Looking for somewhere for lunch where we could take the dogs, we stopped a couple on the street and they recommended Fresh. Very enjoyable lunch in pleasant surroundings. We opted for cake afterwards and were both totally spoilt for choice. I went for the plum upside down but it was a hard decision. Good coffee too

Visited twice on our recent holiday. Once for coffee and cake, which was very tasty. Then, the following day for lunch. Lots of interesting options on the menu, with all diets catered for. The cafe was very busy but service was friendly and quite prompt in the circumstances. This compares very favourably with our dismal experience in a cafe in Wigtown which was totally incapable of coping with the lunchtime rush

Best cafe in Kirkcudbright. Delicious food and really lovely staff. Would definitely recommend people to visit for lunch or coffee and cake. Plenty of room for families.

Excellent food, and the best moca coffee I have ever had. Great atmosphere, and wonderful staff. Great Vegetarian and Vegan options. Exactly what types of cafe Kirkcudbright has needed for a long time, and I hope it's still here for a long time to come.

The food was delicious and the coffee was exceptional. The customer service left a little to be desired as we felt a little unwelcome and unwanted :( There was one waitress who was exceptionally friendly though and the food was brilliant. However, it was a little overpriced for the quality and we were shocked to pay so much for what we had. We did get takeaway dips which were absolutely gorgeous! I think we may have visited on a busy day - but this is a good spot for Vegan or vegetarians!

Only recently changed its policy on dogs, so we have now visited. We had coffee (very strong) , tea and delicious cake. There was a very impressive, mainly veggie, menu but we will sample that at a later date. Decor is simple with original art on the walls and plenty of space between tables. Pleasant service.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch here on a previous occasion so called in today for a cuppa. We were greeted by a sullen member of staff who never smiled or spoke after directing us to a table. We were then served by a different person who when asked if they served scones, said “No, they weren't a conventional cafe”! Nevertheless, the cake was good but it was presented on chipped plates . Not sure the point Feast is trying to make but sullen staff and chipped crockery doesn’t help their cause.

Claims of fresh produce are not reflected in the food served. Sadly, the meal was very underwhelming and overpriced. The £30.00 sharing platter consisted of pre-packed salad, tortilla chips and olives. Three very small dishes of beetroot humus, hummus and whipped feta (very little feta) with two triangles of focaccia. This is such a shame as everywhere we have been in the past 10 days has been fresh, local, well presented and delicious. The cafe was also very cold!

This little gem of a cafe was a delightful haven on a wet visit to Kirkcudbright. The menu was interesting and varied, service was friendly and efficient. The generous serving of soup (sweet potato) was piping hot and accompanied by delicious focaccia. A good find, I would thoroughly recommend.

Food was dreadful. I had a sweet potato soup that was about 90% water served with cold, greasy focaccia. The kids had flat bread pizzas - they were shocking. Honestly I couldn’t believe it. The carrier in the dining room was filthy and I regret spending our hard earned money in there. Never again.

Great coffee, delicious cakes, super lovely staff. This is my go to cafe in Kirkcudbright. Cakes are made on site, cinnamon buns are hot from the oven if you get in early doors. The BLT and HLT are a great lunch option and the nourish bowl is exactly that, delicious! Don’t order pizza from the kids menu if you’re vegetarian. There’s plenty of other options!

Oh goodness what’s happened..? This used to be good, but we brought our elderly friend, a lifelong vegetarian, and she decided on pizza. Seriously, raw tomato purée spread on a shop bought wrap and a meagre sprinkle of cheddar does not make a pizza and certainly not worthy of the cost. The drinks were cold too. Hot chocolate should be just that. Please improve…you were better than this but seem to be slacking off…

We went on 7th February and then again on 8th. We went twice because of the incredible butternut squash and lentil soup which was rich with loads of turmeric and absolutely delicious. Also a big shout out to the incredible loaded focaccia, a thing of beauty 😍. Thanks to the guy on Tuesday for sharing one of the soup secrets, and to the Wednesday crew for being so smiley and lovely, that kind of thing makes such a difference. We will be back

We were staying for a few days in kirkcubright and visited Feast for lunch. I don't usually right any poor reviews as I know how difficult a time small businesses are having these days but I could not believe the poor quality of service. We both had the soup with piece of focaccia bread. The soup tasted nice but was pretty cold. Then waited for about 20 minutes to be asked if there was anything else required. ( perhaps we should have taken the initiative and tracked down the staff) when asked what we wanted we ordered 2 teas and piece of cake. Then waited again for about 15 minutes until we asked if tea was coming only to be told that waitress was unaware that we had ordered. (Same person who took the order) Needless to say we did not bother with tea. Maybe this is what happens in winter months as people switch off.

