Escabeche in Rushcliffe

Missing being able to eat in and we'll be back as soon as we can. In the meantime, the takeaway provides a way of having the food at home which is a great way of brightening a day

Been multiple times and never disappoints even if we have missed the mango margs ever since we tried them the first time. The menu is varied and tasty with a good selection of specials when they are on (mango margs, cherry margs) always a nice evening when we go for food.

We booked as a family of four for a 4pm sitting to celebrate a family occasion. The restaurant at that time had around 12 people seated including ourselves. The waitress was lovely and took our order efficiently , unfortunately we had to chase our drinks as the lad behind the bar was more concerned with the large number of takeaway orders being collected at the bar. Then some of the various elements of the tapas we ordered began to arrive in reasonable time and were very nice, but then the food stopped arriving as did the further drinks we ordered. After around ten minutes a waitress came and asked us if we had finished and we pointed out we were still waiting for food and drink. The drink it turns out was sat behind the bar, just not delivered. Some five minutes later a waitress came and asked us what we were waiting for ? ! The order , despite being a single order, not staggered, had been lost. We therefore asked for the bill so we could leave. When the bill came , despite the service charge having been removed, was still incorrect. All very disappointing. The obvious problem is the staff seemed more concerned in dealing with take away orders than looking after people actually sat in the restaurant, especially the lad behind the bar who seemed to be in charge.

First visit to escabeche this week and we were not disappointed. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food amazing, we ordered 6 different dishes and loved them all. Plus the sharing portion of churros for desert finished everything off nicely. Really lovely restaurant and would recommend.

Not bad tapas in a buzzy place. Tables a bit small for 4 people with the volume of food and drink. A nice change from the other Central Avenue venues.

Lovely place!! The food was delicious, I especially liked the patatas bravas and the crema catalana. My mum didn’t really like that a lot of the food she got was fried, but I guess that’s up to personal preference. She said if she came again she would get something different. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. I asked her if the sticky toffee pudding had dates in and she asked the chefs since she didn’t know herself (for my fellow autistic people, yes it does). The service was also super fast. I went to the bathroom shortly after ordering and my mum’s halloumi fritters had already been served when I came back. We came in at 4, so it was quite empty at first, but the service stayed fast even when it was busier and we ordered desserts. The restaurant is decorated really nicely, I loved the grey plates and the cup my latte came in. My latte also had a heart on it which I thought was so cute. This might be something only I would write in a review as a graphic design student, but I thought the menus were really nicely designed. I especially liked the typography on the paper that came on the plates. I will definitely be taking inspiration for any similar projects I have.

A bit slow in taking orders but the food is incredible

On our first visit we got off to a bad start regarding a voucher we had bought over the phone. This was partly our own fault. However, we returned a second time and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They gave us £5 compensation, for our inconvenience, which we were really grateful for. We stayed for a meal and everything we ordered was delicious. We are vegetarian but plenty of options for us. We especially liked the mushroom risotto made with tiny pasta. We will definitely be returning.

On this occasion we went here for a works party. It was amazing from start to finish. The food was incredible and there was plenty of it. The service was impeccable. My only complaint really was the noise level in the room when full of diners it was a little overwhelming for someone who struggles with noise levels due to hearing problems.

I've been coming here for years and never had an issue, this evening the manager was nothing short of vile! My friend was 8months pregnant and we were repeatedly bombarded by staff coming over pushing us to leave for the next booking telling us we couldn't order puddings unless we had them at the bar,asking us to pay whilst we were still eating and then the next bloody table didn't even arrive on time!

I wish to preface this by saying I have spent a great deal of time in Spain, as in actually living there, not just a trip to magaluf. Therefore I have had a lot of Spanish food. Most of the food here is frankly some of the best I have eaten outside of the peninsula, particularly the chorizo. It was delicious. However the tortilla is what my Spanish partner described as a “war crime”and my Spanish friends when I showed them reacted with “😭”. It is not tortilla. Tortilla is not served with crème fraiche. Ever. Other than that the service is slow and they cannot seem to seat you at the time you have reserved. Regardless the food was on the whole really good. But I would definitely watch any simple YouTube tutorial on how to make tortilla and you will see it is NOT how they do it here.

Have just had a fantastic lunch here at escabeche with friends. We all ordered the menu del dia which is an absolute bargain - the food and service were both brilliant. Music was good, made for a nice atmosphere, clean and well laid out.

