Terrible food, kids left to run around screaming and the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Don’t waste your money.

Waited 1 hours and 15 minutes for our delivery which was luke warm once we opened it all. Rang up and they were rude and put the phone down, so I rang again and they said next time come and collect. There will not be a next time

We were regular visitors to the original Empress Gardens and always enjoyed the food there. Unfortunately, the restaurant closed during the Covid Lockdowns and only reopened a few months ago, renamed as Fenixia. We made our first visit this week, and were delighted to find the food excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. The menu prices are a little more expensive but the overall meal was very good value.

We visited yesterday evening, first time in about 3 years. The new interior was good and both food and service was great and we had a wonderful evening. It was also good to see other people visiting, not only takeaway's :)

Unfortunately very disappointed with our meal. We used to go there a long time ago but things deteriorated after the owner passed away, yesterdays food was well below standard with the duck looking like it was few days old by being so hard on the edges and dry inside. Starter was ok with main being a bit bland and like warm as everything was waiting when I collected it. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.

The food is freshly cooked so tasty lovely employees so friendly so glad my mum found out about this place! Delicious food

Had a few deliveries and the food is always delicious with fresh ingredients. Generous portions and delivery always quick. Highly recommended They also have a easy online ordering system.

I had to wait over 3 hours for my food. They didn’t even think to call me to tell me it was going to be late. I’m absolutely appalled by the service and will never order from here again.

Disappointed beyond words, we regularly order from Empress Garden but the food tonight was inedible. Soggy spring rolls, chips and prawn balls, crab claws that you could not even bite into as they were so over cooked and the sweet and sour sauce had separated. The chow mein tasted of nothing but oil as did the rice. They either have a new chef or they need to change the oil, as has never been like this before. Phoned to make them aware that the food was inedible and all they could offer was 30% discount. Totally unacceptable for food that just went in the bin.

I ordered via their website - had to get a big enough order to meet the min delivery charge of £18. Delivery was charged as £2.50. After waiting I then get a call telling me they are going to charge me £5 for delivery as I was too far! I am only Camberley. I told them that they should honour the delivery as per their website and that they should update their website if it was an issue. They refused so I had to cancel my order. And any refund can take between 5 to 10 days apparently! Poor service on their part for not honouring the advertised charges though the online booking system.

We had a delivery takaway which arrived with so much oil in the bag. The sauce in the pork dish had seperated and had water on the top, not a great sight. As we put the food on the plate I placed the fork on the pork and it mushed down to a plup. We never took a bite of any of it, called them so they said they would send someone to collect it. Refund given a few days later.

Disappointed is an understatement. Takeaway was inedible and most had to be assigned to the food recycling. It was extremely fatty, salty and over cooked. Hoisin sauce it was not. Never again!

I suffer from a nut and fish allergy which means it is quite hard to find a safe chinese restaurant and takeaway and we have ordered from this restaurant on multiple occasions. Great for allergy sufferers :)

Really high quality good, exceptional tonight, everything perfectly cooked, balanced flavour, couldn’t fault our take away. This is our 3rd take away from here. Last time we went to the New Beijing across the road from us on Old Wokingham road, sadly new management and the food was poor quality, even the prawn crackers tasted strange. Credit where it’s due, our food tonight was very, very good! Thank you.

Have just had our first takeaway meal delivered from this restaurant tonight. First Class! Never expect much from Chinese takeaways usually but this was really first Class. Plenty of good quality meat and the vegetables were excellent as well. Delivery was very quick and ordering on. Their website very easy. Will certainly be using again.

No ambience. Like eating in a take out queue. Large portions of below average food. Poor quality meat and fairly tasteless.

I have been going to this restaurant with a group of friends for a long time and the food is normally very nice. We went this week and we were all so disappointed the food had no taste and when we commented about it the guy didnt seem that bothered it wasnt just a one person complaint we all thought the same about the food. So unfortunately we will not be visiting this restaurant again.

I went to get a takeaway and found the staff I dealt with very pleasant and the food value. Will eat in next time so will review again one I have dined there.

We visited here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and went again last night. Both times we had the all you can eat buffet which we found to be very varied and of good quality. Having read some of the reviews regarding the service, I disagree. We found the staff to be very friendly and efficient. The restaurant does look a little dated but I quite like that. It is very clean and the fact that it looks dated somehow adds to its charm. We would definitely return.