Stunningly great Shakshuka, served with homemade Focaccia for me, the best I've ever eaten. My girlfriend had the Loaded Focaccia with salad, which she enoyed very much. The coffee was perfect. I could have sworn that I noticed some Orange and Cardamom cakes that seemed to have pistachio sprinkled amongst the cardamom. I'm anaphylactic-allergic to pistachio, and I'm sure a sensible establishment like Feast would have mentioned this in their labelling, but just thought I'd mention it. No points deducted. Would happily visit again. :-)

If you are in Kirkcudbright, or indeed Dumfries and Galloway, I'd highly recommend a visit to Feast Café. If you enjoy proper coffee, friendly service, and generous portions then look no further. I would personally recommend a portion of the freshly made loaded focaccia with the soup of the day. Thereafter, take a look at the bounty of cakes - all made in house of course - or perhaps take a cinnamon bun for the road. Feast is a family run business which encapsulates all the charm and heartiness of the surrounding countryside. Do stop by if you have the chance. Ps. Sandwiches aren't served all day.

Usually such great service and food , unfortunetly not on our last trip up north! Had to ask for menus after 30 minutes sitting with no table service at all, it was not busy! Meals were brought and were delicious, then again no more customer service. Had to go and ask for bill at end of meal. Disappointed usually fantastic service in cafe, new staff?

Feast is open for dinner until 7pm Thursday to Saturday (as well as during the day Monday to Saturday). They serve delicious and imaginative vegetarian food. We had sweet potato and coconut soup, a selection of dips with home made focaccia and three different salads. This was more than enough for us and everything was very tasty. We enjoyed the food so much we returned the following day to buy food to eat at our holiday cottage. There is a good range of lovely looking cakes too.

Quirky and relaxed surroundings would sum up Feast for me. We came across it by chance on a visit last month to Kirkcudbright. We enjoyed an amazing short break in Dumfries and Galloway visiting book shops, artists residences and excellent restaurants. Feast was very laid back with excellent fresh food. It is more than a cafe because of the quality of its food. The staff were friendly and attentive at all times.

What a delightful place, informal - with a continental feel to it - a relaxing atmosphere and with sensible space between tables. Friendly young staff who appear to be enjoying themselves. And then the food - what a change from the usual fare you find in even other-wise pleasant cafes. "Salad" here does not mean crisps, coleslaw out a tin and lettuce leaves resuscitated from a gas-filled plastic bag. The salads at Feast are a feast of fresh fruit and grain and salad vegetables. The bread is a meal in itself and the home baked cakes! The chocolate and hazelnut cake just melted in the mouth. And the coffee? Pretty good too. But lots of folk in Kirkcudbright don't seem to have heard of it yet - what a shame - spread the word and don't miss a treat - and a Feast.

Not sure where to start, but one thing is for sure, there isn’t a single negative in this review. Home Restaurant, it’s exactly what the name suggests - Home. It’s home because when you walk in you will be made to feel at home. Friendly, welcoming and a huge smile greets you. Around 20ish tables, lovely decor and lighting, views of the kitchen and bar and small but very tempting and amazing menu with a choice for everyone. The knowledge of the food is beyond what I have experienced anywhere else. This included where, when and how sourced. Also any ingredient used in cooking and prepping the dishes. This was only my second visit and honestly I left the first time saying the exact same as I am now repeating. Absolutely outstanding in every category and manner. My advice is listen to the owner’s recommendations and let her husband in the kitchen wow you with his skills. I have been to Michelin star restaurants that having nothing on Home, if you get the chance to eat at Home in Dumfries, my advice is seize it with both hands. And if you have a spare seat going let me come too ! Home was reviewed by a very well know food critic and she rated it as a hidden treasure (my words but she absolutely loved it), I believe “refreshingly perfect” were actually Grace Dents words. She wasn’t wrong and a full 5 stars from me. James is the best chef within at least a hundred miles for sure.