Fantastic food and excellent service. Particularly recommend trying the mushroom and goats cheese with almond pesto.

Great menu with a wide choice of tapas. Friendly staff, seating upstairs and down.

We had my grandsons wedding reception at Escabeche West Bridgford, what a wonderful day we had , the food was amazing and plenty of it, nothing was too much trouble for the staff anything we asked for was there in a second, the staff were very helpful, pleasant, friendly and extremely professional, the service was exceptional, I cannot praise them enough, atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Booked over the phone, changed the booking, had a wheelchair user with us, bin of this was an issue at all, lovely staff, decent price point and lovely food. Gorgeous singer in too, the icing on the cake! Lovely Sunday evening had by all, can highly recommend, thank you!

Had our wedding reception at Escabeche last month and it couldn’t have been better! The room was decorated beautifully, staff were super attentive the whole evening and the food was incredible! All of the guests thoroughly enjoyed it!

Booked the upstairs room for our Wedding Reception. Can’t thank them enough for their brilliant service fabulous food and helpful staff. Everyone loved the place and were blown away by the Tapas ! It made for a really special day. Really accommodating venue as we were able to get things dropped off and staff then organised everything. Would definitely recommend Escabeche to everyone. First time visit and had a great lunch.

Love this place, delicious food, fantastic service and really careful attention to food allergies/intolerances. Had a group meal here with 10 of us and the party menu was amazing! SO much food and got to try a bit of everything, for a very reasonable price considering the quality. Had a friend that's coeliac and she was amazed at how much she could have- all her food had flags in to differentiate which was reassuring, and a friend with a garlic intolerance too who also enjoyed her food. They even checked with the chef how much was in each dish so she could decide what to have. Service was friendly and attentive and they even saved some pictures that we left behind by accident. Would highly recommend!

Brilliant and flavoursome food and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I recommend the beef and Korean cauliflower. We ate so much of the best food!

We went to Escabeche a couple of weeks ago and the food was brilliant, the live music was fantastic. Our first visit which is why we went back last week. Again the food was sensational and we were really pleased. I would offer one piece of feedback that would improve the dining experience. We were sat on a table right next to the staff station. Throughout the evening the staff would congregate here and it felt like we were part of their private conversations. It was quite intrusive and felt they should have been more aware of their customers. Also other customers were coming up to the station so it felt like we were being crowded throughout the meal. I think you need to think about the proximity of that table. If this was our first time we probably would have said the food was great but not sure about the experience. Because we’ve been before we know that it’s a great restaurant. And we will definitely come again.

Happened to be in West Bridgford on a Monday evening without a dinner reservation and came across this place. Was pretty quiet with it being a Monday evening so we easily go a table. We ordered 7 different tapas dishes and every one was exactly! Got to say this is the best tapas we have ever had! All washed down with a lovely bottle of red wine. Perfect

This is a great restaurant and the food was very good. I found 3 dishes each too much for us but they were good. What let it down for me was having a tablet thrust in my face and asked to do a review on the spot while paying. The restaurant is effectively asking for my time without any incentive. The review is a very black and white thumbs up or thumbs down on each question and leaves no room for anything else. For me it is unprofessional and I’ve never been asked in any restaurant before to review on the spot and I’m not sure where this review is posted or cherry picked.

Food was amazing (Spicy Flat bread a must). Great atmosphere, unassuming and very pleasant. Food was excellent, as was the allergy list. Great service and great food. First time here pre a match at Trent Bridge and lovely find.

Was really nice food. When I normally come here the dishes come out one after the other in short time and it's prefect. However, on this occasion it came out 10 to 15 minutes in-between each dish. I'd order a beer and then get it 15 minutes later. Service wasn't great as before but they were very polite.

Amazing place, only tiny little picky thing was one of our starters came out then the mains and we had to ask for the other starter . As it's a tapas restaurant and we were sharing it was not a major issue but it shouldn't have happened. I would definitely go back as the food was amazing

I’ve been going to Escabeche since the Perkins family opened the restaurant 2010. Always top food and service but tonight was absolute carnage😳😳They have obviously been busy with the 100 empty glasses on the bar and an upstairs private party going on. Half of our food was not available, what a surprise😳 I think Escabeche is a really nice place to be, but not tonight. Mr& Mrs Perkins think about your customers not £££££££££. Thanks Jonathan

Was very busy when we visited but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Drinks took a while to arrive but we were compensated by half being free. The food is excellent and not too expensive and the atmosphere is great. Well worth visiting and we'll definitely be going again. Highly recommended.