Sunday 28th July my family and I went for a meal here. 4 adults,teenager and a 6 year old. We were seated and decided we didn’t want the all you could eat and ordered from the normal menu. We ordered water for the table as we wanted to order food before drinks. After ordering about five minutes in the rather rude lady came back and said because our order came to £49 and was less than £10 per person she can’t serve us but we can order it as a take out???? We were gobsmacked. There were 6 people in restaurant and loads of empty tables plus this isn’t a top notch restaurant with a minimum order. I asked to see where it said it on the menu and she showed me. It said 10% surcharge not £10 minimum charge per person. She refused to serve us unless as I said we ordered it as a take out. Well they’ve lost our custom and will NEVER go back due to rudeness. Our bill would of been double once we ordered our drinks but you snooze you loose. Very weird way of treating customers and your business.

We went when it was not busy. The service was very good. The choice is good. We have been spoilt as we have eaten excellent, authentic Chinese food, so we found the flavours rather bland. However, the restaurant soon filled up, so people are voting with their chop sticks!

Very tasty food in a quiet neat space. Good colours and ambience. Ideal for dining with friends, family and even with your date! The staff were very friendly and the meals were delivered within 5 minutes of ordering.Authentic Chinese food delivered to you by Chinese. I'll definitely go back.

We came here a year ago and had the set menu which turned out to be too much for us to eat so we just had our favourite dishes; soups to start and then 4 dishes and rice. Still a lot to get through! Everything was great.

We came here last year and was surprised how good it was for the price. That has not changed. Food was excellent, staff friendly. Considering there is a takeaway across the road was surprised how many people came in for takeaway. Wasn't full. Good menu. Wine list was expensive and they said (I think) that they are changing it. Overall the food was tasty, good presentation and as usual far too much. We decided after having a set meal last time and struggling, to just pick a few dishes, still ate too much. The Pinot Grigio was nice. Glad we returned. £68 for 2.

We have been to the Empress gardens for a long time... but not any more, We found the service slow and disorganised the food was not as good as it has been and the bill was a real shocker almost £10.00 added for service...

Fabulous hot tasty food, well presented with great service! What more can you want?! We went on a Sunday & it wasn’t busy at all, the great menu choice made it easy to choose what to eat too.

We have tried this restaurant a few times over the years and the food is passable but the service could really do with improvement. The people serving our table were unfriendly and reluctant to engage. Although the food was okay, we probably won't rush back unless there is no other option.

Went out with my partner for their all you can eat menu... Not really impressed with the choices they had and also the price is ridiculous for what you actually get... Not impressed at all... Also the service wasn't nice and we had to ask a couple of times for our drinks order.

Food is ok acceptable as standard and fairly priced, service was attentive. Restaurant is a little tired but considering what you pay its acceptable. If you fancy a nice little mid week Chinese all you can eat Buffett that won't break the bank but will pop your belt then this is your place.

Oh dear... This used to be a really nice restaurant with top notch cuisine and a real treat to visit. Sadly the former owner died and it has changed hands in recent times. What struck us as we walked through the door on our 'trip down memory lane' is how dowdy and dreary and tacky the decor/lighting now is.

We arrived at this restaurant and we were given the Eat as much as you like menu for a fixed price. Tap water is free but a glass of cheap wise will set you back at least £5.

We visited last week whilst visiting our daughter who lives nearby. The food is very good, larger than average portions and an authentic flavour. What let’s this restaurant down is the decoration and service. We were not greeted and had to make our way to the reception desk at the rear of the restaurant. The walls and ceiling need a lick of paint and the spotlights look to be from the last century. That said the carpet looked new.

A nice restaurant. Food is good and staff friendly in our experience. We've been several times. Kids enjoy it a lot too. It's exactly as you'd expect for a smaller, standard Chinese food based place.

We have ordered a few times. Being creatures of habit, I normally always order soups, 1/4 crispy duck, and hubby beef curry boiled rice.

Collected our takeaway from Empress Garden Friday evening and as usual it was delicious. Dishes are generous and piping hot so good to serve when we get home. My favourite dish at the moment is the chicken and cashew in yellow bean sauce, but all taste good. We have tried most of the Chinese’s in the area since our favourite shut and Empress Garden

It was the first time that we have been to this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and quick, not only that but the prices were resonable. Will certainly be going again.

Had a dinner with my wife and have to admit that the service and food are as good as always. Highly recommend the beef in black bean sauce.

It's been many years since visiting this Chinese; it was always good although the restaurant was a bit dated and scruffy. It has been refurbished and looked very since. The food was excellent as I remembered from before and really good value. The chicken satay was superb!

