Enderby House in Greenwich

Amazing location, friendly and professional staff, good food, amazing rooms. Friends and family really enjoyed, we had a separate room with a great river view. Everyone was very complimentary about the place.

This was a 70th birthday celebration and we hired the Octagon Room for the event for lunch for 18 people. It has a lovely view over the river. The liaison with the staff before the event was excellent. They presented a menu for us to consider, discussed changes, and adapted as we needed as the guests included pescatorians, vegetarians, vegans and a child. The food was well-presented and of high quality. Elizabeth was our main host, who was at hand whenever needed, and Stella was our main waiter. We got good advice on wines; they didn't just pick the expensive ones and were spot-on in determining how much we needed. No deposit was necessary nor any minimum spend; and we were able to extend our use as the room was not reserved for a later event. We were very pleased and would certainly use the venue for another family event.

I went to celebrate my civic wedding party in the restaurant. I was lovely place, we had a separate place in the roof just for ourselves. They did not charge extra for that, the food was very nice and the staff was very friendly especially Lilian who was there all the time to serve us and he was very kind and nice. Thank you Enderby House team for everything!

Great spot for a lazy Saturday or Sunday lunch/dinner. Good food and great river views. Also, really lovely staff. Menu is a good mix of meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan - genuinely something for everybody. The ploughman’s sharing platter in particular was excellent - fab Scotch eggs, sausage rolls and gammon!

This was a wonderful spot for a (20ish) person gathering. We had the roof top space which had beautiful views. The cooked buffet food was really good and the contact helping me choose it in advance was prompt and helpful. There isn’t a bar in that space but the staff were attentive and always on hand to take drinks orders. Highly recommend for any occasion as well as being a nice place to have a drink/meal!

Arum and Anatoli has been a fantastic waiter! Answered all the questions we had about the drinks this place offers and did it with a big smile!! Great drinks and amazing service! Definitely would recommend ☺️

Our second visit in a month but oh dear. The service and facilities an embarrassment. Toilets not working so everyone was being directed to the ' back up' ( unfortunate phrase ) toilets in the basement via a handwritten sign stuck to the staircase. These two toilets were 3 floors below the terrace where most customers are seated as it's a fine evening. Clearly these are the staff toilets, one of them with no lock on the door and no water from taps so unable to wash hands ( eek ). What to say - if this is the way they treat staff? Unhygienic, broken sink. Dirty floor. Not a great impression. Food, OK for the price but abominable service from start to finish. You order at the bar then have to carry drinks up or down 2 floors yourself. Bottle of wine with requested 4 glasses, only given 3 glasses. Requested water. Had to carry 4 glasses of water up the stairs ourselves despite loads of serving staff milling around a computer screen by the bar. Ordered 4 meals but one was from the starter menu so instead of using the app we ordered at the bar to explain it was not a starter - all food was to come at same time. After 20 mins the starter dish came but no other food. So that one person in our group ate on their own. Waited another 20 mins. No one came to take dirty plate away. Another 10 mins. We went back to the bar to make enquiry about the rest of the food for 3 of us. They admitted they misunderstood our request. After one whole hour the rest of the food turned up. We ordered bottle of water. Did not turn up. Another trip to the bar to check where it had got to. I mean, really? The pub was not at capacity. Why are waiting staff all standing around by the bar when the customers are all sitting outside on the terraces waiting for service. They should be walking outside offering service, clearing away dirty glasses etc. Lot of improvements needed - but as we said - if those staff toilets are an indication of how the staff are treated? No words, truly shambolic, embarrassed to bring any more friends here. Managers should maybe try to decide whether they want people to order at the bar or at the youngs app for starters. You can't have all your staff staring at a computer.

Booked a room for our daughter’s christening reception and had a lovely time. We had a dedicated member of staff, and our lunch orders were brought within half an hour, despite there being about 25 of us.