Probably the worst service I have ever experienced. Not down to the waitress, she’s run off her feet, but obviously the kitchen is in shambles, the entire meal has been a complete disaster. Tapas are coming literally 1 at a time with +30min intervals. There is no way you can run a tapas restaurant if you can’t flow the meals. Sorry guys but if you want my business you just got to be better. Let’s see next time, not written you off just yet.

What a great restaurant, 13 of us descended on a Sunday night to celebrate father-in-law’s 88th birthday. Great communication before hand, prompt replies to email enquiries about menus and booking Staff were brilliant, helpful and courteous Food was great, wife’s family are Spanish and they were impressed, so was I I’d recommend Escabeche for a visit We will be going again

Escabeche hosted our wedding reception, and we can’t thank them enough for what they did. It was the perfect venue for our small wedding party, and the Escabeche team couldn’t do enough for us and our guests on the day. The food was amazing, and all of our guests were highly complimentary of it. Jenna was so supportive in helping us plan how we wanted the day run, leaving us feeling so calm and excited about the day. This place never fails to deliver on that cosy, welcoming vibe. The staff are all smiles and chats, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in. The food – well, it’s a taste bud party. We always dive straight for the Korean Cauliflower, Crispy Beef, Chicken Wings, Chorizo, and those irresistible Halloumi Fritters. Each dish is a hit, bursting with flavors that have us coming back for more. There’s been a rare blip here and there, like that one time the spice level kicked up a notch unexpectedly, but even then, the food was still top-notch delicious. If I had to nitpick, I’d say it’s a bit of a downer that the portions have shrunk over time. I’m all for paying more to keep the portions how they used to be. Despite that, the place is a total gem. Worth every penny for the quality and the whole experience. Definitely a must-visit for anyone looking to spice up their dining routine.

I'm still in the middle of my meal but I can already give you 5 stars... or even 6 out of 5. Everything I've eaten and drank so far tastes excellent, I'm very impressed just like my wife. We'll certainly come back here. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Nottingham!!!

We were a party of 12. First time experience of Tapas and it didn't disappoint. Friendly service.

We made a booking for 21 people and from the day we made enquiries to the actual event we had excellent communication with regards to the menu. On the day we had amazing service with a dedicated server. Food was on so good. We selected the party menu and ended up taking the left overs home. Definitely recommend and will definitely book again for our next family celebrations. A big thank you to the whole team.

One of the best family run restaurants in Nottingham, great menu and atmosphere. Often go with our kids on a Sunday afternoon and the staff and food are great.

Strange eclectic tapas these days some Spanish some north African some pasta some flat breads some tacos ... perhaps tapas in the UK is over. I know it's Barcelona inspired and Barcelona is a very eclectic city just seemed to have lost its vibe.

Having booked, we were welcomed and escorted immediately to our table; booking proved worthwhile because, even on an early midweek evening, the restaurant was very busy. The atmosphere was lively, and the service faultless - attentive and efficient. Our food was excellent, with great choice, ample portions, and clearly freshly prepared. As it was our 43rd Wedding Anniversary, it was a really nice touch to receive a complimentary dessert, emboldened with corresponding text in chocolate, to share. We will definitely return!

My (now) husband and I had our wedding dinner at Escabeche in September 2023. Lucy and her team were nothing short of amazing. Lucy helped us plan our evening to every last detail with such professionalism and care. We hired the dining area above the main restaurant which was perfect for our party of 16 people. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour and served to perfection. I genuinely can’t fault Lucy or the team at Escabeche at all and would recommend dining at Escabeche to everyone. Thank you to Lucy and her team, everyone was so professional, attentive and clearly enjoyed working there- I think there is a lot to be said for this. We look forward to returning again for delicious (very reasonably priced) food, great service and atmosphere again soon.

