Amazing location conference and wedding venue 10 years ago Now a homeless hostel how the mighty fall

Does not exist closed down squatters in it now and those fake people who take your car for a cheap price at the airport dump them here

Filled with asylum seekers nowadays.

Scammers!!! Absolutely disgusting tax dodgers. Stole all their customers money, ruined so many couples weddings. Hung their staff out to dry paying them their furlough in cash out of the boot of a car in their car park before eventually making them redundant once they stopped receiving furlough from the government.

Unfortunately due to COVID our stay was cancelled in March 2020 having accepted a voucher from them we have been trying to contact them without success for many months both by telephone and e mail. Does anyone know if they have closed down or gone into liquidation?

Please see photos for my review written at the time. But in short I would stop here again.

I need to cancel my booking. The phone is off the hook and no one is answering my emails. Not good

We stayed the night before our flight, good location for the airport and the train station.

They haven't even got the decency to answer the phone and refund money for cancellations, absolutely terrible way to treat customers.

We never got to stay because of Covid 19. The hotel closed and wasnt even able to tell us so! I think they could have had the decency to call people who had bookings with them to advise them so. They just are not answering their phones. I know it's not their fault but think things should be handled better

Arrived to no one there and an awful musky smell. No shuttle service available due to covid , okay fine . But not informed at the time of the booking . No ironing facilities , no tea coffee facilities , no WiFi , bar not available nor the restaurant . Lockdown was finished and pubs and restaurants were open so I don’t know why !! But again they blamed covid .. unclean and I kept hotel , more 1 star .. just a miserable place and experience

Eine Nacht. Heizung hat nicht funktioniert. Es gab nur lau-warmes Wasser in der Dusche, die nach Benutzung nicht mehr aufgehört hat zu tropfen. Ist sehr hell-hörig. Flur zu den 50er Zimmern hat stark nach Rauch gestunken. Bett war total durchgelegen. War sehr enttäuschend und kann es nicht weiterempfehlen. :(

dreadful room was cold no heating only offered continental breakfast when I assumed it would be full english breakfast. very costly for what is on offer.Will defineately not be booking this establishment again

Really good homely hotel. The staff were brilliant and so friendly. The food was excellent.

Good service from the staff but a little run down. The Aircon seemed to cause an intermittent noise problem in the rooms. The practice of charging an additional fee for parking at the hotel may be similar to other hotels but it's not acceptable. I'll stay elsewhere in future

I (a brown foreign woman) checked in last night with my white, English, male, partner. Despite the reservation being under my name, payment being under my card, and that I speak in British/Australian-accented English, the keys to the room were directly handed to my partner standing behind me, and breakfast times were explained to him. This was some form of racism and/or sexism and I think staff should undergo racism and/or sexism training. Positives are that the bed was comfortable and the breakfast staff were terrific.

We stayed the night before flying off to Florida , a great way to start our holiday, staff were very attentive particularly when we ate in the restaurant Natalie was 5 star. 4 star was just the distance to the bedroom via labyrinth of corridors

Good value hotel ideally placed for manchester hotel. Slight downside is the roadworks. Confused the sat nav and we only found it as we have stayed there before and knew what it looked like. Roadworks are out of the hotels control but would be a good idea to put a sign up just before the turn off.

Clean and spacious rooms. Bar staff friendly.

Very impressive 18th century hotel, superb place to hold conferences or weddings I would think.

This is a great place to stay for a relaxing night before your next day flight. Pick up and drop off transfer to terminals free of charge.

Decor needs attention, lights in our room didnt all work, couldn't see in the bathroom so had to leave the door wide open, broken mirrors etc. Staff dont seem to know where the rooms are and send you through the maze of corridors in the wrong direction ....But...the breakfast was fabulous and the price was very reasonable.

Old world charm comfortable stay

Very conveniently sited close to Jetpark1/Free drop-off area at the end of Thorley Lane; small bar area next to restaurant, serving a good variety of bar snacks and full meals; advertising "Coffee Bar with free WiFi" but the dreaded 'NET ERR' for invalid certification prevented any internet connection (something someone should be able to sort out soon?) . . . Otherwise most welcoming and convenient.

I've not stayed overnight here but when we've been to Christmas events, staff could not have done more to make our experience special. Food quality was excellent and all well organised.

My stay at Etrop Grange was satisfactory. The shuttle service was excellent because the driver was very friendly in helping us and striking a conversation with us. However, the hotel room and other services like dinning variety was not to my expectations. The hotel room was adequately spaced but the hotel toilet could not lock and the hot water knobs in the showers were difficult to handle. The dining service was satisfactory but the menu was not as great as expected. Considering the hotel size, there was a limited choice of food to choose from for dinner but the variety of their breakfast buffet helped to compensate for the lack of variety in their dinner menu. The hotel was not too shabby but travellers with huge luggages must beware because there is no service (as far as I experience) for the luggages to be carried and sent to your room. We were allocated to a room in the ground level and our baggage have to be carried across quite a narrow corridor and across multiple doors and steps. The doors and steps made it more difficult for us since we were carrying more than one baggage. Overall, the stay was satisfactory and the distance from the hotel to the airport was perfect for travellers who wish to rest for the night and take the morning flight out from manchester. Ps: Review was based on just one night of stay.

