Ernie's Fish & Chicken Bar in North Lanarkshire

Food is ok but definitely NOT the best in Scotland or even North Lanarkshire. It's always been overpriced and recently the portions are smaller than ever! and they're still living with COVID restrictions where you have to take a bleeper and stay outside. Not a pleasant experience.

The picture of the hamburger is nothing like what came the 1 that came was deep fried the 1 in the picture was lovely in a roll with salad totally disgusted the attitude of the staff was quite cold

Bought large portion of chips on 7/6/24 @6pm which cost £4.50, I would not have thrown them in the bin, absolutely disgusting, shop was also unclean. Front Counter on customer side and floor was filthy. Goodness knows what behind the counter is like if that is what is on display inside the front of shop,disgusting.

Waste of time and diesel coming here..only came here while i was working up here for 2 weeks and found it on google 5 mins away from where i am working cos i like to try n support the local buisness,s. Staff were rude,(please and thankyou..manners cost nothing)..remember who comes through your door is helping to pay your wages,chips were like them crinkle cut type where ya buy a big bag from supermarket and were dry and tasteless,i asked for a large fish n chips and when it arrived the portion was like a childs size,the batter was soggy, chips were dry..and as for the peas..well..ya could of used them in a catapult..Best thing about it was the fish was tender and quite tasty and thats about all..£12 wasted ended up throwing chips n peas in the bin..and still been hungry.Also very expensive for poor quality food.The owner should come down to Northallerton,North Yorkshire and i will take them and show them what proper fish n chips should be like..Ernies a place i will not visit again..🤮

Special fish suppers, very large portions and very tasty. Would have given 5 stars but batter a bit tough at tha ends.

Food was something I could have picked up and made myself from the supermarket. The service was fine.

Best fish and chips in Lanarkshire, maybe even Scotland. Eat your heart out, that other place in Anstruther, you are not a patch on this great wee place. Everything made fresh to order, with the best tasting haddock ever.

I've been going here for years, even long after I moved away from Shotts. Unlike the majority of chippies, you walk in and there is no food in sight - everything is cooked fresh to order. Highly recommended, and in my experience be sure to go to this one over the Dykehead sister shop.