Very expensive cheap ingredients and not at all looks inviting. Not be returning. Just two of us. £97

Went here for dinner early evening. We had booked a table as I have hearing difficulties so asked for a quiet table. We were given a table in a corner with walls on two side so it was relatively quiet. I find Escabeche quite noisy and it was quite full so this was helpful. The menus are on the table so we could choose and ordered after a short wait. There was then a reasonable wait while the food was cooked. As it is freshly cooked this was to be expected. As there were three of us and one was vegan it was good to see that many dishes were vegan or could be made vegan. We ordered Peshwari flatbreads which came first and were tasty. Following this we got beetroot felafel tacos, again tasty, Korean cauliflower which was probably the favourite plus French fries with vegan cheese on. This last was good and indistinguishable from ‘real’ cheese. One person had the mushroom risotto which they said was tasty. We had a further two dishes which we felt were not as tasty or good. They were Corn empadillas which we found quite bland and the vegan meatballs in a sauce. The sauce was good but the meatballs were quite hard. We felt that this was overall a good tasty meal. The staff were friendly and helpful

The pork tacos and the Spanish hot flatbread were delicious, portion size was great value for money- could not have actually picked a favourite dish as they were all so good. Average. Service was ok but they forgot one of the flatbreads. The drinks were lovely especially the sangria. The smoked bacon and mushroom flatbread was amazing. The halloumi fritters are more like halloumi fries as its just battered halloumi, the squid was flavourless. Highly recommend the meatballs and the garlic and chilli prawns.

This is a very lovely restaurant and gorgeous menu. I always enjoy going here as the staff are very friendly and food arrives at just the right time making the transition from one meal to the next seamless. Good place for kids too

We came here after having a fantastic meal at the other restaurant in the city centre with friends, food was great so we thought we would try escabeche. Great to see it so busy! We had booked a table which was lucky! We ordered a coke and a sangria, my sangria was great! We ordered 6-7 dishes. We had ordered a meat and cheese board, we were told that we cant have that but we could have either the meat board or the cheese board? The meat and cheese board was cheaper than just the cheese board or just the meat board. I still don’t understand how you can’t do something that I’ve been told you have the ingredients for? It didn’t sit right with us. We chose to have the cheese board and I was shocked at the price of 9.95 what appeared, it was so small for the price. We enjoyed the food but it wasn’t as good as the city centre restaurant, we felt a bit forgotten about. I’m really glad we tried it because I’ve been wanting to try it for ages 🌟

A difficult review to write because essentially everything was fine. Food was nice, service was good and ambience was OK. The problem is that the menu is disappointing. Escabeche is a tapas restaurant and I'd hoped for the delicious Spanish dishes that they used to serve. If I'd wanted Thai food or Korean or Chinese then I 'd go to those restaurants. I don't expect crispy chilli beef or korean cauliflower, tasty as they were, in a tapas restaurant. I hope they can go back to their previous menu otherwise it doesn't seem like a special place to visit any more.

We visited with family and we all thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and Tapas. The service was efficient and friendly.

First time was amazing second time very average food but good service and friendly people

We came around 2pm on Saturday with no booking, we were told there is not any free tables at the moment, only at the bar. There were 4 tables free when we came in, then next 2 became available… for 45 min when we were inside nobody seated in those free tables. I am not the biggest fan of bar seats as the are highly uncomfortable and if your legs don’t reach ground, legs get numb after some time… also eating space it’s not the biggest tbh… We ordered 6 different tapas, first of all we got 1 after 10/15 min since we’ve ordered, then after another 10 min another two dishes, after another 5/10min another one and finally after another 10 min two last dishes… if you’re ordering food at the restaurant you’d assume that all food will come at the same time, maybe in two parts but not in four parts… food was less than mediocre, patatas Barca’s weren’t really patatas bravas if you know how they look like, everything was deep fried and just mediocre. I will not back there and will not recommend it to anyone.

We visited last night and had a lovely meal! Plenty of vegetarian options which is great and the sangria was amazing. Service was a little slow as the evening went on but it was clear that it was a very busy evening and our server was so lovely we were happy to wait. We will definitely be back again soon!

We didn’t book, it was a busy Saturday night, but we were able to sit outside. The place was rammed - always a good sign. Vegan choices fantastic and very tasty. Prawns and squid good too. Our waitress was very friendly. Got a bit cold outside. Will know to book next time.

Arrived on time for booking , restaurant empty , asked to be moved table as felt it was just put there and didn’t feel comfortable, refused to move us saying all other tables were booked ! We had booked our table Ordered our selection to the be told they were out of polenta ! Then told they were out of lentils ! What’s that about There’s a coop next door ! Ordered the lemon cheesecake Which tasted nothing like a lemon cheesecake Very diss appointing ! Doubt we will visit again !

What a lovely restaurant, came with a friend for a mid week bite to eat. The food was great the staff were so friendly and the service was second to none. I'll definitely be coming back!
