Very pleasant light lunch on canopied terrace. Excellent fresh soup & brie/ cranberry toasties + coffee. The centre is welcoming and a little scuffed which makes it very 'Arty' with amiable staff. Would have given it 5-stars but there is no need to have plastic grass dotted about?!!!

Yes! Get in Exeter Phoenix! Nicely done! A few tables to choose from for a late coffee and a chapter of Brene Brown. Attentive and friendly staff, and a diverse group of customers happy to exchange a courteous smile and nod. All together a very pleasant 25 minutes at the end of a long day. What would have made it better? Well, that's simple. Just a little more heat in the latte would have done it. I'll ask for an extra hot one next time. Fab!

A lovely, quiet cafe and bar, part of the Phoenix multi arts centre. Friendly staff, a nice outdoor seating area and an excellent bacon sandwich!

Went here for lunch as the museum was closed . Brilliant little cafe. Great food. Lovely friendly service. Good coffee.

What a great environment. Went there for a meet up with a friend post lockdown. We just wanted drinks and a catch up and we were under no pressure to buy food. The food look delicious and the service was first class. Will use this place again!

Stopped in to pass time to catch a train. Happy we did as coffee is so good, ended up having two. Place is clean, food is simple and really good. As it’s only outdoor seating, I reckon it should be non smoking and ask the smokers to pop downstairs to smoke. Nothing more inconsiderate then a smoker in an area where others are eating.

Quit asking to see customers exemption lanyards to avoid prosecution. I understabd you are very keen to comply with our governments mandates but exercise caution when overly complying.

I love this place. It’s of the beaten track but well worth a visit! Really great value for money and this food is delicious And a personal experience and the staff are great and so welcoming.

A good place to take a break but students treat it as a study so getting a table can be a problem. Wouldn't mind if they were also buying. They stay for hours on one drink. Grrr!

Como me dice Erasmus, Ophelia y Tarquin estaban escribiendo totalmente nuestra evaluación en nuestro MacBook dorado (mi daaaad me dice que son muy elegantes) y ni siquiera pudimos conectarnos al wifi.Ermaghaad, este lugar es increíblemente increíble Boomer......En otras palabras, el gran Pheonix ahora es solo una sombra de un centro de artes.

Este lugar se ha movido hasta los tres mejores cafés en Exeter para nosotros. Gran café y golosinas, además de un menú súper fresco con muchas opciones veganas para un almuerzo o cena ligera. Ambiente agradable y muchas cosas interesantes para ver y hacer en el edificio. Asientos al aire libre también! !

Came for a gig tonight and spent alot of the time chatting to the friendly bar staff. What a great bunch of people you have working there, even under pressure they had time for everyone and gave great service.

Hemos usado el Phoenix Cafe muchas veces, cada vez que no teníamos nada de qué quejarse, solo un elogio. Hoy desafortunadamente fue bastante diferente. Un miembro del personal malhumorado tiró dos cafés enfrente de nosotros, derramándolos en los platillos, sin responder a nuestras amables gracias o sonrisas. No es de extrañar que se haya escapado, ¡el café era como el agua del plato! Me temo que hay muchos cafés en el área que sirven productos de gran calidad, todos con una sonrisa amistosa, que no tenemos que aguantar nunca más.

Fue a tomar café después de ver una gran exhibición en las hermosas galerías de nuevo diseño: los pisos estaban asquerosamente pegajosos y las mesas necesitaban una buena limpieza. Cometí un gran error al usar el baño de damas, tan repugnante y que parecía que no habían sido limpiados en meses, han usado baños más limpios del festival. El director de este lugar - Patrick? debería estar avergonzado

Recientemente fui a The Exeter Phoenix para ver un juego grupal en su auditorio. El clima era menos que agradable, ya que había estado lloviendo todo el día y en algún momento incluso se escucharon truenos.

Me dijeron que todos los cafés, etc. que hacía comida GF en Exeter eran iguales. Nadie podía garantizar que en realidad fueran totalmente GF. Estaba asombrado, y muy confundido (y hambriento) pero obviamente no podía pedir nada, en vista de mi condición. Hubiera sido agradable que me hubieran dicho que, aunque no tenían un área designada, que al menos trataban de asegurarse de que no estuvieran contaminados, pero no me dieron ninguna garantía en absoluto. Estaba sorprendido y en realidad muy molesto por esto, ya que el chico con el que hablé tenía una actitud muy indiferente.

¡He estado en algunas ocasiones ahora y debo decir que siempre fue maravilloso visitarlo! La cafetería durante el día es siempre acogedora y amable, ¡y la comida siempre es deliciosa! También he visitado eventos nocturnos, y el personal está claramente altamente capacitado y decidido a atender a las personas lo más rápido posible. Los precios son razonables y los eventos siempre son divertidos. Mención especial es el atento personal de la casa y el encantador caballero que dirige la sala de capa.