Lovely place under going some cosmetic work which when finished will make a lovely hotel. Very convenient for Manchester airport. Staff very friendly and helpful so would certainly recommend

Tired old hotel without sound control so car noise from near by street and people in other rooms could be heard well. Strong bleach smell in bathroom and cheap toiletries. Bar drinks was s bad we have left it.

We had a pre wedding dinner for 22 people and booked 4 weeks in advance paid £30 a head the menus were all sorted one week before on arrival we were shown to the room which was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful how ever the meals were not so cleaver everyone's meal was cold the soup was not accompanied with any rolls and when they did bring them out they were frozen inside the beef and fish dishes were cold and the guests who ordered the vegetarian option was told on the night that the vegetarian lasagna that was ordered they had no recollection of this but the chef would whip up a pasta dish t(he only meal that was hot)the two staff that were on duty worked very hard that night i would like to thank them

Was there for a friend's celebration.The food was cold .The bar well over priced..Would not recommended to anyone .The place smelled going to the loo.

Just a nice clean place with a lovely breakfast

Stated in 2017 whilst on a UK visit with my dad. The food was excellent THEN but here with my husband in 2019 & it has new owners. Menu boring & stupidly expensive so went to a pizza bar. All room and corridors are run down & menu gross. Won’t stay here again.

stayed here for one night prior to our weekend away.Very convenient hotel and lovely breakfast but afterwards on return a disaster with the car park communication.We phoned as told the number on return we waited as said at bus stop E for 50 mins !!!! we were thinking of getting a taxi back to the compound this was a joke .The lady on the phone was so rude she definately needed better communication skills .Will not be using this service ever agin nightmare

Perfect airport hotel. Comfy rooms, huge bathroom with tub and shower. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Free shuttle service to terminal ideal, but if you arrive late you will need a taxi (£5-6)

No disabled access the entrance into reception is up a flight of external stone steps with no handrail assistance. Would not stay here again even though it is convenient for the airport.

Dirty bathrooms, cracked glass in mirror and door handle coming off. Moved rooms, better but bathroom still filthy. Didn’t use it. The carpet in lounge near entry is all corrugated and needs to come up. It’s like a rabbit warren of rooms and is very run down. Food good

OK for a stop over if you are wanting to change your flight. But the meals are a bit pricey in the restaurant and the quality is of a poor standard.

An absolutely brilliant hotel with character, within walking distance to the airport.

Night reception guys were very helpful, hats off to the chef for sourcing excellent quality food , breakfast has got to be the best I've had for a long time. Mark was so helpful to all the customers would highly recommend you stop here

good but understaffed in the evening

The staff here are great including the reception staff and the driver. The room's door handle was falling off and the electricity could not be activated with the keycard without some manipulation. A wedding reception was in progress and it seemed they could not cope with this along with the usual guests.

2.5 neither good or too bad but had holes in the wall for installed but not working aircon, stained carpet, rusty metal in bathroom and bathroom blinds that don't fit the window so don't completely protect privacy. Nothing insurmountable to preventing use of the room tho but enough negatives for me to leave 2 star instead of 3.

Convinient location, friendly staff and a quite room for an early start that's enough for me

The room I had was lovely. Very nice touches, beautiful bathroom, Nespresso machine. Shame the decorating was very dated and in need of attention. I ate dinner in the restaurant and the meal was stunning. All the staff were lovely, friendly. Great location and didn't hear a plane at all even though the hotel is right on the doorstep of the airport. I would happily go back.

Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Friendly and helpful staff from reception to the waiting on staff. Pleasant calming atmosphere, hugely comfy bed. Excellent and varied breakfast. Stunning decor. What's not to love? Definitely will return.

Budget hotel near the airport, ok for one night. Free shuttle to airport on a first come first serve basis, you can walk to the airport in 15 mins max. No restaurants nearby so we ordered a Domino's pizza who deliver to the hotel.

I think this place will always bring in guests due to its proximity to the airport. I stayed on a business trip but wouldn't stay there voluntarily again. The building is old and a bit creaky and had a damp smell and feel in the corridors. My room was OK, but tired and in need of redecorating. Bath was tiny, toilet flush needed repeated attempts to function. Walls were thin; I heard plenty of conversation from the adjacent room. The staff were proficient and polite and the bed was ok.

Ideally located for the airport and excellent staff. However a wee bit tired. Air con unit broken no handle on the toilet in room 5 . However I would use again for proximity to airport and surprisingly no plane noise .

Couldn't leave zero stars unfortunately. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Once past the beautiful exterior, the place is in dire need of a revamp, carpets filthy, walls desperate for a new lick of paint. My room apparently a club room(can't imagine a basic room) was very dirty especially the bathroom, bottom of the shower screen filthy. Air conditioning was out of action with a dirty great hole in the wall. Telephone not working, generally a very depressing room. Staff seemed run off their feet with no organisation. Was so glad to leave. See you next time one of the staff called out as I left. Not in a million