A bunch of us wanted a night out to natter and enjoy a meal and this restaurant was suggested. Although in the middle of Sandhurst, right opposite is a row of shops with it's own service road off of the main road, with plenty of parking available in the evening. The Empress Garden is just on the other side of the road.

Never been here before. Jane saw the menu and suggested we visit as the price looked good and in the past had good food here. We chose the meal for 2, B. Excellent starters, the satay sauce was superb. The duck was lovely but the mains were the icing on the cake. All cooked to perfection, rice was good as was the vegetable dish. Nice chardonay as well. The cost v quality/amount of food was great. Drinks were a bit high but overall a great choice. Thanks Jane, would not have chosen this myself.

Went here and it was absolutely freezing inside because the heating wasn't on. The food wasn't very good either . I've since found out it has changed hands.....Never again will we go back...such a shame it used to be lovely

Excellent food served in this restaurant, tables always beautifully laid with pretty pink serviettes. Good choice of food, staff are friendly and always give good attentive service. We have also had 2 take-aways from here and the food was still hot and tasty when we got home. We will definitely be going to this restaurant again to eat in and for more take-aways. Thank you.

Empress Garden is my nearest Chinese restaurant in Sandhurst and I quite enjoy the food, especially the crispy duck. However, there are better Chinese restaurants in Yateley and Crowthorne.

We have visited this restaurant 3 times and for the last time too! the food was ok nothing special but was ok, our average bill was normally around £100 for the 4 of us and we always left a good tip, minimum of £10 was always left.

Had a lovely birthday meal with friends in this restaurant, Lovely ambience, staff very nice, but the food ....oh my God it will have you drooling. We had Chicken,sweetcorn soup, ribs, prawn toast, spring rolls Chicken Satay. Then crispy duck, then egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken,Chinese veg, Beef with ginger, chilli beef, special fried rice. Then being very greedy I had banana toffee fritters with lots of white wine spritzers..... what a birthday treat, must have put at least 7lbs on...each pound was worth it, give this restaurant a try.....you will love it.

Went last night, first time eating in since change of ownership. We went for the " eat all you can", at £18.95 I thought it a bit pricey for midweek, but food was delicious. Service wasn't rushed, food hot, presented well and waitress was attentive without being pushy.I think the waiting staff need to take more pride in their​ appearance. Our waitress served us with a baseball​ cap on and a gilet jacket, the cap and jacket was removed later on. The owner? was wearing a puffer jacket all night and towards the end of our evening seemed to be dusting a ledge? First impressions count and both should have been wearing appropriate attire for the start of evening service. Music choice was interesting, the same song was played over and over again, must be a favourite!I had a takeaway a couple of weeks ago and could find no fault with the food, in fact, the sweet and sour chickens balls were amazing.I think if the midweek prices were lower they may get more trade during this time but the weekend prices are reasonable.Overall I could find no fault with the service or food and I will be returning, it was, and still is, my first choice for a Chinese meal.

We went to try it again after the new management took over, food has changed slightly but still rather tasty, staff always seem in a rush to get you out asap, Jenny and Ada were always so friendly when they ran it and would take the time to talk to you, maybe this is something the new staff could consider?

We visited this place a little while ago and it was horrible! The food was mediocre at best and the bloke who appeared to be in charge was the rudest man I've know. The place was quiet so he had a face on him as long as next week which really didn't give you that welcoming feeling and he was really unhelpful. He wouldn't even let a lady who had ordered from a set menu swap her ice cream for a coffee! The service was awful, the dishes were cold as they bring them out in open bowls with no way to keep the heat in and were just 'plonked' on the table with no talking. We will never go back there again and I'd advise people to give it a very wide berth, there are much nicer places out there, this one is dire.

We visited to celebrate a friend's Birthday.The Restaurant offers an all you can eat menu which for some reason is priced at £15.95 per person Sunday to Thursday and £21.95 per person on Friday and SaturdayMy wife and I decided we would like the a la Carte menu and our friends opted for the all you can eat menu. We were told that we would not be allowed to have a fixed price and a la carte menu at the same table. This seemed strange because had we been two couples at seperate tables we could have had a la carte on one table and the fixed price on the other.However were obliged to conform and somewhat reluctantly agreed to all go for the a la carte menu.The portions were reasonably generous and the food very goodWhen I received the bill I noticed that a 10% service charge had been added. I was a little annoyed at this because I consider gratuities should be at the discretion of the customer. However I notice subsequently that the menu does state that a service charge will be applied, a practice which in my opinion should be made illegalBecause of the negative points. I think We would probably not wish to visit The Empress Garden again, a shame because as previously mentioned, The food was very good and reasonably priced

Given that you can get a Indian meal at a cost of about £60 for two just up the road I expected similar with our local chinese. We decided to try as had heard good things now it's under new management. We certainly were not disappointed with the food - delicious. However the bill seemed excessive. We probably would eat here again but only as a change from our normal eatery, all be it Indian.

