. Food was absolutely amazing! The special of the day was Pistachio Tiramisu French Toast and Pistachio is MY FAV 🤩

My son and I visited this wonderful place on a recent trip to Manchester, we were served by Sarah whose kindness and hospitality is second to none, she was attentive to everyone in the cafe and Federal are lucky to have her on their team. We only called in for coffee, which is delicious by the way and Sarah treated us to a vegan brownie to share that was rich and creamy topped with pecans and the entire staff warmly wished us farewell and thanked us for visiting them when we were leaving

Best breakfast in Manchester. Chai latte was also really good. Plenty of vegetarian options too. Very busy, I can understand why it's so popular. Very friendly staff.

We were recommended this chain. We were told there are no reservations so you have to take your chances and queue. We got to deansgate early and there were already 10 in the queue, but we joined anyway. So we all know queuing isn’t fun and certainly not when it starts raining. Oh how this place stands out. A really friendly member of staff kept with us, came out with hot chocolate for everyone and when it started raining came out with umbrellas. This was outstanding and we hadn’t even got it. When we did get a table we were very impressed and the food and service is extremely brilliant, don’t miss this place.

I visited on a Saturday morning, about a ten minute wait but that was fine and to be expected. Food was lovely and fresh. And they had decaf tea! WIN! Highly recommend.

I've been here a few times now. Easily one of the best breakfasts I've had and consistently good. Everything tastes fresh (they get their produce and goods delivered fresh daily). The French Toast is leagues beyond anything I've ever tried anywhere. Atmosphere is vintage which is quaint but there's limited seating therefore there can often be long queues and wait times. Personally I think it's worth the wait to try it. They've recently increased their prices so they are certainly on the expensive side but you can rest assured you'll be satisfied with the meal.

Super busy place with tasty food. My only issues are with the gluten free options. It’s fantastic that they have an option for gluten free bread but unfortunately the bread itself was terrible. Almost inedible, really tough and poor in taste. I’d highly recommend the cafe change their gluten free bread supplier, the Warburtons tiger bloom with sourdough is much nicer, for example, and can pass as gluten containing bread almost. Was told the steak was halal and it was a really yummy dish, would get this again. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent cortado. The place is busy, we had to queue 30 mins for a table of two on a Saturday at 1pm

The most popular of the 3 branches they have around the city. They have one of the best French toast. The cream they use is really good and the toast is soft and everything works well on the plate. The steak & eggs are also something worth trying. Really good steak and the sauces are very flavorful. Would visit again when I’m next in the city.

Fast service, staff were nice, ordered the eggs Benedict food wasn’t anything special in my opinion and feel that the price didn’t accurate reflect what I was given. Also the meal was not filling at all so definitely recommend something else from the menu if you’re hungry going in. My friend ordered the poached eggs on avocado toast and very much enjoyed it however and said it was very filling!

Loved the chai latte, piccolo, salmon bagel and the banana bread!! Devoured my food instantly because how good it tasted. Federal never disappoints. Although I don’t live in Manchester, I always try to go here for food if I am in town x Brilliant service as always and amazing interior too!!

Best place to eat breakfast and have a coffee in Manchester. You might need to wait for an hour in the queue for a table, but it’s 100% worth it. Regularly take friends and family to Federal when they come to visit, and everyone raves about it. Not one complaint, good food, good coffee, and the friendliest staff around! 整個咖啡廳有一點擁擠座位太靠近了，我點的「雲南綠」就是青茶，服務人員將茶點端上來之後，就在熱水中完全浸泡，沒有告訴我要先把茶水倒出來？結果我點的「青查變成苦茶」？這點咖啡廳非常不專業。至於點的早午餐味道不錯，起司做跟肉質很像？不知道怎麼做法？蛋也都蠻好的。

First time I've seen this place without a queue so thought I'd try. Still had to wait 25 minutes to be seated but it is what it is, this is a popular place. Food was excellent, highly recommend the steak sandwich, staff all lovely and friendly, clean venue, good coffee, fresh juice and plenty of water offered. I will say however I probably wouldn't return, personal preference but I'm not a fan of app or counter ordering, especially when there's a 10% service fee added to the bill and you pay upfront before trying to food or service, I don't know I like servers to actually serve you at the table and it's just not for me.