This used to be our fave Sunday roast but has seriously gone downhill. Still have to order drinks and food at the bar (order at table app doesn’t work as no table number). Enticing menu on website is not same as on the day. Very basic chicken roast and beef stew with one very sad dumpling. Plates left on the table until we were leaving. no check backs at all. Bar staff were super friendly was the only good experience. Sorry if you are experiencing staff issues but there was zero floor control leading to v haphazard service. Hope you sort it out as you have a captive market here

Nice venue for a family gathering but some of the meals we ordered were very small, not very nice and with that in mind very over priced.

Went for Sunday lunch and the Food was great not sure if they were training as the service was very slow. Staff were very friendly though.

Having been to Enderby before and thoroughly enjoyed it I was expecting the same, unfortunately this was not to be the case. The service was extremely slow, we waited a good hour before our food was served and the desserts were warm/cold but we just ate them as we didn’t want to wait around for them to be re-served. Overall disappointing, I did overhear that they had four staff off that day, knowing that they should have informed diners that this was the case and given them the option to stay knowing there was a long wait or going elsewhere. Sadly therefore I won’t be returning.

I booked The Octagon Room for a family party of ten, to celebrate my 70th birthday on Christmas Eve and we were delighted with the service we received and we had all chosen from the 3 course festive menu, I thought my starter of scallops was delicious, the turkey and trimmings was as expected and the crumble dessert was good. Everyone else seemed happy with their choices. The room was ready and decorated suitably for Christmas and we were able to add our own decorations and bring our own birthday cake, for which they provided plates and a knife. The member of staff in charge of our booking introduced himself and checked on us during the meal, the other staff helping to serve were good.

My work team went for a Christmas lunch to Enderby House. When I made the booking I told EH that one of our party needed to eat gluten free but the menu was effectively limited to a choice of two meals. They weren't prepared to answer questions on what dishes contained and had to check with the kitchen. In the end I had a burger minus a bun (my choice) and it was OK. My friends had a steak, burgers, rabbit cassoulet and fish in batter. The rabbit was very tasty, the fish was huge and nice and the burgers and steak were OK. The serving staff were friendly and attentive. I would eat there again in the future but not as a first choice.

Firstly the venue is wonderful. I recommend anyone visiting should take a walk round the upper & lower floors where the historical rooms are situated. Meanwhile the newer areas of Enderby House very much complement the old. In regards to the food & service: For the price the food is ok but nothing to rave about. As for the service, it was a very young group behind the bar and waiting the tables. They were a nice bunch and tried their best but it was evident they lacked proper training. Some of the service was comical (I've never had wine served so ineptly!) but I put it all down to lack of staff training by the management. The venue really is superb. Not easy to get to via public transport, but if the management can up the service and raise the food quality then it may well be worth trekking over to Enderby House.

A ruined Christmas celebration we booked the Enderby house on recommendation from my friend who had eaten here previously and said how good it was. This was not the case we booked in August 2023 for 12 people and pre-ordered our food when we got there, we were hassled about having our starters brought out, but when they arrived, only three of them came out and we waited half an hour to 40 minutes for the rest of them. We were told there had been a mess up without order and even though we gave our menu choices in November, I had to let one of the staff take a screenshot of my food for our actual order. When the mains come out the food was cold the vegetables were rock hard and the meat was tough. ithere was absolutely nothing nice about this food, including the dessert; I ordered apple crumble and cream, and it was more like apple, dust and a cup of warmed up skimmed milk,, we then had a huge wrangle over the bill as they only wanted to take 20% off and really they shouldn’t have charged us for any of the food The staff were trying their best to be accommodating, but the reason we were told that our food was bad and cold was the fact that they had a full bar and a busy event downstairs, but when I went to investigate the bar was empty and there wasn’t a function downstairs. The staff were all trainees and the assistant manager informed us that she was leaving soon so it makes me wonder about their working conditions in that place. I was so disappointed as I’ve been looking forward to this for such a long time at £44 for a set menu which cost us £29 in the end. Even then that was too much money. If you’ve booked for Christmas event or for food in general. I would advise you to cancel this. I am so disgusted with the Service and the food I’ve even written to Young’s to complain.