We just happened to spot this place after visiting family in the area and popped in on the off chance. There were two other chinese takeaways very close by but there seemed to be a constant stream of customers visiting for takeaway meals throughout our stay. As usual with Chinese restaurants the service was good and efficient but the meals where outstanding. Not massive portions but more than enough to satisfy us followed by a nice dessert and a few drinks each.

Ate in here after a last minute decision. It was a weekday early evening and we were initally the only ones in there. We had the eat as much as you like meal @ around £18.50 per head, highly recommend this if you are a big eater as there is a lot to choose from. Meals could work out expensive if you ordered individual dishes. The food was hot and tasty, the staff very friendly. Would go back again.

We ate here and ordered off the all you can eat menu. The food was very tasty and piping hot and we really enjoyed it. The service was also wonderful and very attentive. I would recommend this place but it does seem to be getting a little expensive. The buffet on a mid week evening is £18.50 per person and the drinks came out at over £20 for 3 bottles of beer (330ml) and 2 large cokes.

We visited on the day of the A level results. It was very busy but the food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend a visit.

We ordered take away (collection only) but well worth it. Good food, reasonably priced and a good selection of your typical Chinese cuisine. Will definitely be returning.

My Friends and I had the much as you like to eat menu for £18,65 ( Not shore if this is correct price ) all the food is cooked fresh and to order you can ask for any dish you like again the staff are very friendly and polite the service is great will definitely be going back again and recommending to Family and other friends.

Booked here as our usual place was fully booked. Was in two minds reading the recent reviews, but please we had decided to give this a go. There was four people in our party and we just wanted a quite evening. While the service was OK it was a little strange, but the food we ordered was very good and everyone enjoyed it. Would we go back yes we would. Just do not be shy in when asking for more as the portions were on the small side, but when we ask more food followed. We went for the adventure menu is had all the usual Chinese items you would expect. While we were their lots of take out orders were being picked up, which again is a good sign.

I loved this restaurant. We went on a week night for dinner with a few friends and it was such a lovely experience. The service was amazing, the staff were lovely, the food came out quickly and it all tasted amazingly! Highly recommended!

We took our two boys for the first time to try a Chinese and was disappointed that our 10 year old had to pay full price even though he hardly ate anything. Left with a very salty after taste so has put the kids off Chinese meals for life and cost us far too much for the standard of food. Thumbs down I'm afraid.

I returned for the second time since this restaurant to give it another chance. I'm sorry to say that things have improved little. This used to be a gem of a Chinese restaurant and I ate there at least twice a week. However I decided to have a take away being tired and not bothered to cook my self. The special fried rice was reasonably well done but a little in the greasy side and this I think is one of the problems. I also had the BBQ pork and the sauce had split with the oil clearly visible and overly sweet which seems a theme in the meal. The crispy duck was nice but the sauce again overly sweet. Could I recommend this place? Unfortunately not, the big problem is there is very little in the way of alternatives.

Had a takeaway from Empress Garden a week or two ok. Food was OK although the BBQ sauce wasn't good.

At first we were a little confused about the set menu (£21.50 at the weekend) but our very cheerful waitress explained that we could choose as many items as we wanted! The choice of dishes was excellent and the food really delicious. If you don't feel you can face such a banquet, you can opt for a la carte. We shall definitely return soon.

We ate there Wed evening having not been there for several years. Food was excellent and piping hot. Staff attentive, used set price menu with plenty of choice and quick service.

Having read some of the reviews we were a little apprehensive of eating here again. We decided to give it a try and were very pleased that we did. When we entered the Restaurant last Friday evening there were a lot of people already there which we thought was a good sign. We ordered from the all you can eat menu. There were four of us and we were not sure how it worked but the waitress guided us through the process. The staff were very attentive and we found the food excellent. In fact we enjoyed the evening so much that we decided we must make this a regular event. Looking forward to our next visit

Service incredibly slow for a half filled restaurant .....came to pay bill . Checked bill ....10% service charge included what a cheek for service we received .....came to pay bill , card reader asked yes or no to pay a gratuity SCANDALOUS if meal had been decent , i hadnt read bill , the service was good i would have paid a service charge + a gratuity .....never will return

First takeaway from EG, went to collect and was ready within 10 minutes of ordering!! Vegetable and chicken chowmeins were both good portions and would do as a single main in their own right.Also had the Peking mock duck between two of us which was very nice too, and not many places have this so had to try it and would recommend (coming from a meat eater).Definitely our new Chinese takeaway.