Absolutely amazing breakfasts! The staff were very friendly, and when we accidentally ordered the wrong dish they sorted it out without fuss. Will definitely be back next time we are in Manchester.

Literally amazing. Had the Turkish eggs with chorizo and the special of the day, the days special which was the Korean sandwich. Food was amazing and arrived really fast. Service was friendly and attentive. Will 100% come back. Can highly recommend

Favourite cafe in Manchester. Product is so good. Service polite and attentive. Coffee served can be hotter, by the time my americano got served it was lukewarm. But food wins it for me no doubt

Good spot for a slightly different brunch offering, not the cheapest by any means but the coffee was as good as it gets and overall a good place to go for brunch.

Nice, good welcome, Mrs had Great effing breakfast, I ordered the special, didn't get the toast and egg was under done. However, still enjoyed the coffee, the atmosphere and the environment. Would recommend but make sure they give you the toast because I didn't get any. Nice view of the car park.

Breakfast & Brunch nosh of the Poached Egg and Avocado on Sourdough variety, but executed really, really well. There's often a queue of people prepared to wait 20 - 30 minutes outside. That tells you all you need to know. It's Antipodean fayre, so there's a good amount of friendly Aussie staff, which is another positive selling point. City Centre prices, obviously, but worth every penny for a treat-yourself day in town.

Always busy when we have tried to get in today as in no rush we waited. Staff was friendly and good. I saw on the menu a corn fritter which i skimmed over till i asked what someone was eating and it was the fritter. So i had with bacon which was excellent and tasty. My wife had sandwich of hummus sweetcorn and falafel on sourdough which was also very tasty. Coffee was spot on too

I’ve been trying Turkish egg in different places, but honestly in FED was incredible.

This cafe has a great aesthetic and is a nice place to get a quick coffee or bite to eat. I would have worked here on my laptop but when I visited it was very busy - almost every seat was taken.

It's an alright cafe, nice and chill vibe and botanical earthy decor. Lots of ppl line up to get in at breakfast hours and the place doesn't haven't that many seats. Food is just fine but nothing special. I had their smashed avocado toast with smoked salmon. Portions could be bigger. Also tried their Iced Chai Latte, taste good but again, nothing special.

Recently had breakfast at Federal Cafe Bar, and the 20-minute wait was absolutely worth it. The service was commendable, and we tried the smashed avocado with salmon and Turkish eggs—both dishes were really good. The coffee was a standout. If you’re patient and looking for a delightful breakfast experience, I highly recommend Federal Cafe Bar. The wait is well rewarded with excellent food and service.

2023-12-28早上8點40左右等候20分鐘入場，牛排雞蛋盤好吃，有台灣夜市牛排的感覺。班尼迪克蛋的蛋很鮮美，但是吐司有一小部分燒焦了。說實在信義區東區隨意找一家早午餐店都可以吊打這家。

早上8點30到就要排隊，是很熱門的一間店 Steak & eggs 牛排的筋有點多，但蛋很好吃 Eggs Benedict with halloumi 起司很不錯，蛋很好吃，醬料也很棒，比起牛排我比較喜歡這個 基本上是好吃的網美店早 （會需要10%服務費）

Overrated and overpriced in my opinion. Cluttered/tacky decor, slow service even when empty for once, having four people stood behind the counter looking clueless whilst only one appears to be doing both pouring and serving, loud R&B at 7am; the coffee being burnt with no crema whatsoever was just the cherry on top.

Food was good. The service was disappointing. From the time I entered and sat down, no one greeted me or gave me a menu or water. But, the latter guests were treated very well. I don't know what happened, but the experience was not pleasant. I went to the counter to order after sitting ignored for a while and informed the waitress of the situation but unfortunately this waitress was not helpful, I said there was nothing on the table and she said that's because you haven't ordered yet. Afterwards, when the dessert I ordered was not served, I enquired about it and the same waitress asked if I was sure if I had ordered it and what I had ordered. I'm confused, could it be that the staff can't see the contents of my order on the computer? And have to check with the customer to see if they have ordered? I have visited Faderal many times but this is the first time such an unpleasant incident has happened. I think your restaurant should focus on training your staff on etiquette while maintaining the quality of food so that this kind of rudeness and injustice does not happen again.