Buena selección de cervezas y sidras, además de tés, cafés e infusiones. No he probado la comida, pero siempre huele bien. Puede ponerse muy concurrido cuando hay un concierto, pero el servicio es amable y rápido.

Good choice of drinks on draught and some specials. Decently manned on busy nights. Prices ok. Staff polite.

Whilst Gandy Street has it's own restaurants, bars and cafes the Cafe/Bar at the Phoenix has improved it's food offering recently, often have specials on the board and their selection of drinks is excellent. Only two minor qualms, they don't provide a free newspaper anymore and the music selection is bland, as they no longer play any of the excellent community radio station that is broadcasting from, literally, below their feet.

I really love the atmosphere and staff here. However, whenever I come here for drinks after work (around 5/6pm) food is already finished being served for the day. This may have changed in the last few months, and if so I expect it's pretty good, but whenever I've been in the past (and I've been for quite a few years, 17 or thereabouts) it always sounds delicious but then is only served for lunch or until about 4. I think they are losing what could be a profitable crowd - after work dinner people. Also, the one time they did have food (I think the staff/menu times change a lot) it was just flatbread - which was pretty good, but that was the SOLE choice.

Quirky little cafe/vibrant night life bar! The staff are more than accommodating and the atmosphere is perfect. Fab sunshine lunch spot, just round the corner from work.

I have been coming to this cafe bar for years, the coffee is great the staff are lovely and there is always an arty hub bub going on:) A great place to meet friends and make new ones!

Falafel sandwiches definitely different and sweet potato fries excellent. Cappuccino good. Loved the Cahun exhibition. Somewhere different on a wet and windy day.

Regular customer at the Phoenix. I often attend business meetings in the bar. Drinks are fairly priced, just a shame I never seem to get a beer in the correct glass! A lot of the time it's a guessing game as to which drink is mine when purchasing a big round. Apart from that, excellent service and excellent beverages!

We have been regular visitors to the Phoenix Bar and Café as it has a lovely atmosphere and is very child-friendly. In the past we have enjoyed a range of food from an interesting menu, presented well and served by friendly staff. We were all the more disappointed, then, to find that the cafe's kitchen has now been closed and the new menu is a selection of tired looking salads which are stored at the end of the bar and pies and mash which are microwaved there as well. The staff were friendly, courteous and professional, but after waiting 25 minutes for a children's pasta bowl and one pie and mash to be put in a microwave and brought to us, we gave up and had our food refunded. If you just want a hot drink or something from the bar this is still a good place to go - nice atmosphere, plenty of space, pleasant staff. However, we definitely won't be going for food again, and judging by small number of people in the café at lunch time during the half term holiday others think the same. Such a shame Phoenix - you have a remarkable resource, funded in part by the city council, and this poor decision making will keep people away from the building.

A visitor may well miss out on this little gem. More a bistro than a café we dropped by for late Saturday lunch and just had a bowl of soup but the brunch menu was very interesting with Middle Eastern overtones and standard burgers.All I can say is if in Exeter go!

It was not the experience that I was expecting, this is very Mediterranean food which can be quite spicy but does have very rich flavours and exotic tastes. Being a chef, its is nice to have a menu where everything is new to me and different from other café experiences. I had fillet of sea bream and my friend had foccia bread with mixed salad. Both excellent and very well priced. The coffees are excellent too.

It is a bit put of the way but once you've found it you'll want to come back. The staff were really relaxed and relaxing and eager to help with food choice and advice about the wifi - slightly variable speed but it worked for me.

I've been here a number of times, and can't recall ever really being disappointed. A central bar with seating and a reasonable range of drinks - two real ales today - with a fair selection of food, all to had in a pleasant relaxing atmosphere, and although aspects of the interior are showing their age, this has no impact on ones enjoyment. Service was friendly and attentive. Today I had mackerel with chips and salad, and although was told it would take awhile, as with such a dish they cook from scratch, in the event it was not overly long, and in any case, better than something already cooked and then warmed up! That said, the food was good but maybe could have been cooked just a minute or two longer; maybe something to do with my preference. Presentation was average. As for price, at £6∙25 odd, I thought very good value, and hopefully profits go towards supporting the Arts Centre, talking of which, there is usually an exhibition and other artistic goings on within the building.

Our favourite place for coffee away from the main street and the chain-coffee shops. Good for lunch too, imaginative cooking, specials on the board always a treat.

Whenever i visit this cafe, i wonder why i don't visit more often! The food is always good and reasonably priced, they can cater for my non cheese diet and the staff are friendly.It's situated in a naturally lit area of the Phoenix Centre and has a decked area where you can enjoy the sun on warm days. There's even a free exhibition next door to browse.Only improvement would be with the Centre toilets that are always rather smelly, although clean.