I have been a regular customer at Empress Gardens for over 20 years and it is such a shame that new management have changed what was a perfect Chinese restaurant. Since the take over there has been an increase to the price and less offered in terms of quantity and options on the menu. Service is service and I can take or leave how fast or slow it is, the staff try to be friendly, but what a big big mistake to change the chef. The atmosphere is next to nothing now. Take the restaurant back to how it was by offering the food that was available before I say! the only Dessert offered on EAMAYC menu is lychees!! Its the Beijing in Blackwater for us now unfortunately, not one of my favourites but at least its not over priced

Went last night a group of us. Slow service food coming out in slowly. Was given just seaweed for 5 mins before anything else arrived that we ordered. Smaller portions and not very friendly service. After eating there was also unwell all night as far too greasy. I won't be going again

Went for my Birthday 2 days ago. Service was perfectly timed and helpful. The choices on menu covered anything you could want and good wine list. The food was some of the best I have ever had, very tasty and not over sauced as you can sometimes get. I would recommend this lovely restaurant. Thank you

We went there after recommendations of a friend who said it was lovely food. We heard it was under new management and the food had improved. We thought the food was good. The service was excellent and the waitress couldn't do enough to keep us happy. Definitely will return!

Went to this restaurant last night with an open mind. We have been going there for many years enjoying the mid week menu. The food was excellent, everything we ordered was hot, fresh and tasty. I cannot understand the previous bad comments. The staff were very friendly and efficient. It's a shame there were only three tables being frequented, it did lack a bit of atmosphere. I would definitely recommend people to give it a try.

Having visited the Empress Gardens many times over the years and having read the recent reviews we decided to visit and make our own opinion. We were pleasantly surprised, the food and service were excellent, some dishes better than on previous visits. We will definitely return.

I went here a week or so ago. I've been going for 25 years and it's been consistently great. Unfortunately Jenny decided to sell up and retire and whilst I think a few old staff stayed for a while they have now left. The chef has gone! Such delicious food and they've ruined it. I feel quite angry about how a local institution has been so demeaned. The dishes have all been cut in size by a 1/3rd their midweek set menu which was a complete winner has been replaced. Everything has no depth of flavour, is sweet and greasy. Some of my favourite items have been removed from the menu. If you have the set menu the rice has been cut by 3/4 so you then have to order more and watch whilst the rest of the dishes go cold as you wait and wait. The duck which was exceptional and used to be slow roasted for hours now has no colour as it's just deep fried. Awful, awful, awful, awful. End of an era. I used to invite friends from all over the country to try the food here and universally it was adored and now its just terrible. Give this place a wide birth. Not worth your money!! YUK Yuk YUK!!

I have to admit I love big dishes , I got excited seeing all the good reviews and also hearing it's an all you can eat restaurant where you get served at the table.Sadly I understood why, small portions brought on various plates trick your brain into thinking you are full. I was not impressed with the all you can eat experience, food was ok but felt that even a take away would have offered me more than what I ate in there . Disappointed it's a small word, will not visit again

Food is way too greasy, theme throughout all dishes, grease. Cutlery so worn out the black metal base showing through.All three of us who ate at the Resteraunt were up feeling sick and running to the toilet, probably the greasy food.The staff were okay, polite but too few staff so not attentive. Also too many tables, the set up is round tables with two seats either side of the tables, rather than equally spaced around, this set up lets them squeeze more tables in, but makes for an awkward seating arrangement, especially if you raise your elbows to eat, like I do.Cost was similar to other Chineses restaurants in the area, but the food was way poorer, so not good value.

The quality of the food is no longer outstanding, its hot, its fresh, but just the same as any other restaurant now. I have been visiting this restaurant for aprox. 23 years but sadly due to the change of food and the service is slow and the staff aren't friendly, we wont be returning.

Great food with the option of all you can eat buffet which is what I went for. As the restaurant got a bit busier it did take a little time for food to arrive so in reality you cant maybe eat as much as you would like. However good service and lovely food.

This is the best Chinese restauant I have been too. Food amazing, hot, great service and value for money