The food here is always incredible. I'd recommend the French toast in particular. Be aware that there is usually a queue but it is worth it.

The resturant was cold - big draught somewhere. We are our food with our coats and scarf on. Food wasn't bad. Had turkish eggs and avocado toast - feels it might be slightly on the higher price scale. They also have cocktails. Visited after watching Topjaw and was looking for places to eat at in Manchester - not as much hype as it was made out to be.

Really poor experience. It offered a really authentic experience of being on a glacier. It was drafty and cold. Everybody sitting in the restaurant was wearing coats and full outdoors kit. I would not recommend this place.

You can’t book, so you have to queue. Luckily we only queued about 5 mins then we got a seat at the window. It was pretty packed, so you can’t eat with your elbows sticking out! The food came pretty quickly and was top notch....

Sehr kleiner Laden, aber sehr gemütlich. Ich war zum Frühstück hier und hatte Avocadobrot mit pochierten Eiern. Absolut lecker. Zusammen mit einem Cappuccino knapp 17€. Nicht ganz günstig, aber zusammen mit Ambiente und Service durchaus vertretbar. In jedem Fall waren alle Zutaten sehr frisch.

We had to wait for quite a while outside, but the staff were really nice and gave us an umbrella when it started to rain. Inside was very cosy, we didn’t feel rushed, even though they had people waiting. The area was a bit cramped, so we did have a feeling of being in the way at times. The food was excellent, the menu offered something a bit different and the coffee was also really good.

My favourite is the steak sandwich, that comes with aioli garlic on a soft ciabatta. The service is always friendly and I like the vibes inside the cafe, although I would never go on the weekend, the queues are always out of the door. In terms of kid friendliness, probably only a table near the door that is suitable for prams etc.

100/10 service level! Don’t usually post review, but service level is on another level. Gave us hot chocolate while we were queuing outside and gave cookie on the house when I’m done with my meal. Great food too, but service is truly excellent.

We arrived at federal cafe and were greeted by Jerusalem who advised we had a 15 minute wait and gave us some menus in the meantime. We then got seated and were kindly treated by another waitress who enquired about allergens and explained the ordering...

Siamo stati qui per provare il brunch. Il cibo era buonissimo, soprattutto il french toast. Prezzi un po' alti ma in linea con gli altri. Per la bontà dei piatti vale la pena. Di domenica mattina un po' di fila per sedersi.

This was a great spot recommended by some good folks at SafetyCulture! My wife and I were in from the US and really enjoyed the kind service and delicious food here. We both had the steak sandwich and the bread was superb. Great place to eat and service is great!

I only popped in here briefly for a takeaway but everyone was super friendly and helpful. It was clearly a very popular spot because it was packed on a Tuesday morning! With good reason as the menu is incredible... Definitely come here for brunch, or coffee and a slice of cake! I bought a hot milo and yoghurt-granola bowl. I always struggle to get a hot chocolate when out because it's either too strong and chocolatey, or too milky, but this one hit the spot. The granola bowl was yummy; chunky granola with nuts and spices, thick yoghurt, fresh berries and a generous drizzle of orange honey. Very happy and will definitely be back there.

Best brunch in Manchester! Such a cosy little cafe with exceptional coffee and food. I ordered a cappuccino and it’s the best I’ve ever had. The homemade granola was absolutely delicious too. Service was incredible. Well worth a visit.

One of the best breakfast/brunch places I’ve been to in Manchester. Food was incredible, coffee is some of the best I’ve had and the staff are all lovely. Only problem you may have is that it is very busy, but we did only have to wait about 10 minutes for a table.

Lovely little cafe, very busy with a. Queue out the door, staff were friendly and the place was clean. The food was really nice but on the expensive side. Downsides The app ordering system was incredibly slow and over complicated, why do you need to know my date of birth? I'm not ordering alcohol. Automatic tip applied before we've had our meal which is strange and defeats the purpose of tipping. No one came to check on us. And for the money I'm paying I would rather table service then an app.
